Wow the world really is nicer when I take ALL my meds lmao
For context my dr forgot to call in a refill and I didnt notice for two weeks straight lmao
Like I was walking yesterday and pointing out how cute everyone's yards looked sggdgdgd like "oh they have little flower boxes in the windows and hanging baskets. That's so cute" "aww I really like that pink house (which people on nextdoor HATE bc its salmon pink) I think it would be really cute with white shutters and flower boxes. I'd get those big stickers you can put on walls of like flowers or paint big flowers on the sides. So cute."
Then admiring our own yard agdgdggdgd like we have two MASSIVE like 8ft tall no joke rose bushes and people either LOVE LOVE LOVE them and stop to comment when we're out, or haaaaaaate them and will bring it up multiple times in conversation sgdggdgdgd like "doesnt that bother you?? That it's overgrown inside the fence?" Like no lmao I did that on purpose when it was small I weave the branches in and out for support and aesthetic
Anyway I knew I liked gardening a lot but the past few days I've genuinely felt so happy doing it. Like I stopped and made myself acknowledge that I'm feeling JOY bc you tend to gloss over the moments of happiness with severe depression
Anyways my garden looks great and I cant wait to see it flourish đ„°

[Full Masterlist]
Beta: @fluffy-fluffu @taegularities @xiaokooâ (if I forgot someone let me know, some people were in anon) Rating: Teen+ Pairing: Jimin x Reader Genre: Fluff, fantasy, adventure, angst, scifi, Romance, mystery, Words: 12.6K
Summary: When trying to find a place to sleep the reader finds an elevator that only goes down. When it reaches the bottom, the reader is met with a new world and new civilization. Have you found somewhere you belong or are you in over your head.
You were looking for a place to sleep. The train station had two areas: the new and improved station on the ground level and the old and abandoned level underground. The underground level was blocked off, but you needed somewhere to sleep. No amount of graffiti, rats or even kids with cans of spray paint could stop you.Â
You slipped past the fence and headed down the stairs until you reached the old abandoned floor below. You could hear every footstep that echoed. With the limited light from the platform at the top of the stairs you could only make out outlines of pillars and benches. You would turn on a light but that would give your position away.Â
While finding the edge of the platform you almost fell onto the tracks. Jumping down, you followed the wall till you reached the little maintenance rooms at the end of the long almost pitch black tunnel. You were hoping you could find one with either a power socket for your phone or a built-in phone to call out. Though who would you call? You were homeless, meaning you had exerted all other options and lost the âfriendsâ you thought you had.
Hand colliding with a doorknob -that would leave a bruise- you stepped inside and waited. Hoping you were alone but not able to guarantee, you had to work up the courage to turn on a light.Â
Deciding to flip the light switch, you gave yourself a mental pep talk. After all, if you were to die anyway it wouldnât matter if you exposed yourself to hidden demons, devils, ghosts, murderers, or crazies.
The place was empty and small. You saw an old-style computer, the type thatâs all bulky and awkward in shape. The huge monitor had an ugly keyboard built in and a long wire leading to the mouse. What, was this built in the eighties? You assumed the motherboard was underneath as such. Â
Turning on the light, you looked around intrigued - this place was clean, like seriously clean. This platform and train line had all been abandoned, so who was coming here to clean it? Even if it was a maintenance room, it was odd, and everything inside was old which made sense, except the elevator in the corner.Â
The elevator gave many red flags: the fact there was only a down function, and the fact it seemed to be clean like the rest of the room somehow made it worse. You walked over and found a clipboard on the desk; eyeing the bin beside the desk, you noticed the empty can of coke.Â
Someone signed off on maintenance just yesterday. Again, who was performing maintenance on an abandoned rail line? Especially on the vintage equipment. Turning to face the elevator, the proverbial curious cat inside you clawed at the thought of where the elevator would take you. Could it be another floor, a secret base, some machinery storage or perhaps, you thought morbidly, hell?Â
Taking the chance, you pressed the call button for the elevator. The doors slid open, lights flickering on overhead and you heard the bell chime to indicate the elevator had reached. Stepping inside nothing seemed off at first glance. Pressing the down button, you waited as the elevator descended. It all seemed normal. That was until an entire floor length passed.Â
You grew worried, you had been descending further than you anticipated.
The elevator continued on its journey downwards while you sat on the floor, now worried about what you would come across in the end. You had noticed the government symbol on the floor of the elevator and that made everything even more suspicious. But a part of you was happy you had somewhere safe -albeit cold- to sleep, even if it was an elevator.
When the elevator finally stopped, you saw twinkling lights in the sky which were lightening to a peachy color. It was like you were outside, but that was impossible. You had gone underground, you know you did, and even if you had somehow gone up, you would be on the city streets outside the train station, not in some beautiful parkland.
You stood there in awe, watching the sunrise, taking a moment to fully appreciate the scenery. Something you didnât do quite often. You had been locked up in the safe confines of your room for a long time and it took being homeless to really appreciate nature and things it had to offer, like the rising sun. The air was refreshing and the sounds of the animals were mingling with the constant from the river in a calming harmony.Â
You heard a sound and whipped around to look for the cause, when you heard a gasp.Â
âAre you the Almighty?âÂ
Your heart hammered in your chest. The only thing you noticed was how sweet the voice was. Why was someone down here? This was getting weird, something was going on and you were scared to find out what it was.
Your eyes darted around trying to find the person down there with you when you finally saw him. In front of you stood the most beautiful person you had ever seen, ethereal and perfect. You knew you were pretty good looking, but your recent lack of home meant you werenât as clean as you wished to be.
As you examined him further, you noticed little things like how his long brown hair was tied intricately with ribboned fastens, and peaking through the hair were two pointed ears. It was odd but the more you looked at him, the more you realized how inhuman he really looked.
He seemed to be looking at you the same way, studying your shorter stature and lack of pointed ears with a curious look on his face. You had seen elves before, in movies, the Christmas type and the fairytale kind, and you had to admit Legolas had nothing on this man.
His dark eyes sparkled bright like the stars as they examined you, âHello, do you understand me?â His voice was so eerily soft, it caused you to shrink. He smiled at your reaction before speaking softly, âI wonât hurt you.â
âWhere am I?â You asked this time, causing him to look shocked. His smile became wider, showing off his pearly white teeth.
âYou do understand me.â He stepped forward, making you cower back at his advances. âWhat is it like in the heavens? Is this your vessel?âÂ
He grinned looking around you and at the elevator, smiling and tapping at it, âYou must come back to the village and we will hold a celebration.â
He took your arm and led you through the trees. He didnât seem to be rushed nor did he feel threatening in any wayHe just gently guided you along, asking you questions. He didnât really give you time to answer before he started talking again.Â
âTell me, are you one of the Almighty? I have never met an Almighty before, we pray to them and they give us gifts from the heavens. I have only met elves and that is it. What is your name?â He turned and just as you were about to answer he continued, âMy name is Jimin.â
The whole trip you learned a lot about Jimin, he was excitable, he liked to talk, listen when needed and he also liked dancing and being mischievous. He said the other elves ignored him because he wasnât noble or rich. He wasnât as well-bred as the others.
âYou are so tiny, Yoongi will be happy, he is the shortest Elf you will ever meet. Well, I assume elves, where you are from, are quite tall.â He laughed.
âUm, I have never met an elf before,â you plucked up the courage to admit and his eyes turned to youIt was apparent that he was shocked. âSorry.â
âSo, Elves donât exist where you are from?â He asked, watching you nervously shake your head. âThat is so strange.â
As you continued walking, the sun rose some more and you began to notice a few more things that shocked you. You had realized the whole place was an artificial world. It seemed to go on for a fairway, you could just see walls of vines and greenery, but there were lights that simulated artificial daylight.Â
The roof had screens showing a fake sky - there must have been UV lights as the trees and vegetation seemed to be growing well. Then, of course, there was the elevator shaft you had been in before: the further you walked along the road, the more animals, buildings and people you had seen.Â
They turned to you, gawking at your differences and style of dress. To them, you must have appeared like a filthy child dressed in rags. To you, they were a beautiful community draped in the finest of fabrics. They were dressed in a style you could only describe as a mix between a Sari and a greek Toga. Even Jimin who told you he wasnât noble or rich was dressed better than yourself. It was then that you noticed how big this underground ecosystem really was and on top of that, the people were all beautiful beyond comparison.Â
They all looked scared of you, each tripping over themselves to show you around and lavish you in gifts. Jimin had rushed off once a noble woman had spotted you. He left you in her care, deeming himself no longer worthy of your presence. You watched how the elves lived and played with the children.
The tour of the village was long, your legs growing tired, merchants giving you fruits and tea. You were going through the town centre, walking between stalls. People busily rushing past. You caught Jiminâs eye. He seemed to be teaching something to some slightly younger elves, and when one fell, he helped them up and brushed off the dirt from their pants before giving some words of encouragement.
You met many people before you were taken to a small bathhouse to be washed and buffed, your hair was brushed and twisted into a beautiful hairstyle. The fabrics wrapped and draped around you were more expensive than any piece of clothing you had ever owned in your life.
Feeling cleaner than you had in a long time, you were led into one of the elaborate buildings before they sat you down, giving you food and entertaining you. They called for dancers and there he was, stepping out in silks and lace, spinning and leaping, moving as if he was weightless. Jimin truly was beautiful.Â
After his dance, he was ushered away and a woman stepped out, âI am Lady Adora and I am the leader of the village. I have brought to you some of the finest men. Pick any elf you wish, they are noble, each pleasing to the eyes and well educated.â
Was she trying to sell you a man? This seemed to be some weird arranged marriage business. You were led out from behind the dining table and asked to walk down the line, âThis one is the eldest, Kim Seokjin - he is handsome and romantic, he has good heritage. Next is Min Yoongi, who is shorter than the average elf, but he is creative and enjoys the simple things.â Just as you thought, this was like the bachelorette and you were supposed to pick someone. Admittedly they were all gorgeous, it was insane. âJung Hoseok is from a brilliant family of scholars and he has a cheerful disposition; he is friendly and caring.â Lady Adora continued.
âKim Namjoon is a genius, he has a love for nature and is from a good family. Kim Taehyung is a little odd, but he is refreshingly curious and has equally refreshing features.â Your eye caught sight of the dancers; there he was in his soft silks and laces, peeking from behind a pillar. Behind him, some small elves also seemed to be peeking at you curiously.
He shushed them as you stepped up to the last young man, âThis is our youngest, a very talented man, he is from a good family and he strives for perfection.â
âThey are all very nice looking,â you said with a smile.
âWould you like to have them all?â The elf leader spoke up in confusion.Â
âNo, thatâs not what I meant,â you backpedaled quickly, âI was just admiring their skills and beauty as you had described them to be, very handsome individuals with good backgrounds.â
You saw the dancer giggle into his bell sleeve and subconsciously smiled back at him. You were led back to the table and sat down, âYou can choose any of the eligible young elves within the village, has anyone caught your eye?â Adora asked sitting beside you and handing you a drink. âYou have plenty of time to decide. How about some more festivities? Dancers!â
Jimin raced back into the clearing of the dining hall. He knew he wasnât a noble or anyone particularly worthy of being with an Almighty. The Almighties were the beings they prayed to in order to receive gifts from the heavens. This Almighty was a gift from the heavens for the people and he knew that she had to be treated favorably, so as to please the Almighty.
Jimin had never seen anything like you before, your beauty was subtle, hidden but under the right circumstances you bloomed like a flower. He enjoyed watching your expressions as he danced. It was the reason he chose to dance, to make the Almighty happy with each performance.
âHe dances so well,â you smiled; he could hear you and a part of him hoped it was you he was talking about. âThe one in the black and red silks with the red lace.â
âThat is Jimin, would you like him?â Upon hearing Lady Adora offering him of all people, he stumbled and the music stopped. You rushed out around the table, but he was already scurrying into a bow as if he was begging for his life. Sitting on his feet, hands flat on the floor and his forehead touching the ground. He did this whilst crawling backwards away from you.
âJimin,â you whispered, lifting his head. It was cheesy how his heart fluttered in his chest when your eyes locked on his. His mouth fell open, he believed he saw you blush, his breath caught in his throat. Did he say your beauty was subtle? He was wrong.
