The first insp for this man!!! He helped me form GSP the most. I remember that one post he made and I think it was a question thing. I think the question was how did he make 8 or something. Idk I don't remember it much.

Ramón and Richarlyson sat on the cobblestone floor of the Shit Shack surrounded by the little beings that followed and whispered in their dad’s ears. It had been weird at first, to see their dads be followed by little rats and eggs with legs, but they’d gotten used to it as they spent more time with their dads. Over time they’d learned their mannerisms; how certain chitters the ratinhos made meant certain things and how, when the huevitos clasped their hands to their faces, it meant that they were giggling at something or had done something that Fit had not been made aware of yet. They had not yet mastered the art of fluent communication but they could roughly estimate what the animated creatures meant. They’d both dedicated several hours to learning the language of the beings that were essentially their siblings and if that was predominantly so that they could coordinate a prank on their dads, no one would tell.

The little beings liked to climb the children where they sat, with huevitos swinging from the tail ends of Ramón’s meathead hat, having the time of their life and the ratinhos liked to climb and snake their way up Richarlyson’s sleeve and rest on his shoulders, taking a nap before getting shoved off by a fellow ratinho. The two kids had run themselves ragged, causing mayhem together as they enjoyed their childhoods, unlike their dads had.

They had spent time with their Tio Mike, whilst their dads had gone on a date, and had managed to perfect the hissing sound that their Tio made when focusing on a project. They had been somewhat sternly told not to make it when around their dad Fit, for they did not want to be the cause of a flashback to his time in the Wastelands, by their Tio but then were granted permission to do it freely at the ranch.

A huevito with a silver Elven circlet poked Ramón’s cheek, wanting his attention, before holding her dominant hand out with her middle finger extended towards her shell as she touched what would be her chin and then chest with that finger before pointing to another huevito, as if to say something to Ramón. The child tilted his head in confusion, eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he was unsure of what the huevito was trying to say. Another huevito joined the first, this huevito had a sticky note with a drawn on emoticon for a face, mimicking drawing something to Richarlyson who nodded in understanding before using his warp totem and vanishing in a flurry of purple particles.

He’d returned a few minutes later as Ramón was still trying to figure out what the first huevito had signed, with art supplies under his arms and small bags of pens and other miscellaneous art things, before laying them all out on the deck, using the brown teddy bear that rested on the ‘Emergency Cookie Fund’ chest as a paperweight. When the wind picks up a little and a piece of paper flies away into the world, not likely to be seen again, Richarlyson lays face first on the ground, as if he was falling into pieces, making the ratinhos chitter in amusement before dashing off quickly to find another makeshift paperweight.

It’d taken time and effort but they’d decorated the Shit Shack with different coloured banners, streamers and art that the ratinhos and huevitos had put up with the help of their larger egg counterparts. A huevito that had a penguin beak on a string as their identifiable accessory was driving a truck, a gift to Ramón from their Tio Phil after an offhand question on whether his dad would be a submarine or a truck, delivering different pens, paper and other such stationery to their friends across the deck, having the time of his life speeding around. Ramón and Richarlyson took to decorating the outside wall of the house with multicoloured fairy lights, using some dragon magic to get them high enough so that Fit and Pac wouldn’t hit their heads on it as they entered the door. It was an organised chaos to them, knowing what to do and where different decorative items were to go.

A couple of the ratinhos had been tasked with distracting the huevito who looked like a miniature version of what Pac had described himself as an egg, but wearing a purple hoodie with a black labrador resting in the hood, for it was their birthday and they wanted to celebrate it just like they had with the other huevitos and ratinhos. As a family. They’d been sequestered to the inside of the house, with access to both floors through small gaps in the ceiling.

The night before Ramón had stayed up later than his norm to make an obstacle course out of books on shelves, plant pots, stuffed toys and anything else that he could find, in hopes that it would distract the huevito long enough for the others to set up decorations and find some food that they could eat. It extended to the upper floor through a small gap in the ceiling that Ramón had fashioned a tiny ladder from wood chips to fit through so that the assault course could continue upstairs. There were numerous pathways and blockages that meant that the small ones were forced to take their time in finding the exit. Fit hadn’t taken notice of it as he’d received a message from Pac asking if they could go on a date exploring together, too giddy with nerves and excitement to pay attention to his surroundings outside of himself and Ramón.

It’d taken a bit of dragon magic to get the banner with large penmanship reading ‘happy b1thday!’ in various colours and mediums, all surrounded by paw and handprints from everyone who’d helped as their signatures up on the wall. Ramón and Richarlyson had also signed it, and had messaged their Tio Mike to make a quick interference with their dad’s date to get their signatures on the banner before quickly returning it and pinning it to the cobblestone exterior.

The pair returned to the Shit Shack when the moon was high in the sky and stars shined bright, having lost count of time when in the other's presence. They’d missed their sons. Climbing the ladder, Pac noticed the decorations that had been left up.

“Fitchie! Who’s birthday- whose birthday is it today? It’s- it’s not Ramón’s or Richinhas. It’s not yours, is it Fit? Do you have two birthdays?” Pac crouched close to Fit, trying to pry out an answer from his beloved.

Fit chuckled, “no. No, I’m not the Queen. You know when my birthday is Pac,” as he looked around the platform from where his head poked up from the ladder. Pac stood tall as Fit spoke, dropping the detective voice he was using.

“Then whose birthday is it? Why here?” Pac asks openly, not looking closely at the decorations. His hands swung by his side as he walked around the deck, glossing over everything that had changed since that morning when he’d come to pick Fit up for their date.

