2, 15, 19 :)
THANK YOU ICON! :D
2: top five books of all time? I am so indecisive oh no 😭
1. The Secret History
I am obsessed with people who are horrible and gay
2. Pride and Prejudice and Emma
I am a basic bitch, but Pride and Prejudice made me get back into reading 🥰 and Emma is basically a irl shipper from tumblr but in the regency era, and I love that for her.
3. The six of crows duology
They are my messed up little found family
4. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating
I love girlfriends 🥰
5. The Picture of Dorian Gray
Again, I love gay people who are also horrible (and Basil)
15: recommend and review a book:
OKAYOKAY, I’m still reading this one currently, but when I was a fetus (I just googled everything about it at like age 12 🦧) I was obsessed with ‘Journey to the West’ which is a 2,000 page classic 🕺 it sounds threatening but luckily the popular translation split it into four books!
Is it very long and tedious, but but it’s a very fun time, where else are you going to get a story where two of the main characters drink water and get pregnant from it? 😫 or have a chaotic Monkey god who bullies people for sport? It is truly iconic <3
19: most disliked popular books?
This isn’t very surprising, but it’s definitely Colleen Hoover. I can definitely see why people would like it, but all her characters kinda felt 2D to me (such as Lily Bloom being a Florist, Laylas sister marrying a guy named Chad Kyle just to showcase he’s a fuckboy etc etc), and her love interest are usually very 🤨🤨 I also dislike her writing style a lot 😭
again I can totally see why someone would love her books because they are just filled with drama, but that’s just not what I look for when I want to read romance.

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Sarah Ellen Parsons
Sarah Ellen Parsons has 18 X-Files stories at Gossamer and 19 at AO3. If you want high quality fic with interesting characters, go read her stories. Some of my favorites of her fics are The Crouching Thing and My Constant Touchstone Who Makes Me A Whole Person (which are two very different stories!). Big thanks to Sarah Ellen for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
With today's binge-watching culture, I'm not at all surprised. You can watch a bunch of eps and then seek out fic that is where you are in the series.
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
I took away a writer's group Yes, Virginia, that is still together.  Mostly as friends, but whenever I write something, or someone else writes something, it's the first place we all run for machete beta. I have betad SO MANY novels.
We have a number of folks who are published writers since then and our time in X-Files fic brought us lifelong friendships IRL and made us all better at our craft. The majority of those folks were better writers than I am. And I make my living as a writer in my day-job.
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
I belonged to a couple of the largest lists and posted there and bitched about the show on usenet with everyone else.  We had our own Yahoo group for beta.  We all had crappy GeoCities websites that we programmed the HTML for ourselves and hooked through various fandom link circles to get traffic to our stories.  But the main method of distribution was the lists.
Fun fact, I found a free page counter thing that I used at work one time through fandom. So fandom pays off in skillz.
Even without social media, we managed to get our stories in front of readers who would enjoy them. Where there's a will, there's always someone ready to step up and find a way.
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
Again, I have lifelong friends IRL that I got solely from fanfiction. That's the best takeaway.
Fandom disappointed me because it, like everything else, is ruined by people's egos, backstabbing, and petty people who get in positions of power and then use those positions to punch down or dictate. I was young when I was writing X-Files and I still had hope that people would rise to their better natures, so I got involved in various futile efforts to try to make people behave the way I wanted them to behave, I guess. I did a lot of public bitching that didn't serve me or my friends well. I now put that effort into politics, where it does actual good.
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
X-files was made for me. It combined science fiction, mystery, horror.  I love all of those genres. Plus there was Scully. No matter how sexist that writer's room was, Scully was awesome. But you kept seeing bad writing. Even in the heyday seasons, like Season 3, there were really terrible eps that made you want to fix things.
I'm a lifelong speculative fiction fan and a published feminist science fiction author. I actually was published before I fell down the fic hole. I got involved in fanfic due to getting my fantasy novel turned down from every major publisher for being "too dark". And I needed to get readers to see my stuff to prove to myself that I wasn't terrible at writing. I got a ton of feedback and it was like market research to see what people wanted to read.
My time in fanfiction made me 100% a better writer than I was.
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
I went to the X-Files Expo to see if I could make contact with someone from Harper Collins because the tie-in novels sucked so hard.  I got rejected with my pitch as I didn't have a literary agent.
Around that time, a pal who I watched X-Files with IRL was looking for a free X-files wallpaper for her work computer when she found the website where fans in Pennsylvania had fic archived. She read some and wrote to me - "you need to see this, and you can do better."  So I started reading and was.... I probably CAN do better. So I wrote The Batman Plot. And made two friends I'm still friends with with that one story.
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
Nonexistent.  I couldn't even watch the latest season and I saw only 2 of season one of whatever that was before I gave up. I have never watched the second movie.
X-files is my first fandom bad ex-husband. I loved it SO MUCH, but it betrayed me.
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
I was deep into Harry Potter for a while, but I didn't end up publishing anything in it. All my stories were novel-length and I was writing so much for work, I never completed anything. I called Snape/Lily when Prisoner of Azkaban was published and got Jossed by Rowling in one of my big ideas. (This is bad fandom ex-husband 2. JKR will never get a dime of money from me again because of her hateful stance on transfolk. I have RL friends who are trans and NO.)
I wrote fic in Supernatural. It was the obvious next thing after X-Files. However, the misogyny and bringing in all the Angel/Devil Christofascist stuff lost me. The ep where they declared all other religions other than Christianity as invalid and killed a Hindu god made me stop watching for good. I know enough Christofascists IRL that I can't tolerate it in my fiction. (Bad fandom ex-husband 3)
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
This list is far too long to actually make.  But characters I spent time writing about include: Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Co. (I wrote three unpublished Star Trek novels before I found online fandom). King Arthur and Morgan Le Fay, Sherlock Holmes (I wrote a Sherlock Holmes play after seeing "Crucifer of Blood" and entered it in a national competition, where I got very nice comments back.), Mulder, Scully and Krycek, Rowling's Hermione and Snape (like him or not, its masterful characterization), Dean and Sam Winchester, John Winchester and Bobby Singer.  I wrote one comedy story starring Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  A couple of Roswell stories under a different name. Catwoman and Batman. I have some unpublished Avengers fanfic lying around as I'm an OG Marvel fan with a massive comic collection.
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
I was on a business trip a few years ago and FX had a marathon and I watched part of it when I was in my hotel room. Early seasons are comforting, but I don't go back there now.
