What would the IC characters do for their partners on Valentine's Day?

AWW. ERAGON: would literally spend months GROWING flowers just to give something special.

ARYA: Would make something really impressive, leave it, and completely brush off every acknowledgement like it didn’t matter. Then she’d secretly be extremely proud and happy of the reaction the gift got.

ORIK: A good hand-made gift and a hot Nagra is the way to his heart and to Hvedra’s. They are a match approved by Gûntera himself.

MURTAGH: Would spend hours upon hours finding Nasuada the perfect new dress down to the most minute detail. Then he would locate chocolate.

NASUADA: Prepares a small party just for him—with people he likes, his favorite foods and desserts he’s mentioned, good drinks, and plenty of time to dance.

ORRIN: Would spend a long time to create something super nerdy and useful as a gift and feel really good about it.

SAPHIRA: *tackles Fírnen affectionately* *may or may not have found a new hunting grounds he’ll adore*

FÍRNEN: Catches the biggest, best buck he can find and leaves it for Saphira.

THORN: Would clear out the most perfect section of the forest he could and create the absolute perfect place to lie in the sun and sleep and eat and just enjoy the day together.

GARZHVOG: I have no idea but it would probabaly involve wrestling.

RORAN: Makes new furniture exactly how Katrina wants it. Then he creates the cheesiest ‘be my valentine’ speech ever and the rest can be left to the imagination.

KATRINA: Makes pie. A lot of it.

ELAIN: Is all about little knitted gifts! Mittens, socks, blankets—she gives them to everybody! Eragon still has his old gifts from her on Arngor now, and he keeps and uses everything she sends him like treasure.

ANGELA: Mysterious and colorful bioluminescent mushrooms she’s preserved so that they can be hung on the wall as an admirable light source.

(This request genuinely gave me such a good time. A family I’ve often babysat for bought me some chocolates today to say thank you, and it is truly the first time anyone’s ever gotten me something for Valentine’s Day. I’m not super familiar with the proper way of planning out characters, but I was thinking about how I would personally classify the characters of the inheritance cycle (the first 4 books) into sections. So here we go.

Main characters. Anyone we get a POV from or other characters that are critical for the main story drive to happen, in order of importance: Eragon, Saphira, Galbatorix, Nasuada, Arya, Roran,

Major Characters. Key characters for the story, who have important roles and connections to the main cast, in order of importance: Brom, Murtagh, Glaedr, Oromis, Durza, Angela, Elva, Orik, The Eldunari, Razac, Katrina, Morzan, Thorn,

Secondary Characters. Characters who have a moderate effect on the events of the story or motivations of the main cast, who we spend time with but aren’t super critical, in order of importance: Firnen, Shruikan, Umaroth, Hrothgar, Izlandi, Garrow, Orrin, Jeod, Solembum, Selena, Sloan, Ajihad, Nar Garzhvog, Ismira,

Minor characters: Characters who have some effect, may have multiple scenes dedicated to them, connections to other characters, but aren’t very important, in ANY ORDER: Horst, Grimrr halfpaw, Carn, Lord Dathedr, Blodgharm, Rhunon, Vermund, Jormundur. Varaug, The Head Priest of Helgrind, The Twins, Lord Barst. The Forsworn, The menoa tree, Hvedra,

Side characters: Characters who have a few small scenes scenes or are long dead characters who set up the world, IN ANY ORDER: Vrael, the first Eragon, Vanir, any carvahall villagers, any of the dwarven leaders not already mentioned, Blagden, Martland Redbeard, Captain Brigman, Trianna, Faolin, Jarnunvosk,

Extra characters. Pretty much anyone with a one or maybe two scenes or a connection to another character such as: Yarbog, Helen, Edric, Fredrick, Valdr, Cuaroc, Lord Fiolr, Elvas caretaker, Saphira (broms dragon) etc.

Background characters: anyone else, for example, random named soldiers, Maud, the young priest in helgrind, people who show up once as a part of another persons scene basically, or someone mentioned once or twice by other characters like Thuviel.

Is there anyone I missed? Do you disagree with some of the orders of importance I put people in for the first couple of paragraphs? (Murtagh fans are gonna come for me, but please remember I’m only doing the first 4 books) would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Which IC characters would win a drinking contest?

Eragon could win against many people, even Arya—though she would never dare to admit that—but could not dream of challenging Horst, an Urgal/Kull, or Orrin—who drinks constantly despite being a lightweight.

