It is time to announce the final results of the OUaW Poll (spoiler alert, tumblr is the only site that matters)
Here we are folks! The OUaw Favorite Character poll has concluded and to no one's suprise, Torbek won. The sites polled were Reddit, Discord, and Tumblr.
Discord had the lowest votes, but also the most even split, as well as being the only poll where Torbek didn't win.
Reddit REALLY loves Torbek, with him having over 50% of the votes. this is also the only poll that Gricko didn't score last in. (Justice for my boy)
There is nothing Tumblr users love more than voting on silly little polls, and this was no different. Early on, Torbek was the clear favorite, but 2nd place was a LOT more contentious. It went back and forth between Frost and Kremy, which I'm tempted to attribute to @mewtillidae 's Kremy a day. Gricko and Gideon were likewise battling it out for 4th until early on day 3, when our favorite fire himbo pulled ahead. Many voters expressed suprise at Gricko being last. Stay tuned for the Stardust Rhapsody poll that I will inevitably attempt to rig in Pyke's favor.

the PH elections situation
I don’t usually post anything here and only mostly reblog fandom stuff but I need to get this out. The world needs to know what the Philippines is going through these past months, and especially recently with our elections last May 10, 2022. Please reblog / share / boost if you can, on whatever social media site there is.
I hope the world knows what we’re going through. I hope the world knows how we’ve been scammed, how we’ve been given an illusion of a fair democratic vote. It’s all been rigged in favor of a son of a former dictator, who has no diploma, lied about having a diploma, and doesn’t even have one concrete platform to offer. Literally. I am not joking when I say he has zero platforms to offer except “unity”, and yet millions of other Filipinos voted for him. And to explain further, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. or “BBM” is the son of former president and dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., whose administration brought our country into a large debt and economic downfall that hasn’t been paid ‘til now. Those who spoke out against his regime were tortured and killed under their declaration of Martial Law, while their family lived lavish lives with taxpayer money. I cannot say everything they’ve done with the money because it’s a LOT, but I invite you to instead watch The Kingmaker, a documentary that shows exactly what happened in this era. Below is also another infographic summarizing the economy during the Marcos regime, but a single picture cannot not give full justice to the experiences of those who died fighting for their rights. If you want more information about this, feel free to message me or do your own research.

I am incredibly mad at the result, and I want to get mad at those who voted for him. But at the same time, I can only blame the decades of misinformation, fake news, and historical revisionism the Marcos family has been building for so long. Their biggest opposition, Leni Robredo, was destroyed even before she ran because of years of fake news against her. There is also a rampant problem of a crappy education system here in the Philippines. In 2019, we ranked lowest in reading comprehension among 79 other countries. Our government does not do anything about it because, to quote late Filipino politician Miriam Defensor Santiago...
(text: picture of late Filipino politician Miriam Defensor Santiago, with her quote that says, “I have realized why corrupt politicians do nothing to improve the quality of public school education. They are terrified of educated voters.”)
They are taking advantage of this by spreading fake news & misinformation because they know that Filipinos aren’t educated enough to do their own research or even read the news properly. Not only that, but the election day itself was very sketchy, with numerous official reports saying that there were “malfunctioning vote counting machines” that couldn’t even be replaced. Voters were told to leave their ballots behind so that the poll officials themselves could put it in the machines “when they’re fixed”, which was complete bullshit, by the way, as there are videos of ballots being shredded & ripped. The statistics of the votes show that the gap of percentages have been coincidentally the same everywhere, which is statistically impossible. It’s blatant cheating & lies right in front of our eyes. I can only blame the upper class that’s been controlling the Philippines for so long.
It makes me mad that a rich politician from an infamously corrupt family is winning the elections despite having no diploma and having no concrete platforms. I and other Filipinos feel depressed, as if we’re wasting our education and hard work. Why study if someone who doesn’t have a diploma can become president, while his supporters tell us “It’s just a paper”? While I understand that educational background could sometimes be an elitist standard to hold when choosing leaders, what makes me pissed now is that BBM is a privileged, rich son of a fascist dictator that was born into riches, and grew up into riches still. No effort, no nothing.
Please pray for the Philippines. The partial, unofficial results have shown that BBM is winning, but the official results from manual counting are just coming in. News reports from other countries are pitying us, some are laughing at our situation, and I feel ashamed that, if ever he does win, we’d have to suffer through six years under him. There is still so much bullcrap going on in PH politics that deserves a whole post on its own, heck maybe its own tumblr blog archive. His possible presidency is just one of the many reasons why Filipinos on your feed or tl on social media are getting mad over our elections. But for now, I want the world to know about this first. Please spread the news. We’re crying over here and if our own countrymen refuse to listen, we hope the rest of the world does.
(image from CinemaBravo on Facebook. it says: “Time and forgetfulness are the allies of abusers.”)
To my fellow Filipinos... Alam ko mahirap talaga ngayon. Mahirap mahalin ang bansa ngayon, mahirap lumaban, mahirap na rin mabuhay. Pero lumaban pa rin tayo. The moment we give up is another opportunity for them to push themselves further. Walang aalis ng bansa. Pupunta pa tayo ng EDSA, whether physically or spiritually. We will fight once again, and we will win against the Marcoses, just as we have before. Hindi tayo ang aalis, sila ang paaalisin natin. Mahigpit na yakap.