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
I don't read X-Files fic anymore. I read a tiny bit of Star Wars after the second movie because Rian Johnson had it right. Now I don't care. I love Mandalorian, but am content to watch.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
Too many to count.  All of YV. Which reminds me, I need to go update our entry at Fanlore. I promised Punk I'd do it a while back.  I need to at least get everyone linked.  Right now it's only Punk and Sab.
But it was a ton of us.  Marasmus, Maria Nicole, Cofax, CazQ, M. Sebasky, Livia Balaban, Kelly Keil, Wen, Ropobop, Jess Mabe, JET, fialka, and a bunch of others that I can't remember their fic names any more, just their real names because I know them all IRL. I need to go back and look up their fic names and link them up there.
In addition to my little group of pals, I loved reading Mustang Sally and Rivka T, Rachel Anton - I keep trying to find her to encourage her to write romance if she's not doing it already, but no dice, Dasha K., Anjou, there were so many great ones, but their names have slipped my mind in the past 20 years.
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
I'm most known for Prone, and I'm proud of that story for all kinds of reasons, but I think my very best is The Crouching Thing.
I mostly didn't publish anything I didn't think was good and hadn't been machete betaed within an inch of its life, but I'm not sure much of the angsty romance stuff holds up as well. I think it worked when the show was still ON and we were all in that emotional headspace, but probably not now.
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
Funny you ask. I am currently reworking a plot idea I had for an X-Files fic into a contemporary M/M novel, which I will publish under a different pen-name. The plot is the idea I had for X-Files, the characters are very, very different other than one is uptight and the other more easy-going. But no more Mulder and Scully.
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
I have been making my living as a writer for 25 years. I write the word count equivalent of 5 Tolkein novels a year, just for my day-job.  I am turning back to original fiction, which is where I was before X-Files.  I'm working on the M/M thing, a high fantasy thing, a low fantasy historical thing and a bunch of M/F Regency romances as I get time and energy.  I publish Fantasy and SF under my real name. Romance has pen names as you don't want that getting back to your workplace, either.
SEP is fic only and here she will stay.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
I have too many ideas to count.  I try to write them down when they come, so I won't forget. At least the outline of the idea. Often a scene. I've been like this my entire life. I started writing novels seriously at 15. I wrote a 500 plus page one about Morgan Le Fay during breaks in high school because "Mists of Avalon" pissed me off so bad as I'd read the original source material and that was a Wicca recruitment polemic.
What's the story behind your pen name?
Sarah Ellen was my great-grandma, Parsons was her grandma's last name.
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
Half my friends ARE fic friends. Most of my friends know as does my brother, who thinks writing for free is dumb. This is universally agreed on by non-fic friends who know. My mother still doesn't know about the fic. Just the "real" writing.  I write under a pen name to keep it away from my job and my published work.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
My X-files stuff is up on Gossamer mostly. I'm trying to get the stories all moved to AO3 for all the genres. I'm working on this now.  SEP is really not a living thing anymore, but there was a time when she was more me than me.
If you want to find my "real" non-fic writing, write to me at se_parsons at yahoo dot com and I will point you at it.
And PLEASE someone, hunt down Rachel Anton and get her writing something we all can BUY.  Where are my old Krycek bitches at?  Do any of you know where she is? [Lilydale note: I’ve tried contacting Rachel Anton for this Old School X project but have not had luck. I would love to find her too!]
Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
The community I loved has mostly moved on, but I think we left a legacy of solid work crafted out of our love for the show.  Find a living community you love for a show you love.  There are great people out there creating and get involved.  It will be worth it.

Bridgerton - My Take
Words cannot express what it’s like to wait 20 years for to see something you never actually thought would get made and then have it turn out as wonderfully as it did. This is not spoiler free and these thoughts are just going to spill out as they come to me:
Casting is spot on. So happy! I did not find a single character disappointing, and when a character didn’t match my mental image from the book I usually like the show character better.
Costumes are amazing!
Francesca is STILL the forgotten Bridgerton! Where is Francesca??? Also apparently forgotten? Felicity Featherington, the youngest daughter of the Featherington clan. Maybe they’re keeping her locked in the nursery because she must be even younger than Hyacinth.
I hadn’t remembered Marina from TSPWL so having her marry Phillip was a twist I didn’t see coming. I hadn’t made the mental connection with her paramour, sir George, having the same surname. But as she drove away with him there was that dreadful feeling of knowing how that was all going to turn out, which made the trek at that much better.
My problem with the Marina/Phillip twist is that she was supposed to be a Bridgerton cousin and NOT a Featherington cousin. So, when she dies, Eloise is compelled to write her condolences to Phillip which sparks their correspondence. With the changes, I can’t see what impetus they’ll use to start their relationship. Eloise should feel no sadness at her loss since (a) theyre not related, (b) she never really befriended Marina and (c) Marina freaking tried to trap her brother into a deceptive marriage. I hope this isn’t a cross-that-bridge-when-we-get-to-it writer’s moment.
Why do the bullets get farther and farther apart every time I hit return?
Okay that’s better
Even I was surprised at the graphic level of sex. And I’ve watched Spartacus! 😂 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and bravo for not making it all about tits and bush.
I didn’t have a problem with Anthony’s overprotectiveness, tbh. And didn’t see it as OOC. Since his father’s death he’s been the defacto father figure (he’s the only dad Hyacinth has ever known) but I think they wanted to demonstrate that he’s (a) taking his responsibility seriously but that (b) he’s way out of his depth and doesn’t actually know what he’s doing. Also there’s the irony that he will have to face off with Kate next season, who takes her responsibility of protecting her sister, Edwina, with all the same gusto — especially from him. So he’ll get to be on the other side of it. That tickled me a bit.
I tried to find the balance between empathizing with Siena while also not investing emotionally in that relationship. What an untenable position to be a woman without status amongst powerful men. How terrifying to have such an uncertain future. Even a society spinster would likely live to serve as a conpanion or chaperone to a richer relative and thus be taken care of — but an opera singer who’s value diminishes with each passing year...I can’t imagine.
Not a fan of how they demonized Nigel Berbrooke. They took a hapless, socially challenged but otherwise honorable man and turned him into a villain. Because he wasn’t written as a romantic hero perse, I never wanted him to end up with the heroine, but I was satisfied when I read that he eventually did find his match in the books. I never had anything against him.
Prince Freiderich should get his own season. Or book. Hate to see a handsome, gentle and kind man go to waste like that. Especially one that actually WANTS to marry and have kids.
Cressida Cowper, you twat. 🤣🤣 even regency period had their mean girls.
Phoebe Dyneover reminds me so much of Claire Foy in the first season of the Crown. Very similar speech patterns.
I’m not down for flipping the sexualities of any of the canon characters. But I am down with Ally-Benedict who learns to accept and empathize with his queer friends and even takes personal risks to help cover for them when necessary.
