I have a question: when was Emma ever masculine? She might not have been hyperfeminine like Snow or Belle or Ruby, but jeans and a leather jacket do not make her butch. She has a physically demanding job so pants are practical, but she’s also known to wear sexy dresses like the bodycon from the pilot or her date with Walsh, she’s even in a skirt and heels in Manhattan! That puts her on the level of the average American woman more than anything. She even says in season one about the deputy uniform “You don’t have to dress a woman like a man to give her authority” meaning that she does not see herself as masculine at all and also suggests that she likes her personal style — she’s not hiding. She was showing up every day in a leather jacket but also perfect eyeliner, rosy lips, and pretty princess curls.

To change her style so drastically in order to portray her as more feminine is not only wildly misogynistic because it positions feminine women and masculine women against each other onto a good/bad dichotomy, it implies that there was something wrong with her in season one despite that season being her most heroic, but it also massively restricts femininity into a narrow, more conservative definition.

Emma’s wardrobe changing to be more white and floral after Hook moves in and everyone constantly regarding her masculine style as a “wall” is one of the most blatantly misogynistic tropes I’ve ever witnessed and it is WILD to me that people still can’t see that.

Emma: *dresses masculine for most of her life, only dresses hyper feminine when actively playing a character*

Emma as soon as she gets with H00k: *begins to dress more feminine, regularly wearing flowy blouses and trading in her classic red leather jacket with a red blazer*

when i was hyperfiixated on tlou, i thought it was an admirable pleat to explore the stories and themes of like a hero in one persons story is a villain in another, perspective and humaity yada yada. but when i realized that this was based on neil druckmanns zionism and hate for Palestinians, its an evil story. bc 'there is no good or bad just perspective' is a VERY VERY nuanced statement. like yk genocide and like rape and murder is bad...lets not be stupid...

but its very obvious looking back as abby as an ex-iof soldier, the wlf being the iof...the seraphites being the Palestinians that 'cant share land and breaking treaties' (so dumb), the prisoners of war being tortured, the things abby said about like stupid kids needing to die like omg...and this being based off of what he seen growing up in occupied Palestine (the west bank i think). i think it was especially when he talked about an iof soldier being hung after an iof sodier was reported for murdering kids and how do the seraphite people kill the wif soldiers in the game......by hanging them. just a sick sick man and fuck everyone who has or is working for him that doesnt speak up about Palestine idgaf about no contract.

People like to think hyper fixating on things is like

But for me it’s more like

“this thing is going to occupy all recesses of my mind for weeks or maybe months, and it will make it hard for me to enjoy anything else or to consume other media. I will think about it at all times even when I’m not actively consuming it, sometimes I dream about. Other times I’m so entranced in it I have a hard time differentiating the real world from it. I find it hard to get things done because I want to spend all waking hours consuming or thinking about it. I know so much about it and have to tell people which makes people upset when I spend two hours a day just ranting about it. When I’m finally done hyper fixating on it the thing is a shell of what it used to be to me and I find it hard to enjoy it anymore.”
