YAY LOREEEE YES YES OF COURSE i love telling stories as well so this is perfect HEHEHEHE (im v sorry this is so long. this is what 5 years does)

so i joined idv when it was still quite new! november 2018, i checked. my best friend (who is also a selfshipper here, just inactive atm) asked me one day if id like to play with her this game! she only got into it recently and wanted someone to play with so she thought of me. without much hesitation, i did (i was immediately convinced with the dbd styled gameplay) so ive been playing idv with her non stop (we even played together recently after i went back to it for norton hehe)

norton wasnt even there when i first joined! there used to be a small roster of survivor and hunters and i remember either she or i get leaks on new survivors and we talk about it! norton was the second "new" survivor at the time that i got introduced to, i think that was on march 19 (which is also his birthday). at first, i was simply excited to get new survivors so of course i was like "yay!! this prospector looks awesome!" (foreshadowing. /j). i think one of my initial thoughts of him was "dang, that is definitely a design i fuck with" (his miner's hat really gives a lot of character! i still believe that today).

i was pretty much neutral at first. i just go yay cool guy is here in the game lalala (same attitude when the other "new" survivor came out)

one day my friend was designing an oc to pair with a random character (i dont think it was a yume thing, she just wanted to ship with someone because why not) and i wanted to join her as well, that's when I conceptualized irene - she was initially a shell collector :D like my friend, i wanted to find a survivor to pair her up with and without hesitation I just went. yeah. norton . nortons the one (as i said, his design really resonated with me and imo he was like, one of the actually "good looking" survivors to me at the time. its hard to say that now because we have characters like luca, aesop, edgar, mike etc etc LMAO)

so i was like yeahh! irene x norton real :D at first it was just a very lighthearted thing for me to do (as in, i wasnt very. 'HES SO CUTE LALALA") but i think it was when i tried to google fanart of him to draw at the time - that's when i was like "ooh... he kinda cute tbh..." but mostly just kept it hidden

at that time, i didnt really accept being a yumejoshi yet - i was super casual abt it and didnt think much abt liking him (i thought he was just a handsome blorbo to me). also because i was very preoccupied shipping him with emma (whom i very much projected into hehehe)

so after some time this becomes an on and off thing where i like him, and then ignore. like him, then ignore. cue the dormant years

then timeskip to maybe like, my 1st year in the yumeblr community, i missed him and this time i was becoming more head over heels for him for a brief time so i drew him and irene (irene was still a shell collector there too.) it was short lived

then uhh, time skip to a little more recently last year -- fools gold was becoming a thing! I don't know fucking HOW, BUT THAT TRAILER/NEWS CAME INTO MY YOUTUBE TIMELINE EVEN IF I DID NOT... TOUCH IDV? AND, FUCKIN HELL, I THINK I BECAME A NEW PERSON THAT DAY 😭😭 LIKE SEEING FOOLS GOLD WAS A WHOLE ASS RESTART BUTTON BECAUSE SUDDENLY I WAS IMMEDIATELY DOWN HORRENDOUS

AND AFTER THAT, I JUST. BECAME. WHAT I AM RN. EXTREMELY GIDDY AND SILLY ABT THIS DUMB HOT ROCK FUCKER LMAOOO but again it didn't last long? (medium lived ...?) cuz of steven. but also my friends (yk the fuckplace server) were constantly teasing me abt norton in general at this point so i couldn't exactly get him off my radar but i kept quiet. its worth mentioning that irene was still a shell collector too but i was starting to debate whether i should redesign her or not

and then, skip to the present. what got me to like, really selfship with him and just fully commit to liking him for Months now even -- was because of the stageplay which my aforementioned friends kept encouraging me to check (and when stageplay norton came up. i basically had the same reaction w fools gold but more positively and more lovingly SKAKWKKASKA) and that's when i fully retconned irene's lore to really align with his lore.

its worth mentioning that during norton's early years in the idv community - we did not know his personality and lore. the only keyword we had was "gloomy" but that didnt stop me and my friend from misinterpreting his attitude to be friendly and goofy (and irene was... believe me or not. a fucking Hater.. he was the goofy. she was the Not goofy one. its scary to look back on). and im so serious when i say the fools gold trailer changed the whole game for me because thats when i actually KNOW: 1) his personality 2) his lore 3) he is not a goofy Guy and i revamped irene's entire lore to align with his - making her the rich happy girl to his poor emo boy

5. Slan 

Honestly she’s terrible, but we stan lol. But seriously, I find her absolutely fascinating and I really wish we could have learned who she was before she ascended, what actually made her activate her Crimson Behelit, and who did she sacrifice. Really I think I’m just fascinated by the mystery surrounding her.

