Not to be rude or invasive or make y'all uncomfortable or anything, but where do y'all sleep? It's just that I know that Lithuania and America have slept in the same bed before.
Tolys: I'm used to sharing a space anyway, so I didn't mind when I moved in! It's convenient for everyone I suppose.
**Historical Note: Alfred has kept this home since the 1840s-1850s, a little before Molly came to the United States again. He did this because of the upheaval at the time near Washington D.C. and the personal convenience of living in New York. If D.C. is America's head, New York City is its heart after all.
There were a variety of architectural styles becoming popular at this time such as Italianate, Neoclassical, Georgian Revival, Beaux-Arts, and Gothic Revival. Many of the large homes built in New York City by the newly wealthy around this period were in the Beaux-Arts and Georgian Revival styles. I picture Alfred's home being in the Georgian Revival style like the Carnegie Mansion or the Willard D. Straight House.
Alfred's home is certainly downsized from the scale of these mansions, but has many of the rooms typical of an upper-class home of the late 19th-early 20th century. These homes were typically three to four floors, with the first floor being for entertaining company and for leisure. The reception room was for receiving guests and leaving calling cards if the homeowner was not available, while the drawing room was for entertaining guests or for the family to relax in. It was also typical for these homes to have a small-scale dining room for less formal family meals such as breakfast and a more formal dining room for entertaining guests in the evening. This smaller scale dining area was also typically where children ate when these evening events were held, and they were usually not permitted at the formal table until they reached their late teens.
Floors for guests to sleep and for the family were often separated, and in many cases the children slept on a separate floor from the adults. In very wealthy homes, there was usually a floor or space reserved for servants' quarters and passages for staff to move around the house in without being seen. In upper-class households, the husband and wife often had separate but connected rooms. This wasn't necessarily out of personal modesty, but more for the modesty of the servants who might be helping them dress. Here, Alfred and Tolys use it more for convenience. In lower-class households, it was still perfectly common and acceptable for a couple to share a room and bed.
There's certainly more that could be said about the layout of these homes, and I based these floor plans off of several historic homes I've visited and floor plans I researched online. Therefore, if there are inaccuracies or if there's anything I overlooked, my apologies!

Iremano Headcanons
Note: Using Nyo!Ireland for this, her name is Brighid (Molly as her middle name). This is also inspired in part by @hetagrammy
Brighid's favorite part of Lovino are his hands. His fingers are long, them and his palms are calloused from work and always covered in something because whether it be writing, cooking, painting, sculpting or whatever fancy has come into his head. She loves watching his hands at work.
Lovino's favorite part of Brighid are her freckles, because they are cute and he could swear they move around and change patterns. Plus, she's covered in them which means he can cheat and say everything about her is his favorite.
Sometimes they slip into Latin around each other and it takes them hours to realize they haven't spoken a word of English or Italian or Irish. On that note, yelling matches in Latin!
Lovino calls her stuff like "cara mia" "bella" "mia amata" "fiore mio" and then you have Molly calling him "mo choinín amaideach" (my silly rabbit) or "mo leannán súl bó" (my cow eyed lover) (Don't worry she breaks out the romantic names to, she just likes making him pout)
I've talked a lot about how dancing plays into their romance. Both of them love dancing and it is very important to them. When they started to fall for each other they ended up teaching them their own dances. As they've fallen more and more for each other the two of them have becoming so comfortable dancing with each other that it's like they have their own dance that only they know.
There's also so much trust between them. They just know that if either one picks them up than they won't drop them and they don't need to speak to know how the dance goes.
They show love in two ways: physical touch and art. These two can barely keep their hands off each other. In a large empty room they somehow end up sitting next to each other with barely an inch between them.
Lovino makes small sculptures for Brighid that he skillfully put together and hand painted, Brighid leaves poems for him to read.
Lovino has spent years painting Brighid. Each time looks better than the last but in his mind it's still not right. The freckles aren't in the right place and the eyes aren't green enough, and he still has yet to really truly capture the way the sun hits her hair or the curve of her neck-it's the perfectionist in him.
Brighid and him both love to sing. Lovino doesn't like to advertise it but Brighid can't stop herself from singing while he works. At home though? If the radio is on then Lovino probably comes up behind her while she is doing the dishes, singing, and she joins in. They love to serenade each other. They both have mostly oldies taste.
They have a big ol' garden that they take care of together. Basically they are an old married couple.
Between the two of them Lovino does the cooking.
#hetalia#hws#aph#hws romano#hws south italy#hws ireland#hws nyo ireland#hws nyo!ireland#iremano#i love both the names brighid and molly for nyo ireland so i use them interchangeably#even if lovino and brighid have been together for two weeks they married forty years energy

Here comes the Immigration Trio! Lithuania, Ireland and Romano will be living under America's roof until they can all get back onto their feet.
Lithuania does most of the administration work, being the sensible leader of a pair of near incompetent co-workers. Ireland does most of the grunt work around the place, a suitable job for a feckin' eegit. Finally, we have the hot tempered main chef Romano, who's gonna make sure that these idiots are fed good food, damn it.
Also? IreMano? IreMano.

Lovino learns the hard way that bringing up your lady love's lower social status and your reservations about it is not the best response to her asking what your ultimate intentions are going to be

Ireland: Another one? Lorenzo, your body is a temple, you need to treat it well.
S. Italy: a temple? My body is a catholic church, amore.
S. Italy: Full of wine, bread, and guilt.

More Borgia AU: In between avoiding whatever responsibilities he has as the assumed heir of the Vargas family, Feliciano is also banging his brother's cardinal coworker. The trouble comes when a papacy vacancy is imminent and Pietro is trying to justify himself while tearing down Lovino for keeping a mistress.
Full credit to @temtamtom for the Vatican design, he is canon to me now
I've also been having fun looking into 1490s-early 1500s clothing in Northern Europe, so here's a random Molly around the time she and Lovino met. Her hairline is showing, so scandalous, oh la la
#hetalia#borgia au#my art#hws veneziano#hws italy#hws ireland#nyo!ireland#hetalia oc#hws vatican#venetican#iremano#early iterations of the french hood were actually considered pretty daring in england#because it allowed married women to show their hair#of course in italy they were a lot more daring than that by the 1490s (much to molly's shock and delight)#but yeah pietro's whole outlook is he's more qualified bc he has a sense of shame and self loathing about his whole thing with feli#while lovino is admittedly pretty shameless about loving molly and their children#feli sees it as fun but when someone starts actively gunning for his brother... well it's a little harder to have a fling then
