This is why his wife should never leave him alone with the kids...let alone their nieces and nephews to boot.

He’s currently outnumbered four to one. Their own two children, Neij’s son, and Itachi’s youngest daughter. The two Hyūga are attending a clan meeting, Tenten at work, and both his brother and sister-in-law absent for a diplomacy mission. Which means he’s been left with the task of babysitting.

Because gods know no one trusts Shisui to do it.

It starts innocently enough. He’s sat them all in front of the television with a movie - one of many Hinata left for him to bolster his arsenal of options. That lasts for all of twenty minutes before Itachi’s daughter - Reika, always a ridiculously-energetic little thing - declares herself bored. Which means her tag-along, Hinode (thankfully far more like his mother Tenten than his father Neji) follows.

His own pair remain seated, so Sasuke takes the risk of dividing his attention with a shadow clone to watch them, as his real body keeps an eye on the troublemakers.

“Can we give you a makeover?”

“...a what now?”

“Tōchan lets me do it!” Eyeing her uncle critically, she adds, “...but his hair is prettier than yours. It’s so looong!”

Sasuke just blinks blankly. They want to mess with his hair…?

“Got any ribbons, jichan?”

“...you want to put ribbons in my hair…?”

“Mhm! You’ll be super pretty!”

He wants to object to the notion of being pretty in the first place, but...well, maybe it’ll be worth the peace and quiet if they keep themselves busy enough. Sitting cross-legged, he lets them rummage through Hinata’s bag of goodies.

“Ooh, what about this one Hino-kun?”

“I dunno, it’s kinda...boring.”

“Whaaat? It’s got lace! It’s so cute!”

Sasuke’s uncovered dark eye twitches. That clan meeting can’t get over soon enough…

After their fair share of bickering, the pair get to work. Reika takes to humming loudly, dragging a brush rather crudely through her uncle’s hair. Hinode, on the other hand, busies himself (quite carefully, to Sasuke’s surprise) with various types of makeup...starting with a plum lipstick.

When the movie finally loses his own offsprings’ attention, they move into the same room with the clone...and all three give startled pauses. His son blinks wide eyes, daughter looking concerned, and the clone blanching.

...is it really that bad?

As if to answer, the bunshin dissipates, filling him in on all it saw. And...it isn’t pretty. Bright red rouge looks like a clown’s along his cheeks, lips are a deep purple, lone eye ringed in blue like some color-crazy tanuki.

“...are you two done yet?”

“Almost! Your hair needs to get longer, jichan - my braids are too short.”

Sasuke just sighs. He had no idea the gods would be so testing his patience today.

Ten minutes later the pair announce themselves finished. Grimacing as he’s handed a mirror, Sasuke takes in his visage. It hasn’t changed much in the front, but a few turns of his head reveals twin braids, each capped with fancy ribbons at their tails.

“See? See? You look so beautiful!”

“...I sure do,” he deadpans.

Much to his dismay, it’s then he hears the door open.

The four little ones rush to the entryway to greet Neji and Hinata, the latter of which asks where Sasuke is.

“Here.”

They all look over, and Reika immediately pouts. “Heeey! Where’d your makeover go?”

A plain-faced bunshin doesn’t reply. While his pride might survive his wife’s scrutiny...he’ll never live it down if Neji sees him.

“But you looked so good…” Hinode offers sadly as his father scoops him to his hip. Neji perks a brow, but...thankfully doesn’t ask. Instead, he thanks Sasuke for his time watching the boy before retreating.

“Reika, your parents and siblings won’t be back until later,” Hinata reminds the girl.

“That’s okay! We can do Sasu-jichan’s makeup again!”

The Hyūga mother blinks, jolting a bit as the bunshin pops. Through the vapor, from the other room, the real Sasuke walks back in.

Hinata openly gapes for a long moment, eyes flickering all over her husband’s face, disbelief clear on your own. “...what…?”

“Hinode and Reika wanted to give me a do-over.”

“Makeover!” his niece corrects him.

“...right.”

Lips drawing between her teeth as not to laugh, Hinata urges the three remaining children along. “...why don’t you all go wash up, and then we’ll make dinner, hm?”

They scamper off to do as they’re told, and Hinata closes the distance to Sasuke to get a better view. “...well, that’s certainly...a look,” is her offer, eyes glittering mischievously.

“Whatever you do, don’t tell anyone about this.”

“Oh, I won’t...but I can’t promise anything about your niece and nephew. Come on - I’ll help you get it off.”

Makeup, Sasuke soon learns, isn’t as easy to rid oneself of as something like dirt or blood. No, this takes a special soap, and plenty of scrubbing.

“I should have taken a picture first.”

“You would have forced me to break the camera.”

“You’re no fun.”

“Neither is bring drawn on, or having your hair yanked, by a couple of five-year-olds.”