4. Schierke

Such a wonderful lil bean :’). I’ve always adored child characters who are wise beyond their years and Schierke is definitely one of my favorites. I mean, we’re talking about a 12-13 year old girl who ADULTS look to for assistance when it comes to learning magic or staying sane, here. That to me speaks volumes of her strength. What I love most about her, though, is her dynamic with Guts. It’s so sweet how, aside from Casca, she’s the only other person he’s ever been completely open with and the fact that he trusts and believes in her so much is just so amazing to me. Plus her and Isidro’s antics never cease to make me laugh.

3. Luca 

She’s just a ray of sunshine in such a dark setting ☺️. I admire that despite living in such a bleak world and being in a hellish situation, she still remains, kind, selfless, and brave. And the unconditional, motherly love she has for her girls is just so heartwarming. I’ll be honest, I was pretty bummed when she didn’t join Guts’ party, but she had to look out for her girls so I get it.

2. Farnese

Ngl she got on my nerves at first, but I also found myself intrigued by her and the more I read, the more I ended up empathizing with her and liking her. 

For all intents and purposes, she should have become a terrible person, hell she almost did. Though I will say that’s pretty understandable, given how she was raised. Growing up neglected, sheltered and lonely can be really damaging to a person’s psyche. And the fact that she only got positive attention by hurting others did NOT help her mental instability. But when she joined Guts’ party, became Casca’s caretaker, and became Schierke’s student, I saw a side of her that I never would have expected to see in a character like her. It turns out her sadism hid kindness and compassion and selflessness. She just needed an opportunity to let that side of her shine through. I especially love her relationship with Casca and how she went from being a protector to a close female friend for Casca to rely on (which is something Casca really needs atm).

Also, I thought it was cool how Miura wrote Farnese using her penchant for bondage and sadomasochism to do good after her characterization (i.e. the thorn snakes). She’s actually the first instance I’ve seen of BDSM being portrayed in a positive way with a story like this, so that was pretty refreshing.

1. Casca

Words just cannot express how much I love this woman. But I’ll do my best.

Everything about her is just so amazing and she’s probably one of the STRONGEST female characters I know. I mean, this girl kept the Band of the Hawk together and lead them for a whole ass YEAR in Griffith’s place and when the Eclipse went down, she maintained a level head and managed to calm everyone down before everything went to shit. That honestly says a lot about her strength and leadership prowess.

That’s not to say that she always has it together. She can be hot-tempered at times but even then, she still has good judgement. She’s also emotional, and tends to cry a lot, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Actually, the fact that she wears her heart on her sleeve is just another thing that I admire about her. Her vulnerability only ADDS to her strength and imo makes her that much more relatable, because it underlines that while she is a gifted sword fighter, soldier, and commander, she’s still a human not a machine or weapon. And Casca realizing this, learning to find value within herself and learning to consider what SHE wants out of life rather than letting her value be dictated by her usefulness to someone else is something I love so much about her. And you probably have seen this a lot across tumblr, but I love, love, LOVE that she’s a WOC. I mean, how many instances are there of a leading lady in a dark medieval fantasy being POC, especially during the ‘90s?

My only complaint about her was that it took so long for her to come back to us. I don’t mind that Miura decided to have her dissociate after the Eclipse (in a few ways it makes sense given all that she witnessed and what she had to endure at the hands of Griffith and the apostles), but I wish it didn’t take 20 irl years for her to regain her sanity. Tbh, I think it would have been better if she began to gradually come back to herself or learned to cope with her trauma over the course of her and Guts’ journey, but it is what it is, and I’m just glad she’s back.

I just love her sooo much, holy shit 😩.

Let's Dance is Gay(er) Now and I Love It

Okay, so the last month was pretty exhausting (like the month before that... and before... and- it's a fucking pandemic everything's exhausting), but what's been getting me through the week are Vadim and Nicolas, the first male same-sex couple on Let's Dance (Germany's copy of Strictly Come Dancing). We had an all-female couple before (Kerstin Ott (c) and Regina Luca (pd)), but they sadly didn't make it far into their season. But dont' worry, because now we have these two cupcakes:

Nicolas Puschmann (l.) was Prince Charming, Germany's first gay Bachelor (and is still in a relationship with the winner, which, considering the average longevity of reality-TV-relationships, is pretty remarkable). Vadim Garbuzov (r.) is my all-time favorite professional dancer in the history of Let's Dance; he was absent for a a couple of seasons but returned this year (legend has it that a loud and happy "Vaaaaadiiiiiiim"-wail was heard from our living room when they announced the participants, but you can't prove anything).