Standing up from his spot on the top rung of the ladder, Fit’s eyes are drawn to the banner strung across the doorway of his house. It was crudely done, Fit noted, with spelling errors and misshapen lettering. But it looked like it was made with love and attention, he hoped whomever did have their birthday party at his felt that affection.

He opens the door, looks to his side of the room before looking at Ramón’s. Nothing had changed on his side so he couldn’t help but let his face soften in awe. It was the cutest sight he’d ever seen. Lifting his hand from the doorknob he quietly walks to Pac, tapping his shoulder and holding a singular finger to his lips before walking the few steps to the front door. They both walk back and into the lower room and gaze upon the sight in front of them.

There, on Ramón’s bed, was both of their sons and their miniature companions that they’d missed the nattering of as they went on their date. The ratinhos, especially, liked to mess with their blue counterpart by timing romantic songs as soon as Pac caught sight of Fit. He’d been told this not long after they’d gotten together, finally understanding Pac’s stumbling over his words when they’d been decorating the Favela’s central waystone before Christmas. It had made him laugh, for his own counterpart had not yet gained the privilege of doing that, after having too frequently demanded that he do certain things.

Their kids, the miniature counterparts included, were sleeping in a puppy pile, with huevitos strewn across their ratinho partners and vice versa. Some had climbed their kids' sleeping bodies and rested on their chests, seeking the soothing sound of their heartbeats. A couple of ratinhos and huevitos had scaled Ramón’s sniffer plushie and had rested on the green fabric of its back, basking in its fluffiness. They’d cooed at the sight, hearts warmed with love. It was a rare thing, serenity, on the island. So the sight that lay in front of them greatly moved them emotionally as they took photos. The sounds of little snores and breaths from their children could be faintly heard despite the sound of their camera shutter of their comm devices.

They stepped closer, wanting to enjoy the moment before heading to sleep themselves, when they noticed that the cuddle pile was centred around one huevito specifically. A huevito who’d clearly been wearing a paper hat with a crown drawn on it, that hat had been slightly crumpled under their body, as Pac could see. They sniffled slightly before awakening to see Fit and Pac staring at them. In shock, their head turned to both sides to see no other companion awake so they sat and stared back at the two larger beings.

“Oiii,” Pac whispers to them, not wanting to scare them out of their shell, “boa noite pequenina. Was it your birthday?” He crouches so that his height seems less intimidating, gesturing for Fit to do the same as the huevito nods once still in shock.

“Well then. I guess a happy birthday is in order. Isn’t that right, Pac?” Fit speaks, voice rumbling moderately as he crouches, knees making a clicking sound as he does. He shakes his head at the sound, sighing once before looking at his boyfriend.

“I think so. I think that would be right Fitch,” Pac answers, softly looking at his partner before turning his head back towards the huevito who was having trouble keeping their eyes open, “do you want us to sing you happy birthday?”

The huevito nods excitedly, still trying to stay upright as sleep truly begins to overtake them. The two chuckle at the sight, amused and content. It was not often that they could properly interact with their pocket-sized companions, for the hustle and bustle of the island took a large part of their focus, as did raising their children.

They start to sing, Fit’s voice in a lower register than Pac’s cheerful tone. As the song continues the huevito falls asleep, tiny hands resting underneath them as they wiggle in their spot to get into the perfect sleeping position. Halfway through the song, when the huevito is deep into the throes of sleep, Fit takes off the green, partially worn out bandana from around his neck, folds it into the size of a pocket square and gently lays it on the sleeping huevito. With a singular finger he smoothes it flat before standing back up, knees once again making a sound that shouldn’t happen at the age of 34.

Pac stands up, stretching his arms above his head as he yawns, Fit yawning shortly after, before nodding his head towards Fit’s own bed. The two sleepily stumble into bed, cuddling close on Fit’s too small mattress for them both before they follow in their companion and children’s footsteps and fall asleep.

i yearn for one(1) thing only, and that is to have a nice, simplistic, cartoonish artstyle. an artstyle that doesnt rely on anatomy, but the "movement" of the drawing, if you get what i mean.

i dont want realistic proportions and traditional colors and basic poses and gradient shading, i want funky lil dudes in funky poses with funky styles littering my sketchbook :( but alas i havent figured out how to develop that kind of style yet, my brain wants anatomy to look nice but also i dont want to draw eyes. i dont want to take time out of my day to learn how to draw lips i want to draw a line that extends past the characters face. i dont want all my characters to have pointy chins with curved cheeks i want their heads to be round and friend-like or full of sharp edges depending on their personalities and styles. i want to give them all not-quite human ears, blob feet, simple faces, but at the same time i want enough detail to convey the story or emotion im trying to tell.

ive spent so much time recently agonizing over how to use 3d model websites, using real-life references and tracing over them for practice, color-picking from real images to try and do realism and failing miserably, but you know whats easier than that? funky little dudes. little dudes who do not care if their legs are too long or their hair is too bouncy. i dont want my characters to look human.

ive spent enough time on the artfight website to realize that most people who classify their characters as "human" have the most basic ass designs (no offense to people who like basic human designs its just not my thing) or its like dnd-medieval style outfits which i cant draw for the life of me (ive tried). again no offense to people who actively enjoy and draw characters like that. i just need my dudes to have that certain,,, off-ness to them. tails are cool. wings are swag (especially if they arent even like,, fully attached,, ), elf ears are so wonderful to me no matter how much theyre overused, horns are so much fun to draw, and colors!! i have no knowledge in the color theory department so this works great for me!! the only thing i really know is dont shade with black, other than that i just colorpick from references usually but i dont want to do that!! i want the colors to hurt people's eyes but in a satisfying way. like the character's design is so nice to look at that you dont mind your eyes hurting a bit. like how im enjoying writing this post even though its 2 am and the brightness on my computer wont go any lower.

