thinking about my au of geno, who succeeded in erasing his timeline. thinking about him and killer. thinking about them fighting and killer slashing geno’s shirt open, only to get a glimpse of his absolutely demolished ribs. thinking about him pinning geno down and yanking his shirt up only for his gaze to catch on geno’s soul. he’s seen partial souls before, but they’re few and far between. and someone surviving on one-ninth of a soul and pure determination? reminds killer of themselves. tbinkinf about killer’s knife slicing along geno’s ribs, because they’re so jagged and messy and he could carve something prettier out of them. thinking about killer reaching into geno’s ribs and getting cut along his arm by the bones as they reach for his soul. killer jarring geno’s soul to study it. geno pressing until killer lets him see theirs. not to experiment on, the way killer tries with him. just observe, because he can’t fight the biologist in him. thinking about how they’d indulge themselves, because nearly everyone in the castle was a scientist at one point and sometimes they just cant help it

i think after and geno both see themselves in each other. like, they share a literal SOUL. i’ll be damned if they don’t have some sort of unconscious connection (maybe like a sixth sense) when it comes to each other. they’re two halves of a torn paper. can you really say which half came first?

i do have gripes with aftertale’s characterizations and its inconsistencies when it comes to undertale’s themes as a whole but then again, it’s fandom!! i think for utmv as a whole, you have to kind of go in with a “fix-it” mentality. or at least be aware of the disconnect and where it comes from

error is a WONDERFUL character. i ADORE his personality and i go back to the askerror blog constantly. the thing i hate though, is their backstory. i think they have a lot of potential other than “genocide route sans makes drastic decisions and go insane.” i have my own ideas, but they’re still being workshopped, as much as i’d like to talk about them :) glitchduo my beloved. the twins ever

i think of determination’s role in aftertale a lot!! in undertale itself, determination is VERY, very closely linked with the color gold. despite frisk/chara/the player’s SOUL being red, gold is an incredibly narratively significant color!!

aftertale is rich in reds and blues, tying in thematically with its main characters, but not so much in gold. of course, that’s mainly early fandom and also just aftertale’s heavy color and style symbolism. and i also cannot remember where i was going with this but i guess its a neat point lmaoo

but again, the dynamic between geno and after is so nice and refreshing (?) it’s fun to see them eventually get on better terms. how after is characterized at points does irk me a bit but it isnt awful. their motives in comparison to geno is so !! cool. geno who endured all of that for who knows how long (realistically) vs after who is only now becoming aware of the cycle. i wonder if geno sees himself in after. and also their treatment of paci,, ough

and geno being dumb reflecting through error </3 idiots. ily glitch duo. error on a whole is fascinating and i like to pick at their character

the “determination is one hell of a drug” bugs me too but i cant say exactly why. it kinda messed with my perception of determination for a bit before i went back and recontexualized it for myself by looking at undertale some years ago

Totally random but I thought I'd share this! I've actually made my own AU with the Apple Twins being dragons! Hilariously it's a silly little crossover with Minecraft, where everyone is a different mob!

Anyway Nightmare is obviously an ender dragon but I kind of ran away with things and made up an entirely new Overworld dragon for Dream! (Also for the sake of more dragons there's a Nether variant as well.)

And even better: Ink is something infected by sculk turning INTO a dragon! (Slowly.)

Also Error and his brothers are withers (slightly different from the norm) because Yes.

I just thought you'd like to see my not quite but also yes dragon balance AU!

Dream looks absolutely majestic, and the idea of Ink turning into a skulk based dragon I am in LOVE. Those wings are to DIE FOR. A skulk based dragon just in general is cool af ngfl. And the way I immediately knew Nightmare was the Ender dragon of this scenario LMFAO. Are the boys Endermen??? Or at least one of them?? Though I could also see them as zombies too.

Error makes a perfect wither btw. And when you say all of them are withers, do. Do you mean separate entities. Three different withers. Or are they each a head of one wither. Cuz I am DYING at the idea of Error, Geno, and Fresh being a three headed being constantly arguing with each other SOBBING.

I knew I wanted to remind the viewer of Geno through his design but I also didn’t want to copy it? I was very nervous about that. I also didn’t want Moltendreams!Error to be easily mistaken for Fatal Error either. I made a few variants with Error’s classic dark bones, but the contrast just didn’t feel right? But then I noticed that single frame in the gif of Error on the Wiki by ms-wabbit and inspiration struck. Smashing Error’s inverted colors and Geno’s whites and reds finally solved my color problem and I’m very happy with the result!