“Well, no one died...unless you count your pride as a casualty. So, a pretty successful day, in my eyes.”

“Next time, you stay here, and I’ll go to the Hyūga clan meeting.”

“Not sure that would work.” Admiring his braids, Hinata can’t help but note,” Reika's getting very good at this. And what pretty ribbons!”

“Hn…”

     Late, and honestly not that great...I'm so super sick I can barely type, BUT. Darn it, I'm not missing a day if I can help it OTL      A wee bit o' fluff with dad / uncle Sasuke, courtesy of his own kids, and a few nieces and nephews. Sorry Sasuke, I just like messing with you too much. And I couldn't think of anything else for the prompt, ahaha!      Anyway...I haven't slept in four nights, I'm exhausted, so...I'm gonna go give sleeping another try.      *’d muses are going to be put on an “archive” sideblog...because I’ve put a lot of work into those OCs, and they still play major roles in A Light Amongst Shadows, which is (and always will be) the main verse for @hyuuchiha. The only muses I’ll be leaving on that blog are Sasuke, Hinata, and their kids Tenkai and Chikyū. They will also retain their connections to the muses on @kusunokihime because that’s how ALAS works. The above-listed muses (and more beyond that) are still vital characters in the ALAS verse, and will likely still be mentioned or played in the background in ALAS-verse threads on either blog. So they’re not COMPLETELY gone, but I just...need to trim things up. 

     I’ve also got a map that lists out many of the main characters and their connections (but not all). I might expand on it later (and the text is still a WIP), but it does help elaborate on how the verse fits everyone together!

     I’m hoping condensing my muse pool will help me from feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. Those I’m keeping are my strongest muses, and it just makes more sense to me to focus on that. Maybe someday I’ll have time and inspo again to work on the ALAS fic, but for now I want to try to focus more on RP, and drabbles inspired by RP. I may also do guest days to bring a muse from the cut lists back every so often, but I want to pace myself in regards to muses.

     To anyone who will miss the cut muses, or only followed because of them: I’m sorry, but I gotta do what I gotta do. And if you doing the same means unfollowing, no hard feelings. If the muse(s) you followed either blog for are going to be cut, then that’s just how it is, and either way, thanks for being around while you were! This does mean that any threads or asks with those muses will, unfortunately, have to be dropped.

     That said, it’s gonna take me a while to actually clear the pages I need to clear from both blogs, and move things around, so uh...just bear that in mind. Either way, thanks everybody for your patience while I try to clean things up. Hopefully this’ll lead to me being more productive, and we can have more fun RPing! ]

Arriving to his first day of Academy class a little early, Hinode finds he’s still not the first. A few other kids mill about, one of them a girl with curly brown hair he’s never seen before. “Heya!” he greets unabashedly with a grin. “I’m Hinode! Hyūga Hinode - what’s your name?” (for Moriko :3)

Moriko jumped a little, a small flush of pink coloring her cheeks. She smiled shyly at the enthusiastic boy and fidgeted with her hair. Her eyes were a strange mix of pink and blue.

“My name is Moriko Kita” She said softly

Sparring with his father in one of the Hyūga clan courtyards, Hinode eventually flops over on his back with a tired sigh just as Hinata happens to stumble across them. Apparently he’s had his fill of training this morning. “Ohayooo, aunty ‘nata,” he greets as Neji just shakes his head, a little hand manage to lift and wave.

“Hello Hinode~, Hi Neji Nii-san” Hinata mused

It made her laugh a little to see her nephew, she recognized the position all too well.

“Is Neji Nii-san trying to train you to death again Hinode?” She asked with a laugh

She could feel Neji’s glare on her, but that only made her laugh more.

     Perking up as an adult finally takes a cookie, Higure gives a beaming smile. With that, she’s finally emptied her basket.

     There’s a few moments where she stares expectantly, waiting for him to give it a try and (hopefully) a positive verdict. But apparently he wants to introduce himself first. Naruto, he says? Is that the one Neji-tōsan mentions sometimes...?

     Ah, she should introduce herself back, right? So many things still to learn. Hitching her basket further up her arm, she frees both hands enough to sign, “Higure. Hyūga. Neji is my father-not-father. Tenten my mother-not-mother. And little brother Hinode! You look like sunshine too, Naruto sir. Like the cookie.”

BIOGRAPHY

Born five years after the end of the war, Reika was part of the golden generation, those born in the new era of peace. Spoiled as the only child and raised among the children of the world’s heroes, her childhood was far less stressful than that of her mother.

Taking after Ryū to a T, Reika inherited all of her powers and appearance. Even so, she attended the Academy, a bright young student who got along with just about everyone. Social and excitable, she was a teacher’s favorite, being put on a team at graduation with Uzumaki Kei and Hyūga Hinode, Neji’s son.