and then another thing ive noticed from being on the artfight website is that a lot of people classify their characters that are anthro/have anthro features under humanoids/monsters. like i made a google form to find some people to attack and someone sent me in a character with some sort of animal (wolf? idk) arms and legs. like dude!! peak character design i love her. but me personally? i cant draw that shit, its so hard for me. i tried a while back and its just Not my thing. nothing against furries i just. cant. and i dont want to either.

and i got another submission that i accidentally deleted that was like full anthro/wolf-like like my comrade,,, i cannot draw animals what makes you think i can draw an animal who acts like a human lmao. i can do like. very basic tails, and also animal ears but i cant do the arms and legs and such i just dont know the anatomy, and i know i was talking about how i dont want to care about anatomy but i feel like for anthros you really do need to know at least basic animal anatomy so you know how the limbs look and shit and i dont have that knowledge and dont feel like gaining it.

and then there were some submissions that i absolutely adored. there was one that like, was vaguely human shaped but definitely was not a human. they had a dark-ish lavender colored skin and horns and tusks and like goat ears and a sorta fluffy tail with spikes on it and they had wings and such and they were such a pleasure to draw i love them. and they had a fairly simple outfit too, nothing too complicated. and then i also enjoy object head characters, theyre so neato to me. i got one of those and i really wish i had the motivation to work on it cause it looks so fun.

i want to make funky characters but id have nothing to do with them because the only book i ever tried writing (key word tried - never got past planning it out) had strictly human characters in it, and most of the books i read are humans/humans with powers in situations specific to them so id have no idea what lore to make with the dudes. assuming i have the motivation to make lore and backstory because honestly i just really enjoy character designing its super duper fun.

(side note a song about trucks doing the deed came on just now and its interrupted my flow, apologies).

i only have three actual characters right now. one is an original roleplay oc whos design is literally athletic shorts, an oversized long sleeved grey sweatshirt, long purple hair, and demon horns. the second one is my persona whos design some sorta medival knight outfit kinda thing? but not ugly it looks really cool (idk one of my friends designed it bc i won some contest from him but the drawing was on a super small scale so idrk the details,,,) with a plague doctor mask and crown, and shoulder length wavy brown hair, dyed bright pink at the end. and then my last one im not too comfortable using other places because theyre a character my friend is using in the story hes writing, and thats really the only place theyve been used. but theyre easily my favorite and im already writing a ton so ill talk about them too.

they're a sorta elf species thing from another planet, with pale green skin and pointed ears. they also have a tail, its like,, super thin, but with a feathery bit at the end. probably not the texture of a feather but i dont know how else to describe it. they have short, curly, almost-draco-malfoy-blonde hair that when it gets too long they can put in a man bun. their eyesight is kinda shitty so when they got to earth, they were exploring some supply closets around the airship. drop off area. thing. like airport but for rocketships and also fancier. yeah. they were exploring that area and found a nice big pair of round glasses with grey frames. and they also found a cowboy-style hat and a sharpie so they wrote their name on the underside of the brim of the hat and stole the hat and glasses (but left the sharpie in the supply closet).

yeah theyre my favorite, my absolute beloved, my child, so cool. i want more characters like them but with maybe a bit more snazzier designs. theyre super cool and all but they could have more pizzazz if they werent in a story where its too late to give them more pizzazz. i just want to be able to give my characters thigh-high boots with a bunch of buckles and fluffy hair with tons of accessories crammed in and abnormally large and long ears that can harbor many piercings and horns that can hold rings on them and special little details on their outfits like who knows what but i dont have any characters to do that too, so i have to make them from scratch, which is always hard especially when you have artblock.

and i also have like 17 characters i need to fully draw, line, and maybe color for artfight before august 1st. so i dont know. i have many things to do and plenty of time to do it but instead i spend my time halfway watching repetitive youtube videos that get boring or sleeping all damn day because i stay up too late doing things like this or i just do nothing at all and its tiring and frustrating but i also feel nothing about it like theres no consequence if i dont do it besides you know. not doing it, not gaining that experience, not making something i enjoy.

so i should do it but i dont for whatever reason, i think its called executive dysfunction but im not sure. this post started out very differently than it ended and i said somewhere up there that i was writing this at 2 am but now its almost 3. this is so many words why couldnt i have put this energy into something productive

1. Fictional universe you’d like to move to for one day?

- I wanna say One Piece bc that really sounds like fun...but my luck I’d be placed in some village that’s being oppressed by a tyrant or some shit and I’d be miserable lmao. But maybe Luffy and co would come save us and I could befriend them?? Just being able to meet One Piece characters would be cool to me. Other than One Piece, maybe Naruto??? Ninjas are hella cool and the Leaf Village seems like a very comfy and homey place to live. Or having quirks in a My Hero Academia world... Idk I’m only thinking of animes rn for some reason lol this is a tough question!

