Could this day be possibly worse? Besides the fact that the morning nausea took over you, your boss also yelled at you for getting a sentence at your presentation wrong. All day long you had to smile and be polite, when your mood dropped with every moody person that you had to deal with. All you wanted now was to come home, eat something and snuggle up on the couch with chan. But since he was for sure working late, a drama would have to take his place.
Finally you reached your house, going in. You and chans daughter haneuls babysitter was standing at the door, slipping her shoes on.âHey y/n, haneul is sleeping, she ate dinner and brushed her teeth after showering, so everything should be done.â
You smiled at the young woman, thanking her and saying goodbye She was haneuls babysitter for already a year, and never made problems. And since haneul liked her too, it was a win win situation. So now, she was leaving, and you quietly put your coat on the stove, and then went into the kitchen. Maybe you could make some ramen and then watch a drama. You looked at the clock. It was still going to be a while until your husband would come home. You sighed and started cooking your ramen.
Unfortunately you burned your hand by accidentally spilling the hot water onto it. Seriously? You cursed under your breath, rinsing it with cold water. It felt like everything that could possibly go wrong today was going wrong. You know it was probably just the hormones that everything riled you up so much today but you didnt care. Tears of frustration pricked at your eyes. You took a deep breath in, and tried to remind yourself that everything was okay.
You took out your favorite bowl out the cuppoard, the one Chan gifted you for your first anniversary. But you should have been more attentive, because in the next moment you slipped. The water that spilled down on the floor when you burned your hand earlier was in small puddles over the floor. You didnât see it and stepped directly into them. Nothing happened to you, you managed to catch the edge of the kitchencounter, so you remained standing, but the bowl fell to the ground, and burst into too many pieces to count.
You stared down at the mess, the loud noise and sharp ceramic pieses everywhere had startled you, and you tried to supress the fact that you just ruined your favorite bowl. The bowl chan gifted you. With trembling hands you crouched down to the floor, trying to collect the pieces, but then you accidentaly cut yourself with one. It left a burning, sharp pain. You quickly let the pieces fall, yelping at the feeling. Soon the small line got covered in red.
It was too much. You couldnât hold it together anymore. You slid down to the floor with your back to the kitchen counter, your throat tightening. Hot tears were running down your cheeks. This, everything was frustrating you so much. You were pretty sure it was mostly because of the hormones of the pregnancy. But that also didnât stop you from feeling like this. Â Helpless you wiped the blood of your hand with the hem of your shirt. Quiet sobs were escaping your mouth. You felt gross, a suffocating feeling in your stomach when you looked at the blood. You felt pathetic when you thought of the fact that you were sitting, crying on the kitchen floor
You should clean up, care fort he injury and just go eat, but something stopped you. You just remained on the floor, crying helplessly.
That was until you suddenly saw tiny legs standing in front of you. Your head perked up and you were surpised to see haneul standing there. Immediately you wiped the tears away, and put a small smile on.
âHey, i thought you were already sleeping sweetie?â
She just looked at you, her eyes darting from your face, to the mess around you, and then to your bloody knuckle.
âWhat happened mommy?â she asked, her gaze still looking around.
âNothing sweetie, i just let the bowl fall, itâs okay, iâll clean it up. Just go back to bed alright?â
She seemed to be thinking for a moment and then slowly shook her head.
âBut you are hurt, and there is water from your eyes on your face.â
You could have almost laughed at her description of your tears. Then before you could say anything, she added:
âIs daddy home?â
The question caught you a bit off guard but you just shook your head at it.
âReally hannie, i promise iâm okay, you can go back to sleep. And you donât have to tell daddy okay?â
She continued simply looking at you, her little brain seemingly thinking through her options. Without another words she tapped away, so you thought she finally was going back to bed.
But haneul didnât even think about doing that, stubborn like she is, just like her father. She quietly tapped to the wardrobe, taking your phone out your coat.. She was proud she remembered your code from the one time when she looked over your shoulder. She searched for chanâs contact. She didnât learn how to read yet, but when she saw the picture of her father she knew it was his contact. She tapped the call icon and put the phone to her ear. After a few ringings chan picked up, and haneul got excited when she heard her dadâs voice. You usually never let her call him while he is at work.
