Okay so, I attended a VERY local event where Falk was a speaker. By very local I mean there were maybe 20 people in a refurbished bar and he hung out with us after the Q&A.
Things that he mentioned in no particular order:
- PW didn't have a crew on tour until around 2008 and it didn't include a sound tech, that came way later
- they used a refurbished truck they bought in ye olden days and one time Matthew said he smelled fire. They told him it was his croissant. It was not his croissant.
- Falk is the organizer and logistics guy for the tour because (my interpretation) he can't stand not knowing if everything is going okay. Including checking the weather constantly during festival season
- he's also super nervous about his keyboards not arriving when they take a flight. Apparently they have been hidden to prank him before.
- the band knows exactly how to push each other's buttons by now and it is being used lmao
- his favorite video shoot was We don't wanna be no saints because his slimy (his words) character was really fun to play and it was a great location
- the tennis video was just a spur of the moment thing. The biggest issue was actually getting a tennis ball because the location is in the middle of nowhere. Roel had to drive to several stores.
- Yes the staff broke, but they fixed it again lmao.
- Falk has murdered at least four harmoniums by now. Most of them were from eBay. One instrument he actually refurbished himself, he showed us photos it was great.
- Also, the guitars in the Sinners of the Seven Seas video were the original stage guitars. They had to have their entire wiring redone after.
- the water corpse pose in Sinners was something he made up because standing in the water, his legs couldn't move the way he wanted them to for his usual poses. Apparently the entire shoot was very physically demanding.
- rain scenes are fine but My Will Be Done was hard because they used water AND wind, and looking chill while being pelted in the face with artificial rain is rough. Also, there were just literally people standing on the sides throwing leaves into the wind for the scene, which is hilarious to me.
- Falk was HORRIBLY seasick during the filming of Sinners. The ship apparently didn't actually move much but the difference in motion patterns to modern ships and the slanted deck was not fun. He was however very appreciative of the ship itself and the crew that worked it.
- Falk forgot the name of Demons are a girl's best friend during the interview lmao
- when i said i liked his tattoos he got excited to show them and seemed almost annoyed that he started so late in life. He's planning a full sleeve apparently (good for him!)
- I was a bit surprised but even when speaking to people who did use heavy dialect, Falk didn't switch from standard German. Some phrases still slipped out certainly and some pronunciation struggles (ch pronounced as sch are an easy tell) but otherwise nope, nothing. I've heard Attila speak more dialect in BtS videos.
- Falk for his perspective on fandom especially in contrast with Ghost and Sleep Token (I answered an ask about that recently) since I was curious if he had an idea why three bands with similar themes have such a different type of fandom around it. His best guess was that Powerwolf are kind of approachable (case in point that I'm writing this) whereas Sleep Token and Tobias from Ghost are more at a distance.
And lastly, not only did I get a picture, I got the title page of my thesis signed (in green marker because I didn't find anything else at my brother's house). And Falk got a copy of my thesis, since he seemed genuinely happy to read it. I really do hope he likes it!
Overall he was an incredibly down to earth, funny, and kind person even four beers in and very very tired. He said bye to us with a hug as well 🥺