2. Favorite book/comic book/manga/etc.?

- Oooh, book is tough because I actually don’t read as much as I’d like...The Twilight series will always hold a special place in my heart. Gone Girl is also really good! For manga, that’s easy - One Piece, simply because I’ve yet to read any other manga lol

3. Favorite astral object (for example: star/constellation/planet)?

- I think nebulae are really cool! Even the word is neat-sounding. They’re so pretty and the idea of a star nursery just sounds so ethereal! 🌌

Pushed off from the busy streets and in the woods maybe? Either way, I’d also love to live close to the water! Whether that be a lake or beach or river. supreme? he’s got it because he’s full of swag and the company can afford it for him so he’s gonna take advantage of that shit 

his entire closet? filled with stupid bucket hats and fanny packs. has decided he has too many. decided to sell them to owen and daesung. they were stupid enough to buy them 

around the dorm you can usually just find him chilling in a sweatshirt and sweatpants. loves himself some sweats oh boy. probably wears sweatpants to the airport as well just because he wants to be comfortable on the plane so he’s not gonna give two shits about whether there’s a stain on his pants or not

the boy! loves! colors! pastels are a big yes for him and pairing those pastels with things like overalls and such is so much fun 

he’s also a huge fan of things with pockets. like, the more space to keep stupid things in the better. owns a jacket with fifteen pockets that remi and kiyong bought for him as a joke, but he actually adores it and wears it all the time

Misc boring essentials i bought for myself: new phone charger cos broken, new trousers cos i spilt hair bleach on my only two pairs, new shoes cos my left shoe literally snapped in half down the middle like wtf even happened there, cheap pink hair dye from a discount store cos i wanna try different colours but in a thrifty way

Now for EXCITING CHRISTMAS PRESENT TIME!!!!

First off SO MANY pc and xbox 360 games from Every Charity Shop In Cardiff, St Mellons, Rumney and Llanrumney. My sis has been trying to find some games to play but was like 'dont worry about it i can just wait til the charity shop gets something good'. So i thought i'd get some stocking stuffers via all the charity shops on my side of town. By our powers combined we will blitz the entire vale of glamorgan's discount gaming scene!!! I found SO MANY good stuff for £1/£2/£3 like holy shit i love when charity shops dont know the proper price for shit XD

speaking of which i also found a WEBCAM for £2! If its that cheap it probanly isnt great but itd still be fun to play around with! :D and the same store also had an old vintage G1 My Little Pony coffee mug in excellent condition. Oh god the nostalgia! My support worker gave me a lift to llanrumney so i had to awkwardly explain why i had an armful of weird 80s mugs and big teary eyes!

Speaking of vintage, i found this new vintage toys and games shop in cardiff called Galactic Attic! The name hooked me in and then they actually DID have pokemon inside! As well as all sorts of stuff ranging from 40s to 90s, wow! There was even a lil pile of old 90s gaming magazines in the corner, covered up by a bunch of boxes. I'm glad i noticed them! I got the announcemt issues for pokemon diamond pearl and platinum in a weird old pokemon fan magazine that i loved as a kid. Im kinda sad that nowadays we just have one official magazine fpr each console and not the wild madness of amateaur journalists failing horribly to get news from japan. Shame they didnt have Beckett Pokemon cos that one was infamous fot drawing its own terrible interpretations of pokemon sprites to avoid copyright. And speaking of terrible, they even had bootleg pokemon!! I talked to the cashier and he was like "you know those are fake right" and i was like "yeah its so nostalgic thats why i want em" and he was like "lol yeah they actually sell pretty well so i'm not mad my supplier ripped me off". It was a pretty good and awesomely terrible fake at the same time? There was this exact replica of some japanese display stand for the product and then the actual pokeball toys looked perfect BUT the mini pokemon inside were.. Really not. I am so damn happy with the surprise inside my one, surprise inside has never been more accurate! I can't take a picture now cos my phone is charging but REGICHEETO. Just..just imagine that, and whatever you're imagining it is probably worse. I love it so fuckin much. Also less hilariously there were some bootleg mini pika plushies with actually (as far as i can tell) their own unique design? They have cute lil winter scarves and an art style that reminds me of the Magical Pokemon Adventure manga. A really cute and good bootleg that i would have loved to see as a real product! The only way you can even tell its a bootleg is because there's no marking on the tail. I dunno, maybe if i still have some brown fabric in the cupboard i could fix it? Or maybe its unique tail makes it even more special! I mean there's Cosplay Pikachu with its double tail marking so maybe this is her cousin Accessory Pikachu with no markings? He just likes wearing scarfs and hats and stuff. OMG HE'S THE POKEMON GO EVENT PIKACHU!!!!!!

Along the miscness of finding a few things for myself, i also found: cute lil pokemon pencilcase, kingdom hearts blind bag, cheap copy of Fruits Basket volume 1 cos the new remake is coming out soon and i wanna Get Hype! The KH blind bag was really weird cos i didnt know they now have an entirely different set as well as the keychains i bought before. Its kind of a shame the art style doesnt match cos vexen is only in the keychains, alas! But i do really love these ones! Theyre apparantly made by funko pop but dont have the art style AT ALL, they just look like really accurate versions of the characters in mini form. Its kinda like the 'distance animation' style in steven universe? (Incidentally they also do SU ones but they missed the opportunitu to actually use the distance style, lol) I got a Sora in his kh2 outfit and i'm decently happy with that, its not one i really wanted but its not a bad one either. But i think now i've tried the fun of surprise once i'll just buy the actual ones i want off ebay later. They have roxas in his organization outfit! With a happy smile!!!

Oh oh and then EVEN MORE XBOX GAMES OF THE WILD THRIFT STORE VOID! i managed to find the whole fable series, two assassins creeds, saints row, gta, some misc shooter games and racers that she wanted but i dont know much about, mass effect 2 and ff13. I think maybe one or two others cos i cant fully remember right now. Theyre all in separate bags strewn across the room and my shoulders feel like death so i'll sort through them later.

* went on a wild goose chase looking for harry potter merchandise and eventually found a gold plated replica of the movie prop version of the time turner and HELL YES my sis will love it!