Vadim first danced on the Austrian Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing Stars, in 2011, where he partnered with actor Alfons Haider, who had recently had his coming out. They came in fourth place. Here is my personal favorite among their performances, their Viennese waltz.

Knowing this, Vadim was my choice for Nicolas from the get-go (my mother objected: "But that's boring, he danced with a man before!" to which I replied "Yes, which means he fucking knows how it's done!"). Switch to opening ceremony: the host Daniel asks Vadim who he would like to dance with. Vadim: "Well, it's the tenth anniversary of my debut on this programm, so dancing with Nicolas would be great!" Someone squeeled into a pilow in excitement, and it was neither my gf nor the cat.

Thankfully, the television gods answered both his and my prayers and gave him Nicolas as a partner.

They are freaking amazing together! Nicolas is really impressively good (not objectively the very best (yet), Valentina Pahde and Rúrik Gíslason so far performed better overall, but he's a more than deserved third place atm (also, we all know Rúrik will win this thing. We knew in the first episode. We've seen the Gil Ofarim season, we know how this'll play out. As long as Nicolas and Vadim make it to the finals I'm okay with that)). He has made so much progress just in these first couple of weeks, now he makes keeping up with Vadim look pretty effortless and his expression carries every performance. Vadim is a gift from the gods. I love each and every one of his choreographies: the storytelling is on point and it's so cool how they continue to switch who leads/follows in each and every performance (I wish more of the couples did this).

Their performances so far:

Opening ceremony: Already dancing together before partners were announced, they performed a Quickstep to "Ich will 'nen Cowboy als Mann" (no clip because RTL hates me and my priorities in life).

1st Show: An unapologetic, sexy, flirty, really fucking gay Cha-Cha-Cha to "It's raining men" by The Weather Girls that really sets the tone for what they're here to do (Daniel: "So, how was the first male-male Cha-Cha-Cha?" Nicolas: "Just normal.") (18 out of 30 points).

2nd Show: A Tango to "Breaking Me" by Topic. I recognize that Tango is a tough dance to learn, but honestly, this is my least favorite of their performances. I don't think the music, setting, costumes and choreo work together very well, but it's still a good performance (21 out of 30 points).

3rd Show: THEY! ARE! BACK! with a vengence - I mean, a Slowfox. This might be my favourite performance, because unlike last week, EVERYTHING works here. Their tuxes, the music (a beautiful jazz cover of "Enter Sandman" by Metallica), the choreo, the switch of lead/follow, the brief but effective storytelling at the beginning and the end - I love everything about this (28 out of 30 points I object your honours I don't care if Rúrik was better he always is anyway!).

4th Show: A Contemporary to "Unsteady" by X Ambassadors. This is art. I don't know what else to say. (30 out of 30 points).

5th Show: My favorite dance, the Charleston, set to my favorite aesthetic (retro maritime), choreographed by my favorite dancer, performed by two amazing dancers to "Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen" by Nina Hagen. Have I watched this performance more than twenty times since yesterday? Yes. Will that number go up in the next hour? Certainly. But honestly, look at their feet, how in sync they are, the physical comedy that's straight out of a black-and-white movie. It's perfect. (29 out of 30 points I will sue).

You took a few deep breaths, settling your nerves as best as you could. 

Today you were graduating. After four years in Taako’s Amazing School of Magic, you were finally graduating as a fully fledged wizard! You were youngest in your graduating class, of course, at only sixteen. Angus was too, as you remembered, having graduated a week earlier from Lucas’ own school. Taako’s academy wasn’t exactly easy, or safe for that matter, having to be constantly alert due to the schools duel system. But it was the best wizardry school in all of Faerun, and more importantly it was your guardian’s school. 

Now, you stood on stage in the auditorium, waiting for your name to be called to receive your diploma. It was bittersweet. You’d be leaving school, sure, something that had been quite stressful at times, but you’d also be leaving what had been more or less your home for four years.

“Finally, last but certainly not least, my child, (Y/N) (L/N)!” You were jolted from your thoughts at the sound of your name, and you grinned, finally crossing the stage to where Taako stood waiting for you by the mic. 

You stopped in front of him, and he smiled, handing you your diploma and replacing the plain brooch on your wizard robes with one emblazoned with the school’s crest. Then, unlike what he’d done for the other students, he swept you into a hug, letting you go a moment later to daintily swipe at his teary eyes. 

“Whooo!”

“That’s our kid!” You heard from the audience, and you glanced over to see it was, as you’d expected, Magnus and Merle cheering, with Kraavitz and Angus sitting calmly next to them, clapping with the rest of the crowd. 

