♱ Character Inspiration ♱

　✒︎ Ryuuto Sakamaki

Thank you so much for the tag @kindan-no-kanojo ! Ryuuto's inspiration is nothing too exciting, just DiaLover stuff >< Nevertheless, I'll include a little explanation below the cut too! This was super fun to do! I'll tag: @sakamaki-richter ( i wanna know the inspo behind how you write him >< ), @strawberry--bride , & @vampieress !

✥ Cordelia ✥

Obviously, Cordelia was a huge inspiration for Ryuuto's character. Initially, though, she wasn't necessarily going to be his mother! However, once I thought a bit deeper about it, Ryuuto's character took a 180.

She greatly influenced his character design, his personality, and his route; I wanted Ryuuto to be a mix of Richter and Laito, for Cordelia (a child that would do anything for her and would love her, but one that wasn't manipulated by siblings, and wasn't directly related to Karl).

Additionally, I wanted there to be some indication upon looking at Ryuuto that he was Cordelia's son, hence the purple tips to his hair, so that is another point of interest. She also greatly influenced how Ryuuto interacts with the world and women especially, much like with the triplets. His more submissive and secretly Do-M nature is thanks to her c:

✥ Richter ✥

Thank you to this man for being the original reason Ryuuto was made into this world. Ryuuto was going to originally be the polar opposite of his Father, like a delinquent teen made to cause trouble for the Sakamaki's. However, the more I begun to like Richter, the more he influenced how Ryuuto ended up acting, and still very much does!

His more reserved nature, is direct influence from Richter, and his devotion and willingness to do almost anything for Cordelia is also a big thing they have in common. Also, physically, they look v much alike which I really am happy how that worked out. Ryuuto's basic character is a mini-Richter for Yui to romance lololol.

✥ Laito ✥

As my second fav DiaLover, Laito obviously ended up playing a huge part in Ryuuto's story and character. They are very similar, and yet very different, from one another.

Ryuuto is far for sincere than Laito in his interactions with Cordelia, and his "love" is less about lust, and more about devotion to her. However, they are both very reserved with their true selves when it comes to Yui, and you can never truly tell how they are feeling (albeit they have different facades they put up) which was a big thing I stole from Laito's character lolol.

✥ Reiji ✥

This one is very brief but since Reiji is my fav DiaLover, I had to mention him ><. Ryuuto's more "refined" nature and mature character is thanks to Reiji; I guess he is technically a cross between Laito and Reiji if I had to pin-point Ryuuto's personality by using the DiaBoys, but yeah c: I just really like more reserved, tall, stoic men hehe

✥ Kino ✥

This one is also very brief but I took some inspiration from Kino with how Ryuuto is perceived/implemented into the plot. Without Kino, the plot kind of (from what I've read) carries on without him and the same is very true for Ryuuto; You can, for example, play as Shuu's romantic interest with him not affecting that story majorly, if you didn't want that.

Similarly, he is kind of an... ominous figure. If Ryuuto were canon, for example, his implementation would be kind of like Kino's and Richter's, where they are on the sidelines and are generally an unsettling/antagonistic character, unless you play his route.

✥ Ayato ✥

Another brief one as I was struggling for who to put here. But! Ayato does hold some inspiration from Ryuuto with being Cordelia's "favourite" son, or the son she wants to succeeded most. I took how she treats Ayato and applied it to Ryuuto in a more isolated way; Cordelia's favourite son, according to her interactions with Ryuuto, is him (but with the triplets, Ayato is, instead, her pride and joy).

I wanted to take on board her manipulation over Ayato in this way for Ryuuto, especially with (in my universe) Ryuuto being older than Ayato and thus - technically - her heir, not Ayato.

6. What is your favourite sense to incorporate in your writing and why?

I was gonna say touch, because I know that I really overuse the way something feels. Obi-Wan's cloak is always soft, or he's got silken tunics, or the Force (especially when talking about the Force) feels like a breeze, or water over the toes, or the inside of an eggshell. I really love coming up with very specific but unexpected ways of describing how things feel, but -

I think my actual answer is sound. I hadn't realised but I really go in for a sort of secondary conversation happening. Clothing whispers, and there are footsteps. Voices are muddled, or someone sighs. I think it's because I really like how sound can tell a story apart from but complementary to dialogue. It's a kind of subtext for me. If someone can't speak, then maybe the sound of a thread breaking expresses the bad news they've come with, or the sounds of bells in the distance might represent a newfound sense of hope. Yeah. I love using sound!

12. What headcanon will you keep implementing in your fics, even if canon ends up contradicting it?

I KNOW YOU THINK I'M GONNA SAY KORKIE KENOBI BUT I'M NOT BECAUSE THAT'S REAL AND NOT A HEAD CANON!

But there are SO many. My number one favourite is that Obi-Wan has visions. They're vague, infrequent, and sometimes frightening, and very uncommon even amongst Jedi. Qui-Gon didn't quite know what to do with them, and even Yoda was sort of like, "Well, they don't seem to be specific, or triggered, or frequent, or open to interpretation so.....idk?" and though there were more options, Obi-Wan just sort of went, "Oh, actually they're 100% gone now, don't worry about me lololol" and lied, so that when Anakin comes to him he's vaguely uncomfortable because he doesn't fucking know either, man! That's my fave hc.