âHey y/nnie, Whats up?â
âItâs me daddy!â haneul happily cheered into the speaker.
âoh hi hannie, whatâs up, do you need something? Shouldnât you be sleeping?â he sounded a bit concerned, not entirely sure why his little daughter would phone him at 8:30 p.m. when she should be asleep already.
Haneul ignored her dads scolding about being asleep and instead came to her point immediately.
âMommy is crying in the kitchen right now, and her hand is red and everywhere around here are sharp pieces of the bowl she loves so much. Mommy said she is alright and i should not tell you, but you always tell me family sticks together, in good and in bad, so i had to call you right?â The little girl nervously rambled, not sure if it was right that she called her dad.
Chanâs heart swelled a bit at her words that he had said so often before. Truly you and him raised a kind little girl. But then he quickly remembered the rest of her words, and got concerened again.
âYes it was good you called me, iâm proud of you. But why is her hand red hannie? Do you mean she is bleeding?â
Haneul agreed and then chan was quick to tell her he would be there in ten minutes.
He took his things as fast as he could, leaving the studio. When his pregnant wife was sitting on the kitchen floor, bleeding and crying, something was not right, and he would not sit at work any minute longer.
As chan got home, haneul was sitting by the door, playing with a plushie. As she heard the door open she immediately jumped up.
âCome on daddy, i donât think mommy has moved since i called you.â
Chan took his jacket and shoes off, haneul pulling at his sleeve. Then he went into the kitchen, taking haneul into his arms, so she wouldnât get hurt by the sharp pieces of the bowl.
As you heard footsteps approaching you raised your head from your knees that you had tightly pulled up, only to see chan, looking at you with your daughter in his arms. He quickly sat her down on the counter and crouched down next to you, careful not to step onto the sharp things.
ây/nnie, baby what happened?â he asked, his hand stroking some half dried tears away.
âI-i was just soâŚthe bowl, it fell and⌠the whole day, it was so⌠and i got overwhelmed and itâs just-â you stuttered, looking at him with glossy eyes.
He looked at you once more, taking in your tear streaked, exhausted face, the injured hand, the other one at your belly in a loving, protecting motion. It was clear that your day must have been tiring and you were exhausted and overwhelmed. His eyes softened and he didnât hesitate, standing up and scooping you into his arms. Neither of you said something, and haneul just watched. Gently, chan carried you to the couch in the living room, laying you down. He told haneul to get you a blanket, and he was getting stuff to treat your injuries. The little girl brought you a fluffy blanket, and she tossed it messily over you, cuddling into your side herself. You wrapped an arm around her. Then chan came back with a bunch of bandage stuff. He wiped the blood of your hand, then desinfected it, at wich you hissed, and he mumbled soothing apologies. At the end he gently wrapped a bandage around your hand. Â
âDoes it feel better?â Haneul asked, inspecting your hand now. She took your bandaged knuckles in her own tiny hand, and placed a little kiss on it. Your heart swelled at the motion and you nodded, tenderly stroking her head.
âGood because, you also always do that and it makes every ouch better.â She explained with wild hand gestures.
Chan watched the scene. He felt such love and admiration for both his girls, and the little boy that didnât even know him yet too.
âIâll go clean up in the kitchen alright love?â He softly said, kissing you on your forehead.
âOh about that⌠It was the bowl you gifted me for our first anniversary.â You said, the smile disappearing from your face again.
âHey, i knew it meant a lot to you, but itâs alright hm? I can gift you a thousand more, if that would make you happy.â He said with a smile, and then he stood up, going into the kitchen. You looked after him. How was this perfect loving man your husband?
You looked down at haneul, stroking her head. âWhy did you even call your dad hannie?â
She gazed up at you, snuggling to you even more. âDaddy always says that family is always there for each other, if we are happy and laughing, but also if we are sad and crying.â She said, proud to know her dadâs words. Your eyes got shiny again. Just like chan before, you were so proud of your kind, little daugther, and that chan and you had the honor to be the parents of haneul.
Suddenly, she raised her head a bit and then laid it to your belly. âMommy why does your belly feel so weird?â She asked, sounding confused. It was so cute, you wanted to just hold this memory forever.