I loved that Colin asks Penelope to dance and NOT because Violet always forced him to, like she does in the first few books.
I would love for Sophie to be Asian/Indo-Pak. Casting director take note.
I almost wish they hadn’t named the show Bridgerton. Bridgerton of course has the name recognition all book fans clamor for, but if this show were to magically go on (and on) it leaves out the possibility of “How to Marry a Marquis” or “What Happens in London Stays in London”, etc... I want ALL the Julia Quinn. What’s so bad about that?
I kept my expectations low, tbh and tried to keep in mind that translating from page to screen often requires some finessing, so I’m not going to bitch about every little plot change they made to tell their story. I feel blessed that I got to see these characters brought to life.
Now for some likely unpopular opinions:
Here’s a fact: for better or for worse these books were not written for an lgbtq target audience. They just weren’t. So don’t expect more than the passing nod to the existence of gays or trans people living lives of quiet desperation in the ranks of regency society. Don’t expect them to turn Eloise and Penelope into secret lovers. They won’t. Because the people who have been steady fans, who have purchased these books every time a new cover comes out with their hard earned money, will not stand for their beloved characters suddenly diverging so far from canon. I think some divergence from canon is allowable but changing the core of the character and their romance story will likely not go well. Don’t suddenly expect Benedict to burst out of the closet just because he joins an artist colony.
Honestly, I can’t be bothered to get incensed by Daphne getting Simon to come inside of her. I just can’t. I’ll save my moral outrage for the idea that she was legally his property. That a husband could beat his wife with a cane and she would have no legal leg to stand on. That women were so uneducated about sex that men could so easily manipulate women to get what they want. That a man could toss his wife down a flight of stairs, call it an accident, be married again in a few months and the only consequence he’d face would be the whispers and side eyes from society. And, most of all, that in society’s eyes a woman’s only value was in her ability to conceive and bear children, and not even in whether or not she might live long enough to raise them!! So the fact that he couldn’t control his ejaculation long enough to throw off a woman he outweighed by easily fifty pounds...? Boo-fucking-hoo on your male privilege and vastly unbalanced power dynamic. Sorry, not sorry. She did what she thought she had to do to be of value in the society that raised her. She didn’t make the rules, she was just living by them. I’m not interested in a debate on this point. It’s my opinion and you’re entitled to keep your own - on your own blog.
How long do we have to wait to hear if we get a season 2?

Lost At Sea: A List of WIP’s I am finally letting go of [ Part 2 ]
[ Part 1 ]
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Very Sincerely Yours by semaphoredrivethru
Summary: Terrified at the prospect of humiliating himself in front of the ton and completely ruining his first season with his crippling shyness, omega Stiles Stilinski does the only thing he can; he invents a sweetheart away at war. A completely fictitious and utterly gorgeous captain, a gentlemanly paragon of romance and adoration, an alpha with whom Stiles spends years "exchanging" letters.Years later, an angry, war-battered Derek Hale shows up at Stiles's door. He's no gentleman, and vehemently denies the existence of anything remotely resembling romance. He's received every last letter and has come to collect on Stiles's promises of home and marriage, no matter what.
Last Updated: 2018
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Sterek
Personal Notes: AHHHHH, THERE’S NOTHING I LIKE MORE THAN A GOOD REGENCY BODICE RIPPER AU. HOW UNFORTUNATE THAT THIS ONE NEVER GOT FINISHED. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD START TOO, I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. AHHHHHHH SO SAD.
Sold by onlyastoryteller
Summary: The government has passed two significant acts that eliminate the rights of convicted felons. When Peter Burke learns that Neal Caffrey's Work Contract has been purchased by a private citizen, he springs into action.
Last Update: 2018
Fandom & Main Pairing: White Collar ; Baffery
Personal Notes: While this fic is amazing and it hasn’t been THAT long since it was last updated (trust me, I’ve held on to fics for over 5 years on the hope it’d get updated lmao), this fandom and pairing just doesn’t interest me anymore; mostly because The Bullshit Season really turned me off from the show.
Sypha’s Boys by ShifterCat
Summary: “Back in the tomb under Greşit, Alucard asked you about that prophecy involving him. And… you blushed.”“O-oh.” That brought her up short. “Yes. That.” Sypha glanced away, gathering herself, then looked back decisively. “‘The Hunter, the Scholar, the Sleeping Soldier: they shall travel together. They shall defeat great evil together. They shall… love together.’”Trevor blinked a few times, allowing that to sink in. Then: “Your prophecy says we’re going to fuck?”
Last Update: 2019
Fandom & Main Pairing: Castlevania ; Syvorcard
Personal Notes: I mean, it says what it is on the tin - it’s just a collection of smut vignettes and after the first 5 chapters the sex kinda just gets old and I start to crave actual plot. That isn’t to say it’s not well written and I didn’t enjoy it but..you know *hand waves*
Partners by wordswehavesaid
Summary: In which Barry Allen is the Starling City Police Department's forensics assistant. Yes, Starling.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: The Flash/Arrow ; Flarrow
Personal Notes: I love love love love LOVE this fic. I love it SO MUCH and it physically PAINS ME to let it go but it’s time. Still, at 25 hefty chapters, it’s not really a bad deal to put your time into it.
Take My Body by paraselenewoman
Summary: Derek and Jordan are Alphas. Stiles is their newly obtained omega. Everything is pretty terrifying. If given the chance, though, Stiles probably wouldn't change a thing.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Derek x Stiles x Parish
Personal Notes: ......okay listen. I never said I was proud of all of my fic reading choices okay BUT SOMETIMES. SOMETIMES A BITCH JUST NEEDS SOME GOOD OLD FASHIONED A/B/O Dom/sub DYNAMICS IN THEIR LIFE OKAY. YOU CAN’T SHAME ME - but I am a little embarrassed to admit it so let’s head to the next fic.
That Which Binds Them by Flarrow
Summary: Everyone is born with a mark shared by their soulmate, located somewhere around their shoulder blade. They say the mark burns upon meeting one's soulmate. Oliver knows what his is, but doesn't believe in the system. Barry doesn't know what his looks like, but he wants it to be a surprise.Set in The Flash and Arrow universes, but AU in the sense that I'm not sticking to the storyline laid out in either series, though I may borrow elements when they work for the story. Barry and Oliver are still The Flash and Arrow. Idea of the mark's location was inspired by the brand Oliver received in “The Fallen.”
