To say their life wasn’t miserable, was somewhat true, it just felt inconsistent?

The title ‘Fallen Star’ comes directly from their origin. They did not have parents who had them. Xe did not grow up nor have connections to people; They were quite literally a star in orbit, who eventually succumbed to danger, and fell.

They are not the only ‘Star Person’ though, they don’t really have a species name. But alas (I was lazy) nobody really cared that much.

Instead of staying in space and around their people, Cas, at a strangely young age when it comes to falling—3/Three— had essentially fallen into a blank land.

Life before falling was simple, easy, and uneventful. They never really had meaning, just were a star: Supposed to be there until death…. Falling normal happens to those who are newly born/formed, as an accident.

The actual world they found themself into, wasn’t that easy in the slightest. There were other beings, creatures, and life around. To wake up in a bush of berries? Scariest thing to a small, star-like child.

They weren’t up anymore, xe were down.

They spent, around seven more years (Three to Ten) just living alone, deep in a forest, alone. No school, no ability to speak, read- Instead they learned off animals. How to eat. where to sleep, to stay hidden, all of it. They did it alone, and daily in fear of death.

Of course being a child and trying to learn off animals, meant many unsavory things, and worst of all: Finding said animals dead. When you’re copying them, and hunters kill them, it’s obvious to believe you’ll be hunted just the same.

Their first experience with corruption was in that forest, they didn’t know how to fight, they didnt know how to defend themself, and they certainly didn’t expect an arrow-Fused with corruption— To go through their eye, and even worse out the back of their skull. (Since then, they have blocked that memory out)

It did not kill them, but they did not stay conscious for long after. They had, truly no ides of what was happening, and to xe? They were going to die. They weren’t gonna wake up at all.

While out, an Angel— Someone they’d learn to call ‘mother’ found, and took them to her home. Unable to get rid of the corruption, but able to stop it from spreading, and eventually advising them to not show that part of their face when Cas woke up.

Of course technically being 10, they were sent into the proper grade for their age, which, they had little idea of what the hell they were doing, especially considering their ability to speak read and more, was insanely broken.

Without friends, first meeting Z and [SPIRIT] and lastly meeting Haven, among others, they probably would have not made it through as a somehow passing student. Thank all that help—

Okay, not really, they constantly lived in fear of others, and typically clung to their friends. Their ‘mother’ was okay, she also simply wasn’t trustworthy…?

Cas did not have an easy time… Trusting adults. Even when they’re friendly, which did typically cause strain between them and their ‘mom’ especially if they felt any sort of anger.

Anger never was violence, yet Cas didn’t particularly like the feeling of anger, and it’d tend them to get scared off. They just, didn’t really know even how to be a ‘person’ until maybe. 14? Even then they still were weird, though weird was okay.

Cas also definitely fell first for Haven, because being weird was a bonding and a very cute and adorable one and Cas just found Haven really pretty— And they made the mistake of telling their mother- And then xeir mother was like ‘i ship it’ and of course, thats embarrassing—-

When it came to the wilting, that on its own was the funnest experience ever! (/sarc) Their mother did not die, however they did do something to protect Cas: That also really broke Castiel….

Their mother pulled them away from the others, into somewhere they knew to be safe, and the home for angels! Heaven— Somewhere Cas was absolutely betrayed to end up in, because for two years they believed their friends were dead, and Heaven itself was so unbelievably un-comforting, that they chose to leave! Even when not knowing where they’d end up—

They forced themselves to fall, and to them…. Falling was familiar.

Hey, I heard you like Duel Links Lore! As owner of the (inactive 😓) @incorrectduellinksquotes I would like to impart the Cursed Knowledge if I can.

First, an easy way to tell if someones AI? If they re-enact a duel in their talk. Pegasus and Kaiba(DM) roleplay their DK duel, for example.