“You’ve done so well, kiddo. Almost all grown up.” Taako told you softly, patting your head fondly. There was another pause, and he nodded for you to move on to stand with the other students.

Ren guided you to your place in the front row of graduates, and after a quick pause for a class photo, you were all allowed to disperse. You quickly found your way over to your adoptive family, following the continued sounds of cheerful yelling. 

“Hey, kid!” Magnus called as you approached, and the rest turned to you with varying levels of excitement. 

“Hey, guys!” You replied, letting them all (even Kraavitz) pull you into a group hug. 

“Congrats, kiddo. A fully fledged wizard! I remember back when you could barely cast mage hand…” Merle told you. You laughed. 

“That was only, what, five years ago? I’d be worried if you couldn’t remember that.” He waved your comment off good-naturedly, reaching into his pocket to grab something. 

“That reminds me, I have something for you! A fun graduation gift, you know.” 

“Merle…” Magnus sighed exasperatedly. “No one likes your gifts.” 

“C’mon! They’ll love these.” He held out a handful of little root beer barrels, each covered in lint. You grimaced. 

“Merle, these were already out of date the last time you offered them to me, and that was four years ago. I appreciate it, but… You know I can’t accept these. Maybe give them to Mooky?” You offered, and he nodded, giving a faux-sad sigh as he returned them to his pocket. 

“Guess no one appreciates my gifts…” 

“To be fair, Merle, Magnus did try to warn you.” Angus said, breezing past the dwarf to stand by you. He was taller than you now, by a fair bit, comfortably resting his arm on your shoulder. 

“We’re all very proud of you, (Y/N).” Kraavitz said, and you smiled. He wasn’t technically one of your guardian’s, but he was Taako’s boyfriend, and that made him close enough in your book. 

“Thanks. I’m happy I was able to make you guys proud.” You said honestly. 

“Are you kidding?” Taako gasped dramatically as he joined your group. “You could probably become, like, an evil necromancer or something and we’d still be proud of you.” 

“I don’t know about that.” Kraavitz winced, and you and Angus both laughed. 

“You get the point though.” Magnus said. “As long as you’re doing your best, and keeping true to yourself, then we’ll be happy with it.” 

You blinked away the happy tears coming to your eyes. “Aw, stop that. You’re making me all mushy.” 

“How about we get out of here? I held off my graduation party for a week so we could have it together. We’re keeping the others waiting.” Angus suggested, and the rest of you agreed, quickly finding your way out of the school and to where the rest of your friends were waiting to throw you and Angus’ party. 

It had been a long road to get here, not even counting the events of the Bureau, but it was one you were glad you took. Looking at your friends and family around you, the family you chose, you couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

S3 Rewatch - Episode 3 - Mercredi 12h10 "Tu choisis pas"

I haven't given up on those ! And man I miss skam france a lot so doing this again is making me really happy atm, recapturing a little of the magic.

This clip really was a happy surprise and ep3 is Alexia's time to shine. They did a great job giving her a place in Lucas's story (even tho I would have liked to see her react to Lucas's coming out in particular.)

The clip starts with a quick shot of a Raptors poster ("You also can be one of us!") - that's the French version of the Penetrators right ? So basically a Straight Institution TM. Followed by Lucas quickly noping into the Foyer to avoid Chloe. He's noping out of Straightness all around.

I love Daphne's look in this clip, the green bow scarf thing in her hair is super cute, and the whole moment where she desperately tries to hide that they're having a party while everyone is like eh whatever is hilarious. She is such an unlikely candidate to organize a clandestine party in the school at night, and yet. Everyone is stepping out of their comfort zones.

I did laugh at the part where Daphne brings up Alexia's bisexuality as linked to her shoes, that felt like a clunky way of bringing the subject but those shoes are awesome. And calling Alexia chelou is a throwback to Eliott being all like hey we like weird right? It's cool to be chelou right ? Bi/pan kings ! (A bit mean from Emma though lol) but those would exactly be the type to own their weirdness/queerness. Even though, as she says later, she might not be afraid to stand out but in the end, it's all natural. I am not a big fan of the whole "we're all sexually fluid anyway" but I remember having similar thoughts as a baby bi. It was a way for myself to reassure myself that I wasn't actually weird, that this was in a way a core human experience (I still honestly believe a lot more ppl than we/they realize are at least somewhat fluid, but not everyone.)

For the whole "Lucas becoming a part of the girl squad" thing - it does feel a little artificial at times. But it's also interesting in terms of gender dynamics. There's a bit of an element of "Lucas isn't a real dude so it's chill" that can be a bit demeaning at times - but it also means that he can sidestep the whole charade of war between the sexes/treating girls like objects like his friends do and so he can find temporary shelter with them even though in the end his squad matters more (and that's logical tbh), and they can help each other out.