Last Update: 2016
Fandom & Main Pairing: The Flash/Arrow ; Flarrow
Personal Notes: I read this a while back but I do remember it being a really good story. At 18 chapters, I didn’t feel like giving it the full re-read treatment since I’m currently on a role but I DID take the liberty of reading the very last chapter and I can say you’ll leave this fic satisfied if you do read it, even though it’s unfinished.
Steve Rogers and the Tri-Wizard Tournament by gryffindor17
Summary: There’s not a person who walks the halls of Hogwarts who doesn’t know Steve Rogers: the boy with the righteous streak, hot temper, and massive crush on the Romanian Longhorns’ star Chaser, Bucky Barnes. But Bucky exists to Steve only on the front page of The Daily Prophet. He has long since resigned himself to admiring from afar, catching games when he can or otherwise following Barnes’s crusade against injustice through printed page.Until the man himself walks into the Great Hall on the first night of their Seventh Year.Bucky’s life outside of the spotlight is hardly worthy of a footnote, never mind a headline, but no one wants to read about Bucky Barnes being found face-down and fast asleep between the shelves of Durmstrang’s impressive library. Between his studies and the Quidditch Finals looming around the corner, the last thing Bucky needs is something like the Tri-Wizard Tournament. He knows Headmaster Pierce is expecting him to volunteer, but all Bucky really wants is to pass his N.E.W.T.S. and maybe twist The Minister’s arm into passing the bill about guaranteed pay for House Elves. That is until he spots Merlin’s gift to man sitting at the Gryffindor table. Then things get complicated.
Last Update: 2016
Fandom & Main Pairing: Captain America (MCU) ; Stucky
Personal Notes: It’s rare that I actually enjoy Hogwarts AU’s and I’ve kinda dropped out of the Captain American fandom so, while this IS really well done, I’m just not interested in it anymore.
Part Of Your World by Jenetica
Summary: Derek's a werewolf. Stiles is a merman. They're not supposed to work.Luckily, they're both determined to prove that particular fact false.Sequel to "Sea Foam and Sunshine."
Last Update: 2014
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Sterek
Personal Notes: This is the second part in a series and you should def read the first one it’s fucking great. The second one is also good but...you know. Not gonna be finished ever so.
Knot Your Playmate by Halzbarry
Summary: He quickly closed his laptop and laid back on his bed. Somehow he’d convinced himself to not only sign up for an online ABO hookup website, but to also meet up with not one, but two alphas to potentially sleep with and get him through his heat. AU where Stiles is an omega, and has to sign up for an online ABO dating website to find an alpha to bring him through his heat, and possibly be a match so he doesn't flunk out of high school and get sent to remedial school because of Harris. What he doesn't expect is to find two mated alphas looking for an omega, and for feelings to start getting involved. Notice: Fic is on indefinite hiatus and is no longer being worked on.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Derek x Stiles x Parish
Personal Notes: .......LISTEN. IT’s GOOD OKAY????
Last To Know by Never_Says_Die
Summary: Kink meme fill in which every werewolf and shapeshifter in Beacon Hills is aware that Stiles is pregnant before he is. And apparently the first baby!werewolf being born into the pack (their Alpha's, no less) is a big freakin' deal and excuse enough for everyone to lose their damn minds. When Stiles figures out why everyone's been acting so weird around him, he's not amused.
Last Update: 2013
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Sterek
Personal Notes: This one is basically finished, like, it’s 21 of 22 chapters but the 22nd chapter would have mostly been just putting a bow on it, it’s already wrapped you know? It’s a really good fic I really love it, I should honestly just reblog it in it’s own right but I’ve already gone through the trouble of formating it so fuck it.
Lonely Road by CranApplePye
Summary: Stiles is running from things he doesn't want to face. Derek is running from a past he cannot leave behind. Their paths collide on a lonely stretch of road when Stiles' car breaks down and Derek is the only mechanic on hand. An unexpected closeness develops, but both men are harboring secrets and Stiles may have just found the one person whose luck runs worse than his own. When the past catches up with the future, it may be one collision that neither of them can survive, and it may end up pulling everyone they love down with them.As everything begins to unravel, choices must be made. Stiles must decide how far he's able to go to protect the people he cares about, and what he'll do when he hits his breaking point. Derek must decide whether he can overcome a lifetime of betrayal enough to trust in someone again, and what he's willing to sacrifice if he is. And Scott and Allison must decide what it means to stand by your friends, and what price they are each willing to pay to do what is right.
Last Update: 2015
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Sterek
Personal Notes: I AM REALLY MAD THIS NEVER GOT FINISHED. SUCH A COMPELLING STORY. SUCH A FRESH TAKE ON WHAT THE CANON COULD HAVE BEEN. AAAAAAAAAAAAH.
Lost In The Flood by Skaboom
Summary: When social services finally barges in and takes Isaac away from his father, granting custody to his aunt, Isaac gets the first good night's sleep he's had since his mother died, but that doesn't mean that everything is easy from there on out. There's a lot of lingering damage, and with everyone gossiping about him at school, it's hard to find someone to turn to, but with the help of a caring Aunt, a great therapist, and an unexpected friendship with Stiles, a kid on his lacrosse team, Isaac might finally be on the right path.
Last Update: 2017
Fandom & Main Pairing: Teen Wolf ; Stisaac
Personal Notes: Another sad goodbye, there has never been enough Stisaac fic in this fandom for me so seeing what few good fics there were go unfinished is particularly bitter to me.

Hi! I feel stupid to ask this but I was wondering if you could recommend Somme books for me? I’m looking for something new for the summer, but I’m groping in the dark here ahaha
Okay!!!! I'm actually very excited for this. I'm on mobile so sorry about the lack of links and such. I'm not really sure what genre you are looking for, and I read a lot of books over a variety of topics so I'll suggest a few.
SCI FI/FANTASY/DYSTOPIAN/RETELLINGS
The Lunar Chronicles - Marissa Meyer: These books bruh, I found Cinder at a thrift store nearly a decade ago and I was hooked. I love the universe she built and how she tied all the classic fairytales together. Fave character hands down is Wolf, but Cress and Thorn are also top contenders.
Arc of a Scythe series - Neil Shusterman: the premise of this books had me the minute I read the back cover in an airport bookstore. Like. It's everything I love in one book. Moral ambiguity, addressing our dependency on technology, political corruption even in an utopian society. Sign me TF up.
Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini: the first two books in this series are dry AF, but the last two books completely make up for the neverending world building that seemed almost redundant. Seriously. The last book, Inheritance absolutely blew me away, even if I didnt agree with the protagonist's final decision.
A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maad: I found this book rec'd on tumblr and never fallen in love so fast with first, these books, and second Rhys and Cassian. Give me 100.