âI am sorry, I will go repent,â he said, bowing low again.
âPlease forgive Jimin, he must have been light-headed,â Adora said as if trying to calm you. He never believed in the elfâs stupid idea of love at first sight, but there he was, in love.Â
Taking his hands in yours, you lifted him and guided him to the table. He almost choked when you tried to make him sit in your chair. Jimin dug his feet into the ground when you tried to lead him up the steps to your seat. He felt uneasy with the whole room watching him struggle and eventually sat down on the step below you, graciously accepting the food and drinks you offered albeit embarrassed.Â
âI am sorry that I didnât perform well,â Jimin spoke sadly, his ears and cheeks aflame. âI will make sure to be better next time.â
âYou are a beautiful and elegant dancer and I enjoyed watching the way you moved to the music.â Your words sounded so warm and the accent was unlike anything he had ever heard. His brain got past your voice and caught up with what you had said and he ducked his head from how red his cheeks had become.
âYou are too kind, I-'' He was cut off by Adora asking if you had decided on an elf. You leaned over to Jimin.
âWhy am I supposed to choose an elf?â you asked. Jimin took a sharp breath, your hair had brushed his shoulder and he lost himself in your eyes, âWhat does choosing an elf mean?â
Jimin laughed almost in stitches. You didnât know why these elves were being presented to you and he decided to explain it all before you had to choose. Because what if you chose randomly and didnât like the elf? He wanted you to be happy. Even if a small part of him was jealous of the noble elves. You would be stuck with them together for eternity after all.
âLady Adora, I think it would be best to explain to the Almighty why she is choosing a suitor,â Jimin prompted, lowering his head. She was a caring leader, but he still wanted to show her respect. Everyone in the community knew one another, and Lady Adora had practically raised him. Though elves could live forever, there had been times where elves had lost their lives.Â
These times included when the Almighty would be angered and come down from the heavens and take those they wished, laying waste to anyone who got in their way. Jimin was familiar with this notion: his father had been the previous leader of the village - he had tried to stop the Almighty from taking some of the innocent elves. Jimin was only a baby when he and a few other children were taken.Â
Jiminâs parents fought hard, but they were both killed in the process for interfering with the Almightyâs plans. The children were returned, unharmed, but the damage was done. Jimin was orphaned. It was strange. Jimin was so young, so he didnât know what had happened, but it seemed none of the children taken really remembered what happened either.Â
âThe Almighty will be blessed with any elf she chooses to spend the rest of her life with,â Adora explained smiling; it was amusing to see the realization on your face. âThe elves will now demonstrate their specialty energy.â
They had magic, they were air and water benders or something. These were real Naruto jutsus. You were about to lose your mind. âPick a husband, and guess what their secret powers are.â Thatâs what she should have said in the first place. Jimin had almost wet himself, giggling at your expense when he realized you didnât know what this whole celebration was for. They were celebrating you and apparently your gift was an eternal super hot elf husband.
âWho do you choose?â Adora asked and you froze. This had to be some sort of fever dream. The elevator collapsed on you and you died, the rats underground were probably eating your body as you dreamt this.
âDoes everyone have powers?â You asked Jimin and he held out his hand where a glowing orb appeared, âWhatâs that?â
âI can heal things.â He smiled, healing being something he believed stemmed from his parents deaths. Cultivated with the hopes of never suffering loss again. âDo you want me to explain to Adora that you need more time?â
âWe can have the boys answer some questions if you would like?â Adora seemed desperate.
âI think I will need more time to choose properly â you said, squaring your shoulders definitively and Lady Adora nodded approvingly.Â
âExcellent,â she clapped her hands, âyou shall all get to know each other before choosing.â
The dinner and celebrations raged on filled with laughter and dancing, when Lady Adora spotted you yawning. You were guided to a room where you retreated for the night in a warm bed.Â
You woke in disbelief. You werenât dead in a collapsed elevator nor were you being feasted on by a group of rats. No, instead you were in the softest bed, feeling like you had just gotten the best sleep of your life. You sat up hearing a knock at the door, quickly straightening up and calling them in.Â
A small part of you was scared that they would figure out you werenât who they thought you were to be and they would kick you out or worse. Your memory was a bit foggy and everything seemed like a dream. It was hard to discern what was real and what might have been your imagination while you slept.
It hit you that this was all real, when they drew you a bath. They filled it with soft petals and took it upon themselves to help you wash once more - it almost seemed like overkill, you were scrubbed and polished just yesterday. Did you really need another thorough clean?
Dressed in the most delicate of dresses intricately tied around your waist and neck, you spun, watching the skirt flutter around you. You were giddy, wanting to sing and dance. It was such a drastic change. The community seemed so welcoming and gentle, they had no negative thoughts or intentions.Â
They guided you to the town square which had been decorated in flowers. The boys were walking around with baskets of flowers, some sitting making flower crowns intricately and you skipped after Jimin, who led you to a beautiful meadow by the river. The hem of your dress was bouncing slightly with every step. You crouched beside him, looking at the flower crown he began making.Â
âWow! Thatâs pretty. Can you make me one?â you grinned; Jimin spluttered and he looked at you in shock. Had you offended him? âIâm sorry.â
âNo, you did nothing wrong, itâs just flowers are a big part of courting in elf tradition, if you accept the flower crown, you accept the elf as a prospective partner. Or at least you like them enough to dance with them during the flower festival.â
You hummed in thought and grinned at him, âI like you enough to dance with you, unless you want to give it to someone. Then I wonât bother youâ
âNo one usually dances with me?â He laughed, more to himself, âLast year I danced with Hana. I think she did it out of pity and she didnât keep time, so she stepped on my toes.â
âOh no!â You frowned, âwait, I donât know the dance?âÂ
He stopped looking up at you, you were fretting, âplease teach me the dance!â You gripped his hands and he nodded, taking your hands. He led you away from the flowers in the small meadow and began explaining the dance and you nodded, paying attention.Â
He tried to teach you the dance, giving you directions and laughing when you felt hopeless. He took your hands and guided you through the steps, humming a foreign tune. You were reduced to giggling something about the spins, the hand holding and the steps felt so good; you were so happy and giddy.Â
You spun laughing and fell against his chest, he caught you, quickly placing you back to your feet and stepping back. âYou are actually a really good dancer.â
âMaybe itâs because you are my teacher?â You smiled.
âIf only you would look away from your feet,â he teased and you laughed.
âIt's been fun dancing with you, I have never learnt a proper dance before,â you blushed, tucking your hair behind your ear. âThank you Jimin.â
You kissed his cheek and ran off and spinning quickly to see his bright red cheeks. You joined the festivities, trying the food and even playing some of the games with the ribbons and hoops.Â
It was time for the evening dance and the young eligible elves stood with their hands out, flower crowns intricately designed resting atop their palms. Weaved flowers of different sizes and styles in colours of pinks, blues, reds and more, held by confident and bored looking elves. Behind them a nervous Jimin caught your attention.
You watched as he looked down, it was hard to see the crown from so far away but the colour scheme seemed to be yellow, the ribbon to which the flowers were weaved was a shiny gold. Yellow flowers usually represent friendship, like Jimin calling out for someone to just be his friend.Â
âHey, Hana, are you going to take Jiminâs flower crown this time?â One of the young female elves called in a hushed tone across the small group of eligible elvish maidens and yourself of course.Â
âNo, I did it last time because I felt bad for himâ she whined. You felt disgusted that they were avoiding him.
âWhatever, someone has to make the first move,â the girls looked at each other nervously and you gently brushed past them and headed straight out onto the dance floor.
It seemed everyone was waiting for you to choose, stepping up to the first elf. You looked at the pink flowered crown in his hands; it was a little over the top and not your style. You saw his smirk and proceeded to step on, making a few of the other young elves laugh, Seokjinâs pointed ears turning red.Â
âSeokjin, I thought you said no one could say no to you or your flower crownâ they snickered. You continued. The next crown was almost falling apart and the elf ducked his head, apologising.Â
âHey, a crown doesnât define you, people have different strengths. You are really smart from what I heard?â You smiled and moved through the lines, being polite and admiring their creatures, praising some and chatting with others. The purple crown was elaborate and beautiful, you smiled praising him. You would have taken it, had it not been for Jimin shuffling in the next row in your peripherals. You looked over and found him fiddling with his crown, pouting.
Thanking Jungkook, you stepped into the next row, not bothering to look at him any more and heading straight to Jimin. He was no longer watching you; he was staring at the floor, his hair covering his eyes.Â
âJimiiiin~â you smiled, spinning happily, âThis is really pretty, can I see it?âÂ
He puffed up from your praise, getting a little bashful and held the crown up for you to see, âOh this is lovely, Jimin, this is so pretty.â
âThank you,â He was becoming more and more bashful, wiggling his shoulders cutely, scuffing his shoes on the stone.
âCan I wear it?â You asked, cupping your hands under his and looking up hopeful. You didnât want to take away his choice on who he could give the crown to, but you also thought of him as your friend you were closer to than the others.
âAre you sure?â He asked and you nodded grinning.Â
âYes, but I donât know how to wear these.Do you know how to tie them?â He laughed like sweet bells tinkling in the wind and it left you a little dazed and embarrassed, âDonât laugh at me.â
âNo, no, I would never,â he smiled, gently lifting the delicate flower crown onto your head, and taking the two ribbons, he began tying it behind your head.Â
He was so close looking into your eyes as he tied it off and arranging the little flowers hanging strategically from the crown. Jiminâs crown was probably the sweetest looking, so delicate and intricate with soft petals or pale yellows and deep golds.Â
You smiled and took your spots on the dance floor and the others did the same, the line of female elves and yourself facing the line of male elves and the dance began. Slowly you recited Jimin's teachings.Â
Three steps forward, you offered your right hand and he bowed, accepting the offered hand with both of his. While his right hand held yours, squeezing reassuringly, his left softly glided up your arm as he stepped behind you.Â
His left hand slid from your left shoulder, down your back where he clutched your waist, trying not to giggle as he realised you were ticklish.. Your heart was hammering in your chest as you followed the routine, placing your left hand atop his.Â
You looked down and he whispered into your ear, âKeep your head up, donât look down, I will lead you perfectly trust me.â The feeling of his soft breath brushing the shell of your ear made you shiver.Â
You felt beautiful and loved all from just one dance, it was like being the main character in a movie getting to dance with a beautiful man. He spun you and you were now facing one another, hand in hand, swaying and spinning.
You were exhausted from the dancing, your throat a little dry. You were met by Seokjin who handed you a drink. âGood evening, my lady, I apologise for not introducing myself sooner, I am Kim Seokjin, from the main house of Kim.âÂ
âOh well, thank you for the introduction,â you smiled, taking a sip of the drink and Jimin looked awkward.Â
âYou have to choose an eligible bachelor and I thought it wouldnât be fair unless we each got to spend time and get to know each other - so with that in mind I thought I could show you some of the fun games?â
âUh sure, I guess you are right, itâs only fair I hang out with all of you equally.â He took your hand and looped it around yours, walking you away to the festival activities without giving you a chance to thank Jimin.Â
Seokjin was hilarious, he took you to a small stall where there was fish in a tank and if you caught the fish, you got to keep it. You tried your best, but you were too busy laughing at Seokjin to catch anything. He was terrible and it was so comical, watching him fail his expressions over the top.Â
You splashed water at him and he looked offended, he splashed back and you ran off before he could catch you. The two of you spoke, getting to know one another. Seokjin was really charming and handsome. He spoke to you about food and jokes and your cheeks ached from smiling, your sides stung from laughter. He stopped in front of a sweet scented stall, âyou should try these - they are sugared roses, they are delicious.â
They were indeed delicious and he smiled at you, âitâs happening!â Seokjin took your hand in his bigger warmer one and dragged you along excitedly.Â
âWhatâs happening?â You asked curious as to why he was running and he turned back grinning so childlike and pulled you along.Â
âItâs the fireflies, come look!â He pointed at the sky and you saw it begin: the fireflies started to dance beautifully. It was amazing in all different colours and shapes and sizes; they spun together in the air, twisting and turning like a small galaxy.Â
You felt someone standing behind you and smiled, Jimin was lost in the sight, âpretty.âÂ
âThey dance to find love, thatâs why every year in spring we dance as well,â Jimin said, âyou will find love eventually.â
He handed you a small bag with a fish inside. It was white with a tail like a fan, tipped with gold and very pretty. âItâs a thank you for dancing with me.â
âWait Jimin, I donât have anywhere to put the fish.â
âOhâ he frowned, âI do, it can stay in my pond at home.â
âWell, then I will have to visit and take care of the fish,â you grinned, bumping your shoulder with his. Jimin was so cute.Â
Once you woke and dressed your first destination was Jiminâs house to feed the fish. Jimin lived in a big house by himself and you were confused, âwhere are your parents and brothers and sisters?â
âThey died when I was born.â He let out a soft sigh, the two of you sprinkling the fish food into the big pond out the back. There were about a hundred fish in different shades. He smiled leaning over to sprinkle another pinch of fish food, his hair dangerously close to the water, and you hooked your fingers around the tressels and tucked it behind his ear.Â
He paused at the contact, shivering as he grabbed his ear, blushing. He let out a giggle, âCome on, letâs go see your new fish.â He brushed his hands on the lap of his midnight blue robes, standing and offering his hand to you. He pulled you up onto your feet and without letting your hand go he led you through the garden to another tiny pond where there were not as many fish occupying the small pool of water.Â
But swimming in the water was the beautiful fantail fish Jimin had gifted you the night before. It was such a beautiful fish with its long tail fluttering in the water as it moved. âYou are so pretty,â you grinned, gesturing to the fish food in the tiny heshen bag. âCan I?â
âOf course, she is very pretty. I couldnât give you anything but the best, you are an Almighty. I put her in the tank with my oldest fish. I raised him since he was a baby, he is very calm.â This fish was also a fantail, but black with silver spots. Jimin held out the bag and you sprinkled the food out and he smiled.