* rambled about several market stalls that were cool but i can make a separate post about that in the morning when i find their contact details to advertise them

* got a plushie delibird and decided to take selfies with it everywhere to try and fight my social anxiety somehow. We went to a neat lil restaurant and had cheesy fries and a coke float!

* asked for a refund on an item for the first time ever and im proud of myself

* went off on a mystery bus trip to buy a preowned 3ds and pokemon games from a lady in an online preowned stuff facebook group and it didnt go horribly and i am glad! She was really nice and i witnessed A Good And Smart Parenting Moment and man it healed my heart and i wish i'd been raised that way. Again i'll probably ramble about the details later when im less tired, it really touched my heart seriously! And now i have MANY GIFTS FOR SIS!

The entertainment industry in America is imbued with racist ideology, and gaps in representation and wages between actors of color and white actors are reigning free. Black actors are sometimes more successful than their white counterparts, but even then they’re not being recognized or compensated in the same way. I observe this from a privileged lens as a white person, and though I have struggled economically and still do, I have the privilege that comes with whiteness. Here I will attempt to communicate some of what I see as disparities and racist ideologies in the American entertainment industry today.

  I saw the most recent Star Wars movie “Solo” when it came out on Netflix. Alden Ehrenreich plays Han Solo, our lovable, orphaned, thief-but-for-the-right-reasons protagonist. He’s moving up through the ranks, stealing for the noble cause of one day being reunited with his adolescent crush Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke).  Donald Glover plays Lando Calrissian, the owner of the Millennium Falcon. His methods for acquisition of the Falcon are under constant scrutiny, and he is portrayed as the crook, with little back story. When white writers Jonathan and Lawrence Kasdan created this story, did they intend to cast Lando as a black man, or was it perhaps the casting agency who thought Glover would be good for this supporting role?

When Donald Glover was offered the job, he faced a choice. Did he want to be in the new Star Wars movie if he played a thief? There is a sacrifice made when an activist musician and comedian takes a high caliber role that potentially stereotypes him based on race. Certainly the circumstances are unique for each actor, but when a black entertainer is given an opportunity to succeed, but there is a wage gap between black and white entertainers, as well as male and female actors, and intersections of these different categories work like a confusing math problem that becomes easy to distill: there is disparity.

Sure, films like Black Panther are working against subjugation by taking black characters into the forefront of the picture, but what goes on behind the scenes is still inequity. It is generally stated that Chad Boseman who plays Black Panther earned $500,000 for his appearance in the film, and around 2-3 Million for Avengers, Infinity War. Robert Downey Jr. however, earned $500,000 for the first Iron Man, and earned a sickening $40-$50 Million for Infinity War. (QUORA.COM, 2019) (MENXP.COM, 2019) 

Entertainers with more weight in the industry based on previous successes gain more creative independence and move up in the income ranks based on that success. But roles and incomes are limited for black actors in the mainstream, and when you see a black actor or hear a black musician, what parts of their blackness are being commodified and to what end can they be undervalued as artists when their bodies and voices are being harnessed to entertain?

According to Forbes, Black Panther grossed over 1.3 Billion Dollars, more than Titanic, one of the highest grossing films to date (Forbes, 2018), Whereas the first Iron Man grossed less than half that, close to 318 Million. (Box Office Mojo, 2019). There are some lurking variables affecting the difference in Boseman and Downy Jr.’s salaries in Infinity War, like that fact that Downey Jr. has appeared in more films than Boseman (IMBD, 2019), but the key factor in the wage gap here is clearly white privilege. This phenomenon is hard to name because acknowledging it opens up hundreds of years of dialogue on oppression and dispossession which is painful to talk about, but it is impossible to ignore if you want it to change.  

Coincidentally, Donald Glover’s hit song This is America was co-written by Swedish computer Ludwig Göransson , who also wrote the score for Black Panther. Göransson  speaks to that experience in an interview with Complex.com last year:

“What I’ve been working with, and really trying to be aware of, is how you take traditional music from these different countries and put electronics and big orchestra on top of that while keeping the same sounds,” he said. “It’s been really challenging. I went to west Africa and South Africa for a month to do research and record a bunch of different musicians for the score. I brought that back to my studio and, for the past year, I’ve been figuring out ways to preserve the essence of that music and try to make it cinematic to fit this superhero universe.” (COMPLEX.COM, 2018)

So where are these nameless musicians from Africa credited in information on this blockbuster’s soundtrack? Nowhere that I could find. Were they paid anywhere close to what Göransson received as the Composer for the film?Do they receive royalties from their performances?

Michelle Alexander speaks to new manifestations of racism in her book The New Jim Crow, a book which according to a 2018 article in The New York Times is banned in prisons in North Carolina and Florida. (Bromwich, 2018)

“In the era of colorblindness, it is no longer socially permissible to use race, explicitly, as a justification for discrimination, exclusion, and social contempt. So, we don’t. Rather than reply on race, we use our criminal justice system to label people of color “criminals” and then engage in all the practices we supposedly left behind. Today is it perfectly legal to discriminate against criminals in nearly all the ways that it was once legal to discriminate against African Americans…we have not ended the racial caste in America; we have merely redesigned it.“ (Alexander, 2012)

  And that’s exactly what is going on in the entertainment industry today. We are redesigning racism with wage gaps, divisions of screen time and biased survival in apocalyptic pictures (Infinity Wars,) and portraying black actors as thieves and sidekicks (Solo,) while black rappers in the mainstream sing about prison time, womanizing, gold chains, and street drugs, perpetuating these images to the public. In Lil Baby’s song Pure Cocaine, which is #24 on the Billboard rap charts as of April 5th, 2019, he says:

“When your wrist like this, you don't check the forecast/Every day it's gon' rain (every day it's gon' rain), yeah/Made a brick through a brick, I ain't whip up shit/This pure cocaine (this pure cocaine), yeah/From the streets, but I got a little sense/But I had to go coupe, no brain, coupe no brain/I ain't worried 'bout you, I'ma do what I do/And I do my thing, do my thing”

  Chris Holmlund makes observations of the entertainment industry’s racist ideology flattening the Whoopi Goldberg into a tool for the white protagonists to connect in the movie Ghost in his book Impossible Bodies:

“Garishly dressed and made up, Oda Mae [the crook turned accessory to the white protagonist’s happiness, played by Goldberg] looks ridiculous when she visits Molly at Sam’s urging. “I don’t see what’s wrong with what I’m wearing,” she complains, voice off over a bird’s eye shot of Manhattan. 

