The less common pop culture dragon review (4 limbs, no wings, 1 head) part 1
(I’mma cut you off before you say ‘oh you mean drakes’. No, not necessarily. Also also drakes don’t necessarily have legs and sometimes they have wings.)
Beaucephalis from Dragon Booster
8/10. Chin man. Iconic design. Can shapeshift a little. Do like the special dragon’s color being black. Chin for days. This dragon has metal scales, metal bones, and can use magnetism to push/pull or stick things. Also a fast man, a racing dragon.
Greymon from Digimon
10/10. Another iconic dragon. Of the dino dragon sort. Also the greymon in that first movie is damn sexy. Just something about a fire breathing therapod-ish shaped monster captures the imagination. The blue and orange is a good color combo and the horned helmet puts it above the other basic dino monsters.
Guilmon also from Digimon
10/10. Another firebreathing dino mosnter but baby. This is a good lad. I love boxy head dino dragons. Also has those neat dragon wing ears which are a good touch.
Najarala from Monster Hunter
9/10. It’s a snek! Between the parrot beak, tusks, and blocky aardvark claws its very fun to look at. The long blocky scales and plates evoke a feathered serpent without having feathers. It rattles its tail, has a paralysing bite, can explode its shed scales with sound, and has a sonic attack. A very good loud snek.
Haku from Spirited Away
9/10. A very majestic young river god. I like his wolf head and how we get to see his very sharp teeth. His birdy feet are neat. I loved how he disintegrated in a shower of silver scales turning to his humanoid form, that bumps him up a notch. I don’t really have much to say about his humanoid form.
Good Imoogi/Celestial Dragon from Dragon Wars
6/10. Colors are murky and the environment/background does not help. Like the fun going down the back instead of fur. Face is certainly craggy and interesting. Also I don’t usually get to see this kind of dragon get into a knock down drag out fight like that all that often. Also we do see it metamorphosize from a different type of dragon! Which is neat.
Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon
3/10. Oof. That’s disappointing. Yeah that’s a dissapointment. Real naga look pretty darn cool, that’s.... no. She ain’t got no tusks. Not even whiskers if were pulling from any of the other Asian dragons. She also could have used stronger definition in her coloring, her colors run together. I do like her human form, she looks very personable and kinda awkward and fun loving by the face.
Mushu from Disney’s Mulan
5/10. Mustache. Very tiny and rather simple. Almost looks like he’s got hooves. Like his voice.
Godzilla Jr. from Godzilla the Animated Series
9/10. I love him. He’s sexy. I also love his mom but his mom doesn’t spit green fire. The very lean therapod-ish body is a breath of fresh air, also works well with the humany arms. I love the boxy head plus the jutting chin. Also the streamlined shape of the spines. Favorite godzilla.
Deino from Pokemon
10/10. A BABY! A goth baby. Fuzzy goth baby with no eyes. I love it. Nintendo let this be my starter!
