How I ended up totally loving Kpop
I was first introduced to the world of Kpop in 2010 through a friend of mine who was a big fan of BIGBANG. I was forced to listened to a couple of their songs in the car one day. Haha. I ended up falling in love with the beat and the rapping. GD and TOP are my biases in BIGBANG to be completely honest. I even bought their album **grin**. I never knew I loved rap until I heard “Haru Haru” for the first time. BIGBANG was the first male Kpop group that I enjoyed listening to, for a short time at least. Next was 2NE1, a girl group that had Sandara Park who I had already known about because she was a celebrity in the Philippines. Sadly, I had been going through a lot of personal issues at the time and my love of Kpop lasted only several months to probably a year because I felt I could not relate to a lot of the songs at the time. I got back into Kpop briefly when I was exposed to ToppDogg but it only lasted for a couple of months too.
I first heard of BTS after I saw an online news article about them winning at the Billboard Music Awards. A first for a Kpop group. I saw the article then thought nothing of it. I just continued on with life until I kept seeing more videos and articles of them online. Finally, after constantly seeing them on my Youtube recommended list, I decided to watch my first BTS MV. The day I clicked on the MIC DROP Steve Aoki remix was a day that I won’t ever regret or forget. The video as a whole was amazing. I was hooked on J-Hope’s rapping style and sharp dance moves, V and Jin’s visuals and vocals (*** V in a bandana *faints* ***), Jimin’s aggressive and smooth dancing, Suga’s fast rap and smirk (***good god that smirk***), RM’s powerful aura and rap style, and Jungkook’s everything (***LMAO seriously the vocals, dance, and visual on this kid is no joke ***). I didn’t understand a single word of the Korean portions of the song but the singing and beat of the song got me so excited to just jump up and dance and sing with them. LOL. Since Mic Drop I have searched the entirety of YouTube for more BTS videos or clips. I lost sleep of over these boys haha. The more I read up on them and watched their videos, the more I fell in love with the band. They are just a wonderful group to stan.
I can go on and on about what makes BTS so wonderful but I’ll probably do another post on it. Haha. Through BTS’ RUN videos and appearances on a few variety shows, I was exposed to other Kpop groups. One group in particular reminds me a lot of BTS but female versions of them. If you don’t already know then its Red Velvet. Surprisingly its not Red Velvet’s music style or, like BTS with other boy groups, their uniqueness from other girl groups that remind me of the boys. It is the feeling of closeness between members and the great chemistry the girls have with each other that reminds me of the boys. BTS is known for a lot of things but what truly opened my heart to them was how they all acted like family and took care of one another. Red Velvet gives me that same feeling. Also both groups can be absolutely hilarious on their own variety shows. LMAO.  I fell in love with Red Velvet for the very same reasons that I fell in love with BTS and through both groups I am slowly becoming aware of other Kpop groups like EXO, WannaOne, Astro, Twice, Blackpink, iKon, etc. I realized then that there is a whole new world of music that I can immerse myself in and I am truly excited to continue with my exploration.

what photo cards do you have
So I’m not like a skilled collector like many people, I just kinda buy the ones that catch my eye cause I like them (or they came with the album I bought!)
So I’ll break it down by groups and stuff
TOPPDOGG: My goal is to have the whole THE BEAT set, but with vidcon next month, and my student loans, I have to put a hold on cards for a few months. But I do have, A-Tom’s THE BEAT CARD and 1 of the group poses (which came with the Beat Album), and then when I got First Street I got Xero’s card!
GIRL’S GENERATION: Right now I just have Sunny’s card from their second mini album (which was an included card with a different pc purchase, I screamed when I saw it)!
EXO: I have Xiumin which was also included in a pc purchase, but it’s cool he seems chill. I’m still trying to get into EXO.
GOT7: because ofc you know I have pc’s of my favs
so for GOT7 I have Mark’s promise card from Flight Log: Arrival (i won it on accident so it’s my fav lol), I have BamBam and Mark’s “Just Right” cards (with Youngjae, JB, Yugyeom, and Jackson’s on the way. Still can’t find Jinyoung’s ): ) Idk if you’d count it cause it’s an actual post card, but I have JB’s NBA card and I’m looking into getting the rest of those as well lol .
BTS: So I got a wonderful set of the Chicago Wings Tour cards from a super sweet girl on here, but it’s not letting me tag her how sad. I also have one of them in suits (idk what it’s from, but it was included in the box as an extra when I got the Dubai Package!), I have Yoongi’s epilogue card (it was the first card I ever got!), Jungkook’s “forever young” polaroid too! And my super awesome friend L (i don’t like posting names) made a Yoongi polaroid and sent it to me with the TD albums I bought from her!
besides all of those, I also have TaeYang and Daesung from BigBang sticker sets that came with photocards, a stationary piece of a girl group I’m still not sure of, and the cutest GOT7 sticker sheet that also came with a photocard!!