Hey no worries! You’re not wrong about him looking like Geno- Blue Scarf is actually a variant of Geno himself that I created wayyyy back in 2016 and have been continuously working on his story since! His AU’s name is REDAftertale, a combination of REDACT and Aftertale, and the AU’s been a bit of a passion project that’s taken over my life.

I do have a lot of development on it, I just haven’t really given much detail about it in public yet- I have a ref of Blue Scarf on this blog somewhere, and a ref of the Sans that’s one of his current brothers, but most of everything else I’ve kept to myself and my friend circle just bc,,, Idk how I wannna publish it HDKDJDK. Idk if I wanna do like a comic or a fic or what LOL

I actually nearly gave like a multi-paragraph story summary as I was writing this answer out bc I just love talking about him HDKDJD but I’ll try to make it a really concise elevator pitch sort of thing:

Basically, what if you took a Geno out of his save screen, and put him into a timeline where he could do something? What if he wasn’t confined to just watching from afar, and was actually able to influence how things went from within?

Granted, the timeline isn’t his own, and his own influence is honestly less… in his control than he would like. But what could he learn here? What could he take back?

Hi! I saw your post about Fortnite OC Asks and decided to send you one!

My main has been Captain America for, well, since I was able to get him (about a year ago), but with the release of the Ageless I’ll probably start maining him. I haven’t even unlocked him, but my head has been creating loooooore

So, my Alt/variant/snapshot version of him is trying to escape the legacy of Geno, just like I believe the prime version to be doing. However, mine for sure is doing everything he can to be known for truth and honor instead of power and control. He wields Charlotte’s demonslayer blade because… reasons, and has taken another snapshot Cap’s shield after winning an intense duel with him. He knows he’s not the leader of the Oathbound, but is working to uncover the machinations of his “father” and “brother” to help prove to the other loopers that he wishes to help them against things to come…

OOO this is so neat! I love this idea!! Honestly the Ageless is also just such a neat skin already too so this is just super neat!

Charlotte's demonslayer blade is also just such a good pickaxe I cannot blame him for using it. Also Cap's a good skin! I've been using Meow Skulls as my main for a while personally.

Hey MH, I’ve spent the last few hours going through your MH-SWAP stuff and I adore all of it. (It’s also my favorite Undertale-au) I love how you’ve strayed away from the Fanon interpretations and sticking true to the original concept for the character, while simultaneously implementing your own creative input. One of my other favorite Underswap variants is the ask!error series where US-sans is taken from his brother by error-sans and is slowly turned into an error from the anti void and long term isolation. (Sry idk if you’d heard/seen it or not)

So my question I guess is what would your MH-Swap characters react/look like if they were put in the same situation

I.E: Noodles loses his au and watches his brother be taken, and Neptune being taken from his friends, family, and slowly becoming an error.

I’ve never talked about my opinion of AskErrorSans but tl;dr I have an eternal soft spot for Error Sans, although his fanon content doesn’t interest me in the slightest :>;; it’s been a long time since I read through the comic, and making a proper take on Swap MH in AskError’s story isn’t something I’d actually do (I already have too much to draw anyway ahah), but just for fun here’s some undeveloped thoughts on how that might work:

Neptune's interactions with Error would be pretty different from how AskError!Blueberry felt about Error - in Swap MH’s geno run Neptune isn’t the skelebro who has an unwavering belief in a murderous human’s ability to be good, so he certainly wouldn’t have that attitude towards Error. AskError!Blueberry had had his moments of trying to manipulate Error and Neptune would definitely do that too, but he wouldn’t be as enthusiastic about watching Error’s stories or answering questions and such.

Noodle’s fight with Error wouldn’t go the same as AskError!SwapPaps’ either - he’d be a lot more openly horrified and on the defensive rather than attacking (but not holding back either), and he’d be the one trying to appeal to any goodness left in this version of his brother.

tbh most of the AskError!Swap bros’ dialogue would be swapped if it were the Swap MH bros, with some minor differences here and there!

oh and during that fight, Neptune having his soul tied up in strings would be even more alarming to both bros given his low HP. glitchy manchild needs to be careful with that it’s very fragile

I would probably try and find a way to have more of the Swap MH cast to be involved (maybe rescued somehow), because I can forgive AskError for being largely Sans-centric since it was the early fandom days, but by now I am so tired of AUs that only allow the skelebros to be relevant while everyone else is lucky if they get a mention :’’’’>