Alexia bringing up the Kinsey scale and Lucas - nonchalantly but not really - immediately wanting to know more is like such a mood bc you learn so much from being surrounded by other queer ppl, but it can be so tricky to ask when you're not even out to yourself. Then she brings up Emma and Daphne kissing. Daphne is obviously embarrassed and says she didn't take the initiative while Emma treats it as a silly thing she does when drunk. Meanwhile Lucas has probs been struggling with this for years, so it might have hurt a little to see them talk abt it like it's inconsequential- and it's not really surprising when he says - oh that's cool, you can just brush it aside when convenient then. Like at that moment maybe he is thinking that bisexuality in this way is the best option - he can't really deny his attraction to guys anymore but he sees an opportunity to sweep it under the rug. When he says "and everyone still thinks you're hetero" with that fake smile, as if that was the best possible option, I was like, ouch. But I felt like I really understood Lucas a lot more. Compared to Isak (who always seemed to struggle more with the attraction itself, a lot more nervous around Even) Lucas's goes for it around Eliott but also ropes Chloe in much harder - his main fear is about the social repercussions.

Alexia's response is one of my favorite non-Elu moments of the season. It's such an important debunking of the stereotypes about bisexuality. You fall in love, it's not about picking sides. And you can't calculate, it's not about what's most convenient. It just happens. And Lucas needs to hear this, too. He can front with the best of them, but he can't force himself to feel things bc they're convenient. But the message will take some time to sink in. That little downcast look at the end, though. Ugh. He probably feels like he committed a blunder, we know from later that this blocked him from coming out to the girls. From Emma and Daphne being somewhat dismissive he might have expected them to be all "haha yeah it's cool we're still straight anywayyy" but Alexia is way ahead of them on that one. She doesn't let the implication that straightness is the norm slide and I love her for that. I was so blown away when I discovered the Kinsey scale, this idea that it's not "normal" vs the outliers but that's it's more of a spectrum. So drawing strict boundaries is difficult. It's such an important message. It's the first time I really felt they were taking her character and her sexuality seriously and that was really cool. As Lucas's story gets pretty angsty at times, it's also cool to be shown that struggling with yr sexuality is not always a necessity, that some people manage to be very open and proud and easy about it.

simon has always been a bit high strung tbh i’m ngl. he was the kid on the playground who was always a bit too mature for the kids around him in the way that he’d be like five and stressing about his potential career paths or the state of global warming yk, always kind of had conversations with grown adults that made them do a double take just because very adult conversation coming out of a tiny kid can be kind of startling. that said, he never really quite fit in with his peers because of that, i feel like he may have even been bullied for it a bit in the past. he was definitely that kid who reminded the teacher about the homework i am not going to lie to you. 

 simon always took academics extremely seriously. he always puts pressure on himself to be perfect and get straight a’s and he is like the definition of a try hard, simon tries hard at freaking everything. his hard work pays off though, he’s been at the top of the honour roll for the past few years and he’s got more spelling bee, science fair, debate, and decathlon trophies decorating his room than he knows what to do with.

(not one for any athletics though,,, physical exercise was never simon’s strong suit)

also plays the violin and the piano, again, more evidence of him being a huge overachiever. he is actually quite talented honestly but he isn’t really incredibly passionate about either instrument. 

simon has asthma, is allergic to bees, has sleep paralysis and pretty bad anxiety. he used to get panic attacks as a child and while he hasn’t quite grown out of it, it’s not nearly as bad now. i feel like he is on medication for it though and he may even go to therapy. 

afraid of abandonment (irrational because i’m pretty sure he’s never been abandoned but it’s there) and he’s also afraid of failure, of being a disappointment to his family, of never living up to his potential (when he was younger he was advanced for his age academically so he has skipped a grade.) he fears that he’s a disappointment to his parents as a son considering he is the farthest thing one can be from a potential fbi agent, and considering he can’t even do a lap without wheezing he doesn’t think he ever will be, but he is trying to aim for forensics instead of anything in the actual field anywhere close to actual danger. kind of insecure despite his success and low, low, low, low low key kind of feels like the kid his dad brought home might be his new replacement as a son. 

one of his closest friends is the school guidance counselor atm. think edge of seventeen. he just goes in there, eats his lunch and talks to her about everything that’s going on with his life like it’s cheap therapy. 