However, the team was a bit…awkward to start. Hinode, not quite his father’s prodigy, was a late bloomer alongside Kei. And Reika, spoiled and a bit untested, was quickly put in her place by their sensei. Coordination between the three was slow to start, and they failed their chūnin exams the first year.

Taking time to herself, Reika decided to work alongside her mother in the hospital for a time, trying to focus more on her medical ninjutsu than taijutsu. It was during this time period that she also was taken to Kusunokizan to begin (or at least attempt) sage training like Ryū. Struggling a bit to start, the lessons she learned in the valley helped her overcome her faults, which in turn let her grow as an individual.

With some maturity under her belt, Reika went back to her team, completing their exams, and went on to help her mother with a specialty training section of the Academy to train upcoming medics.

PERSONALITY

Named after her maternal grandmother, Reika is energetic and bright. Always ready with a smile and a kind word, she is polite, but can forget her manners in her rush. She can have trouble focusing, but is only utterly serious when attending to someone wounded – be it a teammate in the field or a patient in the hospital. Notoriously stubborn, she babies her teammates terribly, as well as anyone in her family that may end up injured.

APPEARANCE

Reika takes after mostly her mother in regards to appearance. Her hair is white (including brows and lashes), and her eyes are grey. Unlike her mother, her hair is totally straight, worn in dual side pigtails for most of her life (with red ribbons). She has a fair skin tone and lithe body type, reaching an A chest size by adulthood, and a height of 5'2” (1,58 m). Her outfits are widely varied in style, but are always in red and white with mesh under armor over her lower arms and upper legs. She wears one leg pack on her right leg with medical supplies.

TECHNIQUES

In regards to abilities, Reika inherited only her mother’s affinity for healing and barrier jutsu, which she grew to be ecstatic about. Though her barriers aren’t the strongest, her healing prowess rivals her mother’s at an early age. Light on her feet and remarkable flexible, she dances around opponents and uses her shields to corral them to make her teammate’s jobs easier. As of yet, she has one summoning contract: a white weasel named Junsui.

What are mun’s ships for their muses?

     [ A good question, nonny! In truth I don’t have that many...? A lot of the charries I write here I consider either VERY difficult to ship, or have one set ship for them. I’m gonna put this under a cut cuz it’ll probably be long, lol ]

Itachi: So this particular Itachi, by default (as with all the muses here, actually) is from a very long RP before Tumblr with two friends. In that RP, he was paired with the main muse from @kusunokihime! And because of the nature of how that story went (which I call A Light Amongst Shadows, the primary verse here), I don’t have him open to ship with anyone else. T’is just how the narrative works!

Sasuke, by default, I ship with Hinata (typically mine, but also with @historias-multorum in our little blending of verses). I...really don’t see him ever shipping with anyone else simply because of how closed-off I write him? I could talk about it for days but in short, he’s just not really a shippy kinda guy.

Hinata is probably my most openly-shippable canon bean! By default I do write her with my Sasuke, but honestly she’s a very loving girlie, so I can see her opening up to other muses! I actually do love Naru///Hina, but not so much the canon version. I’d love to write out a romance with them from scratch! Otherwise, with her, I don’t have much planned / established beyond with my Sasuke, but she’s very compatible imo!

Shisui is...complicated. I’ve shipped him twice in the past, on a different blog I had: with @wanderingmelodies‘ Rin, and @quiet-kunoichi‘s Kimiko. In all honesty Shisui’s a very charming, flirty guy? But he’s actually really flighty when it comes to actual relationships, and he’s not about hookups. He just likes to tease. In actuality he’s very hard to pin down, mostly because of how I write his time between his “death” and his reappearance post fourth war. He’s got some unpacking to do. So while he might flirt with a muse, it wouldn’t be easy to actually ship with him. Otherwise, I don’t have anything set up! And I’m not sure if either of those ships are ongoing with the new blog~

Neji I by default ship with Tenten - I have another muse who is his biological child with her, and another they adopt! Given how prim and proper he is (very...old-school. Kinda conservative?), it’d take some work to get with him in an AU. He’s haughty and proud. Proving themselves to him for another muse would be hard, but...not ENTIRELY impossible?

Hanabi I don’t really ship. I think Kono///Hana is cute, but I’ve never actually written it. I don’t have her paired with anyone in the ALAS fic as of yet! She’s a bit like Shisui: a little precocious, but also conscious of her role as Hyūga heiress.

Tenkai (my older Sasu///Hina babb) I pseudo-ship with Akane on my other blog, who is a Naru///Saku daughter! I say pseudo cuz...they only get up to 14 in the fic, so...not really the age to fully date, imo lol. I haven’t gotten to write him much, so I’m not fully sure how well he’d open up to other ships? But we could try!