FICTION
The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova: Its like the Da Vinci code but instead of Jesus its Dracula and it might just be one of the most brilliant books I've ever read. I still go back to this book on a regular basis because it's just that good.
Mr. Emersons Wife - Amy Belding Brown: this book isnt for everyone, it blends fiction with a lot of true life information about Ralph Waldo Emerson but this book is absolutely heart breaking. It will for sure stick with you.
Anything - Dan Brown: I'm going to be that person, but I love Dan Brown books. Like I love them. My favorite by far is Inferno, but I really liked the Lost Symbol as well. Zero shame over here.
CLASSICS
The Portrait of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde: First off, mai boi right here. I LOVE Oscar, I love everything about him, but especially this book. Some of the most profound quotes on the human condition come from this book and is still applicable today. This book is timeless and an all time fave.
Persuasion - Jane Austen: I will forever stand on my soapbox that Persuasion is the most slept on Jane Austen work. I love Captain Wentworth, I love Anne Elliot. I love the crazy cast of characters. I find Anne next level relatable and I want to both protect and give her the world.
Complete Works - Edgar Allan Poe: I have two Poe tattoo's and a likely neverending obsession. Alone is my favorite poem ever written, but check out his short stories. They are beautifully haunting, this mad cat delivers.
NONFICTION
Peter Lawford: The Man Who Kept the Secrets - James Spada: I have an obsession with both the Ratpack and the Kennedys and viola, this book is about a man who is both. It also is about a man who's got serious issues, but this was an insanely good read.
Columbine - Dave Cullen: I think the premise of this book is self explanatory. Beautifully and respectfully done. Heartbreaking.
Soiled Doves - Anne Seagraves: this is a book about prostitution in the Old West. Its actually really interesting. Not too long, but I've read it more than a dozen times.
HISTORICAL ROMANCE
The Relecutant Suitor - Kathleen Woodwiss: I asked my mom to get me this book when I was twelve and its one of my favorites to this day. I am a total bitch for historical romance and this one is no exception. There is war and intrigue and dastardly plots and love. Its everything and more.
A Rogue by Any Other Name - Sarah Maclean: all of her books are amazing, but this one is just.... Michael is basically the epitome of every fantasy I've ever had and I've never related so hard to a Heroine as I do Penelope. Plus this writer has a way with words I could only dream of.
Three Weeks with Lady X - Eloisa James: A big fan of this writing style as well. Lady X conquers what is considered the outskirts of what was acceptable in regency England, and how money quite literally made the man.
CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Austensibly Ordinary - Alyssa Goodnight: Modern day austensian tropes brought into modern times. Its exactly how it sounds. Light on 'the sex' but still worth a read.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me - Mariana Zapata: I dont know how I found this author but this book is incredible. Its got all the things that I love. A celebrity curve that is still insanely realistic and real. Football and shitty families, and marriages of convenience and everything else.
Dirty Rowdy Thing - Christina Lauren: I get weird about first person POV, but Christina Lauren does it very well. This also goes into the realm of kinks which I find rare in a lot of modern romances. The bondage is hot, the main characters are hotter.
Sorry this ended up so long!

Hi, Yuletide writer! First of all, my sincere apologies in my delay of getting this letter written up at all, and my enthused thanks for being here!
I’m a simple bitch with simple tastes; here is a general summary of my preferences, and fandom-specific notes and prompts can be found further down!
I very much enjoy:
Romance -- anything up to and including plotless shippy drivel
Short fics, or even collections of tiny fics
Long fics too, so I guess what I mean is, don’t feel pressured either way
Comedic tones, slice-of-life, lighthearted fun, any amount of improbable romcom tropes
Am also hella on board with misunderstandings, drama or angst as long as there is a happy ending!
I’m deeply okay with AUs, and most likely would be down for any modern, romcom, fantasy/fairytale, gender swap, or remix/crossover AUs you feel inspired to explore! My favourite settings include mundane/urban fantasy (witches! werewolves!), anachronism-stew-with-magic western fantasy jumbles, and disney’s Tangled.
Specific tropes I love:
Proposal fic
Wedding fic where the couple getting married is not the main couple
Outsider/third character POV of the main couple
Exes who are still in love/getting back together
Friends-with-benefits-with-feelings/did a bad job keeping it casual
Shipfic where two or more couples are contrasted
Oblique declarations of love/saying i love you without saying i love you
Provision and caretaking (acts of service!)
Aggressive matchmaking/wingmanning by an enthused friend
Hanahaki, or any other improbably dramatic instances of Cannot Spit It Out
Arranged marriage/fake marriage/fake dating
Epistolary fic
Regrettably I also love a/b/o, especially the kind that emphasises on scent safety and contains little to no actual sex
I’m not as into:
Political or social intrigue, mysteries, complex magical plots — by no means a dealbreaker, but not high on my list of priorities
Kidfic
First person narration
Soulmate AUs specifically
In general, please avoid:
Character death or serious/permanent injury
Animal abuse or death
Infidelity
Hopeless or downer endings
Fandom specific info starts here!
Princess Tutu - Ahiru, Fakir
I’ve loved Ahiru/Fakir for years and years — they are both very strong, willful but compassionate characters, and the way they intersect is just so sweet to me. While I would be ravenous for any tutu content, gen included, I really would be particularly delighted with some overtly shippy fic for this one, I hope that’s okay!
Suggestions:
Modern AUs: vet science major Ahiru + English major Fakir meet in theatre club?
Step Up-style remix where they become somewhat-unwilling dance partners because their regular partners are somehow indisposed and work better than expected
That one ending fix-it AU where Fakir writes her back into a girl and they retire into the village, the one we all have in our treacherous hearts, i will never get enough of these
Fakir and Ahiru’s relationship progression as observed by the other members of the school/town
Or mix it up with any of the tropes in my general list! For this ship, I would like a maximum rating of T, please!
Wotakoi
I love every ship in this manga equally but perhaps I love Kou/Naoya more equally than the other two? They are just so kind and so silly, and so sweet to each other in exactly the way both of them didn’t realise they were missing! Honestly, anything with these characters that’s along the lines of canon would be delightful; the particular energy of misfits realising that they don’t have to be alone is something very dear to me.
Suggestions:
Accidentally dating ft. Kou and Naoya, or, “and you’ve made out how many times now? Hmm. Yeah, that’s not technically a bromance.”
5 times Hirotaka and Narumi almost, almost kissed, and 1 time they did; the unresolved romantic tension may kill me and it would be worth it
What Hirotaka and Narumi taught each other (apart from the more mundane gaming and life skills, i believe that she taught him how to smile and be loved by others, and he taught her how to be loved by herself!)