I don’t plan on making an Error-ified Neptune design but the idea itself is cool as heck :0 Neptune’s inverted colour scheme is all yellows, oranges and brown (though I’d probably keep some blue on him), so maybe I’d call him Jupiter? Jupiterror???

also I know it was stated that Blueberror couldn’t go back to his own AU as an error but that is Too Damn Sad for my tastes, so in the end I’d just be like “no screw it he’s allowed back, having a glitchy skeletal abomination enjoying domestic post-pacifist life is fine. it’s fine”

FAVORITE COLOR/COLORS? FAVORITE PLANT? FAVORITE UTMV CHARACTER/ AU? O_O

My fav colors are Green, yellow/gold, white, purple/indigo and pink!! I especially like greens that have more blue in them, same goes for purples!

As for favorite plant, it’s hard to choose, but I adore succulents!! I love how tiny and shaped they are <3 and Venus Flytraps have always been very interesting to me!! I also really really like Birch trees and Redwood trees!! Birch trees are just very gorgeous and fascinating to me, and I like how their forests look with the way they’re spread out! Then as for Redwoods, their sheer height and size just astonishes me!! I’ve always wanted to visit a Redwood forest in person so badly and see the trees in person because they’re just. So. Cool!!!!!!!

Obviously Error and Fresh are my absolute favs, but since I talk about and draw them all the time (and they’re both more their own thing now anyway), my other favorite, more Undertale related AUs are Outertale and Swapfell (Indigo) :D

Outertale was the very first AU I liked the most when I was first into Undertale, because I just love the aesthetic, colors and character designs of it so much!! Space has always, always been extremely fascinating and super cool to me, and I think it’s all very pretty and nice to look at. Also, to an extent, I also really like any other AU variant of Outertale for those same reasons :]]

I like Swapfell Indigo a lot because I like the specific interpretations of at least Sans and Papyrus a lot, plus the designs and colors of everything are really cool!! Purple/indigo and gold are such good colors, and they go really well together! Also I very much like Chara being alive :] I didn’t get into this AU until I got back into the fandom, however, because when I was originally into Undertale, I only really focused on the main game, and hardly cared about any of the other AUs, and mostly just knew Outertale, Underfell and Underswap.

Oh!!! And Aftertale!! I first read it when I first got back into this fandom, and it made me cry!!!! A lot!!! I love it so much 🥺🥺🥺 I even own the physical copies of it!! Geno holds such a special place in my heart bro. I should draw him.

Family trees

I know I posted a couple family trees before for Famine and Conquest, but I thought I'd remake those on an actual site that was designed for that kinda thing (as opposed to using the notepad app on my phone)

Then while I was at it, I figured I'd make some trees for the others too. Just,, y'know, because why not

I know the pink and blue are supposed to be there to show gender, but eh. Yeah, I used them for that, but I also could've made the squares white, too. Which,, I forgot to do, but hey. Might as well leave it as it is

Those are under the cut, along with some explanations for anyone who might have difficulty understanding them at all (which, it's totally ok if you do, so no worries ^^ I had some difficulties with it for a little bit at first too)

*Grey text means that the person has either died or changed somehow

*Solid black text means they're alive

Famine:

The Gaster of his AU was once married to another skeleton named Arial. The pair had two sons, Sans and Papyrus. Arial died in the war against humans, and Gaster eventually remarried, this time to a human named Lila. He and Lila had a son, Tobias, who was a half brother to the other two boys. Gaster eventually died by falling into the core, and Lila was killed and eaten by starving monsters. Years passed, and Sans attempted to kill Tobias. To his knowledge, his younger brother died. A genocide run happened after a while, and that was when both Sans and Papyrus died. Sans was recruited into the group of riders and he became Famine. A while passed, and long after his relationship with Retribution got better, the two started dating

Retribution and Conquest:

He began as Nightmare, while she began as Dream. Together they were born from the tree of feelings. The tree was eventually torn down, and Dream died in an accident. Due to the loss of his brother, Nightmare abandoned his current identity and became Retribution. A while passed and he entered into a serious relationship with Famine. Dream was reincarnated, now a female skeleton named Chimera

Chimera entered into a relationship with Death, and she eventually became pregnant with their son, Mortem. During childbirth, Chimera passed away. Once her soul stabilized and she was recruited into the group of riders, she became Conquest, and she returned to not only her usual job, but also to being the mother she felt Mortem needed. Their relationship began to crumble and fall apart at some point when Mortem was still a baby/toddler, with Death explaining that he'd fallen out of love with her and wanted to move on to find a new partner - which ended up being Geno/Error