Arya and Orik are drinking rivals. The better for is undecided, but both are confident in their abilities.

I believe in the depths of my soul that most elves are lightweights and you cannot change my mind. Oromis would manage like two sips before getting dizzy.

Roran is terrifying and he and Eragon are both known to go slightly dangerous lengths to prove who is better. Both have won an equal number of times, neither will allow themselves to lose. Roran’s only true drinking rival is Garzhvog.

Horst could beat literally everybody. He just doesn’t drink that much.

Nasuada literally is not allowed to drink at this point. One singular drink and she’s basically loopy and giggly. Alín is much stronger than one would expect, but also ends up loopy and giggly if she has too much.

No one is sure when Uvek is drunk because he still feels the same to them.

Orrin would lose every drinking contest but continue to engage in them regardless.

Orik enjoys them but doesn’t drink around Hvedra because she’ll revoke his mead supply if he gets too foolish with the contests. However, he will win against Murtagh, Nasuada, Alín, Garven, Jörmundur, and wants to challenge Roran in the future.

Hvedra and Hrothgar would be a match I’d pay to see but I am afraid of what would happen

Arya claims she beat can win against just about anybody. Whether or not this is true is unknown, but Eragon will hold it up for her (with a bit of teasing) and she HAS beat quite a few if our Main Characters.

Saphira would best Fírnen but Thorn would best Saphira at this one. However, Thorn does not drink super often because then he just feels sad and I love him too much to put him through that.

Garrow’s average in the drinking game but can easily beat Sloan, Byrd, and the other farmers by a fair shot. Brom, Morn, and Horst are the strongest drinkers when they engage in it.

One time, as a child, Eragon came into Morn’s tavern and ended up drunk, only to be found by Morn and Roran some hours later 100% blacked out. Another time, in the Varden, Eragon raided the wine tent and Nasuada still to this day doesn’t know who tf did that and she never will.

Blödhgarm is forbidden from alcohol and caffeine.

To follow up the sick one, ic gang when their friend is sick?

ERAGON: Makes so much soup. Soup all day. Basically becomes a mother hen. Good friend.

ARYA: Disappears all day then shows up with a suspicious tea and a poem to quietly chat until they’re sleepy.

MURTAGH: Gets awkward because he doesn’t know what to do when people are sick so he just sends anonymous gifts and visits when they wake up from nap to be sure they’re all right

RORAN: Lets them sleep all day. Is personally a drama queen when sick, so is convinced everyone is dying if they aren’t asleep when sick.

ORIK: Is super concerned and trying very gently to make them feel better. Is actually very comforting and patient.

HVEDRA: Will chase them will a kitchen ladle if they don’t rest (did this to Eragon once) but will be a sweet and motherly soup-bringer if they stay put.

BROM: “Ah. Um…” *proffers mint tea* *whacks them with stick if they don’t get in bed*

OROMIS: Waits until afflicted is like on the verge of collapse then tells them they can go home. (Who authorized this man to teach? Honey I love you but no)

NASUADA: Orders a day of rest and sends books so that they have something to do.

ALÍN: Really wants to help and probably walks in way too many times for them to ever sleep but she means well and brought food, drinks, entertainment, and blankets.

UVEK: Doesn’t really know what he’s supposed to do but would start trying tribal chants in order to heal them

GARZHVOG: “YOU SHAKE LIKE LEAF. WANT FIRE?”

ANGELA: Brings more potions than should be able to fit in her clothes. Yet there they are.

SAPHIRA: Shows no affection for anyone accept Eragon and his group typically but will help by telling someone their friend is sick so they can be help. She will also grace them with her presence.

THORN: *comforts the afflicted*

FÍRNEN: Would bring them blankets to be helpful and sit and wait, watching you with puppy eyes, for them to bundle themselves in the blankets he brought.

ORRIN: Is usually the one sick. Terrible immune system. 0/10.

SOLEMBUM: *lays on them*

How IC Characters Would React to Dinosaurs, Part Fourteen; Plesiosaurus:

ERAGON: Wonders if the teeth, once lost, could be collected to serve as decent arrow heads.

MURTAGH: Collects the teeth to make the arrow heads and a slightly emo necklace.

ARYA: Riding this sucker with a spear in her hand, shouting war cries in common elvish like an inebriated cavewoman.

NASUADA: “They’re in the water supply now???”

ORIK: “Holy Kilf. Holy KILF. Hvedra. Hvedra, it’s Aunt-f***ing’-Beatrice!!