Starting with DM, an interesting note about Isis/Ishizu - Even before Yami Marik was added, she and Rishid/Odion had a conversation about how Malik/Marik was missing from Duel Links... ish. If I remember correctly, what they actually say is that Malik is missing in general, and they came to Duel Links to try and find him. While Isis has evidence pointing to her being an AI clone, Rishid has no damning evidence either way. Its entirely possible that Rishid is the real Rishid, and Malik has actually gone missing. I wonder if (Yami) Malik's inclusion in the game was considered in poor taste and got backlash.

Also, its evident that The Real Kaiba used Kaiba (DM) as his avatar for a while, before DSOD world was complete. Oddly, Roland/Isono seems to listen to Mokuba(DM) as his superior despite Mokuba being an AI copy, which is just funny

Onto GX - Its true that most characters are pretty ambiguous, but theres some that are obvious. Judai and Yubel (separate, not Yubel/Judai) are both AI, Cronos/Crowler does the RP thing, Ryo/Zane is still a butt much, but thats about it. The only one who has any indication they're real is... The Chazz. Yes, Black Thunder seems to be the genuine article, if and only because of the company he brings with him. Ojamas Yellow, Green, and Black wouldnt be there if Manjoume was an AI, and even if they were they wouldnt Leak Yubel's Event like Yellow did.

Vrains is where it gets interesting again, but frankly thats its own post. The question isnt "are they AI copies" the question is like. If you're a digital copy of something already digital, and the original is gone... is there a functional difference calling you a copy? Or is it fair to consider you the original? the funny ourple blob boi is a philisophical nightmare and he'd probably enjoy knowing he is.

OH FUCK YEAH!! Thanks a bunch, this is a FANTASTIC compilation of interesting lore bits; I didn't know a lot of these! (as it goes, having not played the game for like...the first four years it was out dfhghsdfg) THE FACT CHAZZ MIGHT BE THE REAL DEAL, OF ALL CHARACTERS??!? ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. PLEASE. proving his humanity thanks to Ojama Yellow. truly only the best for The Chazz.

The thing about if a character reenacts a duel in their dialogue being a good benchmark for whether or not they're AI is fascinating....the brings up an interesting side-tangent with that when you have two confirmed AI characters dueling each other, and their dialogue isn't a perfect duel reenactment but still implies an established dynamic and history (like aporia and z-one's dialogue when they duel each other /obligatory comment about my old men). The way the AI themselves are evolving and talking with each other and being their own variations of these people....that's a can of worms all its own.

Arc-V's been such a weird case because even if everyone there happens to be AI, they're so kneedeep in trying to figure out how the memory cloning process works, what brings a person into this world, that you wonder if there's going to be some sort of realization of the self for one of those guys on the horizon. Could be fun if so!!!!

very very interested to see where the VRAINS implications go cuz that is SUPREMELY INTERESTING lore (especially for a fucking FREEMIUM TRADING CARD GAME ONLINE) and I want to see what they do with it. havent even SEEN vrains yet but I like watching these characters try to solve a mystery that should have never been their problem in the first place. great stuff!

Okay so FIRST: the amethyst.

Because of the ourple I am already associating it with the rift-- since Grian does illusion magic, do you think one of his abilities with the amethyst could be to send others into a make-believe illusion world? To make them see and 'live in' other hypothetical 'timelines' and possibilities? In Grian's hands, I could see these powers either turning out wondrous or horrific... or a chaotic mix of both.

And SECOND: corvid Mumbo will never not make me go tee hee -kicks my legs back and forth-

God I can imagine him being a very good fit for a witch that runs off of crystals, being instinctively inclined to snatch up shiny things on default. Do you think he has his own personal collection of crystally knick-knacks outside of the amethyst Grian gives him? And when Grian grows those wings in, oh boy... Mumbo is going to have quite the situation in his hands. Teaching him to fly, to preen, to avoid knocking everything on the shelves over every time he turns around.

I’m trying to do research on like. Dnd and elder scrolls types of magic to get a sense on what is feasible to like, just some self taught witch BUT. I think sending physically sending someone to like, a fake dimension of his creation would be the end goal, for him. At the moment he can probably handle more hallucinatory things?