Smutty domesticity ft. Koyanagi and Kabakura — a lazy Sunday, laundry in the sun, fucking on the couch, everything easy with familiarity
The fantasy/MMORPG AU, where Hirotaka is the lazy but brilliant crown prince, Naoya the hapless but beloved second prince, Koyanagi his spymaster and Kabakura the captain of the prince’s guard; Narumi his childhood friend-cum-betrothed, and Kou a mysterious archer who saves a distressed Naoya from bandits in the village?
The gang tries to play DND. We finally find a game that Naoya is good at.
Or mix it up with any of the tropes in my general list!
Nezha - Oubing
I feel 100 different ways about this movie and 88 of the ways are SO CHINESE. The filial piety, the familial sacrifice, the friendship! I do believe that Nezha and Aobing are in love, I hope this is a reading of the text that we share, but if not, gen about their friendship/rivalry would also be well-recieved.
Suggestions:
Aobing has been practicing bigu (a cultivation style that is meant to remove one’s need for food or water) since he was born; Nezha introduces him to food, and other creature comforts — do they have BEDS in the dragon palace for example?? Buddhist-style cultivation is very ascetic and difficult, but Nezha is so wild and full of feelings and love!!
Modern AU: delinquent Nezha and prim, proper exchange student Aobing
Modern AU addendum: nobody believes Nezha when he says he’s got a hot boyfriend in Taiwan and thinks that he has made Aobing up
Arranged marriage/political fantasy AU where the prince of dragons is given to the most controversial heavenly general in an effort to improve both families’ social standing
For a gen prompt, if you want to do something about Nezha and/or Aobing’s relationships to their fathers, debts and affections and resentments, that too would be lovely!
On the other end of the spectrum, i’m down for PWP with xeno tropes re: aobing’s dragon anatomy! So long as the top/bottom roles are not too strictly defined, i just like it when they’re equitable or switch!
And of course, feel free to mix it up with any of the tropes in my general list!
Kazetsuyo/Run with the Wind
I didn’t tag any characters because my favourites were not in the list, and of course because I do love everyone, but my personal priorities are in order: Shindo, Musa, Haiji, Kakeru, Nico-chan, Yuki, the bombastic twins, and then everyone else. The spaces between those positions are very small so if you happen to have a passion for a character/ship lower on the list, worry not, there is limitless affection within me for everyone!
Suggestions:
Shindo should get to take Musa to see the snow… he deserves that
He also deserves to run the ekiden again in his fourth year and not be sick and actually win section 5!
I do think Kakeru and Haiji are most definitely soulmates — if you choose to focus on one or both of them, I really do believe they are in the romantic kind of love, is the thing!
Perhaps their relationship, an inevitable drifting together, as perceived by everyone else in aotake?
Or Haiji comes to Kakeru’s graduation, all their tenderest affections still unspoken, and somehow, without any premeditation, by the end of the day they’ve kissed
You know what I think? I think Hana-chan likes and is capable of dating both of the twins, and I love that for her
Or gen canonverse with everyone (or just everyone you care about) taking turns caring for Nira and reflecting on the race!
As above, please feel free to mix it up with the tropes in my general list!
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun
I only selected Seo and Waka because they are simply my top priority, but if you want to serve a side of Chiyo/Nozaki and/or Hori/Kashima and/or Seo and Kashima being beautiful best friends and/or Mikorin being a beautiful himbo who we are delighted to have here, i would not complain at all!
Absolutely anything about them being goobery oblivious idiots in love would be perfect, such as:
5 times they went on a date without realising, and the time they realised
Everyone else literally just thinks they’re dating and they are completely clueless
Or on the other end of the spectrum, everyone tries desperately to set them up/matchmake for them, not realising that they’ve been going steady for four months
A hanahaki AU would be particularly hilarious with these two, I feel
Urban fantasy AU where Waka is a hapless monster hunter and Seo is an annoying but deeply harmless werewolf who’s been terrorizing his town??
Regency or faux-regency AU where Waka is literally like “drive by your rival’s estate slowly so that she may seethe with jealousy at the loveliness of your new hat” and Seo is like “oh goodness, he is courting me. What a fool. What an absolute buffoon.” and challenges him to a swordfight
Fairytale AU where Seo believes she must rescue the prince from the tower and deliver him back to the kingdom capital, and the prince, who had not realised he’d been kidnapped, thinks Seo is a usurper from a rival kingdom who must be supervised all the way back to the kingdom capital to be served her justice
Or anything else equally romcom-y, and of course, as always, throw in as many tropes as you like!
Thank you for reading this whole mess of a letter, and I sincerely hope I haven’t bored you too much. The most important thing to me is that whatever you end up writing, you are able to enjoy the process at least somewhat, and deliver a fic that you like! I can also be found on twitter at @hawberries_ (for art) and @popplioikawa (for general ramblings), and if you have any desire to send an anon ask to this tumblr with questions, i’m actually not sure if that’s allowed but i’d be happy to get some! Thank you again, and happy holidays!

Mind sharing some of your favorite m/m romance novels pal?
*CRACKS MY QUEER TRANS KNUCKLES*
ALRIGHT STRAP IN, FOLKS.
My BIG THREE authors where basically everything they write is literal chef kiss are:
1. K.J. Motherfucking Charles
2. Jordan L. Motherfucking Hawk @jordanlhawk
3. Cat Motherfucking Sebastian
The tl;dr: Think of England or Band Sinister (or any of her series it’s all fucking great) by KJ Charles, the Whyborne & Griffin series by Jordan L. Hawk, and the Captive Prince series by C.S. Pacat even though I technically don’t consider that one a true romance, just a series with romance elements. For trans specific, Peter Darling by Austin Chant. The sex isn’t really explicit in that one, so if you, like me, want to see your trans body being loved and appreciated in a sexy sexy way, The Burnt Toast B&B by Heidi Belleau.
There are more than what I’ve listed here, but those authors are my mains. If you want me to go in-depth about any of their books, just lemme know and I’ll be happy to do so.
MORE BENEATH THE CUT!
K.J. specializes in queer historicals, with some of those also being fantasy. With KJ, you will get SMOKING HOT SMUT AND ROMANCE as well as PLOT. She’s also very good at racial diversity and defends to the death people of color in historicals without making it tragic. In fact, I would say that the romance isn’t ever the main plot! It’s more character development. Also most of the time someone dies, but you are guaranteed a Happily Ever After. Most of her stuff is series, but she has some standalones if you wanna dip in your toe.