The next shot shows her striding along, resplendent in a badly fitting rose-colored jacket, black flounced skirt, black stockings, white net gloves, bouffant black wig, and rakish hat. Her legs splay apart awkwardly above spike heels. In African leggings she later seems more at ease, but she never looks as deliciously fragile as Molly [Demi Moore] does in her pixie haircut, baggy sweaters, and spaghetti strap T-shirts.

            No wonder, then, that Oda Mae lends her body to the dead Sam when he wants to hold and kiss his wife one last time. “O.K., O.K., you can use me,” she says, “You can use my body. Just do it quick before I change my mind.” Orlando at least submersed himself in her, before reemerging in ghostly superimposition to hear his wife’s response. Sam simply replaces her, obviating the lesbianism implicit in a first, teaser, closeup of Molly’s white hands held by Oda Mae’s black ones, by suddenly appearing in medium shot to wrap his strong arms protectively around his tremblingly eager widow’s torso.” (Holmlund, 2002)

This example from the 1990 film may show that movies have come some way in representation of black characters, but Lando’s role in connecting Han Solo with his love Qi’ra seems to follow a similar trajectory. Epigenesis is painful, and there are many steps back accompanying each step forward in how ideologies can be reshaped. In 2010 there was one such instance of painful steps backward which instigate change in the 15th annual broadcast of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which aired on CBS. A summation of the event from The Color Complex by Kathy Russell-Cole, and Drs. Midge Wilson and Ronald Hall follows:

“Over 9 million viewers, the largest audience yet, tuned in to watch thirty-four female models, six of whom were women of color, parade around in lingerie and little else. The display of wares was organized around six differently themes sets, and in each, even the country-themes one featuring a barn and blond wigs, the subset of “girls” participating was racially integrated-with one notable exception. The single themed presentation in which the producers saw fit to showcase only the six models of color was the segment entitled “Wild Thing.” The setting was a jungle and the models entered wearing nothing more than African wraps on bodies covered in tribal body paint. From the African-American community could be heard a collective moan: “Seriously? Again, you put us back in the jungle?”

Since before the Civil War, the dominant White culture has abused and manipulated images of African Americans, usually for the purposes of fear, humor (i.e. what Whites thought was amusing,) and marketing.” (Russel-Cole/Wilson/Hall, 2013)

Awareness of these disparities is the key to unwinding what large entertainment corporations are continuously feeding to the public. I encourage you to question the lyrics on the radio, and ask yourself who is writing them, who is singing them, and for what reason. Watch the behaviors of actors. What are they promoting? Mainstream media is engineered by corporations to succeed with awareness of what consumers will buy into. It’s your responsibility as the consumer to shape the reality of the entertainment industry, and equality on and off-screen.

Yeah, they’re pretty fine with both. They’ve spent a lot of their time up in the mountains of Aggan so they’ve never really been on a boat or on a plane, but the sinking pit in their stomach is the same when they’re in the trees, so they can handle it.

After much thought, they’d be Baloo from the Jungle Book. Both bears at least part of the time, crunchy, a lil stupid, has a questionably flirtatious relationship with a posh creature who’s way more qualified with them, but nonetheless is travelling the forest/jungle taking care of a sassy lil orphan. Also you can’t deny they would rock a coconut bra.

It has been proven and shown that Xochitl would do absolutely anything for children and they have given so much of their life for Yaretzi and their own little siblings. They may not make the best decisions for themselves, but god damn if they don’t work their ass off to give their children the best life imaginable. Okay but predebut!joon is so fucking cute like he has the same thing going on that the other boys do, he still has a bit of his bby chub, he’s still gotta grow into his features a lil more, cheekbones weren’t as sharp etc. all of the typical things but it’s really really adorable he looks so squishy

His cheeks were (and are) s o kissable and soft and I just wanna squish them bc they look so cute I love squishy cheeks so much

Okay so Namjoon’s fashion is always changing and evolving, one day he’s wearing all black the next he’s in a bright pink shirt, one day he’s in black jeans the next he’s in overalls and I have to give joon some applause for taking risks and wearing whatever HE wants to wear bc his fashion is another form of expression and I love that he’s sending out the message of just do you (wink wink)

Some of my personal favorite Kim Dailys are when he’s in all black, there’s this one picture where he’s in all black but then there’s just a pop of pink from his hair and it’s so aesthetically pleasing but my all time favorite has to be this one picture is where he’s in a black tank top, black shorts and he’s got a headband on and glasses and he’s got the blondish hair going on and it’s just so wo W he looks so boyfriend in his Kim Daily posts and it makes me want to scream

HS!joon is always trying new things out and he loves finding new clothes or a new accessory like this one time you give him a hat for his birthday and he wears that thing for like three weeks straight bc he loves you and he loves hats so it’s all perfecT