âYou will get a baby brother haneul.â You said, holding your breath. You werenât sure how she would react. For a moment she stared at you, then at your belly, then at your face again. âAnd he is in there?â she said, with a shocked face. You started giggling. âYes he is.â Haneuls face lit up. âOhhh, then iâll be the best big sister he ever had. Can we call him seungmin mommy? Like daddyâs dog friend! Or maybe doongie, like the cat from uncle minho!â Â You laughed at her random name reccomendations. You were glad she was so excited.
Chan was done cleaning the kitchen so he was coming back, watching the heartwarming scene in front of him with a fond smile on his face. He walked over to you two again and sat down next to you on the couch. With a smile you cuddled up in his arms, him brushing his fingers through your hair in a tender motion. You continued holding haneul, all three of you snuggled up like this now.
And haneul? She was holding onto your belly, protecting her little brother from this very first moment on.
This family was all you could ever want. A loving, caring husband, the kindest little daughter, and soon a little baby boy, that was looking exactly like chan, with the name Eunwoo. And as haneul said, you were a family, and family sticks together, in sadness as much as in happiness
a/n: tell me what u think of it<33, im sorry for roasting seungmin a bit :3 Also thanks to my @darqlys for letting me yap about my 100 different ideas, and helping me choose the right things<333

pairing; bang chan x female reader
synopsis; you're the other half of chan's heart as he is to yours.
content; fluff, comfort, married/established relationship, slight angst, sprinkle of humour | word count; 1.4 k
it was nights like these.
when y/n could feel the calm, persistent rise and fall of her husbandâs unclad chest pressing against her back. a loving warmth radiates from chan, seeping into her being, and enveloping her entirety in a blanket of comfort and security. the feeling of his fervent kisses he placed against the length of her neck earlier still linger. the couple lay together, limbs intertwined. chanâs right arm hooked under the curve of y/nâs waist; his sly, wandering fingers slithered underneath her singlet and rested against the soft, plush of her abdomen. right then and there, y/n prays for a greater divine entity to make time stand still, so she can continue to relish his doting embrace. her heart swells with utter delight, and a tinge of delirium ăź a result of the late hours of the evening that she finds herself awake at.
y/n reaches for chanâs other hand, his arm slung lazily over her hip. she fiddles with the thin, silver bracelet adorning his wrist. the bracelet she gifted him over two years prior - inscribed on the inside plate, a few words: whatâs yours is mine. although cliche, the idiom became a phrase the pair often recited to each other.
she chuckles softly to herself, reminiscing on the defining moment in their journey to marriage.
âhoney, please look at meâŚâ chan pleads as he kneels before y/n, who sits on their small couch with an absent gaze fixed to the opposite wall of their apartment. sheâs teary-eyed with her bottom lip in a pout.
she continues to stubbornly avoid his eyes. he brings his thumb and index to her chin, guiding her face to meet his. chan leans forward, y/n is drawn to his wide brown orbs that beckon her attention, holding a profound reassurance as they stare back at her. the silent communication between the pair has y/n lurching forward into chanâs arms, nestling her face into his shoulder as child-like wails escape her.
âi-i didnât think theyâd see me. iâm so sorry, channie. i donât want to break up, but i donât want them to hurt you. i donât want th-them to be mad at you.â
the flurry of fears spew from his girlfriend as she clings to his frame, whilst chan consolingly pats her back. everything begins to click in his head. earlier that day, the couple were called to the company, where his manager broke the news of their exposure to the public. an array of headlines decorated the homepages of various news sites, mostly presenting their relationship in a scandalous, negative manner.
y/n was very quiet, and appeared understanding, but on their way home, a sense of distance and tension had begun festering between them.
âbaby, you did nothing wrong. they were going to find out about us sooner or later. you mean the world to me. i wonât let anything happen to you. if theyâre my fans, theyâll be happy for me.â chan gently affirms y/n as he cradles her fragile, exhausted body.
