I was in the qsmp fandom! Not that i ever posted anything while i was in it, but i was watching streams everyday and trying to get every piece of lore i could.

The qsmp ending is actually what got me into dsmp, which made me come back into doing digital art :-)

in the vein of those "try jokingly hyping yourself up instead of being self-deprecating" posts, my number one Feeling Good Life Hack is to get free compliments by complimenting yourself

example: I made my friend a bunch of pairs of earrings for her birthday once. Sometimes when I see her wearing them, I'll say "whoa, I love your earrings, someone really cool must have made those!" She'll usually grin and agree that someone really cool did make them, or that she likes them too.

this is of course best deployed with people who know it was you who actually made/did the thing you're complimenting, so they're in on the "joke" part. and if they're your friend they'll pretty much always jump on board and take the chance to compliment That Mysterious Cool Person who made/did whatever you're pointing out. so you get to compliment yourself, get compliments from other people, and make people laugh all in one.

also, if you do this enough to make this an inside joke between you, then they'll sometimes just start offering you free compliments without you even having to do the Bit. sometimes i'll just be like "oh! your earrings!" when i notice my friend wearing a pair that i made, and she'll go "yeah, someone very cool made them for me :)"

Anyway as much as I do appreciate westerners taking an interest in Chinese culture it sometimes feels like my culture is just viewed as an art piece. Chinese people and culture are not artworks on display for western viewers’ pleasure. We are very real people, with very real culture, and as someone who has been overseas and removed from my culture for a good portion of my life it sometimes hurts when CN culture is just viewed as surface level “pretty” or heaven forbid “aesthetic,” when it’s so much more than that.

I was wondering if you had any thoughts/feelings/snippets about Max/Kate? No pressure if not. I have so many feelings about Life is Strange in general lol. Also your writing rules.

i've actually never written any marshfield which is a crime considering they're what got me into lis and i've had them living in my brain rent free for almost 10 years now [shudders] but i Do have plenty of thoughts/headcanons!

– they have big silly puppy crushes on each other that are very obvious to everyone except, of course, them. “oh there's No way on earth she would like me back” x2 Combo. in the Blackwell 4-koma that exists in my mindpalace there'd be a running gag where the sheer force of their unaware-yet-wholesome yuri vibes is literally blinding to anyone who witnesses it 

– Kate is still in the middle of her catholicism-induced “girl?? 👀 girl Looking at me??? 🤯🌈¿? i'm going to die” phase, so the fact that Max is always doing little things like holding the door for her or asking how her day went or walking her to class even though her own is on the opposite side of the building just because she wants to talk more Earnestly keeps Kate up at night. (and then when she looks tired the next morning Max will say “are you alright?” with those big adorable doe eyes she is completely unaware she makes and Kate has a combination cardiac event and crisis of faith all before the first bell)

– they like to have lunch together when Kate isn't too busy w other school stuff. Kate is a creature of habit and always gets a cookie even though she knows she won't finish it all, so she appreciates having Sweet-Tooth Caulfield around to share it with <3

– Max keeps mysteriously finding excuses to be out in the halls when Kate is practicing her violin. everybody who asks winds up humoring her due to her sheer dedication to floundering denial but they all know she's down bad (except Kate, of course.)

– Chloe tried to bring up The Elephant In The Room once when they were all hanging out watching a movie one time & she was reaching her Limit being blinded by the aforementioned wholesome yuri vibes so she says, “Man, you guys need to get over yourselves and make out sloppy style.” and Max is like, “Chloe Elizabeth Price you better shut your goddamn mouth before I shut it for you,” (and Kate has a momentary second, smaller crisis about the name Elizabeth) but Chloe being Chloe does not in fact shut up and winds up getting wwe flying elbow smashed with a pillow to the face while Kate dissolves out of frame like a cartoon from sheer embarrassment 

– Kate really likes to draw Max. she'll be sitting there doodling her all over a page of her sketchbook thinking, “i just think her face is cute and nice to draw and there's absolutely nothing more to read into on this topic. on an unrelated note, what if i drew a little heart next to her? 🤯🌈¿? oh my god i'm going to die.”

– aside from Chloe, Kate is one of the only people who can decrease Max's anxiety 50% just by being in the room & she's more aware of this than Max is. Kate is pretty grounded/has the patience of a saint and tends to give really good advice so she has a particular knack for combating Max's overthinking; when Max is feeling brave enough to actually talk about The Anxieties, at least. but even if she's trying to keep them all to herself Kate still notices something is up and is careful to be extra gentle with her