I got a rather exciting piece of Star Trek history in the mail that I wanted to share!
Note: I am far from a Star Trek historian. What I say here is going based off of mostly old blog posts and fan forums. Apologies in advance if I get information incorrect and feel free to correct me!
“Killing Time”
“Killing Time” by Della Van Hise is #24 of the Star Trek pocketbooks. Published in 1985 the first edition of this book was recalled after a bit of an outcry, apparently in part from Roddenberry himself, as it seemed to imply that Kirk and Spock had something more than a friendship between them. Editions after this remove and replace the “offending” passages.
Though the novel is rather infamous it is sought after by collectors and fans of the Kirk and Spock relationship (like myself.) And though it’s infamous, shunned by Roddenberry and IP holder there are accusations that the plot of the first alternate original series movie was at the least inspired by the novel.
Who is Della Van Hise?
Della Van Hise had an extensive history of writing fanfiction on an old typewriter from a young age. Along with that experience she was known amongst fans that traded their stories back and forth as a rather prolific K/S writer, often publishing fic under pseudonyms. It is apparently fans of these works that encouraged her to submit Killing Time to be officially published. Della went on to have original works published such as poems and novels like “Quantum Shaman.”
According to a Facebook from Della’s wife, Wendy, she passed in March of 2021 after repeated health issues.
At the beginning of “Killing Time” there is a series of acknowledgements. The first of which is to a Wendy.
Just How Rare is this Thing?
The true rarity of this novel is a bit hard to parse in my opinion. There are Star Trek books out there far more expensive, such as “Stitch in Time” by Andrew Robinson. Sources say around 250,000 of copies of the first edition were produced, with 100,000+ having already been shipped before the recall. Copies that were swept up into the recall were destroyed but according to some fan forums many copies did end up on store shelves and were sold. It’s unclear just how many copies of the first edition are left but there are plenty of stories of fans stumbling across the first edition on second-hand bookstore shelves, in thrift stores or even in EBay lots of Star Trek novels sold by people who apparently didn’t know what they had.
As of now this book isn’t worth $100+ and I don’t believe you should buy it for that much if you see a listing for that price. My copy I bought for $60 which $60-70 seems to be the standard accepted value going off past eBay listings. This of course isn’t inexpensive, especially for pocketbooks when you can usually find them for less than $10 in stores and even less online. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a way for fans to enjoy an uncensored copy online if they can’t afford a physical copy. The most I was able to find is this.
A journal entry which compares the uncensored to censored parts of the book.
How do You Know if it’s the First Edition?
So say you’ve run into a copy of this book out in the wild or you’re looking at listings online and are unsure if it’s the recalled edition or not. There are luckily a few quick and easy ways you can figure out if it’s legit.
1. An Embossed Title
Now this way is not always a guarantee if you have a 1st edition copy. Apparently there was some copies that were printed with flat lettering but all first editions I’ve seen of this book through listings and blog posts do always seem to have the raised lettering on the title.
2. Publishing Date
The first edition was published in 1985. If you have a copy or are looking at one that has a publish date past 1985 then it’s not first edition.
3. Page 41 Uncensored
Now this is a guaranteed way to find out if you have a first edition copy. There is a sentence that is only included in the uncensored version on page 41.
“I understand that you were probably playing with dolls and wearing lipstick until you were twenty!”
If you have or have found a copy of “Killing Time” with all these things included then congratulations you’ve got the recalled first edition!
My Thoughts
I am *very* excited to own a copy of this book. It’s been a dream, I know silly, to own it for many years. I’ve avoided spoilers or even having the second edition of this book with the hopes that I would one day own it. I am a K/S fan of course but also as a lesbian I am curious to see if the book is truly as bad in its uncensored state as some claim. Homophobes have a way of blowing up the smallest moments. Some blog posts from the early to mid 2000s claim the book is disgusting and should’ve never been published for its content, others say it’s exaggerated and it’s mostly blink and you miss it moments. I can’t wait to see for myself!
I may leave a review of this novel after reading it. 🖖💖

