The Fates Bracket Qualifier! Starts September 11th at 3pm EDT

Here's how it's going to work:

There are going to be 10 qualifying polls (six for the men, four for the women)

Pick your favorite from each poll

Polls will run for one week (I’d prefer 3 days but alas Tumblr doesn’t offer the option yet)

The top 32 male characters and the top 32 female characters will qualify for the men’s and women’s brackets

Characters who are excluded from voting:

Anyone who obviously both looks and acts like a literal child. Some characters are borderline so discretion may be used

Generics

Anyone who lacks either a portrait or a unique name

Characters not in human form (e.g. Human!Anankos is included but Dragon!Anankos is not)

Characters who are technically included in Fates via Einherjar or Amiibo, but would fit better with another game's poll (e.g. Marth)

*Yes I know Nyx looks young, but considering she's canonically very old + her entire thing is that she actually acts her age even if she doesn't look it, I've decided to allow her

**Forrest canonically refers to himself as a man so he's going with the men

***Hana and Effie are not included because they are canonically supposed to be around the same age as Sakura and Elise respectively. Given the absolute oldest Sakura can possibly be is ~15 (and Elise is likely younger) it seemed fair to exclude them too.

The Great Knights of Conquest

So I had a crazy idea the other day: to play through Conquest, but every unit is a Great Knight.

And now, I’ve finally done it! Everyone (’cept Shura ‘cause I forgot about Corrinsexuals) has now been turned into a Great Knight. This is done without any hacking, only with Partner Seals and Friendship Seals.

Why Great Knight? Because it’s possible to turn every unit on the Conquest route into one. You can also do this with Hero. But I picked Great Knight over Hero for more weapon options.

(Shura is hanging out as a Bow Knight, trying to blend in.. eh, close enough I guess. I haven’t and am not going to recruit Izana ‘cause he can’t be on horseback)

^ And cutscenes are hilarious as well. I’m working on getting the Armored Shell for everyone.

Since everyone is a Great Knight, I don’t have a healer, having to rely on items to heal (I have a lot of money from the Gold DLC I used to grind for supports). It’s not too bad if I’m careful about weapon match-ups, since everyone has good Defense and I’m playing on Normal. At least, not yet.. I’m on chapter 23 now, we’ll see if I can get through the endgame. My biggest problem are mages; most of my units have crap Res and I have limited ranged weapons.

I wanted to try something like this for Birthright too, but I can’t find a class that everyone (excluding Corrinsexuals) can become. The closest is Kinshi Knight, but one of Felicia/Orochi/Rinkah cannot get Kinshi Knight except by marrying MU, but since they’re first gen it means one kid will not exist...

Conquest Lunatic guide: Pairings and Paralogues

In which I’ll go over my pairings, why I picked them, when I’ll likely do the respective paralogues, and whether or not I’ll actually use their kid.

Avatar x Jakob (Doing both Kana and Dwyer after Ch16): As explained previously, Evasive Partner works pretty well with a Swordmaster Avatar to make a neat dodge-tank. Chances are, later incarnations of Takumi will have a hard time going above 10% Hit on her and tbh that’s enough for me. Though if you want to, Gunter is also an excellent choice for a more offensive apporach. Probably not gonna use either of their kids though, I feel they just aren’t all that outstanding compared to other units I could be fielding instead. Their paralogues will be mostly for support grinding.

Elise x Odin (Doing Ophelia ASAP): Literally just there to get the paralogue for the rare and elusive tomes and scrolls inside. That’s it, that’s their whole purpose.

Effie x Arthur (Doing Percy after Ch16): It was fairly easy to accomplish, gives Effie a nice boost for earlygame and the paralogue has a lot of money in it. Doing it after Ch16 so I have Xander for it. Percy’s hitting the bench.

Niles x Mozu (Doing Nina after Ch21): Quick Draw Bow Knight. Shurikenbreaker later. Am I talking about Mozu or Nina? Well, both, even though Mozu’s going back to Sniper after getting Shurikenbreaker. Doing the paralogue after 20 so that Nina starts with D in swords and can use the Armorslayer on occasion. She would have that after Ch20 already, but since Ch21 is going to be cheesed with solo Xander anyways there’s little point in not waiting to get her a free two levels.

Azura x Kaze (Doing Midori after Ch16 if they have S rank by then, and Shigure after Ch21): A filler pair, honestly. I want Midori for her paralogue’s Dragon Herbs and Shigure for his Rally Spd, which after Ch21 he’ll get without having to level up at all. And with Azura’s dancing she can just grind up their support whenever the boss is stationary and there’s no time limit.

Camilla x Benny (Doing Ignatius at some point whenever I could use some levels, probably after Ch19): Mobility for Benny, incredible bulk for Camilla. Ignatius suffers the same fate as a lot of the other children though; his paralogue’s just for some grinding.

Leo x Felicia (Doing Forrest after Ch21 or something): Felicia gives Leo a nice boost to Mag and Spd, and Forrest isn’t going to turn out half bad either and will likely replace Elise. Plus, his Paralogue gives Gazak and if you need me to tell you why a Certain Blow Berserker with fifty fucktons of HP is fucking amazing then you’re unfortunately just bad at Fates, period.

Xander x Charlotte (Doing Siegbert whenever I need levels. Or not at all cause his paralogue is kind of a bitch to deal with): Massive Str and Spd bonuses for Xander, plus access to Fighter!Hero, in particular HP+5 and Sol. Probably one of, if not the objectively best pairing in the game.

This means that this guide will NOT cover the paralogues of Sophie and Soleil, though if you want me to add them I could always save to a different slot, grind up Silas’ and Laslow’s support rank via DLC and do the paralogues then.
