I think that all it took for LYX to accept the role of Chu Wanning was letting him know just how much this particular character suffers 😤

hi! feel free to ignore this if you don't want to get into it, I totally understand. but I'm confused why some people are feeling certain i*mmortality (or any bl in fact) won't air anytime soon? of course I've seen some of the unfortunate news lately, but nothing specific about bl has been mentioned right? wouldn't t*gcf not continue filming then? sorry if this is annoying haha I'm just confused 😅 thanks for reading whether or not you answer! 😊
Hey, anon!
I think that it's highly unlikely that HYX will air this year. It very obviously was supposed to air, but things are what they are and all we can do is be sad and disappointed about it now.
With that said, I do think it will air eventually, once things settle down. I believe that the current situation in the c-ent industry is unsustainable in the long run and that it will go back to being (somewhat) normal, but that this initial phase is dangerous, so everybody is laying low. The fact that TGCF is still filming definitely tells me that the people who know way more about the situation than you and I are also expecting things to settle down.
I think that Tencent got the wind of what was coming back in April, which is why HYX was delayed. It is expected that there will be a fandom meltdown when this drama airs. The fandom in China is frankly insane and the few BL fandoms that I've been involved in and have seen up close are easily the most toxic disasters that I have ever encountered (the i-fans are also doing their best to compete with their Chinese counterparts in this respect). Exposing the actors to all that in the midst of a CCP crackdown on toxic fandoms and the entertainment industry in general would be the same as painting a target on their backs.
Tencent sunk a lot of money into HYX and even if they were willing to throw the actors under the bus, they would not risk the drama itself, considering how much profit it is expected to earn them, provided it doesn't get banned. Another thing that makes me hopeful is the fact that this CCP crackdown is not aimed at dangai in particular, but is way more widespread and also political in nature. However, if HYX was to come out and start making waves in the middle of all this, I have no doubt they would not hesitate to make an example of everyone involved. It is simply not safe for the drama to air until the Chinese government is done with whatever they are doing right now.
Please take anything I say with a grain of salt, though, I'm not from China and I am nowhere close to being informed enough about the whole situation to give any kind of intelligent commentary on the subject, but with that said, I personally don't think that things are completely bleak.
Please don't listen to the shit-stirrers (especially on Twitter). There are all kinds of insane people congregating to cause panic and fandom infighting. Some simply thrive on the drama and want to see the world burn. The especially toxic side of the S/HL-only fandom is hurt and vengeful because their own faves got nuked and other BL adaptations are a convenient target to vent their hate, since CCP itself is off limits. Then there are antis of all kinds taking advantage of the situation in a multitude of ways. Also, there are trolls patrolling everywhere, at all hours. And last but not least, there are simply fans who are stressed themselves and are unloading their own existential dread by spreading hysteria.
Let's just wait and see. HYX cost a lot of money to produce and is set to earn back even more. That makes me super hopeful that it will not stay buried for long.

Pain 😭
the thing that's actually sick and twisted, like what actually makes me feel nauseous, is that hyx genuinely cast the perfect ranwan and now we just don't get to see it