Okay so Namjoon is really really friendly but he doesn’t make friends with everyone he walks next to so he has zero issues with becoming friends with someone and speaking to them first but he likes staying somewhat close to his group, the boys will always be his b e s t friends (and of course, you but you’re a lil more than a friend)

Namjoon likes to hang out with the kids that are pushed out of cliques for being different or ‘aren’t cool enough’ bc fuck that, no he’s gonna be friends with them and he’s gonna show them that not everyone cares about how much money they have or don’t have or how popular they are

And lowkey head canon that he’s super sarcastic with the 'popular’ clique that are all really arrogant and cocky so he gives them these really fake smiles when they talk to him, the type of fake that you know is fake so they can see he’s not having their shit and every single word is dripping with sarcasm and Yoongi’s helping him and they’re both just slowly but surely putting the clique in their place

 Namjoon is totally the type to stick up for others around bullies like he’s tall and broad and he’s got that deep voice so he can easily psych the bully out and get them to leave the other person alone

Namjoon is obviously in the music club, he loves music so much but I also feel like he’d be in the fashion club maybe bc Namjoon seems like he’s really interested in different styles and different looks so he’d definitely try it out

He’s the president of the music club and everyone loves him in both clubs and he loves having people around him that are interested in the same things that he is like the people in the music club know about so many different artists and everyone’s always trading song suggestions and the fashion club is so open to different fashion styles like you have one kid that forever wears all black, there’s someone that likes to go for a nice dress and has a more vintage style he likes the quirky people that have something they love

I’m not sure Namjoon and sports should go together bc Namjoon has been given a certain nickname (god of destruction) and idk if giving him a ball and telling him to kick/throw/hit it is a good idea bc that sounds like a pretty good way to end up with a broken window and/or limb

Prom with Namjoon is so cute though like joon would be such a sweet boyfriend and he makes you feel so special the entire night like his eyes never leave you, his arm’s around your waist and he’s just so proud to be standing next to you and to be able to say yes hi I’m the boyfriend 

He’s so !!! when he sees you like there are so many emotions, at first it’s all cute and his eyes are all bright and he’s so happy and in awe and then he gets this smirk and just does the “ok” hand motion and very blatantly checks you out

He gets you a single rose (cue the cheesy line of “bc there’s only one you”) and is super happy to pose for pictures bc “in twenty years, we’ll look back on these pictures with our kids and tell them how I was the best prom date of the century” 

Namjoon gets super hype at prom tbh like we’ve all seen what happens when Namjoon hears music, he goes crazy and just starts up the flailing limbs like his dance he did back in the WOH era where he was just whipping his arms back and forth and even got Jimin to join in with him

Or the iconic dance he did on Weekly Idol where he had the really long jacket sleeves and just kinda flopped around and flailed them all over the place and he looked like one of those air dancers (I had to look up the name of them using the joke about wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man from Family Guy apparently they’re called air dancers I learn something new every day)

He ends up losing his tie at some point and he doesn’t even realize it until he’s leaving and goes to fix his tie bc it “feels loose” 

He and Jin start a dance off and somehow Yoongi gets roped into it and then Taehyung’s doing the worm in the middle of the dance floor while Jimin’s rolling around laughing and Jungkook’s challenging Tae by saying he can do a way better worm but it’s all adorable and Namjoon gets you to join him and Jin gets his date involved so now everyone just wiggling around with their dates  

And of course the slow dancing is so sweet and soft and it’s super giggly bc you two keep stepping on each other’s feet and Namjoon just gets this huge smile and his entire face is lit up and he’s playfully singing along to the music off key just so he can hear you laugh

High school!joon is super sweet and kind and he’s really just a gentle giant and loves to make the people that feel left out feel included with him and he also just really really loves you

hoho I got a whole TWO new lil ideas you're in for a treat today

FOR THE FIRST - on the vein of Cas's Adventure Of Making Sam Not Hate Thorougly Detest His Guts one day the boys are at the market and sam spots an absolutely horrendous piece of clothing. I don't know how it would work with the kinda sorta medieval thing we've got going but I'm imagining a god awful piece of knitwear (made by your grandma for a christmas present you hate but have to smile and thank them for anyways kinda ugly) and being the little shit he is, Sam is immediately like 'heyy casssss....' and the thing the next thing you know cas is wearing the ugly accessory from hell. sam is cackling maniacally like the little demon child he is and dean is a cross between annoyance (at sam for potentially making cas mad) and amusement (because dammit cas does look stupid in that hat). cas of course is just like :DDD I love it sam your right! it's so soft! anyways flashfoward to when they get home and sam and dean are thinking that cas'll just toss it in one of the closets and thatll be it but no. cas keeps wearing it. bc of course he does dean!! sam wanted him to wear it!! he's not taking this responsibility lightly!! and this goes on for a few weeks and cas is still serving customers and this point and so he's definitely getting quite a few weird looks. I feel like this could end in either one of two ways, one, the lighter version, is where sam eventually gets so annoyed at cas wearing it he actually gets outstubborned and reluctantly goes to cas and is like..... 'stop wearing the stupid hat'. cas is like :o but he does. the other version could also end with that but also has the interim of cas noticing the looks he's getting and it slightly stressing him out so he goes to dean all agitated bc he doesn't fully know if he's acting wrong/missing a que and then when dean tells him it's bc of the hat he's like :(( but I don't want to upset sam and take it off I promised :(( and then dean is like 'alright enough is enough' and they clear up everything and sam apologises for what he originally planned to be a harmless lil prank and the hat is retired.