*Death was with Geno when he became merged with an alternate Error, and although it took time, the relationship became poly, with both glitches in romantic relationships with Death. Mortem would've been born at some point before War even officially met Death or Geno, back when she was Mal

Chimera (Conquest) and Kali:

Chimera was Dream's first reincarnation. She was born into a normal family, where she had an older sister named Calypso. Their parents were both lost in the war against humans, and through some turn of events, the two sisters were separated. Chimera was adopted by her AUs version of Grillby, who was also left to raise his niece, Glo. When Chimera grew up and died, she became Conquest, but because of the turn her own fate had turned, Calypso abandoned her old identity and became Kali

War:

She began as Mal, the happy little accident child of Error and Necro (produced from their magic after they'd fought, similar to how PJ was born). Necro had adopted a toddler Papyrus from a dying AU and decided to call him Lucky. Mal and Lucky took to each other and were very close, like siblings. Necro was in a serious relationship with Zerif, and Zerif was created by Life. Because Life wasn't sure how to go about taking care of him though, she gave him to Death to raise, and with Geno's help, they raised him together. Mal eventually died in a fight against Error and/or Nightmare, and when she was recruited into the group of riders, she became War. She met her soulmate, Pestilence, and the two entered into a serious relationship after a while. After they'd been together for only god knows how long, they had a daughter, Althea

*Althea hasn't even been thought of yet (as of this moment). She more than likely won't be happening until some point in their future

Death and War's situation (+ Geno/Error):

Death had left his relationship with Conquest by now, though they still worked together to raise their son, Mortem. Because Mal, War's previous incarnation, had practically grown up with Death and was very familiar with him, the two almost acted like family. When she was recruited into the group of riders and first became War, she needed to stay with Death in his home AU while she adjusted to her new aura and fluctuating magic. Through their time together, he started to think of her as his daughter. War had also begun to see him as a father figure of sorts, but she probably would've rather died than admit that. At this point in time, Death had been in his relationship with Geno/Error for quite a while. War knew about his relationship with Geno, but not his relationship with Error. This wouldn't have been the same Error that killed her - this one was an alternate who was stuck sharing a body with Geno

The Error that killed her had two brothers - Geno and Fresh. That Geno had gotten into a quarrel with an alternate version of Error a while ago in his past, and through some accident or series of events, their codes got messed up and ended up merging. It took a while for them to adjust, but eventually, they were willing to put their differences aside and work together to coexist as peacefully as possible. Geno, although he was now sharing a body with an alternate version of one of his brothers, was still Mal (and War's) biological uncle. That being said, Fresh was still her biological uncle, too

Pestilence (since he was a Sans at one point) had a brother (Papyrus) and a father (Gaster), both from his home AU, which was eventually destroyed. Aside from his dead brother and dead dad, he had no other family. That being said, he had no biological or familial ties to anyone in the group of riders. That's partially why I didn't make a family tree for him, with the other reason for me not doing so was also because it wouldn't really have been anything notable? Just a standard Gaster with two sons kinda thing, where all three of them die

And then Abrael (Mishap) doesn't get a family tree either because she has no known family (that I've come up with yet), and because like Pest, she has no biological or familial ties to anyone in the group

Then for any clarification, if it wasn't obvious or stated already: Famine comes from an AU similar to Horrortale, Death comes from Reapertale (or a close variant of it), Pestilence was a version of Sci from some unnamed AU, War was an outcode, Retribution comes from some variant of Dreamtale (as did Dream), Chimera/Conquest came from another unnamed AU, and Abrael came from the standard human world (back during the golden age of pirates, most likely)

Hi! So that last anon was really rude and should go away! And I completely understand your mask stance. The Delta variant is the reason Nova Scotia had been in lockdown in spring. But we did our part, got it under control. NS has been lifting restrictions very carefully, and we no longer are required to wear masks outdoors. We still have to maintain a 6 foot distance, so I'll give you that for those photos.

My thing is my last two jobs have been dealing with Covid. This Delta variant is terrifying. We thought we had it bad last year but that variant wasn't this contagious.

Please please please put on a mask. It's all I ask. I'm not saying I don't want to see Sidney. I love him. I just want to see him with a mask on.