GARZHVOG: “No horns. Disappointing. Neck like stick.” Is promptly slapped by a flipper and forced to learn how to swim VERY quickly. “I apologize. Good strength.” *leaves*

UVEK: Is trying to tie leather armor onto it.

ANGELA: “Now, Howard, I thought we discussed this already! The local fish population simply cannot clean you that fast! You have to go south of here— yes, to the reef! Do I need to call Marlin?”

SOLEMBUM: is gone faster than you can realize he was even there in the first place.

BROM: “…like a blasted sea chicken with arms—“ *walks off muttering*

SILNA: sacrifices the nearest bird and blows this popsicle stand

SAPHIRA: Eragon, this is going too far. I’m not even sure what this is! Have the Nïdwhal been seeing problems?

THORN: Thinks it looks like a fat extraterrestrial spaghetti and is now wheezing quietly in laughter.

FÍRNEN: It is a manatee with big neck and big teeth, is it not?

GLAEDR: is vaguely annoyed by this thing purely because he thinks it’s disproportionate

OROMIS:

MORZAN: would try and use this thing as an extra battle beast but like for pretend scenarios

GARROW: “…and this, children, is why I hate the Bay of Fundor.”

What would the IC characters favorite Disney princess be?

ERAGON: Belle, I think. Books, isolation, getting herself into extremely awkward and otherwise incomprehensible situations… he relates.

MURTAGH: It’s Tiana and you know it.

NASUADA: She never sits down to watch movies for a few minutes unless it’s like 3am and with a ton of chocolate. If she actually paid attention to what company she’s watching, the answer is Esmeralda.*

ARYA: Mulan. She’s a badass and Arya respects it. Because yes! Wipe out an army of three thousand! HA! EAT THAT, SUCKERS!

ORIK: Snow White just for irony reasons. He hates the movie and it brings him endless entertainment. He hates it so much he can laugh himself to tear watching it. Hvedra thinks he’s lost his mind.

OROMIS: *not paying attention**rolls eyes* “Shrek.”

SAPHIRA: Cinderella, for sure. It’s probably because blue but she’d never admit that.

FÍRNEN: Aurora or Ariel but personally prefers Dreamworks.

THORN: Loves Disney, enjoys Jasmine, enjoys Moana more, enjoys Merida most. However, his favorite happy-sad-comfort-movie is and will always be All Dogs Go to Heaven in my mind.

which IC character is naughty or nice or Christmas?

ERAGON: Nice list (he is a good boi. A sad boi, but a good one) He wants Santa to bring him his family for Christmas.

MURTAGH: Nice list, and did a double take when he learned this. He doesn’t know how it happened, and he swears it’s a mistake, but he’s very happy with it actually and will fall asleep hugging the paper with the words “Murtagh ~ Nice” to his chest like it is a gift.

ARYA: Naughty list for arson charges. Cursed using the word “Brisingr” while trying to wrangle baby Fírnen and caused significant damage to an elf lord’s gardens. (In the background: “MY CABBAGESSSS!!) She will use the coals in her stocking for magnificent acts of evil against Galbatorix’s followers and will be receiving hand-made gifts from Eragon.

NASUADA: Naughty list. Charges: Killing gourd-headed man with a spoon. However, she is unfazed. She just really wants a nap.

ORRIN: Naughty list for terrible tactical and political decisions and attacking Roran. Is very upset and remains as such until Christmas morning when he finds a collection of science items Nasuada sent for him. He mellows out after that.

UVEK: Is just deviously happy that such a thing as a “naughty and nice” list exists and is even happier to see that he was a good Urgal this year. The Urgal version of Santa (perhaps a Ganta?) shall be bringing him good things.

GARZHVOG: Naughty list for manslaughter via stick-throwing contest. Will find mead.

SAPHIRA: Naughty list for vanity, purely so Santa could help Eragon keep that ego in check. (No worries, Eragon made her eggnog and seasoned her a deer and snuggled with her all evening. She had a good Christmas.)

THORN: Is a good boy and is wiggling with emotional happiness. Literally everyone sent him gifts because he deserves them and because I said so because I love him.

FÍRNEN: Nice list. Excited puppy dragon. Had an amazing first Christmas and now owns a dragon-suited fluffy Christmas hat!

BROM: Naughty list for dying literally right before his son’s birthday. Usually on “acceptable” range of nice list though. He’s grumpy but he’s a good guy and he loves his son.

ALÍN: Nice list, and is delighted to a point of squeals over it.