Chikyū (the younger Sasu///Hina babb) is...a strange bean. I don’t ship her with anyone, and...I’m not sure how she’d react to shipping lol (tho again, since they stay minors, it wouldn’t be anything hot and heavy unless written at a point in their timeline where they are adults). But again, I haven’t written her much, so we’d have to just see!

Higure (Neji’s adopted pseudo-clone...see her bio for details cuz it’s a long story lol) I pair with Fugaku II on the main blog. I’ve...never really considered shipping her! But she might give it a try. They’d have to be very patient though, she’s a fragile bean.

Hinode is the Neji///Ten bean, and by default he’s with Reika II on the main blog. But he’s a good kiddo, he’d probably get along with someone else all right! Keyword is kid, tho - just fluff unless aged up!

Manami is my OC I made to be both Mikoto’s older sister, and Shisui’s mother! I write her with another OC, Junichi, meant to be Kagami’s son. But she IS originally slated to marry Fugaku, so...that’s something I sorta ship? Otherwise she’s pretty chill, so honestly I’d say she might consider a ship if she got on with someone okay! I also guilty pleasure ship her with Reika on the main blog, but...that’s a major AU lol

Hanako, Hinata and Hanabi’s mother, I really only ship with Hiashi. But I haven’t had any inklings of other ships? Maybe with Mikoto in a random AU, I dunno!

Hotaru, Neji’s mom...I dunno. She’s very staunch in her beliefs, so she’d probably only ever get with another (male) Hyūga. But hey, things happen!

Mikoto’s primary ship is, of course, with Fugaku. But I dream of a modern AU (or maybe even canon >w>) where she and him end up seeing things differently and divorce...and she ends up with Kushina. At first as friends, but then things...y’know...it’d be cute xD LET NART AND SAUCE BE ACTUAL BROTHERS. Otherwise, I’ve never planned or plotted anything with her!

Fugaku is again with Mikoto, maybe Manami. Otherwise...no idea. He’s a bit of a grump, but just...overly serious (as laid out in his bio). I dunno how he’d get on with other muses. We’d have to see!

Obito I don’t really ship. Maybe in an AU with Rin, tho I kinda prefer Kaka///Rin, tbh. I DO sometimes indulge @abyssaldespair‘s anons about OUR ship on THIS blog, but otherwise...I just don’t see him derailing his plan for a romance. It just doesn’t seem viable to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Madara I also don’t really ship? I only write him in a few AUs, and...they’re not too flashy with him. AtLA he has whatever NPC wife to carry on the main Fire Nation family. Pokémon he’s too busy running Team Rocket. DL, he’s kinda lost it. And OMaM...he’s open to brief flings, but not anything solid. He sort of treats partners like...an entertainment. And things get old. Heck he even treats the one ship I have on the other blog like that. So...actual romance? Prooobably not. MAYBE flings in OMaM, but...I’m not that great at writing random smut? So I doubt I’d actually write anything out.

     Anyway...I guess that’s everyone? There’s a lot of...variety in how I perceive each muse and their ability to form relationships. My more “main” muses (those toward the top on the muse page) tend to have very severe mental and emotional trauma. Forming bonds isn’t easy. And I don’t wanna make anyone ooc of how I write them just to ship, y’know? But thank you for asking! I’ve actually meant to make a post about this, so...you get one step ahead of me xD I hope your curiosity’s sated, lil nonny :3 And always feel free to ask anything else you’d like to know!      [ Okay, so...this is probably going to disappoint a lot of people, but I’ve come to a decision about what muses I need to drop to be able to keep running this blog, and my other blogs, without feeling overwhelmed.

    As of now, I’m going to be dropping all seventeen of my canon muses, and several of my OC muses. Dropped OC muse info is going to be archived, because I don’t want it lost...but they can no longer be active muses for my sanity’s sake.

    My current muse roster is 37. That’s bananas. Almost half are canons, so...that just makes the most sense. They’re not MY characters, that I’ve put hours and hours of work into. So they have to be the first I drop. Several OCs with less work and less narrative importance are also being dropped.

    Believe me, I don’t WANT to do this. All the threads, and verses, and ships with these muses (mostly regarding the canons) are things I love. But again, they have to be the first to go just for logic’s sake, and personally too. To all my partners who have written with my canons, in whatever verse...I’m so sorry. But I can’t be sorry for doing what I need to do.

    I may - MAY - make a sideblog down the road for SOME of the canons. We’ll see. At the very least, I’d like to try guest days for asks (but not threads). Maybe AUs and ships can live through that. But it’s just too much for me to handle on top of other hobbies and blogs I want to keep up with.

     Of course, they’re all still part of ALAS (except Mads, he’s AU only), so tbh you’ll probably see muse bleedover between the two blogs: one will likely end up in the background of / referencing the other fairly often. But due to wanting to pull some focus to the muses left here, I split the casts, and will be a bit less active there. You can still send any memes and what have you you want to that blog, I’ll just be a lil slower~