âHow old is he?â You smiled, watching the two swim around happily.Â
âHe turns thirty-five this year,â Jimin smiled, âFish of this kind will often live till they are forty.â
âWait, you canât be over thirty-five, you look like you're twenty,â You scoffed, looking him up and down. He was quick to throw his head back and let out an adorable laugh, falling against you for a moment before picking himself up from your shoulder.
âI like that, Twenty, hahaha!â Wiping his eyes, Jimin ran away giggling, âI am sixty-five!â
âNO WAY!â You gasped chasing after him.
After feeding the fishes that morning with Jimin, you were sitting by the small fountain in the town centre, the people were cleaning up from the flower festival and the dance that night. It was a great night, but it was nice to see how the elves lived day to day. The festivals and celebrations were fun, but draining. Now no one was trying to wait on your hand and foot.
The elvish girls were giggling and quick to approach you, âGood morning, my lady. A few of us are all going to the waterfall, if you want to join in the fun.â
âOh, that sounds really exciting,â you smiled, placing down the slices of melon Jimin had bought for you before he ran off to teach the young elfs. A disappointment filled you when you remembered you didnât have a swimsuit. âBut I have nothing to wear. What do you wear when you go swimming?âÂ
They giggled, grabbed you by the hands and pulled you towards the stalls in the market. It was an open lane that branched off from the town square. Stumbling into a marquee full of summer fabrics, they began offering you different options on what you could wear. You found something that resembled a bikini from the surface.
You smiled, showing the elvish ladies your selected swimwear. They went quiet and you wondered what they were thinking. But ultimately, this would be the most comfortable for you, it was what you were used to, so you were going to wear it no matter what.
Taking the fabric and following the group of elves, you trekked through the forest for a short while until you came across a small waterfall. The water was crystal clear and you could see the water running from a few pipes in the wall. There were a few tents where everyone got changed. You were helped by one of the ladies into the swim wear and she tied everything securely.Â
Stepping out, the girls chorused âoohâ, making you feel a little self conscious - maybe it was weird to show this much skin. But they quickly forgot about what you were wearing and raced into the water. It was refreshing to swim, and you had to admit, your serotonin levels soared when you were splashing and playing with the elves in the water.
Some of the male elves were climbing the waterfall and jumping off squealing excitedly and you followed them. âHey, you going to jump too?â The young male asked. His hair was braided entirely, so it was out of his face. âCome this way, it is easier to climb.â
He helped you up, guiding you the whole way, taking your hand to pull you onto tall rocks and placing your feet when you were determined to climb the smaller rocks. âYou are so tiny, are you sure you can climb this one?â
As if his words had jinxed it, you slipped falling into his arms, your back pressed to his chest, his strong arms wrapping around you. He turned you in his arms and looked at your hands feet and knees for any cuts, he saw the slight graze on your palm and looked guilty.âIâm okay,â
Taking your hand in his he kissed the abrasion and apologized. âI should have been more careful.â He wouldnât let you climb any of the rocks alone after that. You were thankful when you reached the top.
âHey Jungkook, what took you so long, you scared?â A deep voice called. When you stepped up onto the flat part of the waterfall, you noticed the elfâs eyes widen as he took your hand helping you across the rocks. âAre you going to jump?âÂ
The two were giving you tips and tricks on how to jump properly. It was a lot. âI will go first and you can see how it is done,â Jungkook grinned, âThen Taehyung can count you in.â
âOkay.â You nodded, feeling a little sick at the idea of dropping that far into the water. Jungkook jumped, whooping the whole way down and it made you giggle. Now it was your turn.
âI will count you in, okay? And then you jump,â Taehyung said and you stepped up to the edge and shuffled back.
âWow, that is high!â Your heart was beating in your ears like a drum and you felt like your legs give out.
âCome on, you can do it!â Jungkook shouted from underneath you. It seemed everyone was cheering you on from the bottom and you turned to Taehyung and stumbled over.
âI donât think I can do itâ You said, grabbing his arms, âIâm a big chicken, I will just walk back down and everything will be alright.âÂ
He rubbed your shoulders reassuringly, looking you in the eyes, âHey, listen to me, I know it is scary, but it is a lot of fun and safe and you will love it.â You looked at him, he had gotten rather close and his hand snaked around your waist. You couldnât even bring yourself to think about the jump as you were lost in his expression.Â
His grip around your waist tightened and he lifted you up, alarm bells ringing as he ran towards the cliff and you started screaming. The jump was scary, but the fall was amazing, for a second you felt like you were weightless in a void.Â
Splash! It was all over in a matter of seconds. When you resurfaced, you smacked Taehyung in the arms, calling him a traitor and then laughing when he tickled your waist. âYou are a butt.â
Jungkook and Taehyung were playful and the three of you were searching for shiny rocks in the bottom of the water. They even showed you a cool underwater cave where the three of you sat talking before you swam back out. You grew tired of swimming and went to sit in the shade, hoping you wouldnât get burnt. Even though there wasnât a real sun the UV lights still worked the same.
Laying out your towel beside one of the other noblemen that you had previously been introduced to, you sat down and smiled. âHey, I am Y/n.â You gave him a tired sigh, laying back on the towel, âYou arenât swimming?â
âNah, itâs too loud,â he laughed, not bothering to look at you. âHeard you jumped off the waterfall.âÂ
âOh, yeah,â you blushed, âwho told you that?â
âNo, I mean I heard you.â He smirked, turning to look at you and you blushed. He was quiet and the two of you soon dressed and bailed as the rambunctious group had gotten too loud for you both.Â
âHere, try this.â Yoongi handed you a few berries and smiled when you tasted them, âSo, with this choosing thing, what are you thinking?â
âI am not sure,â you sighed begrudgingly, you were supposed to choose and you couldnât leave them hanging forever.Â
âWell, if I can be honest to you lady Almighty,â he said softly, âMan up and choose Jimin, it is obvious how much you are in love with him.âÂ
You were stunned. He took a berry from your hand and smirked, walking away. âWait, come back here. What do you mean, I am in love with him?â
âEveryone can see your face light up when you see him and you flirt like all the time.â He shrugged, picking up a small string instrument and sitting on the porch of his home, strumming away.
âI do not flirt like all the time,â you mocked his tone, before trying to defend yourself by further saying, âI donât even flirt like any of the time, itâs called being friendly.â
âFriends donât get lost in each other's eyes. I saw you this morning on my walk, you were touching Jiminâs ear and thatâs beyond flirting, thatâs heavy petting,â he said and you blinked confused.
âI was tucking his hair out of the way so it didnât get wet, since when has that been heavy petting?â you asked with a laugh, reaching out to Yoongi, âSeriously, I could touch your ears and it would mean nothing.â
âHey, stop,â he commanded, cheeks bright red. You looked confused and he examined your confused face. âYou do understand that an elfâs ears are an erogenous zone, like it is intimate to touch another elfâs ears.â
Heat filled your cheeks. âOh no, I did that to Jimin, I must have weirded him out. I hope I havenât touched anyone elseâs ears-â
âYou would know if you did,â Yoongi said, patting your shoulder, âLook, Jimin likes you too, I think he understands you didnât mean it like that.â
You wanted nothing more than to apologize to Jimin, but instead, you kept your mouth shut in shame. He let you feed the fish and watched you curiously. âIs something wrong, you seem really quiet today?â
âItâs nothing, I just have just been thinking,â you smiled softly.
âHave I done something wrong?â
âNo, if anyone has done something wrong, it is me.â You let everything spill out, âI want to apologize for doing things that might seem really intimate, I didnât know that's what they meant, I was just trying to be friendly, cause you are my friend.â
âOh, yeah sure, no I understand, I guess I thought, but nevermind.â He gave you a strange smile, âWe are friends, of course. I have to go teach the kids dance this morning, I can see you later though.âÂ
You nodded, getting up quickly, âMaybe we can have lunch together?â
âUh, I might be a bit busy,â he said, walking you out the front door and racing off and you just stood there, feeling kind of confused. Was it weird that you had addressed it? You hoped not.
Thinking that maybe you should read up on elf traditions and mannerisms etiquette and more, you headed to the one place that would house all this information.
The Library.Â
What a library it was - there were floor to ceiling bookshelves and aisles and the books were all hand written and magnificent. âGood morning, My lady, can i help you find something today?â
âYes, I want to know more about elves, the traditions, the etiquette, everything?â You hummed, âI mean I just found out yesterday you canât touch an elfâs ears.âÂ
The man in front of you blushed and shuffled his feet, when you heard another voice, âYeah, thatâs something you should know.â The figure appeared from behind the bookshelves and smiled. âI mean between his book smarts and my street smarts well, we will have you thinking like an elf in no time.â
The two were indeed smart, Hoseok explained - his father was big on literature, but he often snuck off to Jiminâs dance lessons instead of studying. âThe life of a scholar never stops, or whatever my dad says.â
You had finally learnt different holidays and aspects of life as an elf, it was kind of fun and you enjoyed hanging out with the two young elves. They followed you through the town, explaining things and making you laugh.Â
âAnd that is the orphanage.â They gestured to Jiminâs home and you frowned, âIt used to be the last leader's home but when they died their son was left orphaned and the house has become known as the orphanage.â
It was like a knife in your chest. You wanted to console Jimin, hold him and tell him he was loved, that his parents would be proud of him. There was nothing left for you on the surface, no one who you cared about or cared about you, but underground you had this connection with everyone you met.
Jimin was definitely avoiding you and you were worried as to why. He left you notes saying the fish had been fed and he was already at dance practice and that he was practicing for the night of the children. Hoseok and Namjoon explained that the night of the children was a feast in honour of when the elvish children that the Almighty had taken were returned safely. It was the anniversary of the reuniting of families.Â
Each of the children who had been taken participated in the celebration and Namjoon was dreading it. You were dressed in a beautiful violet coloured robe and as you walked into the feast just like last time, you were sat at the head of the hall. At a big table, alone.Â
The dancers came out, some of the elves looking nervous. Seokjin was sweating, standing oddly with his arms in a twist, but once the music started and they all started dancing their moves telling the story.Â
The elves twisted and turned in fabrics of sweet colours, they were swept up by other dances in black and dragged off stage, Jimin among them. When the other elves returned they danced and scattered off the small stage and Jimin walked out, his cream robes slowly falling as he went, revealing a thinner inner robe of black and he danced a solo, expressing his loneliness and sorrow.
