costume ideas that didn't make the cut for the fangame:
really struggled with Marcie's costume for some reason. ideas included Dr. Henry Killinger, (purely due to the mask design hence it being scrapped, couldn't actually think of a good joke,) the Boognish (good alt rock joke but did not work as an actual costume) and finally a dual costume with the Spook as The Money Store album cover.
Considered doing Pusman as Judge Holden but wasn't fond of the idea of just illustrating my concept of what the character would look like as someone else's costume. Enoch wound up being close enough visually, anyway, but I do feel "that which exists without saturated fat exists without my consent" is a missed joke opportunity admittedly.
also struggled with Handy & Mandy. thought about various identical/split characters before settling on salt and pepper- i liked the idea of them not going as any actual people or characters and just arbitrarily going towards "things that go together" and being the only people there who aren't dressed as an actual reference to something. Zorn & Thorn from FF9 were a close second choice though.
Tammy was the last character i really struggled to come up with a joke for because there were too many but also a lot of them felt like they didn't really fit her? Sadako, sure, but that would basically just be putting Tammy in a white dress and dribbling some black food coloring in her hair. The best gag would've been the Kaernk from Amnesia but that's uh, invisible. so no.
finally, I also considered having Blue as N. Senada, but i didn't want to go completely self indulgent with Residents stuff since I already ripped a sample for the background music.
FUCK I FUCKING FORGOT BABY BIRD FUUUUUUUUUUUCK LIKE BABY BIRD COULD'VE BEEN A UHHHHHHH IDK A DIFFERENT TYPE OF BIRD OR SOMETHING!

s2, ep10 i think it's really cute that monarch lets his henchies sit at the council table with him and important peoples since gf isn't there but also to be honest i think he lowkey just doesn't gaf and 21 + 24 are his most trusted day one duo but whatever - look at how heated these two are. like parents being introduced to the bad influence in their kid's life
Tumblr media
i also really like how monarch gives his henchies room to bitch at others sometimes. most other villains/bosses would keep them mute. this isn't the only time a henchie has had a comment and spoken without permission to someone monarch is dealing with (given, it's usually not them scowling at a person)
Tumblr media
or maybe 21 and 24 just get the priveledge bc they're the favorites who knows anyways, boyfriend 4 life
Tumblr media
"HE'S RIGHT!!!!!" backing up his BOYFRIEND
Tumblr media
"YEAH WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE????" they are very passionate about this lol
Tumblr media
AND HERE COMES THAT STRANGELY GAY BIT I WAS TALKING AB IN THE OTHER POST EARLIER "WITH HIS BABY BEARING HIPS" WHY WOULD HE SAY THIS??? WHY WAS HE PAYING ATTENTION TO THAT??? MY GOD.
Tumblr media
anyways, this is when we get our second gayest moment of the episode (there is more to come) honestly with me EVERY moment is a gay moment because have you SEEN the show??? lmaooo
Tumblr media
we also get a pretty good monarch face. he's usually not this insulted when someone makes a comment on a person he's kicking it with (at least to my memory)
Tumblr media
he's REALLY trying to fill in that dr gf void bad
Tumblr media
"NOBODY TALKS TO MY HOT NEW NUMBER TWO LIKE THAT!"
there was no reason to call henry hot. he's VERY all over henry so far into this ep which is strange bc usually he's like.. a bit more bitchy to whoever he's hanging out with? like henry showed up out of nowhere, monarch didn't question it, and immediately took him in. he wanted that man so bad it made him stupid.
Tumblr media
(。•́︿•̀。) gulp..
Tumblr media
!!!!! (O∆O) !!!!! really cute henchman faces in this episode, ik i already mentioned it, but whats the harm in saying it again? this is genuinely one of the better episodes in season 2. i love it.
Tumblr media
also, there is implied.. questionable.. "torture" from the monarch. which i like. a lot.
Tumblr media
" i'm gonna let you do number 993, because you.. seem to have bigger thumbs than me -" WHAT DID HE MEAN BY THIS???? THIS HAS TO BE BUTTHOLE STUFF I AM NOT CRAZY!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
and a pretty cute monarch face lol (also peep the neck fats on killinger i think thats cutesy) "i'm not doing butthole stuff to the henchmen with you malcom let me just talk to the guy.. sheesh.."