With the new Dragon Age coming out, this is the first time I've ever paid attention to a game launch before. I didn't play Origins until 2016 and then didn't play Inquisition until 2021. But once I did I was hooked.. absolutely pulled in, no looking back, try to learn all the things!
So with the recent Game Informer article seemingly spoiling a couple pretty big story points, I wondered.. what did GI have to say about Origins? I bought a copy of the November 2008 edition off of Ebay (yes, I prefer physical media) to check it out.
The article starts off noting that DA was "announced over four years ago" (so, 2004?) And then re-emerged in 2008 with the new name added "Origins". Interesting!
The article goes into some detail on a Mage background origin playthrough and goes right up to the plot point that you'll eventually become a Grey Warden, and then that the battle at Ostagar starts, goes awry, and that King Cailan is grabbed by an ogre. They go on to say that they won't tell you the result of that. So that's some somewhat big spoilers for the setup of the game up till maybe 5-6 hours in?
It also has an interesting note that "the development team prototyped the entire story using the Neverwinter Nights engine" not all the gameplay but the plot, dialoge, and quests- neat!
The article doesn't share anything about companions other than they exist, some might be surprises, you might not get all of them, some will disagree with your actions and/or each other and there will be banter and a "camp" to go back to.
It then gets into some gameplay mechanics- pausing, tactical fighting, how much you can let your companion do their own fighting.
And finishes talking about how the game is providing "an extensive toolset that allows you to make your own adventures and share them with the community". Is that true though? I've seen plenty of people doing mods for better hair/skintone and cosmetic things but did people actually create adventures- I'm guessing fights or scenarios to go through? I haven't heard of that but I've really only been in the fandom since 2021.
I'm pretty interested to see now exactly how much the GI article spoiled of DA4 and what they're not telling us! Fall 2024 is so far away..

Tempted to buy $89 worth of anime DVDs from eBay. They’re from 3 different animes:
Outlaw Star all 26 episodes.
Dear Boys all 26 episodes. I just realized the DVDs I bought don’t have all the episodes. This basketball anime is old and so obscure it’s not even in any pirated websites. Maybe if I don’t like the rest of the episodes I won’t buy this but the characters look so cool!
Rurouni Kenshin season 1 and 2 of the old anime. Crunchyroll doesn’t have the old anime anymore so I want a physical copy.
I don’t have any student loans to worry about but I do have bills to pay. And I just bought $44 worth of skincare products yesterday.
Maybe I should just focus on watching animes that I can still watch on Crunchyroll but those DVDs may not be available in the future.

This isn't so much about the fma show as the media itself BUT IM SO MAD THAT ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AND STREAM FMA 03 ANYWHERE, WHY????? The og series is such a crucial part of the FMA LoreTM and despite however ppl feel about the ending the beginning arcs are so beautiful and so well animated, like it deserves to still be watched and experienced and have its own legacy outside of "brotherhoods shitty older brother". I've been trying to find the series via hard copies so I can watch it again (with some success) but eBay is full of scammers selling the DVDs at insane prices and most of the Blu rays are bootlegged (I bought one and the fourth disc didn't work so I had to return it orz)
It's just so frustrating seeing this continuous trend of good shows from the nineties and early 2000's become more and more obscure and hard to find when less than a decade ago everyone was able to see them and it was possible to at least find physical or digital media versions somewhere on the Internet or in stores. How am I supposed to recommend to my friends that they watch fma 03 before brotherhood if they can't access it anywhere???
Tldr; preservation of media is in shambles and people are going to have to pry what overpriced legit copies I've been able to get of the FMA 03 series out of my cold dead hands
ahhh that honestly is the worst and i hope that you can somehow find the series very soon . my condolences to you
i hope this helps

I'm trying to decide if I should grab BG3 for Christmas. I won't be playing it myself until after at least another playthrough and a half of Veilguard (finishing Sofia and then replaying Kaela), and that should give Brian the time to get a save at least mostly in so that he doesn't get spoiled by me playing. but I've already bought two shirts (I know they're just shirts but if they work out that's a Big Deal) and gotten a big Vudu or Fandango at home or w/e it's called now gift card to redeem digital copies of movies we have packed in storage. Even on sale, bc I'd get the deluxe version, BG3 is still like $60-something I think. Combined, that's... A lot more than I usually spend on Christmas. possibly more than he spent. And I mean, that'd be a nice change IMO, but he has Problems with me spending more than he thinks is worth it. Nevermind that I got all three things (the shirts, the Vudu credit, and hypothetically the game) at discounts (which is also important).
Also, it KILLS me to spend that much on a digital only copy. I could get a physical Japanese copy on eBay for less, but I mentioned that once before and he didn't seem to trust it.
...fake edit: he just came upstairs and said, without prompting or knowing about this post, that if I decide to play the BG3 trial that's on ps+ to please let him know first so he can see it. (Bc it's a PS+ trial it doesn't work on his account for him to try it.) I wanted to play veilguard today, since I didn't last night, but maybe this is better just to gauge his reaction before spending so much on the actual game.