Hello, I love Erha Metas. Thank you for doing those. I also follow a few blogs dedicated to the novel. But do you have any thoughts about why TXJ always just appear every after 3 days? Also, I think HYX's making me wait for nothing already. 😂 And, I don't if this is really true enough but it appears to be that they changed the dragon blood pendants into red bead bracelets in the drama?
Hey, anon!! 💜
I adore this book and could talk about it all day, every day!! 😍
Augh, HYX has been such a rollercoaster 😭 All signs indicate that it was supposed to air in April and speculating about what might have gone wrong behind the scenes is just distressing. However, my hope is that they saw how WoH had blown up, and knowing how anticipated HYX is, with a fandom that goes insane at the slightest hint of it breathing, they just could not risk airing it so close to the CCP celebrations and having it explode all over social media when the government wants all the attention elsewhere. It would be too risky, I think, to draw that kind of scrutiny, not just for HYX but for BL in general. I’m just very hopeful that once summer is over and this particular danger dies down, the drama will be able to air safely. But please take everything I say here with a grain of salt, anon, I really don’t know much about the censorship issues in China and everything I have learned about them so far has been from second-hand accounts.
I heard about the bracelets too, but I can’t really say if it is true or not, or if the bracelets will have anything to do with the dragon blood pendants in the book 🙁 Personally, I am a bit disappointed they are not keeping Chu Fei’s red earring! I mean, obviously, they can’t explain what it is, but they wouldn’t have to! All they need to do is have him wear it, and the fandom would know!! 😅
As for TXJ resurfacing every three days, I think this is proportional to how big this wayward soul fragment is. The way the fandom draws a distinction between MZS and TXJ post-canon is easy and compelling and a part of the fun, but it is not entirely accurate. The thing is, all of Mo Ran is TXJ. MZS has never not been TXJ. Both Mo Ran and Chu Wanning have two full souls in their bodies by the end of the book.
The thing is, in the beginning, only 3/4 of (or 2/3? I am never really sure) of 0.5′s soul transmigrated into the parallel timeline. Ironically, the part that was left behind was the part that loved Chu Wanning and would not be parted from the soul fragment that he had left in his body. The reason all of Mo Ran loves Chu Wanning is because the transmigrated part of him fell in love with him all over again (and I suppose the original soul in the parallel universe loved him all along, or at least as much as it could under the influence of the Long Hatred). The point is, the biggest part of TXJ is actually MZS, and the most evil part of him too. The smaller one that remained was all the love - twisted and anguished and disfigured as it was. It was the love that bought this particular soul fragment an additional eight years of suffering and the difference between Mo Ran’s personalities post-canon lies in the diverging life experiences these soul fragments went through.
MZS always had the bigger part of 0.5′s soul, so this is why he has more days with CWN than the TXJ one. However, I do think that over time, the two of them will merge more fully. It will be slow going and imperceptible on a day-to-day basis, but I think it will happen. I don’t think they will ever achieve the seamless merger that CWN managed, but I do think they will eventually share all their memories and be able to experience whatever the other side is going through fully. Mo Ran has a lot of healing to do and I think that this is the way it will manifest itself, like a cut healing over and leaving a scar that slowly fades over time.

Hello, aside from the sexual flashbacks and lovey-dovey parts, what else are the possible things or events we won't be able to watch on Haoyixing basing from the censorships for viewing? This is just to lessen our expectations now before watching it (and for those people new to the novel) , once the drama airs already. thank you so much~
Hey, anon!
Honestly, I feel like we should all lower our expectations for HYX to next to nothing at all and just be happy with whatever we get. We were never going to get a faithful adaptation of this book and any version that we do get is going to be watered down a lot.
Obviously, the BL is going to be cut out completely, not just the sex but also the romance, and we will be lucky to get any hints at all. I don’t think they will be able to get away with what WoH did because HYX is a much more famous IP. It is highly anticipated and it has a lot more eyes on it. Also, a lot of money has been invested in this production and they are not going to be taking any risks here.
Considering that the entire story hinges on the relationship between Chu Wanning and Mo Ran, not being allowed to show the romance is already a huge blow. But other than that, the censorship board objects to having a ‘negative’ main character, which is a problem because Mo Ran is... well, Mo Ran. All his beautiful complexity is going to be nuked into oblivion. Also, the censorship board does not like time travel, reincarnation or transmigration, so that is another can of worms. They also have issues with superstitious elements such as ghosts, spirits, etc. and we all know what a huge role they play in the book. And all that is before we even get to all the violence and gore that is certainly not going to be allowed.
Here is an article explaining all the new rules. The fact is, all of 2ha is on this list in one form or another. The biggest issue with these rules is that they are so broad and vague, nobody really knows where the line is, so bypassing the censorship also becomes a matter of luck (and money). Honestly, the biggest thing HYX has going for it is that it is going to make so much money for everyone involved if it is allowed to air in a way that does not piss off every single BL fan there is.
Personally, I have already made my peace that this is not going to be a faithful adaptation, but I am hoping it will not be an offensive one. I am in it primarily for the visuals. Luo Yunxi and Chen Feiyu are gorgeous and the perfect likeness for Chu Wanning and Mo Ran, so I am very much looking forward to seeing them on screen and having these characters come to life. They also sunk a lot of money into this show, so I am expecting good special effects, beautiful locations and a soundtrack that I can listen to on loop for the next couple of years.
Storywise, I am not expecting much. My plan is to support and enjoy the main cast because they are perfect and adorable, and then use whatever visuals they give us to complete my mental image of this world in my head (and possibly as a reference for fanfic and fanart). Honestly, my biggest hope is that if HYX turns out to be a success and the international fandom explodes, we may eventually get a full English translation of the novel.