You were crying, wiping your eyes with Lady Adoraâs silk handkerchief, you watched as all the elves came back onto the stage and bowed. It hurt to see Jimin in pain, it was worse than losing your own family and perhaps Yoongi was right. When you love someone, they become your most important thing and right now, Jimin felt like the only thing you cared about. Without thinking, you spoke up. âI choose Jimin.â
They all seemed shocked, including Jimin who looked like he was about to pass out. You didnât know whether he was excited or scared. You hoped he wouldnât hate you for it, you really liked him and it was becoming clear how much he meant to you.Â
If he could love you as well, you would be happy. Of course, if he said he didnât want to be with you or seemed uneasy, then you wouldnât force him. They all froze and you blushed self consciously, it felt like you had just declared your love for Jimin.
âI mean if you want to, that is?â You flushed, and he bowed looking confused.
âI would be honoured.â His hands were shaking and his face was heating up and you requested that he sit next to you at dinner.
It was odd. Jimin was still distant and you were trying to see him Very early one morning, you got up early and knocked on his door. He answered, seeming tired and he looked at you. âI am here to see my fish.â He nodded, allowing you in and you walked through his house to the backyard where the fish ponds were, watching him race off down the hall. You knelt by the fish pond, feeding them tiny pinches of food. You spoke softly to the fishes, looking for any sort of sign. âHas he said anything to you guys?â
Jimin reemerged dressed and hair brushed, you smiled softly watching him contemplate something internally as he watered the flowers. Tugging lightly on his sleeve and stealing his attention once more. âWhat is it? You can tell me.â
âI um, wanted to know why you chose me?â He asked softly. You had noticed his habit of running his fingers through his hair a lot, and right now was no exception.
âI chose you because, as I said the other day, you are my friend, Jimin,â you answered honestly and his face fell, âI had taken my time to get to know the other elves, but since I met you we got along and since then have been running into each other often. You are kind and gentle. Out of all of the people in that room, you were the one I considered my dearest friend, and if there was anyone I would want to spend the rest of my life with, it would be you.â
âI thought you said that you didnât mean to be intimate, you were just being friendly.â He seemed a little bitter about those words. You hadnât realized thatâs how he would interpret them that afternoon.
âWait, you stopped hanging out with me because of that?â Your mouth fell open.
âYou were flirting with me, you kissed my cheek and practically declared your interest in me when you chose me at the flower festival dance and you even came to my house to feed the fish and you touched my ear, what was I supposed to think!â He rampaged. âYou then, after leading me to believe that you liked me a lot, told me that it was all a mistake and you wanted to just be friends.â
âNo, I meant that I didnât know the actions were seen as intimate and I didnât want you to feel uncomfortable, so I told you I was being friendly at the time,â you huffed, standing in front of him, looking up at him exasperated, ânot that I wasnât falling in love with you. Cause I was falling in love with you and I got scared that my stupid actions would weird you out and drive you away. But then you disappeared, ignoring me and I realized how much I missed you and wanted to be with you for eternity. I realized that your life means more to me than my own. Because I love you so much, it scares me.â
âYou love me?â He paused, eyes wide and you nodded, your throat dry, making it unable to speak. He suddenly came forward, cupped your face and kissed you desperately, like he had been waiting an eternity and you clutched his robes, not wanting him to let you go. He pulled back, pressing his forehead to yours, âI know I am not like the other guys, I have no fortune and I am not noble, but I will do everything to serve you and make you happy.â
âThe fact that you care so much for me already means I made a good decision.â You smiled. âAs long as you want to marry me as well, there is nothing in this world that can stop us.â
âYou are going to have to learn how to dance for our wedding.â He grinned cheekily.
âI made you a bouquet, it is tradition. I hope you like them, they remind me of you,â Jimin began, explaining all the flowers and the reasons behind why he chose them. It was so early in the morning, but he had to give you the flowers before you were all dressed up, so it would be a surprise when you walked down the aisle.
âThe little white ones mean innocence and purity.â He smiled pointing them out.
âThe babyâs breath,â you nodded, waiting for him to continue, eyes scanning the bouquet for any other flowers you recognized. However, when he failed to continue his explanation, you lifted your gaze, suppressing a giggle. âItâs just what we call it, because itâs small and soft like the breath of a baby.â
âOh, that does make sense,â he hummed and you pointed at the bright yellow Dahlias that highlighted the bouquet and he blushed. âThis one represents a commitment shared forever by two persons, like marriage.â
âI love them Jimin. Thank you.âÂ
Jimin blushed and scurried off with his ears red. You were feeling giddy with excitement. If someone had told you two months ago, while trying to find a place to live, you would get married to a beautiful young man with a heart of gold - well, you wouldâve outright laughed in their face.Â
The ladies were practically squealing at the encounter between Jimin and yourself, but quickly sent him away as they had to get you ready. After all that he left with the bouquet, but the ladies said they would retrieve it later, once you were completely ready. You were soaked in a warm bath filled with soft flower petals and they began scrubbing you down completely.
âMy lady Almighty, can I ask you a question?â You turned to the woman brushing through your hair, it seemed almost comical how many young elvish maidens were helping you get ready. They were all excited and trying to keep you calm, as today was the big day and she was smiling softly. Dressed in a soft sunset pink and each looking stunning. âWhy did you choose Jimin? Is it because he is a good dancer?â
âIf it were me I would have chosen Jungkook.â Another woman grinned.
âI think it was because he was nice and gentle. I saw him in the marketplace. He was kind and helped one of the other dancers who had fallen. It was very nice of him.â You smiled softly, âAnd then, he truly is an amazing dancer and he is really beautiful, he seems to be perfect inside and out.â
âWe have never really seen him in this light, we apologize,â the woman said, twisting your hair into a beautiful updo, âI guess we were more focused on status and money.â
They helped you into your shoes and led you to the mirror. You gasped and tried to hold back the tears. You were wearing a beautiful white midriff top that had no sleeves and the fabric in the middle had been twisted to give a sweetheart effect. It was lined with a gold lace trimming and matched with what could be likened to the cutest pair of panties which were also white and gold. Then you were wrapped in the white silk with gold trimmings, twisted and tied in a way you had no idea how to create or get out of it. It made you feel ethereal.
The ladies were talking excitedly about how you looked so beautiful and how they couldnât wait to see you get married. They were all giving you tips and revealing secrets about what elf men liked and disliked. You appreciated the help, never having the opportunity of dating an elf on the surface.
They were telling you about how an elfâs ears were sensitive and ways to use it to your advantage and you were a blushing mess remembering your encounters with Jimin and the almost encounter with Yoongi.Â
They started talking about the prospect of a child and how many you wanted to have, and when you honestly answered about always wanting a big family, maybe four or five at the minimum, they were shocked.Â
âSo many!â They squealed. âYou are a promiscuous little minx!â
You blushed, giggling with the girls. They told you all about traditions and customs and different aspects of their little world. They were happy about being enclosed underground and part of you could agree, they were safe and protected from the harsh world and all the cruel people who lived in it.Â
Like the drunk driver who killed your parents, leaving you orphaned and homeless overnight. Like the people who you thought were your friends, but eventually faded away making excuses to drive you away as it was embarrassing to hang out with someone who was homeless.
No, here everyone was part of a community. They worked together and you never wanted to leave. Not because they treated you so highly. No, it was much simpler than that, because they treated everyone with such kindness.
There was a knock at the door and the ladies all left quickly. You wondered who it was now, heart beating rapidly in your chest at the thought of the ceremony starting soon, taking deep breaths, trying not to think of the people that would watch you walk down the aisle or say your vows. Trying not to think about the possibility of Jimin saying no and you being forced to leave this beautiful paradise.
Shutting out all the thoughts you concentrated on Jiminâs declaration, âHe wanted to make you happy.â Someone called your name and turning, you were met by two men, human men dressed in black business suits. âCome with us.â They grabbed you by the upper arms and began escorting you from the room and outside towards the elevator.
You were being forced to leave. Jimin smiled bashfully, you were a vision of beauty and felt his breathing hitch, stolen from him by your very being. âI am sorry, I forgot to give you the flowersâŠâ It was then that he noticed you were being dragged away and he felt his heart break. Had he angered the Almighty, you were being taken from him. No, you couldnât leave, you were supposed to be here for the rest of your life, happily married, but here you were, being ripped from his life.Â
âWait for me,â you pleaded as the doors to the elevator closed. It was a long journey back to the surface and you tried to keep your cool. Hoping you could return, it wouldnât do to cry and ruin your makeup, it was your wedding day. Hopefully it could still be your wedding day. Crap. Now you really were crying.
No one seemed to understand that you didnât want to leave. They were all apologizing that you had to go down there and you were feeling more and more annoyed as time passed by. You shuffled your bare feet, they felt cold against the linoleum flooring. They offered to get you some slippers, but you refused.
âYou have to sign the non-disclosure agreement and then you are free to leave, but never speak of it to anyone,â the man said, gesturing to the paper. âLook, we will even give you all the money you want, buy you a small home and give you anything you wish for. Just sign the paper.â
âI donât want to leave, let me go back,â you pleaded. The man looked shocked, but that was it. You had thought they would finally let you leave, but it was after another thirty more minutes of questionnaire that they considered allowing you to go back down, and thirty more minutes for them to agree to it being permanently.Â
âAlright, you can go back down, but we will revisit this case with the higher ups and they will make the final decision.â They sighed.
You were free to return.Â
There was no escort, you headed back down alone. You looked at the mirror, everything was still as it was, not a hair out of place and you were glad the elves preferred soft and subtle makeup. That way, eyeliner and mascara werenât really included - otherwise your face would have been streaked and stained with dark streaks. Â
Once you reached the underground, you rushed out of the elevator; it was raining, a cold artificial rain, you running through the streets, still wearing your white dress as you called his name. Everyone poked their heads out to see what was going on.Â
You frantically searched for Jimin, looking for any sign of him. Ripping off your shoes in the process as they had gotten stuck in the mud. Hope was dwindling - where could he be? - as the last resort was the wedding venue, and you ran to the courtyard out the front of the palace.Â
There were empty seats with ribbons of white and gold, the aisle was long and you raced down, the petals sticking to the bottom of your bare feet. There he was. Waiting at the altar alone, a bouquet of white and gold, waiting patiently as you had asked of him.Â
You ran to him, grabbing him by the collar without a second to hesitate and pulling him into you for a searing kiss. Or two. Or three. Apologising between kisses for having to leave.
âI am here and I love you. Letâs get married.â You grinned as he smiled. Lady Adora ran out into the rain, soon followed by more elves, each getting soaked. The two of you exchanged rings and he took your hand into his, saying his vows and you said yours. Lady Adora announced you married and guided you both out of the rain into the palace where a feast had been prepared. You were bathed and redressed into another outfit as you had been all muddy.
This had given who? time to cook and decorate, and when you stepped out again, Jimin was immediately by your side. He didnât hesitate to pull you into his arms and led you in a sweet dance. It seemed for his own benefit that he kept you close like he was consoling himself from the idea of losing you.
After a feast and dancing, Jimin took your hand and escorted you from the palace ballroom and to a room. He explained that Lady Adora had prepared it for the two of you to share for as long as you wished. He unlocked the door and pushed it open to reveal a beautiful room, even more glamorous than the one you had previously stayed in. With soft white rugs and romantic flower petals strewn across the floor and fresh fruits and soft looking blankets. It all looked so warm and cozy.
But now you were hit with nerves, growing shy. You looked up at Jimin in all his beauty, âI um, donât know how to undo this dress, they tied the fabric and I-â Jimin slowly stepped forward, watching your reaction. It was like your heart was going to explode out of your chest with how heavy it was beating. Your breathing was so shallow that when his hand cupped your cheek you felt your head spin.Â
âYou look so beautiful.â His hand gently took the fabric and undid the ties. You caught the dress right as it was about to fall off and blushed. Your hands were shaking with a mix of anticipation and nerves.
âAre you going to undress as well?â Jimin blushed and started undoing his own attire. He walked you to the bed, all the while you clutched the fabric of your dress. He gently placed his hands on yours and let out a soft chuckle. He undressed you from the fabric and looked at the sweet undergarments you adorned.
