Thinking about this again:

Kira would be a pack a day smoker, whether shes angry or happy shes lighting up. Although she’d smoke much faster when shes mad. Odo would hate the smell at first but eventually get used to it and even find comfort in it.

Garak would smoke in a French way if you know what I mean. He would use a cigarette as a punctuation mark on his whole dangerous, mysterious, and cultured facade. Julian would lecture him to no end about it but he’d secretly think it was really hot. After a certain point Garak would make a point to spark up whenever they saw each other just to be nuisance (and because no matter how annoyed he pretends to be he finds Julian’s concern for his wellbeing very sweet and gratifying)

Jadzia would only smoke almost exclusively after sex or while drinking. She has a certain joie de vivre and that would translate to how she smokes. She wouldn’t even consider it when sad or angry. Worf would hate it but know theres nothing he can say or do to get her to stop so he’d learn to live with it, although it would probably be the subject of a small fight early on in their relationship.

Quark would only smoke cigars and only socially. He wouldn’t care much for tobacco but he would appreciate the added layer of charm and charisma it would give him, especially while doing business. This would probably be customary on Ferenginar and nobody in his life would bat an eye.

Jake would always have a cigarette tucked away behind his ear and be more prone to smoking when anxious or focused on a story. Sometimes it could result in chain smoking, especially during the editing process. He would have to sneak around Sisko when they lived together, and would have kept it a secret until he moved in with Nog, who would then complain about it enough that it would get back to Sisko. It would result in whole conversation, but ultimately Sisko would (begrudgingly) understand that Jakes an adult who can make his own decisions, just with the caveat that he doesn’t want to see or smell it on him ever.