Winner is King's gonna air already....
But where's hyx??????????? 😭😭😭😭
Why did tencent do that to Moran and CWN?! and the fans!!!! 😭
Omg, at the end of the day it's all about the money. 🤧💸
The way I understand the situation (I could be wrong because I'm not Chinese and the only thing I know about this comes from second-hand sources) is that it was too close to the CPP celebration to air as intended, especially as there had been negative attention regarding BL dramas from the relevant authorities.
The fact that they decided not to air HYX in April means that the risk was very, very real and that there are bigger things going on here. I feel like it's very naive to claim that this is 'all about the money' for Tencent. They have lost huge endorsements due to this delay, they had everything set to go and then it all fell through. Not only will they not be getting money from them now, they probably also have to pay penalties.
I mean, yes, of course it's 'all about the money' because that's why they made the drama in the first place, but in order to make any money, they need to protect the drama and make sure it airs. From where I'm standing, it looks like Tencent took a big financial hit by being forced to delay. Whatever the issue is behind the scenes, it is a lot bigger than some executive being greedy.
Winner is King being greenlit makes me hopeful because that means that the rumors about a blanket ban on BL are simply not true and that we can also expect HYX to air soon.

Whelp. Looks like HYX is not passing censorship. I guess I'm stupid for being optimistic. It's OK, it's not like we can have good things anyway. It was nice being hopeful while it lasted, though.

Okay, people, once the promo for HYX kicks off, I am unlikely to shut up about it (and LYX and CFY), like... ever! Please block the tag “hyx spam” if you don’t want me flooding your dash with these two incomparably beautiful people 🖤🖤 I have lost my entire damn mind, but I realize that there are still sane and reasonable people following me!! *goes hide*

It's funny that that anon mentioned Love and Redemption since, for me, it had a lot of 2ha parallels and similarities, mostly with the main characters being similar to Moran and Chu Wanning in a lot of ways and in the last episodes, where the vibes of the show completely changed from straight romance with some queer and kinky bdsm vibes to being 100% non subtle BL arc, moreover when I was watching it, i thought it was a 2ha fanfic, I couldn't believe what my eyes where seeing with the hilariously carelessly hidden subtlety of putting the male lead (in sexy red robes) as the Devil King's royal guqin player/personal slave as an euphemism of him being a concubine which is exactly the thing Inmortality will do lmao
The more I hear about this show, the more I like it!! Yes, please, give me all the enslaved royal guqin players!! 😋😋 I WANT!! 🔥🔥🔥

Tencent has already said that immortality is their most high budget show so far, do you think they would seriously throw all that money out if they thought the show would be permanently shut down?! Immortality is going to be aired one way or another, they just have to adjust it in an inconspicuous way!
Thank you for being the voice of reason in these trying times, anon!! I hope you are right! I was super upset about it this morning but I am now back to being cautiously optimistic 🙏🙏