Releasing a shaky breath, he smiled up at you. âYou are beautiful and I am nervous.â
âI am shaking, I am so scared.â You giggled âI am scared that you will realize that you donât want me and leave.â
âI could never leave you. I want you. Trust me.â He took your hand, placing it against his bare chest and you could feel his heart beating just as fast as yours. âI love you and this heart is now yours to keep.â
The first kiss was intense, full of passion and fire and you buried your hands in his hair playfully, brushing your thumbs across the tips of his ears.
If you thought taking off the dress was difficult, then putting it on in the morning was an even bigger struggle. You ended up having to ask for Jiminâs help. He blushed at your request, making you laugh. For he was now your husband and you had just woken up after your wedding night. But it was redressing that felt more intimate to you both.
You were embarrassed, the whole community was present in the palace hall for a celebratory breakfast. It seemed Lady Adora was ashamed that the plans for the wedding ceremony had fallen through. They showered you with gifts and the food was beautifully presented. Each family bowed and presented you with their offerings and well wishes.Â
You spent most of the morning proceedings, fiddling with the ring on your hand, it was so shiny and delicate. With two entwining silver bands that in the right light reflected a barely there iridescent green the bands were shaped to look like ivy wrapping around a beautiful round yellow tourmaline.
It looked like a beautiful flower atop vines, and you were in love, there hadnât really been time to admire the ring in the rain, but now you couldnât stop looking at it, getting lost in the colours. Jiminâs hand gently laid atop yours, bringing you back to the present. It seemed the people were waiting for you. Jimin repeated the question quietly to you under his breath. âThey are asking if you would like to stay in the palace or if you would like them to build you a more elaborate home.â Gently pressing his lips to your jawline, you nodded, pretending to be contemplating the question and not daydreaming.Â
Jimin let out a bit of a giggle when he heard you hum. âEverything has been wonderful, and I would rather live in the palace amongst everyone, it is a piece of history.â
Lady Adora seemed pleased by this response and announced they would clean and refurbish the best room for you. The day was filled with choosing different fabrics and furniture styles, Jimin liked the more natural and floral themed items, especially the golden dahlias. As the room came together, it became the flower of the palace, the garden beds in the town square all filled with golden dahlias.
Custom clothes had been made for Jimin and yourself, pale gold robes embroidered by the dahlia. You thought the elves would get sick of the novelty, but they loved it as much as you did, the flower held such a wonderful meaning to you.Â
The elves spent their days playing music, dancing and making sculptures or other art, they told stories and practiced using their special energies. You enjoyed watching Jimin practice healing, seldom bored as he practiced shirtless. He caught you staring most of the time and puffed out his chest proudly and you thought heâd started to do it purposefully.Â
Jimin taught you how to meditate - it felt kind of silly at first but soon you grew to like it, just sitting in the room alone with your thoughts. It gave you time to process all your uncertainties and even encouraged you to talk about them to Jimin.Â
You told him how youâd lost your parents, opening up about your life and he smiled, kissing your temple, telling you everything happens for a reason, that you were brought to him for a reason. He told you that he, too, had lost his parents and that fate must have chosen you both considering your past, so you could heal together. It was a lovely sentiment and you started to believe it. There were so many aspects of your situation that were crazy and unbelievable, from an underground city to elves, magic and marriage. If ever there was a time to think about fate it was now.
It had been the best few months of your life and if you could go back and do it all again you wouldnât change a thing. Jimin woke you with kisses pressed to your shoulder blade, making you giggle.Â
âMorning.â He smiled, you turned to him, admiring his beautiful features in the glow of the fake sun.
âWhat are your plans for today, my love?â You brushed some of the tendrils of hair from his face; he braided his hair for sleeping, but every morning there were always some pieces that fell out.
âWell, I thought we could go for a walk, perhaps have a picnic and if itâs not too late, we can swim at the waterfall,â he grinned before sitting up and wrapping himself in his robes, âIf itâs too late, well, then we will have to swim at the waterfall now, wonât we?â
âSo either way we are swimming at the waterfall?â you scoffed, standing up and dressing for the day, and he helped you tie the robe as he smiled cheekily.
âNo, if itâs too late, we canât swim at the waterfall. We will have to swim at the waterfall.â He stressed the words differently the second time and you raised an eyebrow, curious as to what he is implying.
âEnlighten me on the difference?â You watched his grin stretch wider, clearly you had played into his hand.
âWell the difference my dear, would be the dress code.â He slinked off elegantly across the room, gathering the hair brush, ready to style his hair for the day. You looked after him, mouth hanging open, about to call him out on his daring nature when the door burst open, revealing Taehyung looking nervous.
âThe Almighty, they are here and they are asking for Y/n.â You felt sick. Why were they here and asking for you? Why were they ruining this?
âWhat do they want?â Jimin urged Taehyung, sounding a little hostile. You took Jimin's arm, gently squeezing his bicep, trying to calm and reassure him.
âEverything is fine, let me talk to them,â you said as you smiled, kissing his cheek and heading out of the palace out of the courtyard. You were escorted out of the town by Taehyung and up the small hill towards the elevator. They were waiting for you, you growing nervous as you turned to Taehyung. âI want to speak with them alone, if something goes wrong I wonât let you get hurt. Tell Jimin, if I donât return, to go to the waterfall.â
âY/n?â Taehyung spoke worriedly and you smiled, waving him off. He reluctantly left you to speak with the men in suits.
âHello Gentleman, what can I do for you?â You smiled.
âWe spoke with the higher ups, they donât want humans down here.â The man said. âI am sorry, I am going to have to take you back up, you canât stay down here.â
You nodded. âOkay,â you gestured to the elevator and when they turned to it, you ran into the forest, hoping for shelter in the dense trees. However, from the loud gunshots and the stabbing heat in your side, you werenât quick enough. You tried to keep running, you just had to make it to the waterfall. Jumping off the cliff and landing in the water, you felt the pain radiate through you at the impact, and you took a deep breath and swam under the water into the tunnel to the cave.
Once inside, you dragged your form out of the water and laid on the smooth rock, waiting for help. You grew cold as the night fell and you were losing hope. You held on as long as you could, but eventually, you fell unconscious.
The cold was replaced with warmth, a pleasant heat that took away the pain. You felt it fill you until you felt like you were in a little incubator. You felt tingling sensations in your chest, stomach, head, eyes, ears, everything felt like you were floating.
When you woke, you were still in the cave and Jimin was sitting there, his hands outstretched and glowing over your stomach. His chest was shaking and even though his eyes were closed you saw the tears dripping, and heard his sniffles. You reached out, surprised that you didnât feel pain, and sitting up, you saw your wound had healed.
âJimin,â you called, and he blinked, looking at you relieved, lunging for you to give you kisses, his hands buried in your hair. His thumb brushed affectionately by your ear and you pulled back surprised. There was this feeling in your chest and stomach, a fluttering sensation just from him brushing your ear. âWhat is it?â
âWell, I um, I havenât ever healed a human before, my power heals injured elves to the optimum elvish form. And well, it healed your body to the ultimate elvish form,â he said slowly and you shivered, the feeling still tingling from touching your ear. âI am sorry.â
âWait, so I am an elf?â you asked, examining his expression for any form of jest or lie, but there was none; he was serious. You tried to process it further: what did this mean, being an elf? âSo I am an elf?â
He nodded, you were so shocked you couldnât formulate your thoughts and feelings into any further actual questions. âYour body is now elf.â
âSo I have pointed ears,â you tried to address the obvious and then you asked the question you were most scared about, âwill I age differently?â
âYou will live the life span of an elf, so several thousands of years, your body will act like an elf, grow habits like an elf,â he bowed his head lower, âI am so sorry, you are no longer an Almighty.â
âDonât be sorry, this way we can live out our lives together at the same pace.â You kissed him, rubbing your nose to his affectionately, âI am sure I can learn everything as we go. The most important question is; do you still love me even though I am not special?â
âNot special? You will always be special to me, and honestly your features have been enhanced by the transformation, but not altered. You are still an exotic beauty,â he smiled cheekily. âYou could look like a troll and I would still love you.â
âThank you,â you smiled and the two of you swam from the cave and emerged from the water. It was night time. You took Jimin's hand in yours as you headed for the town. The men were waiting and they raised their guns at you.Â
âYou cannot stay here, it is time to leave,â the man commanded.
âI canât leave, I am an elf now,â you raised an eyebrow, âthey will notice my differences in aging.â
âWe have orders, and if you do not come willingly, we will shoot you.â You didnât and you froze in pain; amongst the pain, you felt your skin crawl oddly and the muscles contract until you felt something pushing out of your skin.Â
It was a painful process, but you were healing yourself and you looked at Jimin who looked worried.Â
âIâm not leaving, so you can pack up and get out of here.â You grinned and they nodded, leaving with a warning.Â
It was an empty threat as you were never bothered again. With Jimin eternity seemed easy, and you couldnât wait for the years awaiting you. Falling in love was a fairtrade to never seeing the daylight again.

Untitled Goose FicÂ
x find on AO3 x
That wandering pillow stuffing on two flappy feet keeps stealing Tony's tools. Too bad the little shit is hiding them in Steve Rogers' garden because Steve definitely hates Tony.
He does, right?
------------------------------------------------
âNo! I will roast you for Thanksgiving! Hell, I will roast you for a completely insignificant mid-week lunch you-â Tony stands back up as the surprisingly agile goose makes it off with his screwdriver, ducking under the table as it runs away. For the third time that day.
âGeese donât use screwdrivers!â Tony shouts after it, halfheartedly, âYou donât even have opposable thumbs!â
The goose doesnât turn around. Naturally, since geese would never admit to understanding something as pathetic as spoken language.
He looks after the waddling white bum, slowly disappearing in the distance. Oh well, he has other screwdrivers.
It isnât until Tony catches the fat feathery fury of hell making off with an entire bundle of fiber optic cable that he fully recognizes the extent of the crimes committed by this goose.
âNo! No!! You rotund little shit! Come back- Ow!â
Unfortunately not only he is too late to realize the culprit, but he is also under a car. And so, before Tony can recover from bumping his head and free himself from under the chassis, the goose is gone. So is his brand new cable.
âFuck you,â mutters Tony, looking after him once again. He rubs his forehead.
He lost about a hundred dollars worth of cable and gained one lump on his head. Now exactly a fair trade, if you ask him. ---
Heâs had it. A goose is a glorified duck. Tony will not hear anything else on this matter. Also a goose definitely does not need one flat head and three Phillips head screwdrivers; two pliers, one needle nose and one grooved; a roll of blue painterâs tape, in mint condition; wire cutters; one putty knife; one medium sized hammer and two bananas.
All right, maybe he could let go of the bananas. The little dude, or dudette, has probably already demolished what was supposed to be Tonyâs attempt at starting healthy eating habits three weeks ago.
But the other stuff? No way.
So, here is the plan.
The goose must be taking this stuff somewhere. This is almost a one-man organized crime at this point. The bird must have a stash and that stash must be somewhere in this little town.
Maybe Tonyâs attempts at goose-proofing the garage havenât been too successful; considering, as a mechanic, he has to wheel in and out cars, sometimes tractors and hefty motor blocks of farming equipment. Some part of the garage has to open up and that opening has to be big. But, there is nothing holding him from following the goose and finding the little offenderâs stash of stolen goods.
He is surprised, really, that he hasnât thought of this before. Heâs a genius. Supposedly. Self-proclaimed but still... Itâs just that, the monotone but deafeningly loud and repetitive honks of the creature are so damn disheartening that he just⊠Gave up. Before even trying.
Yeah, that really doesnât sound like Tony Stark.
So, he will wait and he will follow. Because if there is one thing he knows, itâs that that goose cannot resist the sweet, sweet call of free knick-knacks that are absolutely of no use to it. ---
And Tony is right. The waddling bundle of doom approaches, honking and being a general nuisance. It doesnât even try for stealth as it grabs a long strip of discarded chain and totters away.
Tony gets up, downs his coffee and follows.
He has made the calculations. Ran the numbers. The goose cannot be hiding its stolen goodies anywhere too far. First of all, itâs a goose. With short legs. And it has been seen stealing stuff that was too heavy for it to fly with. Second of all, itâs always around. So considering the time it would need to steal, leave, stash and come back; itâs probably hiding its stuff in some unseen but not unreachable and definitely not far away place.
Under a hedge, possibly. Or in a ditch.
Most likely itâs someoneâs garden or barn.
