A little duck puzzle

Mallards are omnipresent in our parks …

… sometimes there are exotic species among them that are difficult to identify at first glance …

… and then turn out to be runner ducks – a domestic duck.

Warty ducks (or Muscovy ducks) are easier to identify – also a domestic duck.

But what about this beautiful duck? Perhaps a hybrid of mallard and muscovy duck? Maybe.

And all on the same pond!

Birdblr can anyone identify this duck seen today in a park near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England? I'm pretty sure it's a hybrid wigeon, but not sure with what (or even which wigeon)?

Voice is a very wigeon-ish "whee-oo!"

It's been seen in company with mallards, with tufted ducks, and alone.

yandere! duck hybrid who's in love with his pretty little cow hybrid (you) ☹️☹️☹️ he's smaller than you and just oh so adorable! round glittery eyes full of nothing but love and adoration for you.

he knows it's uncommon. i mean, a cow and a duck? who could ever expect this? he doesn't care though. so what if you're of a different species and bigger than him? he loves the size difference! you also make for the best pillow with how soft and cuddly you are!

friends..? oh... right, you don't like him that way. and he's pretty sure you're oblivious to his affections too. whatever. it doesn't matter! as long as you two can be together forever! friends or mates!

lately though, he's been getting more... agressive towards others. to you he's the same as ever, just more... touchy? no, you think he's taken some drugs. you're sure of it. you think you've heard him mention something about mating or heats but you're not really sure. must not be related to him at all.

but yeah! he's getting all weird and stuff! like just imagine your confusion when this ducky friend of yours starts waddling around you, bobbing his head up and down, dressed in colourful feathers while dancing. what's this? is he okay? genuinely?

he won't even explain anything too! just stare at you with that usual lovesick expression and pout his lips when you merely smile at him and go back to eating your grass.

that's why he takes out his anger on others. ugh, if you won't accept his courting he'll just have to prevent others from courting you. what? he has sharp nails for a reason 😒

for now... he guesses he'll just wait until you understand that he's trying to court you- huh? just tell you that he wants you as his mate? no way! that's too straight forward! besides, what if you reject him? he won't be able to survive that y'know.

... don't judge him! he's just a duck ☹️

Duck!Hybrid is a pathetic divorcee who spends all his money on bread loaves. He swears up and down he is no longer addicted to bread, but you find half-eaten slices clumsily swept under his bed whenever you visit.

He's left the police for greener pastures, yet his detective firm hasn't really taken off. Recently, he received a call to investigate a lunch theft at a call center. He served you a slice of buttered toast - just this one time, to celebrate - telling you how important this could be for his success. Then, he promptly asked if you could pay for his bus fare.

Now, you won't deny his innate skill of deduc(k)tion, or his deep, manly voice that almost convinces you he's a self-sustaining adult. On the other hand...

"Oh, this...? I just couldn't help myself, so I put up a pin board from our last date in the tulip fields. It's my favorite memory of us."

You sigh.

Imagine being a supporting parent with a mother hen (Chicken) and mother duck hybrid. Just taking care of all of the baby chicks and ducks. Sometimes the children will play tricks and go with different mothers and you guys will be confused on why the hen has 2 duck kids and the duck will have 3 chicks. Teaching the baby ducks to swim and the chicks tug on your clothes as they all run around wanting to play hide and seek or tag. You, the hen, and the duck hybrid all have little picnics when the children are playing together. Ya'll will chat and catch up on how life has been treating you while keeping an watchful eye on the kids.

Idk I just felt very motherly vibes wash upon me.
