i simply do think there is an important tonal difference between tacking on "girl" or "boy" etc. as a qualifer to an otherwise ungendered word as a silly little tongue-in-cheek joke that functions primarily to emphasize the arbitrary + constructed nature of such gendering versus tacking on "girl" or "boy" etc. in an earnest attempt to define how something that everyone does takes on a new set of gendered characteristics when a smaller, certain group of people do it
#ie 'girlblogging' vs 'female rage'#but also don't necessarily think i can claim that certain terms are always jokey and certain terms are always earnest#im sure there are people who are satirizing female rage + people who earnestly believe that 'girlblogging' is like...a Real Thing#mostly just a case-by-case basis looking @ how someone's using the term#BUT. there are definitely terms that large groups of people tend to use v earnestly lol#anyway. just pondering.....#txt