Hiii there! I saw that you’ve written for Glitchy Red before on your master-list, but I’m not sure if you still write for him! If it’s okay, can you write some general headcannons about him?
Thank you! 🌙
Of course! I'm growing fonder of pokemon recently so I gotta give em some loving (this is me screaming to send me more)
Glitchy Red (General HC)
He only talks sparingly.
Due to this, he can be seen as cold, uncaring, brooding, and calculated.
Which are all true.
He's much more mentally strong than physically and spends much time doing mental workouts and strategy games.
He works with Ben on the off-chance they get assigned the same task: hacking through code to form a strategy for the next proxy mission.
Silver looks up to Red a lot, and will often go for him for advice.
Actually, Silver is one of the few people Red will hold a verbal conversation with.
The others are his own s/o and maybe Sally on a good day, considering she bribes him with friendship bracelets.
The hosts of the manor are usually pulled toward each other emotionally. They just feel more comfortable together oftentimes.
Backstorywise, Glitchy Red had a similar situation to Ben, except he was his own cult.
I'll go into it if needed, but ultimately Red died, and successfully transferred his soul into Pokemon Fire Red.
In no way did he think that through, because he was stuck in ONE copy, forever, with years going by without so much as the gameboy getting charged.
And that's when a dude bought him off eBay.

POST THE KITTYBOYS YOU COWARD. SHOW THE WORLD. LET THEM BE SHOWERED IN THE LOVE THEY DESERVE
Ah yes, my perfect beautiful emotional support kittyboys, Good and Luck!
Good is the Nyan Zieks plush keychain, because he is Good. Luck is the Nyasked Disciple, because he got real lucky many many times. They don't have tails, but Good has a butthole, so clearly this is a fair and equal trade.
The cloaks don't come off (they're sewn on at the buttons, and Luck's around his head) but the outfits underneath are as detailed as one can get with their sizes. They're not big, but their height difference is accurate to canon, which makes me happy.
Luck has Karuma as well as Vindication, which is against canon at this point in the timeline, but as they never made a Chuunosuke, I'm willing to overlook it. The swords are three layers of felt that I honestly mistook for cardboard before I touched them.
They don't quite stand on their own, but they can if leaned up against something. They seem quite sturdy for plushies, and if I have any complaints it's that Good's cloak is not made out of velvet like it is in canon (it appears to be a type of nylon or canvas?).
These are actually official plushies! You could only get them in Japan if you bought a physical copy of Chronicles on day one of release. I found them on Ebay - the only Ebay listing for them at all - and paid a good chunk of cash for them, but I'm delighted with them. They go everywhere with me that I can trust they won't be lost.