Tumblr media
also this one so i can point out the size difference between OUR henchmen and KILLINGER'S henchmen.. woahg.. they could crush this little guy (positive) like i know split roast potential when i see it

What’s your All or Nothing AU about? I’m pretty curious about it, IK it focuses on Dr. Venture (had hair LOL) and Dr. Orpheus. Srsly I am interested about it and its lore. 👀
I'm really gonna try hard to be brief here.
The basic gist is that after Season 2 Ep. 10 "I Know Why the Caged Bird Kills", Byron and Rusty start dating. Their relationship is rocky at first for various reason, like the fact that Rusty is kind of a terrible person and has a lot of internalized homophobia and Byron's unresolved trauma following his divorce along with his rather lawful personality clashing with Rusty's chaotic nature. They do fall in love, of course. I'm not in the business of writing a slowburn with this one. Dr. Henry Killinger showing up during Season 3 Ep. 2 "The Doctor Is Sin" is a major turning point for Rusty in the fic. Upon the revelation that Rusty is in love with Byron, Killinger switches from setting Rusty up as a supervillain to setting him up for superscience success. Ya know. Because Byron wouldn't like dating a villain. It's hard work, but by following Killinger's 'Action Plan', Rusty's able to go from literal joke to a superscience powerhouse. The fic is split into two parts. The first part is a pretty straightforward romance that goes over Rusty and Byron's relationship up to and a little ways after them getting married during the events of All This and Gargantua-2. The second part is more of an action-thriller that goes over Rusty's fight against... well... everybody. First it's just Guild, but after Rusty gets shot in the head during a protest in NYC, he declares war on the NYPD. Not like, actual gunfire and bullets war, but when you're a billionaire living in the USA, you can do a lot of shit that makes life difficult for people and Rusty is nothing if not petty. By sheer unbridled spite, he starts threatening to tip the balance of power that the OSI has carefully maintained so Hunter declares him too dangerous to live. Turns out, though, that it's incredibly hard to kill Rusty now since he has been training to not be hit and also is married to a dude who can bring people back from the dead. But while Hunter is concerned with Rusty taking over the world because he's too petty to stop and think, Rusty's concerned with something way beyond the scope of governments and Secret Governments. Aliens. Okay, okay, hang on, now - Aliens are canon to Venture Bros. In Season 2 Ep. 5 "20 Years To Midnight" we actually see two different aliens. One of them happens to be one I quote all the time with the wonderful line "IGNORE ME!" But like... if Jonas Sr was communicating with aliens to the point where 20 Years To Midnight happens and he maybe felt like the construction of Gargantua-1 was necessary (this is just me speculating) then why don't we see them again? (Probably because the series was cancelled i'm fiiineeee :'''3) but I think with both Rusty and Byron advancing their respective talents in leaps and bounds to the point where OSI considers them too dangerous to be left alone, then a threat from outside Earth makes perfect sense.
Plus, this way I can also write "Hyper-Competent 21, The Monarch, and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch Threesome" because The Monarch always steps up his game to match Rusty's EMA (Equally Matched Aggression Rating) and I love that also sooo But why does Rusty have hair? During the events of the fic, Rusty takes a look at the DNA sequences his dad left behind and realizes that his genome is fucked up. (This is canonically confirmed in Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart, but is something that you can glean through other episodes/seasons.) In fic, he goes in and uses gene therapy to patch things up a bit which causes some minor physical changes.
Don't get me wrong, I also love canon Rusty. He's a pathetic lil meow meow, a totally wet lil bastard, and I love him. I have nothing wrong with his bald headed-ness, but this way you/I can see the progression of him in fic from Pathetic Bastard to Hyper-competent Alien Fighter depending on how much hair and which facial scars he has. Same thing with Byron and his scars and how pointy I draw his ears and teeth.

The Venture Bros. #25: “I Know Why the Caged Bird Kills” | September 24, 2006 | S02E10
This is a strong contender for favorite Venture Bros. episode. This is the episode where I officially became a fan.
In “I Know Why the Caged Bird Kills” (I get self-conscious for starting summaries this way, I mean when I say “In ‘[episode title]’ to start off. I wonder if anyone even gives a fuck), Hank and Dean are kidnapped by Myra, a woman who claims to be their biological mother. Meanwhile, Dr. Venture is being stalked by a Japanese demon that only he and Dr. Orpheus can see. The demon is tethered to Venture, and eventually starts dragging him towards: wouldn't you know it: the crappy roadside motel where the boys are being held captive.