And wouldnât that be the best. He might not be exactly friendly with a lot of people but it is a small town and he is the only mechanic. So if the goose is hiding his stuff in someoneâs garden, heâll just knock on their door and retrieve his stuff. Done.
He strolls down the little path after the toddling white bum, listening to the sound of the chain rolling on the ground without paying much attention to where heâs actually going.
That is, until the jangling of the chain is dulled by grass and the white feathery bum disappears between someoneâs broken garden fence. But not just anyoneâs garden fence. Oh no. Because Tony Starkâs life cannot be without drama and complications once, even in a remote little town like this.
That little expressionless harbinger of doom, that pint sized behemoth, Tonyâs peanut-brained personal devil choose Steve Rogersâ garden to stove away his embezzled tools.
Well, Tony is not going to be knocking on that door anytime soon. He knows for a fact that the guy hates his guts. Since day one. Not that there had been any other day apart from day one but⊠Well. Oh well.
He could⊠Sneak in?
Yeah, and just further establish the idea that he is a fucking creep in the manâs eyes.
He stands there for a couple minutes under fading daylight, with a defeated expression on his face before turning around and leaving for his garage. Maybe he should go back to his ideas for cutting-edge anti-goose technology. ---
Steve knows exactly how the high-end, diamond tipped cutter came into his house and from where. And the screwdrivers. And the pliers. And the tape.
The entire roll of unused cable that he has no idea how that goose ever dragged through his fence.
The problem is that heâs pretty sure he made the mechanic hate his guts the first time they met.
He got defensive and well⊠Some needlessly rude things had been said and assumptions had been made. By Steve. Because Steve is great at acting without thinking apparently.
Well. What happened had happened and Steve should have apologized when he had the chance. But now, after so much time, it would be weird to go to the guyâs house and apologize.
And it would also be weird to act like nothing happened. Which, at this moment, really doesnât solve his problem of hoarding the manâs equipment in his own house.
He probably doesnât even remember you, says a little voice in his head, he probably hasnât even lingered on it like you do, forgot about it the moment you had left.
Itâs just that, sometimes itâs still hard for Steve to remember he has grown, both literally and figuratively, and possibly more than doubled in weight. Heâs⊠Well, decent looking now. Not a scrawny little kid. On the outside, at least. Inside is a whole another matter.
So in the end, it had taken his tired-to-the-bone-from-moving brain about three days to realize the mechanic hadnât been making fun of him when they had been introduced but instead, had been kind of hitting on him. Possibly. Or he is just friendly like that. But Steve is ready to bet the guy had been flirting. With him. Maybe.
And now itâs too late to do anything about it, Steve thinks to himself ruefully. At least he doesnât own anything that requires a mechanic, really. That, he thinks, had to have been enough to escape from the possible mortification of facing the guy again.
And frankly, when Steve had kind of adopted the town criminal, the goose, how could he have known that the animal would have⊠Done this! Out of all things a goose could ever do! This!!
âHonk! Hooonk!!â
âI heard you buddy, Iâm on it,â Steve slowly rises from his chair and leaves his brooding aside to open his door.
There, stands the goose, with a chain hanging from its beak. It happily waddles inside once Steve steps aside and drops the chain onto its pile.
âHonk!â
âStealing is bad, you know?â Steve looks at it accusingly.
Goose just honks again.
Steves checks out the frankly impressive pile of tools and knick-knacks the big bird carried into his house over the course of weeks. He sighs, he needs to do something about this. He needs to be brave. He can take his stuff to the guy. He can-
Or, maybe he can just mail it!
He slumps. The guy lives fifteen minutes away. He really couldnât have come up with a more offensive way of returning the stuff and making the situation even more uncomfortable. He could even add a note. Hey remember how rudely I turned you down the first time we met? Well I still donât want to see your face, just so you know.
Steve sighs and goes to set out some vegetable scraps for the little rascal. He looks at the goose as it gobbles down the carrot peels, âYou started this mess and you fix it!â
And then he thinks, maybe, maybe it really could. Yup, this is definitely going to be the best way of testing the waters. Steve is a genius. ---
Tony is pacing his garage. He needs his 3mm plier that is somewhere in Steve Rogersâ garden. He cannot go there. He has ordered a new one but the two day shipping is⊠Well, two days away. And he just has nothing else to do but pace and think.
Heâs about to go crazy. Just a little more pacing and thinking and he will be intellectually stunted forever, only being able to think about Steve Rogers.
Steve Rogers the artist. The polite, kind, attractive, whose angelic aura enticed even that little white beast of hell and heâs just so-
Okay, no going down that road. He did it once already. And heâs still pacing. Tonyâs feelings and opinions about Steve Rogers are not the answer to this dilemma.
He needs the opposite. Needs to think about what Rogers thinks of him. Which, from his reaction was when they met, isnât really anything pleasant.
Itâs just that Tony, being Tony, hadn't been able to say no to flirting with the handsome stranger. Itâs not like they get new blood in this town that often. And definitely not of that caliber. Rogers had looked good, coming out of the little store with groceries, biceps swelling with the weight of the bags. Face open and hopeful. Tired, but hopeful.
And Tony is only human. And gay. So sue him.
Rogers hadnât looked like a bigot then, and with all that he has heard about him, Tony doesnât think heâs one either. Maybe heâs straight. A huge possibility. But that alone still doesnât explain his hostility.
Tony wants to say maybe Rogers saw into him that day, somehow knew Tonyâs track record. The short and failed relationships. The bad decisions and the mistakes. Just how Tony failed to make any partner happy, failed to be enough so that they would stay...
But thatâs ridiculous. Right?
Right. So he paces, and thinks maybe he could ask his regulars to ask around and one of them is bound to know Rogers and they can be a middleman to-
âHONK!â
Tony jumps.,
âHOOONK!!â
âWhat now, you little- Oh!â
The goose is waddling around in the open areas of his garage, its little orange feet making cute flapping sounds on concrete. But weirdly enough, it doesnât seem to be stealing anything. On the contrary, itâs just⊠Waddling. Around. Hmm...
Getting closer to the goose, Tony realizes there is a red ribbon tied in a neat bow around his neck. From this ribbon dangles a piece of paper.
To Tony Stark.
Tony looks to the left. Then to the right. Then for good measure, he pokes his head out of the garage and looks around. There is nobody.
He looks back at the goose. Well, somebody was able to tie that around its neck, so it must be safe to take it off, right?
âIf you bite me, and I mean it, even if you just, peck me a little, Iâm taking you right to the butcherâs shop.â ---
Steve comes back to his house and his incriminating balled up papers, hiding and evading the town people throughout the whole way. And heâs already having a freak-out about just how much he has overshared in what was supposed to be a tiny note saying âHey, I have your things I think, would you like to pick them up or would you like me to bring them over.â
But no Steve had to go and be all hopelessly romantic and embarrassing and overshare. At least he didnât outright say stuff like your eyes are beautiful or youâre really confident and I donât know how to talk to you or⊠Yeah.
And obviously he wouldnât be able to trust the dumb (however cute and waddly) bird to find its way directly to the mechanicâs garage so he had all but grabbed the goose and went over to the place himself. Had set the goose back on its feet from the side of the garage door and ran away like a kid. Well, there had been some peeking, but he couldnât risk being caught.
All in all, heâd give himself 10/10 for planning, 10/10 for execution and like⊠3/10 for the contents note itself. So it all averaged to something passable. Hopefully.
The worst thing is that Tony Stark was as intimidatingly and effortlessly handsome as he remembered. Steve hadnât been able to stop peeking at him as he gingerly taking off the ribbon around the gooseâs neck. He had been in a black tank top; his slightly tanned and toned arms flexing as he fiddled with the bow. He had wiped his hands on an already grease stained fabric before opening the note.
And then Steve had ran away.
Now, back in his house, Steve sits down and puts his face in his hands. He can literally feel just how blushed his cheeks are from the warmth. But, whatâs done is done. He cannot really take it back now. The mechanicâs tools are in a paper bag by the door, in case he just, you know, wants to take them and leave. Steve wouldnât want to make him wait.
And Steve hates to wait himself, but there is really nothing else left to do. ---
Tony wears a shirt and then realizes what heâs doing and takes it off. Heâs not wearing a button up shirt to walk fifteen minutes, get his tools and come back. Thatâs a little too much. A little.
He does trim his beard though. Looking put together never hurt anybody. Definitely a plus, if youâre going to see the guy youâve had a crush on for over a month. For the second time. After a total fucking disaster.
Itâs been really hard. Moving. Leaving a big city like New York and coming to a small town. Wondering if it will work out, if youâll be able to make it. Get used to it. But staying in Brooklyn had became harder and harder after I had lost my mother. But also I had never lived anywhere else before. All my life; the same neighbourhood, same faces, same places...
I had been tired and irritable, Steve had written. I owe you a very late apology, he had said. I have, what I assume is, all of your lost tools and I would like to return them if youâre not against seeing me again.
Tony is clearly very against the idea, seeing that heâs changing his t-shirt for the fourth time instead of just leaving his house like a normal person.
Also, Steve had called the goose, the town criminal, without specifying that he was talking about the bird, which will always be written as about 10 points in his corner. Even if this thing doesnât work out. It
Heâs stalling. Heâs stalling so much.
He checks himself out in the mirror one last time. Fixes his hair and washes his hands once again. The grease under his nails will never be fully gone probably but he can try. Make an effort. Yeah.
When he makes it to the edge of Steveâs picket fence, the goose is already inside. Right at the door, sitting on the doormat with its face tucked under its wing, seemingly dead to the world. Once Tony opens the garden gate however, it starts screaming its little head off. And the door opens before Tony has any time to psych himself up.
Steve Rogers comes out shining golden under the late afternoon sun and complaining, âI just fed you!â
âYeah, a microphone it seems like,â Tony cringes as soon as the words leave his mouth. Yes Tony, amazing, insert your foot a little bit deeper into your mouth.
Steve startles and looks at him, clearly not expecting to see him, but then he laughs and itâs all Tony can do at that moment is not to slump in relief.
Steve clears his throat, âI will go get your, uh- Tools? Yes. Just a sec-â He disappears behind the door as the goose squeezes inside beside his leg.
Tony is left all by himself in front of the door, suddenly feeling disappointed. Well, what did he expect? ---
Once inside, Steve slumps against the door frame for two seconds, needing to regroup. This is harder than he thought it would be and Tony looks better than he has any right to with his perfect curl falling on his forehead and his perfect facial hair and- Well, at least he didnât bring up the note, or the delivery method, Steve thinks, not that he gave him any time to speak.
Steve takes the hefty bag of tools into his hands. Takes a deep breath. Now or never, now or never, he repeats from inside, be brave for yourself for one second.
He opens the door again and Tony is there, standing a polite distance away from the steps. Steve extends the bag, âHere you go. This is all that I could find, though, if you have anything else missing-â
âThank you, thank you. Well, yeah, I think Iâll be fine,â Tony looks at him with a clipped smile.
Now or never, now or never.
âHey, you know, if you ever lose anything you can,â Steve can feel his blush rising, âwell, call?â ---
âI donât have a phone.â What? What?! If there was ever a good time for a meteor to fall onto me and just onto me, now is it, Tony thinks.
âOh,â Steve deflates.
âNo!â Tony shouts, making both of them flinch. Then schools his voice into something more appropriate, âI mean I didnât,â he flails, pointing up the hill he came from, âmy house is just over there so, I donât know, I didnât think Iâd need it honestly. So I canât really- I mean, your number- I can give you mine?â
âOh, yeah, sure. Just let me-â Steve disappears back into the house and comes back with his phone, gives a little nod, âMhm?â
So Tony gives Steve his number. Steve sends him a text. After a polite goodbye he leaves, clutching his tools to his chest and all but runs back to his house. He throws the bag onto his work table on his way up and immediately goes searching for his phone.
He giggles as he reads the message, âHi! This is Steve the goose-sitter.â ---
A Couple Of Months Later
âSteve!! If you donât come pick up your live pillow stuffing, youâre going to see it under the cloche for tonightâs dinner.â
Steve laughs, honest to God laughs at him and his misery on the phone, âLike you know how to cook.â
Tony sputters, phone in hand and eyes locked onto the little criminal currently pat-pat-ing greasy footprints all over his beautiful and once clean car. With a harmonica in its beak.