I think it was discovering Aftertale that had me hooked. I fell in LOVE with Geno (Ink is still my top fav. though), and grew to understand him and how those would affect him. I... really think it was the dubbed version on youtube that I found (link below) and I dug around for more stuff with them, eventually learning about Error and Fresh (Oh my god, Fresh, I had to DIG to discover the difference between the host and the parasite, then found the CQAU bit and wow that's a whole rabbit hole lol)

I became obsessed with Undertale and the AUs at a... desperately low point in my life? Lots and lots of personal/family shit was happening, and the relatable characters and variants and the AU stories were so needed. I began looking up more Geno fanart, which lead to the shipping art with Reaper which lead to my discovery of Reapertale, and eventually taking a chance with fanfics. I was super weary because I hadn't ever read fanfics of things before and never considered writing one, but I was so driven my others that... gods I just really wanted to be part of the community and support Toby Fox.

And finding the original Aftertale comics just- WOW I was super excited!! So now I could read them or listen to them, and I often had them in my headphones while I did school work. Aftertale and the Christmas AU, of course (speaking of, I believe there's still the one 'season' of it?)

Anyway, yeah! Nonstop listens to the Aftertale comic dub and the Christmas AU, discovery of A Glimpse Into Forever and 1E99 by the wonderful @jellyfish-swims-through-gold, and TONS of gorgeous fanart of Reaper and Geno.

Also also... come on.... the dynamic between "cannot die even with mortal injury" and "kills by touch" is SO fun!! It was a cool near-parallel (?) to Ink, supporter if Creators, and Error the destroyer!

Ghost Installation Instructions

What is an ukagaka ghost? A ghost is a character who lives on your desktop and talks to you, and has various levels of interactivity. MVSans is effectively an AI, with visual novel aspects involving Papyrus phone calls. He recognizes other ghosts (mostly Undertale ukagaka) and will occasionally comment on them or have a special event. 

Check the Dev Plan for future updates. Make sure to run Network Updates regularly for smaller frequent patches! Dev builds might be a little wonky but you'll be notified upon download what to look out for.

Features:

Many ghost developers are satisfied to give their ghost a shell and some random dialogue and call it a day. That’s not me. MVSans is not designed as a passive ghost, though he has enough dialogue to fill that role if it’s all you want. He’s programmed to learn and have feelings and opinions about you, depending on how you treat him. Once he gets to know you, his demeanor and conversations will change accordingly. He gets very salty when you ruin his knock-knock jokes and will even counter-troll YOU if ya keep it up. In the future he may notice and comment on sudden changes in your behavior. See Player Traits section for details.

MVSans’ dialogue has a robust architecture that modifies even the most common phrases into a slightly different message every time, just like a real person’s conversation. Since multiple AUs are supported, care has been taken to acknowledge the dialect and lexicon differences of each universe. Unlike classic and geno Sans, UF!Sans likes mustard, swearing, and refers to Paps as Boss. The differences run much deeper than these examples, check this dialect comparison:

Clothing:

MVSans currently has three “Clothing” items. A Sansta hat, the Dapperblook hat, and an unlockable tongue. The tongue's an optional piece because not everyone wants their skele to have a tongue. The Dapperblook hat was an April Fools Day exclusive event reward. 

Shells:

Multiverse Sans has 5 AUs and 6 shells supported. You can change shells via his Options Menu or the right-click menu. Multiverse Sans aims to support as many AUs as possibly. View this post for information on shell submission guidelines, and a poll to vote on the next shell's AU.

Hitboxes:

MVSans has 4 hitboxes with 3 types of interactions; Double-clicks, rubbing the pointer, and mousewheel. Double-clicking on a non-hitbox will pull up his Main Menu. 

Head - Stroke his head repeatedly to pet him. * skeles love pets! 

Face - It’s rude to put your fingers in someone’s face holes.  * no booping either, bucko.

Ribs - Tickling is good silly fun, but not too much!  * i need to breathe too, kid.

Bonezone - That’s a private place, ya pervs.  * sorry pal, bonezone’s closed.

Main Menu: 

Open the main menu by double-clicking a non-hitbox zone. The first 1-2 options prompt his standard random dialogue. You can ask for a knock-knock joke, or a thinly veiled threat from the BudTime Generator. Ruining his knock-knock jokes makes him salty!

BudTime Generator  Based on the hilarious “hey there buddy chum pal” meme, Sans will generate a whole randomized paragraph of glorious passive-aggressive threat dialogue for you. There are over 200 variants on “crummy juncture”/”bad time” alone!