wants to go to harvard and is a big ball of stress over it currently. he’s hit a whole new level of academic intensity and his sexuality crisis is not helping in the slightest, but it is very much happening and he doesn’t know what the hell to do about it thanks for asking. he may be bi or gay or pan or none of the above, he’s not sure and he’s not thinking about it because he doesn’t have time to be questioning his sexuality when college admissions are rearing their ugly head. 

a big introvert. can occasionally be very witty and funny if he’s comfortable you but if he’s not he tends to just be quiet and kind of awkward. tends to enjoy to spend a lot of time alone in his room playing animal crossing, or indulging in a very private hobby, drawing. 

simon has always loved art and comics and drawing but he knows they’re kind of pointless passions, like realistically he doesn’t think he will even actually become a comic book artist the odds are too low. and yet that hasn’t stopped him from doing it. drawing is really one of the only things that really calms his anxiety, and that he really enjoys doing. that and reading. so simon has secretly been drawing a comic. he hasn’t really shared it with anybody and would die if anyone found out about it. here is a moodboard for the comic (he’s going by the pen name orion kace like the nerd he is) and here are some headcannons about it. 

honestly a big sap. like lilo and stitch can still make him tear up even if he won’t admit it dkjdkj. he’s got a soft heart and kind of just wants to make sure everybody’s okay tbh. tends to worry more than he lets on which is saying something because he worries outwardly a lot too.

can be very tempermental/moody and selfish though, especially when stressed. he gets to a very self centered ‘woe is me i’m the only one with problems’ place when he’s stressed out. 

a big ass nerd! i feel that goes without saying but loves comics books, loves star wars, harry potter, and could probably recite the opening scene of game of thrones yk, that kind of nerd. 

has never gone to a party. has never smoked weed. has never snuck out. has never tasted more than a sip of alcohol. honestly, simon hasn’t done anything, and he’s okay with that.

Hello!! Thank you they are soft and I love them all :’) tbh If The Plot ever wants to reveal itself to me then I’ll post updates rip I only have bits and pieces of it atm so I’ll share some of what I have figured out ! this still might get a bit long though so I’ll put it under the cut ^^

disclaimer first of all the world they’re in is fantasy-based but the way I draw them is more modern-esque because my lazy ass doesn’t want to design their canon outfits! also they look a lot happier when I draw them anyway moving on!

there are two major kingdoms, one of humans and one of dragons, that have been on-and-off at war with each other for as long as anyone can remember. the human kingdom eventually manages to wipe out the dragons by striking a deal with (insert villain here), but once they’ve won (villain) turns against the humans and kills the royal family to claim power for themselves. So now there’s no dragons save for Shiro (blue) and maaaybe some others(?) and also the human kingdom is under (villain)’s control and it’s all a big mess

Luca (orange) is the second prince of the human kingdom and he somehow manages to not get killed like the rest of his family and instead escapes and goes into hiding in a small little fishing village where he meets Lee (red) and proceeds to befriend him and also heal Lee’s sick mother back to heath. Lee then decides to devote his life to Luca in order to repay the debt and Luca’s like ok I guess I have a self-proclaimed bodyguard now

Plot Happens and the two of them come across a travelling circus group where a certain pair of twins are currently employed. Long story short something happens with an attack and the circus tents and caravans all catch fire and Maia (pink) and Ronan (green) are like welp we’re out of a job our parents are halfway across the world where the fuck do we go,, and Luca is like hey you two seem pretty cool and know a thing or two about fighting come with us if you help me take back the throne I can arrange for you two to go back home to your parents so Maia and Ronan are like. ok ! 

(More plot..more plot….) the four of them are in a larger city probably and there’s a scuffle happening in an alleyway or smth idk. Anyway they decide to see what’s going on but as they’re making their way over Yanmei (purple) darts out in front of them, nearly takes out Ronan’s eye when he tries to check if she’s okay, and proceeds to run away farther into the city. They lose her but find her again later on so that’s cool. She’s a bit battered but most of the blood isn’t hers anyway. She refuses to talk to them for a good few hours but after realizing that they’re not leaving anytime soon she tells them that she escaped from the pleasure house where she had been forcibly employed from a young age by killing one of her clients. She agrees to come along with them on the condition that they not turn her in and promise to keep her as far away from her old boss as possible. (Luca also thinks she’s pretty but pieces together very quickly that its Not Happening, ever)

Cut to Shiro and Eden’s (grey) side of things, they’ve known each other for a very long time. They met when Eden tried to break into the palace garden and Shiro tried to kill him for it. So to speak, Eden did not die that day and instead kept coming back until Shiro eventually came to enjoy his company. That’s all in the past now though, things got much much worse! When the dragon kingdom fell Eden and two of his siblings tried to escape together, but were met by a group of dragon hunters who killed Eden’s siblings since he’s never been very powerful and wasn’t strong enough to fight them off. In a fit of desperate rage he decides to give up his name and become a demon in exchange for power to kill the hunters,, it works and they’re dead but Eden’s mind is being eaten by darkness and his personality is all over the place great job. So when he meets up with Shiro again things are very Not The Same and it’s tbh a really manipulative and emotionally abusive relationship on Eden’s part.