Aimless chaos, thatâs what it is.
He sighs, âThat was cruel and you know it but Iâll let it go if you come here and give me a kiss.â
âTony, I have one more lesson, just one more and then Iâm home, okay babe?â
Tony grinns giddily. Okay, maybe heâs a little head over heels here but at least he knows heâs not the only one.
As Steve had predicted, the goose kept stealing his tools. And kept stashing them in Steveâs house. And Tony just kept⊠Going back to retrieve them. In time it became Steve coming over to drop off some things Tony had not yet realized gone missing and staying to chat for a bit. Or Tony realizing things were missing and going to Steveâs house for a coffee, waiting for the goose to come from parading his stolen goods around.
They talked about Steveâs moving adventures first. Then his reasons; his Maâs illness, losing her at the hospital and his best friend overseas and looking around Brooklyn to see pain everywhere. And in turn Tony told his own story, about leaving a busy life with three cities in one day, shareholderâs meetings, inventing with strict deadlines on endless budget that got quite unfulfilling really quickly.
And then they talked about more personal details. Steveâs insecurities from when he was dealing with asthma and was as thin as a stick that never quite left. Tonyâs inability to pay attention to anybody or anything but his craft for more than two seconds that drove all his ex-es away.
Steve had smiled at his berating, âYouâve been here for three hours now.â
âAnd? Should I- Oh.â Tony had blushed, âWell, yeah.â
Somewhere along the way, it had become this.
Tony knows Steve will come over after heâs done teaching kids how to draw and will give him as many kisses as he wants and then a little bit more. He will cook because Tony really cannot but helps by providing any ingredient Steve needs for his recipes, no matter how obscure. They will sit in Tonyâs little kitchen and chat and eat and kiss a little bit more. And when Steve gets up to go home, his overgrown duck with itsy-bitsy razor teeth will follow him back home loyally.
But there is still an hour and then some until that can happen.
âI am not cleaning your weird misshapen dog though,â he sulks into his phone.
Steve chuckles, âThatâs alright Tony, I have to go now, Iâll see you soon, alright?â
âYeah, okay, love you.â
âLove you too.â

The edge of Chinatown was distinct. The lights on the archway radiated red, white and gold before your eyes took in the sight of the cluster of signs in the narrow streets. The street always seemed to be bustling, like most of New York, even after dark. This city is packed tightly together, but in this burrough it is more apparent. Each building felt connected to the next, the cross streets almost disappear and the gaps seem as small as alleyways. Traveling through this part of the city was easy.   Ignoring the fact that it was close to home, this was a burrough they grew up in, trained in, but over the years they frequented Chinatown less and less. He may not have come through this way at all if his brothers didn't start reminiscing about it with father. Chinatown was not out of his way from the junk yard, but he often kept to the sewers. Particularly in the day. Best not to get caught by people, especially on camera. At this time of night Chinatown was still as active with tourists and natives as the daytime.   Kitchen vents delivered new scents at every rooftop. Fried noodles from a restaurant. A street cart with fried dumplings. The next roof he could smell a whole assortment of fried meats from another of the array of restaurants. Great. Stopping for this detour delayed dinner already and the aromas were conspiring to make him hungrier. Sentimentality clearly came with a price. What was wrong with him, making this detour anyways? By the time he got back all of dinner would be eaten. Mikey and his bottomless stomach would see to that. The others would just laugh and he would be scrounging for food. Wait. Did he need to get groceries again? Probably. Another item to add to the list.   He continued to jump from rooftop to rooftop until a large gap at the far southern edge of Chinatown appeared. He wasn't sure the building was still there until he saw it. Every building in the area was at least three stories, usually more. An old, single story home sat at the edge of the district. When they were kids it was abandoned. From what he had gathered the it was a home and had been converted to a shrine. It was hard to say if it was supposed to be a Japanese shinto shrine, a Buddhist temple, or a shrine to a man from Chinatown. Not that it mattered now. Someone still owned the building but no one used it for anything anymore. From his perch on the rooftop, even in the dark of night, the building should be condemned. Holes littered the roof. A strange building to say the least. It was circular and he only remembered there being a few rooms inside when he was a child. The unique reason they stopped here at all was the garden. The building encompassed a small grassy garden with a single sakura tree. Sensei brought them there to see the sakura tree bloom in spring time for a couple years. Too early in spring for blossoms yet.   He jumped down the outer edge of nearby fire escapes until he could reach the closest section of roof. He judged where the best location to jump would be. Shingles were loose everywhere and he doubted the integrity of the wood supports.   All the windows were dark in the building. Didn't seem like anyone was around. He dared to leap onto the peak of the roof and vault immediately into the thin grass. The cherry tree seemed both bigger and smaller than he remembered. He could easily reach up and touch the lowest branches. Buds were starting to appear, it might blossom in the next couple weeks. He would have to remember to come back. Maybe he would bring father. Father rarely came to the surface but this shrine was generally a safer place to visit.   Something scraped the wood inside the shrine. Could have been anything, but he knew he shouldn't risk getting caught if some person was holed up in the abandoned building. At least the sewer entrance was still in the far edge of the grass, near the back gate to the alley. Swiftly, he ran to the cover, lifted it, jumped in and covered the entrance again. Next time he would do more recon. Or, if he was more intelligent and did not listen to Michelangelo and his stories, not bother being sentimental and just run his errands and get home.
--
âDid you see someone in the garden?â a girl turned to a boy at the door of the former temple. Tools, new wood, a few pieces of furniture littered the room. The electricity was on, and being paid for for that matter, but not really working in this room yet. Extension cords ran all around the room, mostly connected to work lights. A girl, average height, small build, had tripped over the hammer while trying to avoid a ladder.   At the front door, the boy she was talking to, clicked another work light on from the floor, âNope.â   âI'm serious.â   âYou must be seeing things again. Think this place is haunted?â   âYou're an idiot.â
--
Donatello threw his messenger bag on his bed. The lair was dark and still save for the graphics on the video game consoles dancing around. His brothers had retired early after their hard day training. And as he predicted, no one left any dinner for him. Michelangelo ate every last piece of pizza and finished off the cereal, which meant little for breakfast in the morning. He would definitely need to ask April or Casey to get some more groceries for them in the morning. Donatello switched on his work light in his computer lab before he booted up his work PC. Another late shift working as a IT phone technician. Waiting for the PC to boot he rummaged in the cabinets, not surprised to find them mostly bare. He felt fortunate to find a box of ramen hidden in a cabinet and enough oatmeal to lead to a loud, complaint filled morning. Waiting for water to boil he checked the security system cameras, ran back to the kitchen for his ramen and a soda, grabbed his headset from his bed and sat heavily in his computer chair. Before he logged in to the VOIP account for work, he thought about his detour. He really shouldn't have stopped. He kept kicking himself that Mikey got in his head. Now that Leo was back, their family whole again, Mikey was becoming rather reminiscent about childhood. Every time April or Casey came over Mikey would convince Master Splinter to tell different stories about their childhoods. The most recent being some of their rare outings to the surface. âEver since the day we were mutated we have had few safe havens above ground. Day or night.â Splinter curled his tail around his feet on the couch, settling in next to April. âWhen they were small children I kept them bundled on me with a blanket, but as they grew they would not heed me, or be still. It was impossible to keep them safe above ground.  It was my duty to keep them safe, even if Michelangelo insisted on climbing the pipes all the way to the ceiling.â When the giggles died out, April asked, âWhere could you take them that was safe.â âOf all places,â Leo needed to stifle another round of rare laughter, âthe junk yard.â Appearing to meditate on the story, Splinter continued, âIt was the only place with a fence Michelangelo would not climb over. I also was able to run them around finding what we needed for our home. To an extent.â âLet me guess, Don would try to bring everything he could home.â Casey tipped back his beer, eager to get a shot in.  His brotherâs enjoyed that barb too, âYes, laugh. I built that warming lamp we still use in the winter.â Claiming the room again, Splinter continued, âWhen they were older, and I could venture out further and leave them in the lair, I started to explore different neighborhoods. I enjoyed the atmosphere of my old home in Chinatown, and knew the streets well enough and that I may go unnoticed. The boys were young, five, perhaps six years old when I stumbled on a community garden on a roof near the edge of Chinatown. Fresh vegetables were the hardest foods to come by. We only took sparingly and I taught them to help care for the garden as our way of repayment for the food.â Pausing, Splinter sipped at his tea. âOne evening as I searched for food behind the restaurants I was almost found by some cooks coming out on a break. I dove behind the dumpster, cornered.â âLike a rat?â Mikey yelped as Splinterâs tail whipped the side of his head. âPolice were investigating a murder at a small house on the edge of the district. I had seen this place. It did not look like a house, many people visited, like a shrine. It was a peculiar building. Short and round. From the rooftops I could see a small garden. Weeks passed and I studied the building. It was most certainly abandoned and no police visited any longer. During the depths of the night, I woke my sons early and took them to this small house.â âWait wait waitâŠwhy would you wake them to take them there? I meanâŠâ âGrass.â They intoned quietly. âGrass?â âHey, itâs not like we can just waltz around Central Park!â Raphaelâs face fell but lifted again seconds later, âAnd that tree.â âWhat tree?â âIn the middle of the garden, a sakura tree.â Their father stretched out his hand, heâd concealed a paper flower in the folds of his robe. âAnd it was mid spring. The blossoms were just opening.â April tried to conceal tears welling in the corners of her eyes as she watched each of the turtles relive the moment. They could still feel the breeze swirl around them, allowing the light scent of the cherry blossoms to wash over each of them. Donatello opened his eyes. Back to reality. While living in the sewers offered relatively low amounts of bills, he still had to pay for gas and groceries for the family. Reminiscing was nice but he needed to get back to life. IT, as painful a job as when Leo was gone but at least he got the occasional technology repair job in his drop box. Money was money. A wall full of monitors sat in front of him, lighting the entire room. Gadgets in various stages of build were scattered among his floor, desk space all the way around the room with remnants of wires and bolts making a trail practically to his bed in the next room. Maybe he would consider stopping at that building again on his next scavenging trip. Or even the community garden.

I literally donât know how long it will take me to edit this thing. I am near the end of the first arc and starting to edit the beginning. I may get to posting it on AO3 in chapters if I am happy with it. Either way...I liked how the beginning started to turn out. (Post 2007 movie)

Tremors Zootopia Ch 1Â âWelcome to Perfectionâ
Chapter 1. âWelcome to Perfectionâ
In a town called, Perfection, one would expect it to be a paradise, at least thatâs what Nick Wilde expected. When Nick and his mother first moved in, being a young pup he imagined it to be an oasis with pups the same age as him to play with. Instead, Perfection was a small, rickety town, in the middle of the Nevada desert, with the population of fourteen animals.
The town was built in 1889 for mining and was originally called âRejectionâ, which Nick thought the residents should have kept. Now, as an ex-mining town, it now held old buildings, a leaky water tower and only one convenience store within thirty miles, called Greyâs Market. The store was the only place to get a cold drink, when the cooler is working. Thatâs where Nick comes in. Over the years, Nick accepted his fate in the small town and after his mother died, he continued to stay, working in odd jobs, as a Handy-Animal, like fixing the cooler during the long and burning summer. Â
In a remote valley and in the flat-end of a rusty-blue pickup truck, laid a small tan fox. The fox was resting in his sleeping bag, outside of a farm where the dairy cows lived. Asleep, he failed to hear the small footsteps of his friend and partner, Nick Wilde, sneaking up on him. As a shifty fox, Nick was annoyed that his friend slept the whole night while he played look out for the nervous dairy cows and oxes. Nick lost in a game of rock-paper-scissors against him and now that it was morning, needed to wake up the quick-tempered fennec fox.
Nick tucked in his dirty white tee into his jeans before leaning against the edge of the truck, resting his paws on the cold metal. He looked down at his snoring companion and spoke in a smooth and quiet voice.
âGood Morning, Mister Sleepy-Head, this is your wake up call. Please move your tail.â He said, and got no response, except more snoring. He sniffed and glanced at the cows, who woke up and were enjoying their breakfast in the dry pasture. He grinned when he got an idea. Nick climbed onto the truckâs running board and began bouncing and shaking it violently, screaming as he does it.