Meanwhile Brock spends some quality time with H.E.L.P.eR hot on the boys' trial. There's also a near entirely-separate subplot with the Monarch, who is visited by Dr. Henry Killinger and his magic murder bag. He starts whipping the cocoon into shape after a botched raid on Venture's secret compound (he accidentally attacks a random office building because he has the wrong address). 21 is wary of this outsider, and gets the long-absent Dr. Girlfriend to come fight him or whatever. It turns out this was Killinger's plan all along, to have Dr. Girlfriend show up so he can reunite the two lovers. He's nice! (he's also revealed to be the behind the Japanese demon stalking Venture in a post-credits sequence, apparently trying to reunite the two of them).
At the time of this episode's airing, I was still not a committed Venture Bros. fan. My (Hank Hill voice) journey to fandom (regular voice) was roughly this: Saw the pilot (hated it). Watched the first series episode (didn't hate it, but it didn't suck me in). Didn't really watch it after that, but noticed my friends becoming fans and sorta kept up with it a little bit through osmosis (so I knew the season ended with Hank and Dean dying and that they come back as clones). Watched the first Adult Swim Have-It-Your-Way marathon which featured a handful of strong season one episodes. Thought “Okay! This show is better than I thought it would be”. Still didn't start watching it. Saw half of “Victor. Echo. November”, noticed that respected comic writer/performer Stephen Colbert was in the guest cast and thought maybe I should try this show again. And then this episode actually sucked me in. I tried it. I LOVED it!
I went out and bought Season One on DVD shortly after this and watched everything. Downloaded all the second season two episodes from a secret website for grown men who love cartoons, and watched all of them (this act singularly got me into the idea of torrenting shows I liked instead of meticulously searching for them on TV and recording them myself). I was now a regular viewer of The Venture Bros.
This one is just especially funny and has a lot of great scenes. The beauty of this episode is that it mostly works as a standalone episode. I had a little knowledge of the series from before, which is the only way the bit at the end where Brock almost carelessly reveals to the boys that they are clones makes much sense. But the Dr. Girlfriend reveal, while steeped in the show's continuity, is sorta set up in dialogue at the beginning. The story never drags. The moments of pure comedy are hilarious. H.E.L.P.eR quoting Maya Angelou to Brock, Dr. Orpheous exclaiming “they smell MY cat!”, Dr. Venture ending the episode with the line “Alright! So I fucked her! What of it?”. It's all so great.
One of the greatest scenes in all of Venture Bros. has to be Brock's insane action move he does when Myra attempts to run him down with the car. It needs to be seen to be believed. Hopefully you have already seen this episode. I mean, Jesus. If you're first experience of this episode is reading this write-up then you are fuuuuuucked.
Myra's status of being Hank and Dean's mother was something of a mystery for years, until a few seasons later when they did an episode that directly answered for this. The truth is Jackson and Doc had no idea how true any of Myra's claims were when they wrote the episode. She comes off like a crazy person, and Venture tells the boys she IS a crazy person, but if he had a reason to lie about her being their mother then he'd definitely do it. So, I guess stay tuned!

On Dr. Henry Killinger
So no one REALLY knows whether Dr. Killinger is a good guy or bad guy, or some benevolent/neutral force, mostly guiding people to be the best villains possible. He is purposefully mysterious, even after all this time and all the reveals. But one nagging question  is what is his interest in Dr.Venture?
In I Know Why the Caged Bird Kills, he is shown to have set the Oni on Dr. Venture. Most believe it to have been a ploy to bring Myra and Venture back together, as if she WAS the boys mother, but it is later established that she definitely is NOT their mom. ALSO when Dr. Killinger reunites with the Oni he laments that he could not reunite them, but that at least the Oni helped save his (Dr. Venture’s) boys. This establishes both that A) Myra was and is a danger to the boys and B) she WAS renuited with Venture so that couldn’t have been what Killinger had intended to do.
Then of course there is The Doctor is Sin. He COULD have just wanted Venture to accept his jealousy and hatred of his brother, OR he could have been trying to show Venture where a path like that could lead him, and make him decide if that’s who he wants to be.
Overall there are just so many questions as to WHY Killinger has tried to involve himself in Dr. Venture’s life. The only other person I can think of that Killinger would try to reunite Venture with, out in the desert, would be his father in the ProBLEM from Gargantua 1 (which fell out of the sky just the episode before). If it were any other show I’d say they just they didn’t really think about when they put it in.