The standalones of KJ that I would recommend are:
1. Think of England. It’s Edwardian. There’s a disabled character. There’s a Jewish character (I think he’s Portuguese? Maybe Spanish. It’s been a while). There’s some good Voyeurism/”We Know We’re Being Watched” sex. Big Strongk Viking Manly Man who is very soft and sensitive as well.
2. Band Sinister. Regency. VIRGIN CLASSICIST. RAKE. HELLFIRE CLUB. SEDUCTION VIA CATULLUS. NEED I FUCKING SAY MORE. “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die. Be merry with me?” BOY.
In her fantasy Charm of Magpies series, Jackdaw is my favorite. The main character Jonah even goes by Jay in bed and I’m. Cry. It’s so beautiful it made me believe in love again. If you’re into Holmes/Watson dynamics, Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal is VERY HOT and good and has another book in the same universe where it’s like, Green Man themed.
Her Society of Gentlemen series was the first I read. DANDIES. DANDIES. DANDIES. GOOD GOOD POLITICS. ACTUAL HISTORICAL EVENTS. WILLIAM BLAKE AS PILLOWTALK. BOY.
Sins of the Cities is Victorian Sensationalist Homage! There’s a nonbinary character!
You can’t go wrong with KJ. Sometimes her shorter stories feel rushed, but they still are In Love Every Time. Seriously. Even if you like rougher stuff, even BDSM, they are STILL IN LOVE WHILE IT’S HAPPENING. SO ROMANCE. SO GOOD.
Jordan L. Hawk is a nonbinary author! Their main series is Whyborne & Griffin which is TEN EVENTUALLY ELEVEN BOOKS LONG. It’s a fantasy historical set in America during the Victorian era, whatever it was called in America. Very Lovecraftian. Good good wizard boy and his dandy PI husband (YES HUSBAND THEY GET MARRIED BITCHES). The sex scenes in the first book are SO FUCKING ROMANCE BOY I DIE. As the series progress, they are Together so we get less scenes and more Plot. I mean, like KJ, the whole thing is Plot and romance is part of Plot, but yeah. They get dark too. Also there’s Dr. Christine Putnam who is the greatest character ever written. And a fish lesbian.
They don’t really have standalones? But if W&G is too big of an undertaking to begin, try Spirits or Hexworld. Spirits is mediums and all that jazz. Hexworld is witch/familiar dynamic that’s basically soulmate trope and also super interesting political climate. I didn’t think I’d be into the familiars being shapeshifters but it was good!
Cat Sebastian is my least favorite of the three because she has no External Plot Only Romance. But the Romance is always good! She only has series, but they don’t necessarily need to be read in order. Ruin of a Rake has an opera box handjob that is SWOON and It Takes Two to Tumble is basically Gay Sound of Music and has A SCENE WHERE A MAN OF THE CLOTH MASTURBATES AS ONE OF THE SEX SCENES. IT’S. HOT.
IF YOU WANT SOME TRANS ROMANCE UP IN HERE.
FUCKING. READ PETER DARLING BY AUSTIN CHANT. TRANSGUY PETER PAN. WITH CAPTAIN HOOK. IT’S SO FUCKING GOOD. YOU WILL CRY.
I read Coffee Boy by him and the sex was good but meh.
The Burnt Toast B&B by Heidi Belleau is THE good contemporary on this list because I can’t fucking STAND when authors use twink unironically and the rest of this book is so good I can ignore that it does that too. The trans sex is so good, I almost cried thinking that someone could view my body that way and them be excited by it. Seriously. The cis guy in it is like “oh huh I never liked deep throating or swallowing semen so blowing a trans guy dick is like, fucking perfect? Also two holes I am the luckiest fucking man alive??????? ALSO HE CAN PICK HOW BIG HIS DICK IS???????????????????” And she pulls all that off without it being like, fetishizing and gross! The dude is just like, oh hey, this is awesome!
There’s also EE Ottoman! I’ve only read Doctor’s Discretion by him, and the sex was SUUUUUUUUUUUPER good.
HONORABLE MENTION.
So, I don’t actually consider the Captive Prince series to be True Romance. Yes, there are Romance Elements, as it basically reads like a tropey fanfic. But it’s more like, a fantasy historical political thriller? It’s like, if Risk was gay and sexy.
I read romance novels all last year, and Captive Prince was the first one that made me realize that I have dated multiple people, and just had multiple people in my life in general, give me the impression that I am hard to love, that I have a difficult personality, that I’m Too Much somehow. And like, seeing how Damen, this beautiful, kind, lawful to a fault, beefcake of a man loves Laurent just the way he is and is like SO FUCKING INTO HIM AND THINKS HE HUNG THE STARS IN THE SKY AND LIKE CAN’T KEEP HIS HANDS OFF HIM AND SUPPORTS HIM AND SHOWS HIM LOVE AND CARE THAT LAURENT HAD BEEN DENIED HIS WHOLE LIFE.
I FUCKING CRIED. AND MY STANDARDS ARE SO GODDAMN HIGH NOW. IT WAS ONE KINGDOM ONCE. I THINK IF I GAVE YOU MY HEART, YOU WOULD TREAT IT TENDERLY.
FRIENDS. IS THAT WHAT WE ARE.
ALSJFLAKSJFAJAOIWJFOSNFSLFOWAIJFOWAIJFWLFJWOEFJOWFMOAWIEFJ.
(Warning with Captive Prince: pedophilia and incest are a major plot point but I feel like it’s handled as well as that could be. Also the first book is basically just Slave Kink: The Novel, but no sex really happens and you’re supposed to hate everyone and be uncomfortable even though you’re a bit turned on. Damen and Laurent invented love literally so it all works out.)

My Month In Media: May
Trying something new and doing a little review of stuff I have read/watched/listened to each month in case anyone wants to talk about them.
Watched/Watching
Anne with an E - I only got through the first three episodes. Huge disappointment for me as it seemed to entirely miss the point.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Still enjoying this one. Titus “lemonading” was the best and “Kimmy is a Feminist” had me rolling.
Lucifer - I think it’s getting better and better. I am barely interested in Deckerstar but can’t get enough of all the other characters. Very excited to see where it goes next season.
iZombie - Another outstanding ensemble that I am happy is airing new episodes while everything else goes on hiatus.
Still Star Crossed - Excellent pilot but I am leery as I have never watched a Shonda show and I am afraid of getting sucked in.
The Americans - I love Philip and Elizabeth so much and even Paige has grown on me this season. It’s a very hard show for me to watch but it’s also so fascinating that I can’t not watch it.
Beauty and the Beast (2014) - Was not a fan of the latest Disney version and found this French version on Netflix. It’s visually fantastic and a more magical and faithful retelling but I wasn’t totally sold on Belle and Beasts’ relationship. Mostly it just gave me ideas (which isn’t a bad thing really)
Read
There was a bit of a theme this month as I am investigating the romance genre a little bit...