Self-Care Advice Having a bad day? Tell Sans what’s on your mind and he’ll try to cheer you up. This feature is courtesy of @huskalis and their Geno Sans ukagaka that I used as the base for MVSans. 

Compliment and Thank Sans  Tell Sans he’s cute, and thank him for all his hard work sitting on your desktop. These functions are courtesy of @characteroulette via their Sans & Papyrus duo ghost, one of my favorite ghosts to this day.

User Config, Sans Options, System Functions  Check status and adjust settings for yourself and Sans. Check email, run updates, and User Reports from Functions. 

User Reports: 

 Once they’re unlocked, you’ll be able to screenshot a set of menus and send them to me to give me information on how people play with MVSans, since I have no idea how most people use him. Getting this information is important for balancing the weight of actions for determining Player Traits!

Player Traits & Sans Mood/Relationship: 

The way you interact with Sans affects your Player Traits, which are stats that describe what Sans thinks of you as a person. You can check your dominant and secondary traits under the User Config menu. Player Traits include: Sweet, Rude, Silly, Naughty. This post has more detailed information on these stats. 

Player Traits:

Sweet - If you treat him nicely (mainly through pets, and confiding your worries in him), he’ll comment about how sweet you are and that you deserve hugs and other kind things. Rude - If you poke him in the eyes, tickle him beyond what he’s comfortable, repeatedly ruin his jokes, and other impolite things, he’ll consider you pretty rude and be equally irritable with you. He’s likely to drop lowkey death threats and other dark humor. Silly - Tickling him and asking for jokes a lot tells him you’re very silly, and since you’re so goofy he’ll share some jokes he saves only for his best audiences. Naughty - If you keep going after the bonezone, or barrage him with pickup lines, he’ll consider you pretty naughty and tell you as such. He’ll tell you dirty jokes you wouldn’t otherwise hear, since your mind is apparently in the gutter already.

Sans’ Feelings Stats

Affection (Sweet) – How much Sans cares for you, on a platonic level. —Against his better judgement, he’s started to care about you.

Enmity (Rude) – How upset Sans is with you, or how much of your shit he’s willing to put up with. Contributes to “Bad Mood.”  —Under other circumstances, this human would be having a Very Bad Time.

Humor (Silly) – How entertained Sans is, affects likelihood of pranks and jokes. Contributes to “Good Mood.” —Is he actually having fun, or is he just humoring you?

Amour (Naughty) – How boldly romantic or lewd Sans may feel toward you. (The nature of his attraction varies by traits and Affection stat)  —Papyrus may be onto something with that “secret datemate” idea. 

Your relationship with Sans determines your progression in unlocking content not specific to Traits such as the Papyrus phone calls. Sans’ mood depends on a number of variables, particularly recent interactions. You can check how he’s feeling under the Sans Options menu. 

Installation: 

If you’ve never used a ghost before, you’ll need software first. I recommend using SSP. Ghost guru @zarla-s​ has a great guide written on installing ghosts, and their Gaster ghost is awesome. I highly recommend downloading it.

@zarla-s is behind PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING UKAGAKA. The core templates, tutorials, and much inspiration is from this talented individual. She created the black Undertale themed balloons that I modified to be proper fonts for Sans & Paps that MVSans uses.  

@gr33nbeen made the original sans ghost, which was based on @zarla-s ghost template. I edited him to have pink slippers and be shirtless. 

My coding started from the Geno Sans ghost by @huskalis which was in turn based on @gr33nbeen Sans ghost. Geno Sans is from @loverofpiggies‘s AfterTale comics. 

I swiped some dialogue (with permission) from @characteroulette‘s Sans & Papyrus duo, which is the Sans of @gr33nbeen and the Papyrus of @cuddlyhawk. It’s @characteroulette‘s fault that MVSans exists because I loved these guys so much I had to make a balloon to give both of them their appropriate font, and then I decided to make my own lil ghostie after having so much fun digging in the code.

The importance of positive reinforcement

This is a little “joint project” between me, @jenny-opm, @dechanique and also @bloodsbane!

This all started with me posting the following prompt at the OPM Discord server:

Concept: King obviously has a large collection of anime figurines and stuff we do not even need to discuss this. And let’s say there’s an equivalent of Nendoroids/Good Smile Company in the OPM universe who produces merch for different categories, so that probably includes heroes, too.