âup we go,â he announces, tucking his arms under y/nâs knees and around her shoulders to gather her into a bridal-style hold. chan carefully walks them to their shared bedroom, placing her delicately on the edge of the bed. once again, his girlfriendâs gaze is downcast, her shoulder slump with the weight of great sorrow as she sniffles trying to hold back the stinging tears that prick at her eye line.
chan uses this opportunity to hastily rummage through his backpack hanging off a hook on the back of the bedroom door. he's careful to conceal the small velvet box in his pocket. taking a seat next to y/n on the bed, his left arm encases her shoulders and brings her head to rest against him.
âi wasnât going to say it like this, but the timing couldnât be any better,â he nervously starts, feebly scratching at his clavicle. chan takes y/nâs left hand in his, caressing the back of her palm, rubbing faint soothing circles in hopes to assuage her anxieties. y/n senses the shift in his demeanour, her breath hitching in her throat in anticipation for the worst; she had a tendency to spiral, and she begins to mentally prepare herself for him to deliver the three dreadful words: âletâs break up-â but he doesnât.
âletâs get married-â y/n swallowed, her head tilted slightly back to prevent the salty tears that welled up. a volcano threatening to erupt, they began to freefall without a care, her trembling hands cover her eyes as she hurriedly move out of his firm hold.
âi donât want to say goodbye to what we have, but if itâs for the best, iâll do anything for you, chan.â
âwoah, woah! baby, slow down. retract that, come back to me.â y/n stands in front of him, as the reality washes over her. with her mouth agape, she studies his face. chanâs lips are plastered with a smile, but his brows furrow at the unexpected rejection. he peers at her face painted with disbelief, before breaking into a laugh.
âdid you think i was breaking up with you?â his hands reach out to y/n, residing on either side of her hips to position her in between his knees. y/nâs hands come to rest on his shoulders and she doesnât break eye contact with him. her eyes conveying a message of uncertainty, and chan receives that as a sign to continue his previous spiel.
âno matter what anyone says,â he interlaces one of his hands with y/nâs and peppers several featherlike kisses to her knuckles, âyou are my world. your happiness is my happiness, your sadness is my sadness, and your love is my love. i donât want to face the world alone anymore.â tears again pool in her eyes, not from apprehension, but pure joy and adoration over chanâs heartfelt confession.
âiâm not that special, m-maybe one day youâll wake up and realise you settled for me over your dreamâŚâ y/n was not one to express her self doubts openly to chan, and those words evoke a protective side in him; confident to prove her worth to him.
chan scoffs, âsettle? that might be how you see it, but iâve had the pleasure of knowing you for years, and youâve only given me more reasons to love life. iâm convinced iâve loved you in a past lifetime, and weâre reuniting again to continue that same love. let me be the one to teach you all things to love about you. whatever problems arise, weâll solve them together." y/n grew speechless, hearing chan profess such deep feelings broke down her walls of insecurity, his words were an emergence of light nearing the end of a dark tunnel.
"you are my dream."
chan's gaze holds a degree of fondness that has y/n crumbling into his arms, her knees buckle and she falls forward, pinning him against the mattress. the action alone flusters both of them as they blush in unison, red blooming from chanâs neck all the way up to his ears as a wildfire of pink spans across y/nâs cheeks.
âgetting down to business already, mulan?â chan shyly bites, breaking the tense atmosphere between them.
âspeak for yourself, i felt that.â y/n abashedly retorts as she straightens herself to stand up, and chan is quick to fish the velvet box from his pocket before raising his hands in the air.
âi'm innocent!â laughter erupts from the pair as chan engulfs y/n in a joyous hug.
âthatâs a yes though, right?â he pulls back and y/n nods profusely, âyes in this lifetime, and in the next.â
chan stands, his arms encircle y/nâs waist as he captures her lips with his; molding together perfectly in reciprocal affection and devotion.
the memory sets y/nâs heart ablaze as excitement courses through her veins. consumed by the need to feel even closer than they impossibly were, y/n untucks his hand from beneath her singlet to turn over and cuddle further into her husbandâs hold.
chan stirs, a hazy smile dances on his lips, âcomfortable, baby?â he mumbles, sleep dripping from each word.
âalways in your arms, my prince. i love you,â y/n replies, reverently pressing a soft peck to his lips.

Cocaine Colored Wedding Dress // Bang Chan x Fem!Reader
Older by 5SOS, Sierra Deaton. Today is your day. Both of yours. The day you get married to Christopher Bang.