As for how Eden and Shiro meet up with the rest of the group….idk yet r i p. I’m thinking that they’ll recognize Luca because he’s the prince of the kingdom that destroyed theirs and who wouldn’t recognize that tbh,, so they plot to kill him and instead are convinced to join him somewhere along the way ?? Eden definitely has ulterior motives in doing so, I just haven’t figured them out yet

Enjolras

Their first name: As hilarious as it would be if all the Amis’ first name was Jean, I usually imagine Enjolras’s first name as Alexandre. (Side note: it would also be funny if his name was Victor, as in victory/Victor Hugo decided to name the hottest character after himself).Their sexual orientation: Gay. I also often imagine him as being somewhere on the ace spectrum, but I’ve read great fics where he is…decidedly not ace, so I’m not super committed to that headcanon. (Part of the reason I don’t put smut in my own fics – other than I’m terrified of writing it – is I like to leave it up to the readers if he’s ace or not, since I myself waver on where I stand).Where they come from: South of France. That’s about it. I’ve never thought about it too much, since that’s all Hugo gave us. I guess I do imagine him as growing up in a large country house.What do they study or what’s their job? Poli sci and history. And usually I imagine him as being a lawyer, running a non-profit, or being an up-and-coming politician who is going to dismantle the system from the inside.Their family: Only child. And I’m sooo in the minority in the fandom, but I imagine he has two amazing, loving parents. They’re old money, so that causes some arguments. It’s his favorite way to relax (and not just political stuff – he takes recommendations from friends because reading their favorite books is a way to see the world through their eyes). Other than that, between studying and/or work (depending on how old he is) and activism, he doesn’t have time for hobbies. But he does like supporting his friends in their various hobbies. He goes to their games and performances, and always cheers the loudest.The running joke about them among Les Amis: How unfairly beautiful he is. Seriously, has anyone ever seen him have a bad hair day? How does he never have bags under his eyes? There’s a bounty for whoever can get a picture of Enjolras where he doesn’t look good. It’s also part of the joke how completely oblivious Enjolras is about his unnatural beauty.A random fact about them: Contrary to popular opinion, he can cook. He just doesn’t want this knowledge to get out, because then he’d have to cook for everyone all the time.Bonus: Any fancast? Aaron Tveit was my first Enjolras, and remains my favorite, so I picture him a lot. (Not really a fancast if he was in the movie…) But the Enjolras I picture changes on the story I’m reading or writing? So at the end of the day, someone pretty and blond.

