Freetown Christiana is a good character to have in Hetalia because then you get to explore the angst of all the older kids Denmark helped raise seeing him with a new kid and being like "Dang, you're telling me this guy is capable of being a good parent now? I'm sure that's not gonna bring up any of my unresolved childhood trauma."

Greenland: If you get in trouble I'm going to be like... a lawyer to you, ok?
Christiania: Okay!
*Later*
Denmark: Benedikte! Sit down on that chair, you're in trouble.
Greenland, whispering: Deny everything.
Christiania, loudly: That isn't a chair.

Not me thinking about how I use the hc that nations can actually have children and it's actually the more common way for personifications to come around (the order goes
Two nation parents
1 nation parent/1 human parent
just appears randomly like in canon
2 human parents (10/10 rare, barely happens)
) but anyway, the whole 'poof kids are the most common!' come from governments being overly suspicious of personifications having kids together. It became common for governments to confiscate literal new born personifications from their parents; so suddenly it became far more common for kids to just appear at around 2-5 years old.
its actually a rlly sad hc the more I think about it.

Faroes is staying over at Denmarks house for Christmas or something and in the morning Den is using cookie cutters to turn Christiania's pancakes into fun shapes, and internally she's just like "after Norway left we all ate nothing but oatmeal for three months because you were either too drunk or too disengaged to bother with food, but here you are making racecar pancakes for this fucking kid." and then absolutely refusing to acknowledge how that brings up some feelings for her.
Greenland is regularly giving Denmark the shovel talk about how he better not treat Christiania the way he treated the rest of them when they were younger. She remembers what he used to be like, and she's not just going to stand by while he raises another kid like that.
Iceland almost entirely ignores the fact that Christiania exists and justifies it by insisting that he's his own nation now and he doesn't need to care what Denmark is doing. No, that child is not basically his younger sibling, because if he was then Ice might have to actually acknowledge the fact that Denmark used to be a remarkably shitty Dad. He has tried so so hard to forgive and forget that stuff at this point that it's just not worth it for him. Christiania is just some random kid that hangs out around Denmark sometimes. It's fine. He doesn't need to engage further than that.