(cas still finds it soothing to touch though and uses it sometimes in the future to calm himself down when he gets overwhelmed. sam, when he finds out, can't decide whether he feels proud or annoyed. (it's definitely proud))

awwwwwww!!! i feel like Sam is only really intentionally nasty to Cas when he's lashing out/being defensive, he doesn't really premeditate being nasty unless he's trying to protect himself or Dean...That being said, I can see this happening as kind of an in the moment thing that sort of spirals and Sam is too resentful to deal with. Like I feel like I could see them being at the market and Cas seeing the hat and being like hm. That is an interesting looking hat. Like not really liking it just sort of curious.

And Sam who is Not a fan of Cas at this point being irritated and grumpy and sarcastically being like yeah it would look great on you. You and that hat would get along great. You're both so ~interesting~ and ~unique~ >:(

And this is obviously an underhand insult and Dean is like :O Sam! But he doesn't say that outloud he just gives Sam a Look, bc if Cas didn't catch that Sam was being a jerk he doesn't want to draw attention to it and get Sam in trouble. And Sam is all >:( >:P at Dean.

But Cas does not pick up on this so he is like :O why thank u Sam! How nice of u to say! And he buys the hat even tho he personally doesn't care either way for it bc he wants Sam to feel validated. And both Dean and Sam are like :O but neither want to admit that Sam was being sarcastic bc then Sam might be in ~trouble~

Cas def does start wearing it all the time bc he wants to show Sam that he appreciates it!! And Dean is like :/ bc he doesn't like that people r giving Cas weird looks and he is Not Happy with Sam, but he's also still too scared that Sam will be hurt to say anything. For a while Sam is like >:( good. whatever I don't care. About Cas wearing the hat and getting weird looks. But he is a good kid at heart and deep down he feels really guilty, especially bc he knows Cas only keeps wearing it bc he wants Sam to be happy.

I feel like Sam would eventually feel bad enough to tell Cas that the hat looks really stupid and he was being a dick saying it would look good on him. Maybe he sees some people making fun of Cas and blows up at them, and then stomps over to Cas and admits the truth, and is all angrily/defensively like "so if you're gonna hit me about it just fucking do it whatever!!! Just stop wearing that stupid hat!" and Cas is like :O sam ofc I'm not gonna hit u!!!!!!! and Sam is all ??? but starts trusting Cas a little more.

unpopular opinion

good earbuds are better that over-the-ear headphones

my points rest as

over the ear headphones never actually encompass your entire ear, at least in my experience, so wearing them for long periods of time is irritating

bulkier and less durable- i can fall asleep, lay down on, wear hats/earmuffs/elaborate hairstyles with earbuds in, but with over the ear headphones i gotta be so careful. also you can get earbuds a lil bit wet sometimes and its fine but with headphones its an instakill bc of all those soft parts. 

much, much more expensive. I can buy a pair of earbuds at the airport for <20$, but with headphones it’s a whole ordeal 

in my experience, they last exactly the same amount of time before going deaf in one ear. granted, I’ve only had 2 sets of over the ear headphones, but still. 

all the buttons are on the ear parts, not the cords, so if I’m walking with a hood/hat on i gotta really dig in there to skip a song or change the volume

with earbuds, head size isn’t even an issue. it’s moot. with headphones you gotta adjust it and sometimes one click is too big and one click is too small and you just gotta live with it. 

can’t fit in pocket. you either gotta have a bag/case or wear them around your neck like some kind of hipster.  

if earbuds fall out, it’s not a big deal, you just kinda reel em back in by the wire. if your headphones fall off you got a Big Problem

headphones are a Fashion Choice. if you have headphones, it’s a proper, real Accessory that you chose to Wear. having the right color/look actually matters. if you got the plain ass white apple earbuds nobody cares, and it’s hard to see anyway unless your earbuds are rainbow or something, but headphones are a whole thing. also earbuds can be stealthy. 

you can put one earbud in and keep one out, to show that you’re listening to the current situation but also have a lil music going. doing this with headphones is really hard to do without them falling off or sliding down, and still looks like you’re prioritizing your music over the conversation/situation. 

you can share a pair of earbuds. this is especially important for giving your crush/squish/SO one earbud and making them lean over next to you, provoking a breathless, intimate moment of closeness. also good for cuddling and listening, or when 2 ppl both want to watch a movie or something and there’s only one pair of earbuds, or when you want to quickly show a friend what you’re listening to but still want to keep listening to it. the possibilities are endless.

these are acknowledged as valid counterpoints, but I believe my arguments outweigh them

better sound quality/better at noise canceling. fair and valid. 

more successful with bluetooth (i’m just going to lose a pair of airpods when i step a bit too hard and one falls into a puddle, but bluetooth headphones aint going anywhere and are easier to connect, plus can still have a wire if nec.) the main reason i disregard this is bc i have been scared and confused by bluetooth since it first came out and i dont intend to stop now. it’s never once worked right for me, not on my phone or computer, and I don’t trust it. 

lasts longer and is less easy to lose. I have no barometer for this since the first pair of headphones I owned went deaf in one ear in 6 months and then promptly got lost in the black hole of my room, and the 2nd pair is 3 days old and still going strong. I trust the word of other headphone users on this. 

the bluetooth aspects/ability to change cords means they can connect to both aux ports and iphones, but this wasnt even a fuckin issue until recently (i’m looking at you, apple, you piece of shit) and you can get one of those little dongle thingies for either (granted, at extra cost) so it’s a bit moot.  

doesn’t get tangled the second you put em in your pocket. this is for cowards who dont know how to loop their earbuds correctly so as to avoid this. 

stays on your head better. see point 8 for my counterpoint to this. 

in conclusion, while I understand why some people use over-the-ear headphones, earbuds are just better for the common person’s purposes
