this may be too much effort to answer but i was wondering what products you would recommend for a makeup starter kit!! my makeup rn is super old and crusty and i’ve been slowly saving up money to buy all new stuff and wanted to know what you recommend for a good foundation / tinted moisturizer , concealer , brush set , maybe cheap blush and lipgloss and a eyeshadow palette ? idk sorry this is a lot i’m just so lost and know you’re very knowledgeable!! thank u :))
Tyty for sending this omg I'm so bored ... It depends a bit on how much you wanna spend but my absolute staple kit is bb cream, mascara, blush, highlighter and eyebrow gel (u didn't ask but the milk makeup one is the best)! My favorite bb cream is the erborian bb cream au ginseng- it's a little expensive but so good for your skin and feels like nothing but it's soo perfecting, it has the look of a high end soft matte foundation but with none of the heaviness. I also like the kosas tinted face oil and glossier perfecting skin tint- the kosas oil is much higher coverage than the glossier tint so it depends how much coverage you like! I use LA girl concealer bc it's cheap and good and I don't rely too much on concealers!! For brushes I highly recommend Real Techniques- I think you can get them at Ulta! I mostly apply makeup with my fingers but I love their mini multitask brush for blush and I also have a sponge from them. Wet n wild makes amazing color cosmetics as far as blush/highlighter- I have their my melody+kuromi face palette and it's my favorite palette ever, really beautiful blush and highlight shades! I also recently bought the my melody eyeshadow palette and it's so cute and fun (I'm not really an eyeshadow guru but it's fun to play with!) Additionally I love their eyeshadow primer. I have tons of blushes tbh- some other faves are glossier cloud paints, clinique cheek pop and assorted colourpop blushes! Btw Colourpop is hit or miss imo and they discontinue/run out of stuff constantly but I really like the mini eye palettes I have from them! My favorite lipglosses are the tower 28 lip jellies- there's really nothing like them they're so shiny, yummy, translucent and perfect. I have 5 🙃 some other lipglosses I love are nyx this is everything lip oil and half caked instant crush🥰 hope this helps u!

makeup routine for lazy peeps like me
none of you asked for this but I feel like sharing it bc I'm bored and on a long ass car ride
🌸
Step one: SKINCARE
skincare is my life!!! I may be a depressive ass bitch who isolates herself but I love my skincare
my before makeup skincare consists of:
cleanser (I use cetaphil bc its cheap and works amazingly 👌👌)
toner (I use both garniers new rose spray and milk makeup matcha toner bc I love both smmmmmmmm!)
moisturizer (I'm currently using tartes h2o moisturizer but I'm trying to use it up so I can buy neutrogena gel one for combo skin)
an eye depuffer if im feeling fancy (I use garniers but i want to buy pixis gold one)
lip chap!!! (I love carmex, I bought it the other day and my lips have never been softer)
🌸
step two: PRIMER
so I just started doing this, and I'm still figuring it out because I dont wear foundation/concealer cause I dont need them and also think it's too much work to put in everyday, but I wear highlighter
I start with spot priming my large pores with porefessional, then I spray elf aqua mist all over my face to just prime and hydrate it (that is gonna be a BLESSING when winter comes and all moisture sucks itself from my face)
🌸
step three: BROWS
I have really strong brows so for brows I just pencil in some more definition with the nyx micro pencil (I love it sooooo muchhhh the colour matches my brows amazingly, which is a miracle) then I brush the elf brow gel through it (I place gel on my brow then brush through with the spoolie from the pencil)
🌸
step four: EYES
this is the longest step for me besides skincare, just because of how much I put on my eyes (which isnt a lot)
I start by priming my eyes bc i have really oily eyelids. to prime I actually use the elf duo concealer (the one that comes with a white glittery highlighter). I blend it in with my fingers then set with the elf hd setting powder (the big one not the undereye one)
once my eyes are set, I bring out my tartelette in bloom palette (rip funny girl which fell into my tub😭). I start by blending mixture of jetsetter and sweetheart into my crease, dragging it under my eyes and on my lid. to finish my eyeshadow I take either one of the shimmers off the palette, a champagne highlighter, or a pinkish shimmer from my big 100 colour elf palette
once my eyeshadow is done, I finish my eyes by curling my lashes and applying lash paradise mascara (one and a half coats; I take it out of the tube, apply it to my first eye and then apply whats left to the other, I then repeat doing the second eye first)
🌸
step five: HIGHLIGHTER
I love highlighter so much. Highlighter is my life. Highlighter is my love. I alternate between seeing my face from space or super natural glow from inside
I start with putting a liquid highlighter (usually elfs bare illuminating one) on my high points (cheekbones, brow bones, nose, cupids bow, chin) by blending with my fingers
if I'm feeling like it that day I might set it with either lit or strobe from the tarte pro glow contour kit, or elf baked highlighter in moonlight pearls
🌸
step six: LIPS
one word: lipgloss
Im currently in love with fenty gloss and essences wet look glosses
🌸
step seven: SETTING SPRAY
I always set my face with a spray to avoid my makeup running down my face, so after im done my makeup I take a bath in all nighter
🌸
and thats it! I keep it super simple because I love just accentuating my features and HIGHLIGHTER
I hope yall enjoy this!

