initially !!! i wanted everyone to disappear as soon as they turned 20 to emphasize the cusp of something ( in this case adulthood and a kind of theft of it ) and then most of their "prime" years with for romance so when they re emerged in their 30s they would be completely changed / new people but i wanted the ages to match with dates for year of the rabbit and the ages were a little wonky when some of them were supposed to be pretty popular before the disappearance so 24 works especially considering there's 24 years ( I think💀💀💀 ) between aoi and then the newcomers in saturn ( madchen and the prince are smack dab in the middle bc there's always an out of place cast member ) currently most of them are two years shy of another cusp of something ( aoi are almost 50 mad and the prince are almost 40 and then the younger two are almost 30 if i did the math right the oldest two are ending on an 8 two years shy of the coming up age when the story starts whereas the younger two are smack dab in the middle like a crossroad it could go either way ) which is either going to be a new loop or a breaking of the current one -> the cusp of adulthood is the same as the cusp of perfection an almost attainable something that they never really get to reach bc they aren't the actual what they're supposed to be or what for romance / their parents wanted them to be but they could be an almost