Seven Regency romances including three of the Bedwyn series by Mary Balogh and two by Mary Robinette Kowal that are Regency with a dash of fantasy and part of her glamourist histories series. Mostly this just made me realize how much Regency as a historical time period is a farce and what we read is really a fantasy version of it.
Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches' Guide to Romance Novels - It’s an interesting and funny analysis of the romance genre and I learned a lot. A bit dated because it was published in 2009 and not at all academic but very fun.
Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie - YA fantasy where the MC is empathic ie her power is that she feels other peoples emotions. This leads to issues because she can’t tell her emotions from others and strong emotions can over take her. It’s sent in a fantasy Russia type world and there is a love triangle with two brothers. I found the MC deeply unlikable but stuck around for one of the brothers.
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George -So the new Disney Beauty and the Beast prompted me to pick up stories related to the fairytale. This one is a retelling of East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It’s a fairly straight retelling but very enjoyable and fun. I found myself more into the family relationships than the romance.
Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis - This is a retelling of the Cupid and Psyche myth (which is very similar to East of the Sun and West of the Moon) but from the POV of the ugly stepsister. The story it tells is not as interesting as the character telling it and the philosophical questions that are analyzed as a result. It’s the kind of deep I know I’m gonna have to reread to really get.
“I saw well why the gods do not speak to us openly, nor let us answer. Till that word can be dug out of us, why should they hear the babble that we think we mean? How can they meet us face to face till we have faces?”
Listened
Yeah beyond my normal podcasts it was basically the Once Upon A Time Musical soundtrack on repeat...

Tumblr media
Last month’s collective mood was apparently “no one knows where their phone is, oh wait I’m holding it”.
Tumblr media
Hi, I’m the vampire nipple erotica editor who just wants to rest. This is my welcome/navigational post for my blog. Clickable links are in bold for ease of navigation. (Recommended listening for this life blog: https://youtu.be/zzg4yACP4nE)
My name is Joy, I’m a Scottish born writer and editor currently manifesting in the American Midwest with my husband, affectionately known to tumblr as ETD. If you’re here for puns, smut, and generally relentless vampire shit posting, then you’re in the right place.
Please have patience if you are sending me asks or IMs. I am but a chronically ill humble smut peddler, peddling my weres, and never expected to have a high traffic blog. I’m just making this up as I go along, and your patience for my limitations is appreciated <3
**If you are here to ask me about how I became an editor, or if you’d like to hire me, please check out my FAQ and my Editing Services page. Thank you!***
Due to tumblr tricking me into becoming a professional writer, I’m currently working on several projects, most of which are vampire related, for some bizarre reason I can’t quite figure out.
The most well known is Hunger Pangs which is currently available for pre-order over on my Patreon page, and eventually Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other retailers to be confirmed. Cause that’s right, I took that shit post and somehow managed to turn it into a fully formed queer-polyamorous-paranormal-satirical-romance novel featuring vampires, werewolves, and punching undead fascists, set in a pseudo-regency-steampunk era setting. (It wasn’t intended to be as politically relevant as it turned out, but the world took a nose dive after I started writing it so here we are.)
If you would like to read a fairly concise summary of what it’s about, you can find one Here. By request there are two canon versions of the book, one which contains explicit sexual content, and one which does not, for those who like a little more fluff with their fangs.
The book will eventually be available in e-book, paperback, and audio book format. I also have a small amount of limited edition hardback covers left for pre-order on my patreon. There’s also already a fandom tag, which is #Phangs and #Phangdom and because I’m a weak creature and easily lead, AU fanfic on my Ao3 under original works, most of which is Adult 18+ in nature.
Along with Phangs, I am also working on several other projects including a gritty historical Scottish romance novella (additional extract), based on a pun, a pun based wlw bakery romance (additional extract), a pun based Scottish werewolf romance, (have you worked out the common factor yet) and a contemporary Scottish rom-com featuring shirtless Scotsmen with questionable morals, based on irate ramblings, for which you will also find a NSFW excerpt on my AO3. It’s the one called, “The Devil Went Down On Georgia” for anyone wondering.
Oh also, the vampire wedding planner romcom, because I have apparently lost complete control of my life.
Tumblr media
I’m surprisingly okay about it tbh.
Also yes, Most Girls is now an official thing in the works too. I have a plot draft pinned to my wall.
All of my work is tagged appropriately, with anything that is 18+ being placed under a cut and tagged as #NSFW or #NSFW Text for ease of blacklisting if you would like avoid it.
If you are under the age of 18, I do ask that you respect my boundaries and refrain from interacting with anything on my blog that is labelled 18+. I try very hard to keep my blog as safe for everyone as I can, and respect your boundaries. No mean feat when you’re known across the Internet as “the crucifix vampire nipple lady” :P
If you need me to tag something for trigger purposes, no matter how silly you think I might think it is, please let me know, I will be more than happy to do so. Also while I do try very hard to be conscientious of the things I do and say, sometimes I will inevitably make mistakes or misspeak, and it is important to me that it be brought to my attention so I might correct my behavior and apologize. So please don’t be afraid to tell me when I’ve got my head up my ass. I make no pretenses at being a good person. I’m just trying my damnedest not to be an awful one.
If you’re completely new here you might notice some people calling me “mom” or other variations therein of familial relation. It’s perfectly okay to greet me as such if you wish to do so, but it is by no means an obligatory title and not something I expect or gave to myself. Tumblr decided to adopt me sometime back in 2016 after I did some helpful life advice posts, and I’ve been doing my best to be worthy of the honorific ever since. You can also, if you’d prefer, just call me Joy. Cause that is my name :)
If you ever get tired of seeing my personal health posts, you may wish to blacklist the following tags: #chronic health tag & #chronic health tag: teeth, that way I can bitch and moan into the void and you don’t have to put up with me if you don’t want to.
Also sometimes we stream things (games, writing sessions etc) in my chatroom or via my Twitch. There is also a discord server set up by my friends and followers, where people often hang out just to chat and meet other people in the tumblr fam. It’s owned and run by my good friend @ssalogel, so if you drop him a little note he can get you set up :)
I also have a PO Box listed in my FAQ for if and when anyone would like to send me something random like a book they’d like to see me review, or even the occasional Death fucking skeleton statue too. I only half wish I was kidding.
All of this rambling aside, welcome to my little corner of the Internet I like to think of as family. I hope you’re having a good appropriate time zone, and whatever made you click on me was worth it. Take care of yourselves and each other. You’re more important to the universe than you’ll ever know. <3