Digital anon again, in ur experience what tablet works best?? Do u ever have problems with the whole connecting tablet to computer process, any warnings and advice for starting digital?? And (sorry for all the questions) what do u use to draw digital ??
Hey nony! I got a bit lenghty so I’m going under the cut.
I’ve only ever owned two tablets so I can’t say I know a lot-- I’ve had a Genius MousePen i608X which is fairly cheaper than a Wacom, but unnecessarily large with a tiny work space and the pen was battery powered and super fragile, so if you’re a clumsy idiot like me who drops his things on a whim, it doesn’t last. And I think they don’t even make Genius tablet anymore, so if you were to buy one it had to be via a third party site. But it’s cheap and the driver works fine, same pressure sensitivity as an intuos.
My current one is a Intuos pen small CTL480L by Wacom. It’s small but just enough for me. The cable is tiny on purpose so they make you buy the wireless kit, but I just bought an USB extensor. It comes with 3 extra nibs in a hidden compartment that no one tells you that exists, and the nib packs are ridiculously expensive and might not even ship to your country (they don’t ship to mine) but fret not, there’s tutorials online that teach you how to make DYI nibs with trimmer line and it’s super cheap and easy. The driver will sometimes randomly fail and not read the pressure (usually when you had the tablet connected for a while without using it) and you have to restart them via Services (if on windows) which is a bit annoying but it’s quick to solve. Wacom is the go-to for most artists sssso from experience and from what I always hear I’d recommend that but!
I came across this post about a tablet that’s fairly cheaper and pontentially superior than a wacom’s so it’s worht to take a look! The cheapness factor depends on where you live though bc the shipping turned out to be more expensive than a wacom tablet itself.
Now whichever you decide in the end, from my experience you probs don’t absolutely need a big ass active area and 2k pressure levels. If you get one that has that, neat!! But it’s less about the tool and more about what you do with it. I’ve never tried a more expensive tablet but I’m doing fine with the one I got now which is the simplest tier in wacom.
About the installing process, it’s chill. The same process as installing any programs in your computer. I’ve heard from other people with Genius tablets that the driver simply won’t work, but with Wacom you should be safe. The driver derps sometimes like mentioned before, but you just have to go to Services and reboot it, takes a few seconds. Once the driver is properly installed in your computer, you just plug in the tablet via USB and it starts automatically, get to drawing.
I use Paint Tool SAI for making art. It’s a paid program, but my cheap teen ass pirated it a few years ago orz others also commonly Photoshop, Manga Studio and Fire Alpaca (which is a free one). I’m set on SAI cause it’s simple enough and made specifically for making digital art. I use Manga Studio when I want to do effects like patterned backgrounds.
About tips on starting digital... Mann it’s an entire new world, I could sit and go on and on! I’ve been drawing digitally since 2014 and there’s still things I don’t know. The most basic advices I can give are (most of these applied to a SAI user):
Set your canvas to be 4000x4000px large and with a 300 ppi resolution. You don’t have to use the entire space, and you should size it down before uploading, but a larger canvas has better quality and minor mistakes are less visible.
When filling in base colors, use the magic wand to select an entire area and the select/deselect brushes to trim your selection. Saves you a lot of trouble. (ps works better if you’re doing a clean, “closed” lineart)
Try different brush settings! Sometimes what isn’t working is the kind of brush you’re using. Play around, look up what setting the artist you like use and you might find a brush that makes you comfortable when drawing (took me 12 years to realize the brush I used to sketch was making it harder for me).
SAVE. ALL. THE TIME. Set one of your express keys to be a saving button and soon enough it’ll become an almost unconscious habit.
Set a bunch of hotkeys to make your life easier! I don’t use them enough tbh, but it’s good to have some for flipping and rotating the canvas (I use tab to flip the canvas and Q+W to rotate counter-clockwise and clockwise). Always flip the canvas during the sketching process because when flipped you can notice mistakes more easily!
Try to avoid using black and white to shade and highlight your art. I mean, when choosing a darker/lighter shade for shadows/highlights, try moving the mouse sideways and changing the color a bit, rather than just choosing the same color but closer to white/black.
SAVE A FUCK TON OF TUTORIALS, EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO USE THEM NOW, SAVE THEM SOMEWHERE AND LOOK AT THEM AND EXPERIMENT! There’s SO many things you can learn and you can only grow with digital art by experimenting. I struggle a lot actually to step out of my comfort zone and try new stuff which leads to my art style evolving faster than my digital process orz but I’m trying!!
It WILL feel awkward and you WILL feel like it doesn’t look good enough, and that is normal. You move to a whole new medium and it’s like you’re learning how to art all over again. You have expectations on how your art will look like, and you’ll be a bit upset because it doesn’t look how you wanted to yet. It’s normal. Might take months, maybe even a couple years for you to find yourself and what works for you digitally, but it’s because only YOU know what your expectations are, to everyone else it’ll be an awesome process of improvement. Look up a bunch of tutorials, watch speedpaints and see how people do their thing, try different brushes.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask again or DM me directly! I still have a lot to learn and experiment but I can share what I know! Hope this helped a little!

i splurged today and bought myself 5 new colors of nail polish, (a bright yellow, a peach/coral type color, a shimmery light purple, a kind of chrome-y purple color, and a pretty turquoise) a pack of design strips, and a kit that comes with sticker sheets, 2 brushes and a dotting tool, striping tape, charms, stencils, decals, and 3 small pouches of glitter. i almost got a basic dip powder set, but i was trying to practice control lol. everything i got came to under $25 though, so i think i did really good. definitely next time, though! and family dollar has a filing kit 9the electric ones salons use) that i’d like to try, but im still pretty far from that, and also i think i’ll want a more reliable one bc the one they have is like $8 and i don’t trust something like that that comes that cheap.
anyways, i gotta file my nails and then im gonna have soooo much fun.
#personal#i found all this at family dollar and cvs im so excited#the kit is very winter-themed#but thats okay