Genos hears about a new Caped Baldy figurine and starts looking around for it, maybe joining a forum to ask/find more info. There is an user in the forum who knows EVERYTHING about these figurines and offers all sorts of insight etc. And then after like, quite a bit of discussing things back and forth both of them go like

“Wait… Genos?”

”King? Is that you?“

…at least they’ll have something to talk about next time King comes over now.

We started brainstorming about this scenario and it uh, grew. Below is a near 2k “summation” of everything we came up with, kind of like a synopsis if you will? (If anyone wants to borrow this concept and turn it into something bigger/a proper fic or watever by all means do, just make sure to give credit where due - and give us links to the results, I’m sure everyone involved would love to see!)

Moral of the story, as summed up by Dech: Genos is the real winner and learned nothing.

King is definitely a moderator in said forum. If Genos ever misbehaves on there king probably gives Saitama a call like;

"Yo your roommate is trying to start an internet fight, get him to stop for me.”

Saitama tells Genos that ”King told me to tell you that if you don’t stop engaging with the trolls you’ll have your star point rewards taken away, whatever that means.”

Genos is visibly upset at this. He counters that King should come talk directly to him (knowing he’s intimidated by him) but the threat backfires when Saitama responds with ”’Kay, I’m telling him you don’t want your points or whatever" and there goes that.

“N-no, Sensei, no! Just… it’s just….”

“What?”

“They said mean things about you and how hard it is to get you to remain on your stand….”

“Is this all about that weird plastic action toy again?!”

It turns out Saitama is a bit weirded out by the idea of an collector’s figure of himself, maybe even by figures of real people in general.

This becomes even more evident when they’re walking past a display in a store one day (including at least three different designs of Demon Cyborg) and Sai just… gives them a Look

“Why are there three versions of you, though” Saitama asks.

“Well, I believe Amai Mask has at least 7 variants, Sensei, since he has been a hero for much longer than us…

”…Why would anyone need 7 of him?“

(the answer is that they make a new figure every time he gets a new haircut)

The fortunate side effect of Genos being away and busy explaining action figures to Saitama is that it gives King the opportunity to get the forum situation back under control - it’s a lot easier now that a main participant is away from the screen.

On top of that, to Genos’ dismay, by the time they return home, the forum thread has been locked. However, he has an idea and whips out his phone, texting King with simply “Why did you do that?”. When he receives the message, poor King just about throws his phone across the room.

Later, it is Saitama’s turn to receive a text message.

"Saitama, dude, you gotta stop him or we’ll have to ban him and I’m terrified of what he’ll do to me, he knows where I live!”

Poor King - all he wants is to keep the forum a safe and healthy environment for everyone….

One day King comes over to play video games with Saitama and at one point King’s phone beeps. He notices that there is a situation and thinks to himself that this has to be straightened out, a mod is needed here….

Of course, Genos remembers when King cheated him out of a glorious internet discussion victory and just starts staring at King, eyes narrowed, not even blinking.

Poor King doesn’t deserve this, all he wanted to do in his beloved forum was talk about anime waifus with his fellow otakus… It’s like a battle between Genos’ whirring core and the King engine thundering in the small apartment.

Saitama notices that something is up and tries to diffuse the situation, asking if Genos can go get the chips. Predictably, Genos does an immediate 180 and brightly asks whether Sensei wanted this one or this one..? He gets the bag of chips…

…And then goes RIGHT back to glaring at King. The relief was only temporary…

King desperately tries to come up with a solution to all of this. Maybe he can give Genos star points for every day he stays out of trouble..? But that’s not fair to other users… But this is a life or death situation, he needs to come up with SOMETHING..

Desperately, he begs Saitama to give Genos a good behaviour sticker book.

Saitama is uncertain.

“I dunno man…”

“Listen! I’ll buy you a book and deliver it here! Just… please… for me?!” King puts on his best puppy eyes.

“He listens to you!”

“I’ll subscribe to a monthly sticker service and send them all to you!”

King is desperate - but then again, he’s pretty sure it’s his life on the line.

A month later:

"Hey Genos! Look, this month’s theme is Gudetama!”

“!!!”

To King’s relief, the new system works and Saitama realizes he can also use the stickers for other situations… like not threatening strangers on the street or not losing parts during fights.

“You came back in one piece! Wow, awesome, here’s a sticker!”

A little positive reinforcement goes a long way!    

Other uses includes finding the BEST sale - Genos is so proud of that one that his sticker album just happens to lay open on the table when Mumen comes over for a visit one day.   