âStampede! Stampede! Finnick, get out of the way!â Immediately, as Nick predicted, Finnick woke up but constrained in the sleeping bag, tried to make a run for it. Instead, the small fox fell out, face-first, sleeping bag and all, with Nick laughing uproariously as Finnick widely tried to get out of the sleeping bag. Finnick managed to claw himself out and the fear in his eyes swiftly disappeared when he saw the motionless cows, eating hay in front of him. Finnick whirled and growled at Nick.
âYou dumb piece of-!â Finnick stood up and dusted himself off before putting his sleeping back back at the bed of the truck. Finnick is what Nick called a drifter, going in and out of odd jobs like him. He lived in Perfection longer than Nick had by eight years, even if Finnick looked like a pup. His deep and rough voice always throws animals in a loop when they first meet him, when in fact, he is forty years old. Being older, he was the one who taught Nick everything in each odd job they bounce to. Finnick also tried to spread a little wisdom to Nick, but found out that he is a lost cause, since he refused to take his advices. Finnick snatched his boots from off the ground and slipped them on.
âI was in a stampede once.â Finnick began as he grabbed his hat from off the truck. âOver 300, and that little joke of yours was not funny, Nick!â He said sternly and put on his hat, to shield himself from the warm rays. Nick chuckled when he jumped off the truck and leaned against its frame.
âSo how many cows make a stampede, Finny? Three, four, is there a minimum of a stampede?â He asked with a grin, not even trying to hide his sarcasm. Finnick snorted.
âI hope a stampede runs over your tail.â Finnick retorted as he dug his paws into his brown, worn out coat, taking out a pack of cigarettes. Immediately, Nick pulled out his silver lighter holding it up to him as if it was a grand prize. Finnick rolled his eyes. Each of the two had half of what the other wanted, Finnick had the cigarettes and Nick had the lighter. When Finnick traded him one of his cigarettes, Nick thanked him by lighting up Finnickâs before lighting up his own. With a sigh, he jumped back on the truck, taking in the nicotine and blowing it out in a puff a smoke. Nick adjusted his white cowboy hat and slipped on his jean-vest before taking a few puffs of his cigarette.
Finnick glanced around their small campsite and noticed that something was missing when he picked up the empty metal coffee mug.
âYou didnât make breakfast?â He asked with the cigarette in between his fingers.
âI did it yesterday.â Nick replied in a matter-of-factly tone. âIt was cricket and beans.â Finnick placed the cigarette back in between his lips as he stared off into the horizon, trying to recall the past twenty-four hours.
âNoâŠâ He began and turned back to Nick. âIt was eggs, I made the eggs.â
Nick scoffed. âLike hell you did, it was cricket and beans. Are you trying to hustle me? Itâs your turn.â
Finnick smirked and raised a fist up to Nick. âNope.â he replied. âBut letâs make a bet, loser makes breakfast.â He said. Nick scowled and let out a huff before putting up his own fist. They shook their fists up and down three times before moving their fingers to signal their final answer. Nick pulled out paper and Finnick pulled out scissors. Nickâs paw fell in defeat and took a deep breath of his cigarette as Finnick snuffed out his.
âWell, I guess when I was your age, I forgot too.â He smirked and placed the coffee mug into Nickâs arms. Nick gave him a scowl before walking off to make their breakfast as Finnick fell back to enjoy another few minutes of sleep. Now that they finished their job with the dairy cows, after watching them over because they felt uneasy, were paid and the two foxes moved on to their next job. Fixing fences, barb wired and all.
âOw! Gosh-!â Nick turned when he heard Finnick let out an array or profanity from having stabbed his sensitive paws against the needle like barbed wires. Finnick cast aside the gloves to tend to his wounds as he hissed in pain. âThis isnât a job for an intelligent animal.â
Nick sniffed when he finished wrapping the loose wire around the wooden post. âWhy donât you find me one and Iâll ask him.â
âHa.Ha.â Finnick said. He wiped the sweat off his brow and kicked the dirt in frustration. âIf we were really serious with our money, we would quit being hired foxes!â He exclaimed while he helped Nick hammer in the wire into the wood post.
âHandy Foxes, Finny. We are âhandyâ foxes.â Nick corrected, tapping the head of the hammer against the nail as he said it.
âYeah, yeah...one of these days, weâre going to find some real employment.â
âAnd give up all this personal freedom?â Nick replied, motioning to the hot and desolated valley.
âIâm serious, maybe...maybe we should open a popsicle shop, a traveling one.â
Nick snorted at the idea. âSure, or maybe an amusement park.â He slammed the hammer down on the nail head and once the wires were in place, they packed their tools in their non-air conditioned truck to their next assignment.
Nick held tightly onto the steering wheel as he drove over the rocky terrain before driving up to the smooth dirt road. Clouds of dust covered the windshield, and their lungs, making the two foxes cough slightly, before the dust settled and disappeared into the hot air. Nick glanced at Finnick, who was sitting on a pile of phone books, to reach Nickâs eye level and to see over the dashboard. Finnick was reviewing a sheet of paper that held their list of jobs they have to complete.
âWhatâs the agenda today?â Nick asked in a dull tone. His life was starting to feel repetitive. Doing all of the same jobs over and over again, was making him become stale. Being paid less of how hard they work didnât help soften his boredom. He did not enjoy that, which made his desire to leave fester inside him.
âGarbage Day.â Finnick replied, he turned with a brow raise when Nick let out a groan.
âGarbage Day?-I hate that day, how much are we getting paid?â
âFifty bucks. Thatâs forty six dollars more than what we got last time.â
Nick bit his cheek and strummed his fingers on the wheel. âWhat if we move that to aluminum day? Theyâre in the same junkyard.â
Finnick slammed the paper down over his lap and whirled at him. Nick held back rolling his eyes for the rant he was about to receive.
âDamn it, Nick!â Finnick began harshly. âWe donât pick the days, Lionheart wonât be here tomorrow, and I donât need to remind you that he is the one that is paying us. If we donât do it today, we donât get paid!â The truck rocked making them bounce slightly in their seats as Nick drove down the lonely road towards the town. He squinted his eyes as the sunâs glare was beginning to affect his sight but his hearing was working perfectly from Finnick barking into his ear.
âYou need to be smart, the more money, the faster we can get out of this place.â
âYeah, yeah.â Nick replied, breathing out a sigh. His eyes suddenly shifted to an object in the vass desert. From driving for year, he knows when something is out of place, and what he saw was a red truck. His gaze slowly fell of a form walking out of the truck.
âHey...is that whats-his name?â Nick asked. There was a male college student who was out collecting plant species as his final project for months but Nick thought he left since he wasnât around for weeks. Finnick didnât bother looking up as he tried to come up with a schedule for their mountain of work.
âUh...no, he left. This one is the new one they sent over.â
Nickâs ears immediately went up. âWait...it suppose to be a girl.â He turned the wheel making a hard left, leaving the smooth road and onto the rocky terrain. FInnick lurched back in his seat, clutching onto the armrest from the sudden jolt of the vehicle. The truck shook them but that didnât bother Nick as he held a large grin and started putting out a list.
âI bet she has green eyes, beautiful red fur! A tail of temptation, long legs, and a great face!â
Finnick tightened his seat belt. âYou and your stupid mating hormones!â
The truck stalled into a stop, right behind the red truck and next to what appeared to be the campsite. There was a yellow tent built for one, a smothering fire, and only one chair. Nick scanned the area and found her on the ground, tending to a small pit that held her equipment. He watched her stand up, with her ears raised up to the sky. His face fell when he noticed how long they were. Finnick couldnât help but chuckle when he saw a young female bunny, wearing male khakis, a red flannel shirt and a glob of white sunscreen over her nose.
The young bunny, who was in her mid twenties, walked up to them with a friendly smile.
âHi!â She perked, putting out her paw towards Finnick, who shook her hand. âIâm Judy Hopps, Iâm up here for the semester.â
âYeah, Geography right?â Finnick said.
âGeology.â Nick corrected.
Judy opened her mouth. âActually its Seismology, Iâm studying earthquakes!â
Nick grinned. âThat makes sense, since you're a bunny, is that why you're digging here?â
âWell sure, but just because we bunnies live in burrows doesanât mean anything. I just find Seismology interesting.â She said, her face lighting up. âYou must be Finnick and Nick, right? I heard all about you two.â
âWe deny everything.â Finnick chuckled making her laugh at his small joke. Nick silently scoffed and shook his head.
âI actually got a question for you two, do you know that there anyone doing any drilling, or setting off explosives?â
âAround here?â Nick chuckle at her words. âNo way, Carrots.â Perfection didnât have anything important about it or in it. Tourists wouldnât even stay for a day, usually they drive right on through to the next town that had more to offer, like a working air conditioner. There was nothing in the land either, unless an animal wanted to live in isolation. There is no oil underneath the earth which makes it useless to the government.
Judy frowned.
âWell, I am monitoring these seismographs.â She said. Finnick and Nick gave her a blank look which made her slowly explain. âThey measure vibrations?â
Nick gently tapped Finnick in the shoulder. âVibrations in the ground.â He explained which made Judy smile at his understanding.
âYes, and I have been getting these strange readings and I was wondering if you two had heard anything?â
Finnick tipped his hat at her. âWe havenât but, weâll ask around to see if anyone else in town had heard something.â
âI would appreciate that, I just hope itâs not broken.â She nervously said, looking towards her equipment. The school had the machines out in the desert for three years. Being out in the elements could have caused the machine to malfunction. Judy hopped that it was not the case. Finnick glanced at Nick, motioning his head at Judy while his eyes did the talking.
âDonât you want to say anything?â Nick gave him a look of disbelief, motioning back with his brows.
âNo!â
They both turned back at Judy who at the same time meet their eyes, having not notice their silent conversation.
âAnyone, sorry to bother you two.â She smiled, giving their car a tap before stepping back. Finnick smiled widely at her. Something about her made him instantly like her.
âNo problem.â He replied. Nick turned the truck back on and driving off. Finnick leaned his head out and waved his paw. âNice meeting ya, see you around!â He called before sitting back against his seat. Judy waved back and watched them get back on the main road. She unconsciously touched her nose and gasped when she saw the white sunscreen on her fingers. The whole time she had been talking to them with sunscreen still on her face. It made her cheeks turn warm.
Finnick leaned his head back, feeling the wind of the open window brush against his fur.
âYou know, if you want, we can ask about those seismographs thing?â Finnick said, turning his head lazily to Nick, who muzzle contorted, as if he smelled something awful.
âWhat do we know about that stuff?â He said bitterly, still disappointed that Judy wasnât a vixen. She was easy to look at, he could admit that. He noticed she had amethyst colored eyes, something that was quite rare to have. Most bunnies had green, brown, and gray.
Finnick shrugged. âNothing, but it would be a nice way to get to know her better.â
âWhy would I waste my time doing that?â
âDamn it, Nick, you wonât go for any girl unless she fits that list of yours!â Finnick put up his paw and counted down with his fingers, mockingly imitating him. âVixen, red fur, long legs, great face-!â
âWhatâs wrong with that?â
âLetâs not forget dumber than my tail, like that vixen, Bobby Lynn Grounds.â
Nick fumed and pulled down the truckâs sunvisor, where he had a collection of photos of identical vixens that fit the description on his list and pointed to one in the middle.
âTammy Lynn Grounds.â
Finnick waved him away. âIt doesnât matter, they were all dead weight. âOh my nail, I broke it!â, âOh I canât work in these shoes!â â He said in a high pitched mocking tone of Nickâs last mate.
Nick frowned. âIâm a victim of circumstance.â
âReally? Because I thought you were being picky. Look, don't make the same mistake I made, kept looking for the perfect girl for years and you know where it got me?....to you.â
This time Nick rolled his eyes. âGive me a break.â

We've all seen poured concrete driveways which have large cracks operating throughout the middle or a nook has dropped off. As a hardscape contractor, I used to inform individuals the one assure you get with concrete driveways and pool decks is they'll crack. In nearly each case when the concrete slab is eliminated we would discover clear proof that little or no foundation was ever tried. You will now need to arrange the screed boards. Set them so that the top is 5mm higher than the underside of the paving shall be. Screed the compacted sand off. If the sand just isn't excessive enough, add more and compact as soon as once more.