Their first name: HenriTheir sexual orientation: GayWhere they come from: South of France, in the suburbs.What do they study or what’s their job? Medical student/doctor. I could also see him as a professor.Their family: Only child to busy top-of-their-field professionals, who love him, but didn’t spend much time with him. His parents got divorced, and he’s closer to his mother.Their hobby: He cannot pick one. Canon had a pretty comprehensive list: studying insects, Egyptology, correcting the dictionary (nerd), going to the opera. I imagine he likes astronomy a lot. He just tries every new thing he has time for. Has a bad habit of picking up a hobby, becoming obsessed, then dropping it like 3 months later.The running joke about them among Les Amis: That he is magic and can fix anything. (It’s also true, but they like to joke about it). They also joke about his Disappointed face and voice, but they joke because they are afraid of it.A random fact about them: When he was a kid he wanted to be Indiana Jones.Bonus: Any fancast? Loving parents.Their hobby: Party planning. I’m talking Leslie Knope level of intense, perfect parties. He also celebrates every single obscure holiday, like Leslie. Something art-related. Sometimes I imagine him as a very popular, but very cynical political cartoonist. Could also see him as like a freelancer, doing restaurant reviews, and photography, and then teaching random art classes to pay the bills.Their family: One younger sister. Not especially close to his parents, especially his dad, but they can get through one or two family dinners a year without a complete catastrophe.Their hobby: Dancing, obscure martial arts (like single stick. Who the fuck does single stick? Grantaire does), experimenting in the kitchen (it’s either delicious or death. For some reason, that’s how I remember it, so I imagine him as coming from somewhere in Northern France. (I don’t know France well enough to say where exactly…)What do they study or what’s their job? Was a law student, but dropped out. Now he mainly does administrative work in various offices. He always brightens up whatever office he’s working in.Their family: Divorced parents. He calls them once or twice a month, but isn’t particularly close to them.Their hobby: Watching terrible movies. And conspiracy documentaries. He also likes to do cool card tricks, but always messes up when he tries to show people. (It’s okay though.He knows he can do it and that’s enoug for him).The running joke about them among Les Amis: He has a freakishly good sense of direction. Bahorel has dragged him out on some truly horrendous double dates, regardless of his orientation.Where they come from: A city. Probably Paris.What do they study or what’s their job? He studies whatever books he can get his hands on. He does a lot of handiwork, and has worked in a few kitchens and shops.Their family: The Amis! The Amis are his family! (I imagine he also was in a bunch of foster homes, and I kind of like him and Montparnasse being in the same one. And while they’re not like friends they both have each other’s backs no matter what and so are brothers in that way).Their hobby: Arts and crafts! So he slept with another guy and was like…well that was fun, but no, still straight. I kind of imagine Bahorel doing that).Where they come from: A small town in the south of FranceWhat do they study or what’s their job? An eternal law student. He eventually becomes like a personal trainer, or teaches self-defense classes.Their family: Two slightly older, doting parentsTheir hobby: Boxing, Muay Thai, but he’s down to learn any combat style. (I think the idea of Jehan being fascinated by romantic relationships but not feeling romantic attraction themselves is an interesting thing to explore).Where they come from: Like Aphrodite, Jehan floated in from the sea, fully formed. (jk. South of France).What do they study or what’s their job? They study literature and/or poetry. And some kind of Asian studies. (canon Jehan was interested in Asian cultures). They work at either a used bookstore or a plant shop, and write on the side. Their family: Single dad. Was very close to their grandmother before she died.Their hobby: Poetry, obviously. Long walks in nature. Exploring cemeteries.The running joke about them among Les Amis: No one’s actually seen where they live. So whenever the Amis watch a movie or something together, someone will point at the screen and go “that’s Jehan’s house”, and they’ll always be pointing at some dilapidated mansion, or giant Gothic castle, or a spooky crypt, or somewhere ridiculous.A random fact about them: They actually live in a normal studio that is their sanctuary. hello! thanks so much for taking on my request. i know my original request was...sort of broad. i hope this letter can better explain what exactly i was talking about.

so like i said in my request, i have this super-deep love for the gen iv games. i love them for a lot of reasons, and a big one is how gen iv was, for me, the first set of pokemon games that sort of hinted at a more connected pokemon world. the reference to the lake of rage incident at the beginning of D/P, the appearance of jasmine on sunyshore’s beach, the existence of the sinjoh ruins, the connections between arceus and the unknown...imo, it implies an intercultural history between sinnoh and johto, where there was a lot of give-and-take between these two regions, despite how different they are, or how far away they may be from each other.

i would really love to see that explored in fanwork. whether through the lens of a particular pov character, or through a series of vignettes, whatever strikes your fancy! for a more general journey-type fic, i would love a study of contrasts between the two regions. aesthetically, culturally, spiritually....i love a solid worldbuilding fic, so maybe you could use the contrast between the two to delve into the specifics of each. idk!!

for a more character-specific work, it’d be cool to see characters from one region visiting the other, maybe finding similarities to their home? i’m a sucker for that kind of nostalgic, deja vu feeling you sometimes get even when you’re far away from home. my fave characters in gen iv are probably the sinnoh trio (dawn/lucas/barry) and gym leaders/E4 (especially fantina and cynthia), so bonus if one of them is the POV character, ha. 

if ship-fics are more your thing, that’s awesome too!! (i’m looking back at my request rn and am realizing i probably should’ve made my ship requests separate from my gen request. SORRY!)

my fave pokemon game ships atm are morty/whitney, kris/red, and volkner/jasmine, in that order. morty/whitney is the one i like the fluffiest; i think of morty as very...detached from most things, not really caring about the way he’s perceived, while whitney is the exact opposite lol. so there’s room for humor there if you want it??

kris/red i like angsty and intense. i think they’re both very competitive, even if red doesn’t show it as much as kris does, and i think kris might resent red on some level bc he LEAVES and nobody forgets him and she STAYS and nobody remembers her. DRAMA!

jasmine/volkner...they’re a bit more lowkey lmao. but also the most classically romantic i think? there’s a lot of nautical vibes there. lighthouses, beaches, waiting by the sea, etc. i wouldn’t mind if this ended in bittersweet way....i think both of them are people who have trouble hanging on to what they want.