Mumen notices, of course.

“Oh, these are very nice! Are they a project for the neighbourhood children?”

“They’re… a project for one local kid…”

“All these stickers for one kid! This kid must be very good”

Genos looks so proud.

Saitama wants to say “he needs a lot of reinforcements” but he catches the look on Genos’ face and just can’t say it. Instead, all he says is “yeah” and Genos is so happy for the confirmation - and is on his best behaviour all day, bringing Mumen tea and crackers with a happy little smile - as well as going rather overboard.

“What temperature do you prefer your tea at, Mumen-san?”

Mumen is rather confused…

It turns out Happy Genos is almost as overbearing as Pissy Genos - just in a different way.

Thanks to being so good while Mumen visits, Genos earns himself two new stickers.

(This is all very unfair - King introduces the stickers yet it’s Mumen Genos is grateful towards. Well, life isn’t fair, King knows this. But it still hurts…)

On days when Genos is especially good he can pick which stickers he wants. He always picks the yellow ones.

When he fills a page in his book he can have a small reward. When he fills a whole book he can have a big reward!

It’s hard to think of good rewards, though.

”I dunno what to even suggest as a reward, d’ya have any ideas, Genos?”

”YES.”

Genos reaches into his pocket, puts on lip balm and closes his eyes, making the perfect kissy face.   

”What, a new chapstick?”

One day, Saitama unexpectedly runs out of stickers. Genos looks so sad about it that Saitama panics and instead gave his reward in the form of a really quick kiss on the cheek.   

And that’s the start of it - stickers will never be enough now.

Saitama tries to reason with himself - it IS cheaper than buying new stickers all the time, it’ll save money… right?   

A call to King.

“Yeah, you don’t need to send me any more stickers.”

From here on, all they need to do is draw hearts in the book to keep track.

King can’t believe how well behaved Genos is next time they meet.

When he finally comes over he finally realizes why he didn’t need to send any more stickers.

“Well… I guess… that works…” he mutters as he continues kicking Saitama’s ass at Street Fighter - not hearing a disgruntled “hmph” in the background every time he wins a match is a welcome change.

“More tea, King-san?”

Before he has even closed the door behind him as he leaves the apartment, he hears Genos calling to Saitama in the other room.

“I want to cash in my reward now!”

Give a mouse a cookie…

Over time, Genos becomes more and more insistent about his rewards.

“Sensei, there was variations among the stickers. It is only fair to also have variations among the kisses.”

He’s steaming out of his shoulders as he advances on Saitama and Saitama knows immediately that the end of his supposed heterosexuality is impending.

To his surprise, he is saved(?) by none other than Speed of Sound Sonic.

To Genos’ credit, he tries to stay calm around Panic (”Oy, worthless, poorly named sorry excuse for a ninja… do you want tea?” “What?!”). But unfortunately the sticker street is one-way - Sonic has no incentive to be nice.

The fight is inevitable.

”You cost me a kiss!”

”For fecks sake what’s wrong with you today tin can?!”

Afterwards, Saitama can tell that Genos is upset so he strikes a deal. He won’t lose any of his points, but he won’t gain any new ones either.

”You didn’t immediately attack him but you did call him a shitty excuse for a shitty shithead… so let’s call it even…”

”Hey Genos! If you get every sale item on this list you’ll have your choice of a smooch or two stickers!”

“!!!”

We know what he will choose. Having said that, he might try to barter - ”Maybe a quick smooch and one sticker?” - because stickers can be traded in for longer kisses later.

Getting more and more courageous, Genos starts demanding his rewards in public too. He has never been so excited to tag along to thrift stores to find “new” clothes before.

“Wow, what an awesome deal! You did so good Genos. This is definitely worth a big reward.” Genos moves closer, crowding Saitama, face dark and shoulders steaming.

“I would like that reward now, Sensei.”

Saitama sweats, takes a half step back. "R-right now??”

He steps closer, “Yes.I found Sensei the - shudders slightly - cheap used crocs, it is only fair.”

The first time Genos gets a public reward happens when they accidentally forgot the sticker book at home - after that, Genos “forgetting” them at home becomes a very common occurrence.

King has no idea what he has started. The day media explodes with the picture of Demon Cyborg and Caped Baldy kissing in public - Saitama texts King saying “I blame you” and King is so confused - but at least Genos is too busy to bother him or anyone else in the forum any more.

All in all, a happy ending for everyone.
