This scene at the end of “I Am Still.”

The significance of this scene.

It didn’t have to be in the movie. It honestly almost seemed out of place. It shows Jimin’s reaction to JK’s new shaved head. They could have also shown Tae and Joon’s reaction, and given us a whole montage, but they didn’t. But showing Jimin’s reaction was important to JK. It was important because Jimin is important to JK.

They could have shown any other Jimin/JK interaction, but they showed us how Jimin reacted to seeing this new JK. This HUGE change is about to happen in their lives, and this haircut was the first step. When an engagement or a pregnancy is announced - whose reaction is recorded? The people you’re closest to - family, loved ones. Jimin is that. He is family - a loved one to JK. And recording his reaction to this notable step needed to be done.

I love them for that.

This cutest of clips from I am Still has been floating round Twitter for a couple of days. Jimin is shocked but is still so reassuring, and the way JK leans into Jimin while he touches his head reminds us of the complete trust between them.

It's pretty difficult not to focus on the JM tattooed on his finger...

Took a little break from thinking too hard. Sometimes its necessary.

I had to travel a little way to see I Am Still yesterday.

Jungkook was Jungkook as usual. We were already aware of the events the docu covers, actually lived them along with him, watched them as they happened, but the film served to fill in some spaces, add context and let us in on personal details we wouldn't have ever known.

At his age, Jungkook still has this aura of wholesomeness, I don't want to say innocence but just an authentic honesty in expressing himself. A lack of self-conceit. He knows he must uphold a certain level of responsibility as a member of BTS and he has no problem making it the thing that everything else revolves around.

His desire to be a giant pop star does not supersede his role as a member of BTS, it walks hand-in-hand in that his life with BTS (and Army) has afforded him the opportunity to achieve his own personal ambitions in his life's journey. Jungkook the pop star and Jungkook of BTS exists at the same time in him, along with Jungkook the introvert, Jungkook the foodie, Jungkook with his curiously fascinated inner child. And Jungkook the yin to Jimin's yang.

We are experiencing this part of his life with him. Personally, I feel privileged that he's included us in so much, that he's felt this free in sharing so much.

Of course, there is so much more we don't know and never will but I always look forward to everything the members give to us and show us because everything we see helps us understand who they are, what their likes and dislikes are, how they view the world and their place in it.

After Jungkook's first live back on February 1, 2023, all the other lives, Are You Sure and up until yesterday's showing of I Am Still, it is clear that Jimin is Jungkook's touchstone, his partner through at least this part of his life. We can't know what the future holds, I would never dare to assume what their own personal desires or goals are for themselves, but I do know that Jimin will play a big part in it and I hope we still get to see some of that play out when it happens.

Yesterday there were no more tumblers or popcorn buckets, no photocards, but it didn't matter. I was happy to see the documentary. I ordered the book last week or two? and that's the fastest photobook shipment ever, got it in two days from Cinemark.

Can't wait for my Are You Sure photobook to get here in a week or so. In the meantime, I will scrounge the timeline for scraps!