s2, ep10 I KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD KILLS decided to get lazy again! sorry for the wait! (not that any of you were actually waiting, but for the sake of my ego pretend that you were and that this is the highlight of your night or something idk). SO! we're back to the monarchs! the bug lovers are about as gay as ever, and (once again) i can't help but swoon over the black guards - especially when put up against the monarch henchies.
Tumblr media
guhhh they're just so badass and cool.. i should REALLY get to drawing them.. hopefully when my art block wears off i'll find myself competent enough to do so eee
Tumblr media
AND HERE'S GARY! just looking to break good ol' reliable 24 out of his holding cell. something that i find curious about this segment is Gary's ruse/bypass excuse. he claims that he's there to 'administer' 24's 'medication' - which is a good enough lie all on it's own.
Tumblr media
of course, the black guards then insist on administering the medication to 24 themselves - in response, Gary lies and warns them that it's: "y'know.. it's (up the butt) medicine--" and then they IMMEDIATELY lay off and let him through. this little bit right here just sort of confirms that there are PEOPLE OUT THERE within venture bros canon that continue to live their daily lives under the assumption that Gary stuck his fingers up 24's ass :-| people canonically believe that Gary fingered 24. which is funny. at least to me it is blehhh also if i'm being entirely honest? Gary would totally stick his fingers up 24's ass if it meant helping him out with a health risk or whatever. i just KNOW it'd be a thing. they're boyfriends. 24 wouldn't even really need to ask him twice - they'd go tit for tat over who has helped who more/sacrificed the most for eachother before Gary would go: "(LE SIGHH) okay fine whatever just please don't say anything while i do it and DON'T ask me to do it again smhh </3" (he'd do it again in a heartbeat they r best friends yaoi lovers)
Tumblr media
BACK TO THE EPISODE!!! Gary walks in on him wanking it lol xc i really like 24's face lol. i mean, he's kind of uggo but not really? he looks like bert from sesame street, which is cute - and he has a weird muppet voice, but that's also cute. something i've always liked about venture bros was their talent to make the strangest looking men somewhat desirable. i want to put this guy in a jar, maybe my pocket.
Tumblr media
Gary immediately starts asking questions about Henry and what happened - also asks about what's in the magic murder bag. you know. not even bothering to acknowledge the fact 24 had his wenis out. because he's gay,
Tumblr media
^c^!!! 24 is very cute in these shots!
Tumblr media
oh, and he basically confirms that Killinger is actually a sort of chill guy or whatever, but Gary disagrees
Tumblr media
we get some villainous dork Gary moments here too (he's always a villainous dork, but some moments shine through more than others obviously lol)
Tumblr media
"he knows nothing about honor, or living by the sword-- he is not like us." uggghhhhh shut up shut up shut up shut up shut uppppp he is only amusing to his boyfriend and that's about it we need to kill this guy or get him a muzzle or SOMETHING
Tumblr media
"WHAT are you TALKING about??" even 24 thinks Gary is insane </3
Tumblr media
gary tiddy check out the gary tiddy he essentially yammers on about how he's SURE that "that killinger guy" has brainwashed the entirety of the hive. it's kind of cute and funny, you can tell that he's just being a paranoid nerd here.. smh.. he's only happy when his ginger baddie is treating them all like shit i guess x_x
Tumblr media
uuuhhh this shot is mostly for me to use as reference later ignore it but ahhh 24 shuts that down and raves on about Dr Killinger and how he's amazing and cured his herpes or whatever (also whispered about how he could help Gary with ""his problem"") (whatever that is lol) the herpes thing never really gets brought up by 24 fans. strange but fair. it'd be like me bringing up the fact that Brock is part swedish. it's useless trivia lol. but still pretty interesting that no one seems to remember or talk about it. idk. ehh.
Tumblr media
Gary doesn't take 24's positive opinion of Dr Killinger all that well and proceeds to have a slight (but not really) ""freak out"" over it-- "oh he's already got to you! don't touch me, stay back! stay back, pod person!" i honestly don't even really think Gary's ACTUALLY 100% upset over it. he's just really dramatic and already bothered by Killinger's presence lmao
Tumblr media
"alright whatever ( ̄ _ ̄ ;)" and 24's just used to Gary's weird nature. he's so over it. his boyfriend amuses him and i think that's cute eee