Hellverine #1 2nd printing 1:25 Cassara Virgin Variant
My goodness, do I have a mini rant about this (I'll keep it under the cut if anyone wants to skip it):
It was such a pain in the ass trying to get ahold of a copy of this!
I saw it when it was first announced a little over a month ago, right?
So, I'm like okay, it'll probably be posted on my usual ordering site (no physical shops near me, but if you follow me, you know I got a pulse on the solicits. My pull list is immaculate, things are planned and preordered MONTHS in advance).
I check every day for a week. No dice. Not posted for pre-order.
After the first couple of days during this week, I'm also casually checking other comic book sites -- either already sold out or going for a minimum of $65 to $100. Ebay pre-sales are pretty similar.
So I'm like, screw that, it isn't even out yet! The official catalog price is like $9.99, I can wait.
A month goes by, I'm checking diligently every day. There are no changes.
Then I'm like, "Okay, I just have to wait until it actually comes out" and I'm sure the shops will be selling their extra incentive copies at a more reasonable price.
Tuesday night, I'm pulling out all the stops, I'm deep-diving. I'm utilizing all the secret advanced search commands I learned in college. AND I thought I found one!
It was a listing on Google shopping for $4.99, so I'm like "Jackpot" and click "buy now" so I do, and it redirects me to checkout on the website, and I think to myself "sweet!" so I buy it.
I get my order confirmation, and IN BIG BOLD LETTERS at the top, it reads:
"PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST BUY ALL INCENTIVE QUALIFIERS TO GET A INCENTIVE COPY"
(I'm paraphasing a bit, and there was a bit more after that, but you get the idea)
So, I'm thinking "what?" and I go and actually browse the site I ordered from, and I somehow stumbled upon a wholesaler store, like the kind a comic book store would use to order bulk copies for the store.
Essentially, if I was a store, I would've placed an order for 25 main 2nd printing copies, and then I would've qualified for this incentive variant.
I was quick, and sent and email request to cancel, and got my money back, no problems. (I don't have the budget to but 25 copies of one book just to get the one I want. That's the whole reason I'm not paying $100 for a copy)
So its the day of release in my timezone. Everywhere is still sold out. Slowly but surely, the Ebay resellers begin to trickle in. Its averaging about $70 to $80.
Then I see it! By sheer luck or diligence or a wild combination of both -- there's a $20 copy. But the listing says "DEFECT" in big bold letters.
Undeterred, I think "How bad can it be?" as I don't really need a flawless copy, I just like collecting my pretties, you know?
There were pictures provided, along with the description: some of the color is faded off around the lower left staple
(circled below)
That's not shininess, its actually faded white.
So I bought it. And it arrived today. Its my wonderfully imperfect copy and I'm so happy.
As of today, the lowest is like $49.99 + shipping o Ebay. All the online shops don't have it, even though it came out less than a week ago. And its still not on my usual pre-order site.
Like, I dunno if the 2nd printing didn't sell as well, or maybe there was a manufacturing delay, but good lord, I did not expect this particular variant to be such a pain to obtain.
Like, it's only a 1:25!! I dunno how many 25s were actually printed, but my goodness. I know this is such a first world problem and I recognize at least half of the drama is self-inflicted by my own hubris and dedication to also getting a good deal.
But I'm just trying to buy a little treat for myself. damn.

SimCity 2000 from Maxis way back in 1993, when that 2000 moniker sounded very futuristic!
To be fair it did feel like a massive leap forward over the original, introducing high resolution SVGA graphics, deformable terrain, water systems management and quite a few more power generation options.
Like many of my childhood gaming memories, I first encountered this round a friends house who had a Dad that owned a PC and enjoyed playing games. Since then I've bought my own copy from GOG.com and other sources, but I'd never owned a physical copy.
I happened to stumble across a few versions available on eBay in either floppy disk or CD versions which both seem reasonably priced. However I wasn't buying a copy for me, but my eldest son who enjoys playing city builder games.
He's going to be 14 years old this year, so I thought this would be a nice memento for him to remember the times we've played SimCity 2000 together and enjoyed listening to the music through my Roland SC-55.
The physical box I bought was in very good condition. However it did have some sticker residue left on the box and generally felt a little grubby. So I reached for my trusty bottle of isopropanol alcohol and some paper towel to give the whole box a gentle rub down,
Yuck, that's years worth of handling and human grime finding a new home on my paper towel.
Much better, looks almost as good as new. Ready to be wrapped up as a birthday present.

Debating should I make scans?
I remember coming across this on eBay one day back in 2018. I remember going through a huge Dr. Blackjack phrase and randomly bought these transcripts by a seller. Based on Ova episode 9 and 10.
Then around 2019 I was informed by Mary and Les Claypool who work on original English dub on Black Jack OVAs was coming to Saboten Con.
I decided to get their autographs and confirm this was their manager who passed away!? They think whoever cleaned his stuff out was his family selling off. But yeah they mention before everything goes digital, many physical copies are just toss in the trash and not thinking be worth keeping.
Don't know. Worth preservation?