Tags: Marriage, Fuff, Skz!Bestmen, Idol!Bang Chan, Wedding Shenanigans, you are skz's noona
Disclaimer: author doesn't know shit about weddings and ofc its song inspired lmao. your family members would remain nameless. (felix is part of your entourage your own bestman/maid of honor but a guy), i will keep wedding details and furnishings vague as to not kill the imagination but there WILL be a church. for my fatherless/motherless readers, I AM YOUR FATHER NOW ă˝( `д´*)ă
a/n: i wrote this while travelling so im sorry it's sloppy
As Felix helps you tighten the bodice of your dress, your mind starts wandering at 100 miles an hour, thinking about the floral arrangements and whether or not they were finished on time because you nor Chan had enough time to check last night, hoping that everyone's dresses and suits are complete, praying to every possible deity out there that Chan slept well because you certainly couldn't out of pure excitement, the anxious thoughts now settling down your stomach. "Y/N-ah," Felix's voice snaps you out of it as you look up at him, met with a kind and loving smile from your best friend, "You can look now," he gently states before moving away from the mirror. You take a deep breath and shut your eyes, before turning around, dress moving along to the motion.
Slowly opening your eyes, you could feel unbridled joy with a healthy mix of anxiety spike through your veins like never before. You've tried it, three times even for fitting and alterations but now that it was happening, now that it was real; you felt so gorgeous. Your emotions well up at your throat, stopping yourself from crying before your destroy your make-up.
The veil hangs perfectly behind you, white textile hugging you correctly while it flows like water, your jewelry shines brighter it seems; and you look amazing. The confidence your entire bridal attire gives you is so exhilarating, only one thought of 'I can't wait until Chris sees this,' solid in your mind, pushing all the other worries away. You somewhat anticipated it when you started planning the wedding, but Chan was quite a traditionalist in a sense that he wanted to keep the wedding as sweet and as fun he saw it just as sacred. And he didn't want to see your dress until the day itself which makes you stand here now, your first look at both your outfits.
Felix peers over and smiles at the look on your face, making him approach you before handing you a box of tissue, "Always our crybaby," he jokes lightly with the most loving voice ever, "How do you feel,"
"Amazing," your voice quivers while wiping off the tears from their tear ducts before it could ever escape your eyes. "Oh my god,"
"Well," he laughs, "Let's go?"
You nod excitedly, making him nervous that you'd knock your properly groomed hair over. You hook your arms with him before you exit the bridal suite. The plan was to meet Chan by the place behind the reception which was close to the church you were going to get married in. Your heart was slamming against your ribcage like it was wanting escape, excitement pounding through you like a toddler on LSD. You'd bounce on your heels at every step if it wasn't for the fact that you wanted to be prim and proper for your future husband.
Husband. The prospect was enough to make you wanna squeeze Felix and squeal until someone's eardrums broke and at the same time break down crying at just how lucky you are to have Christopher Bang as your husband. An overworking perfectionist, never stops until satisfied and is rarely so, chronic insomniacâbut a man fueled by hard work and passion, driven by his desire to do and give his best; his work and the people around him heavily influenced. A sweetheart through and through, boyish in charm and loving to a fault, gentlemanly and steadfast in his morals and principles. For better or for worse you will stick with him, because you love him for every once of his perfections along with every morsel of his flaws. Your husband, Christopher Bang.
And the most terrifying thing isâyou wholeheartedly trust that he'd do the same for you.
"Okay stop!" Changbin calls out before you could even turn the corner, blocking the way. You almost hit him like you would a brick wall but Felix immediately stops you. "For the record, miss bride," he beams up at you before opening his arms for a hug which you wholeheartedly accept with joy. "You look amazing, sweet thing," he chuckles before pressing a slight kiss to your temple, "Congratulations, Y/N-ah. I'm so proud of you two,"
You have to look up to prevent the tears fro falling, slightly smacking him on the chest in order for you to laugh at his response before he beckons Felix to leave a bit, photographer for the moment on standby. Leaving both of you for the tender moment, it's like time is at a standstill, none of you talking much before Chan clears his throat. "Y/N?" he calls out, nervousness evident in his voice.
"Chris," you respond, a little bit choked up before you see his hand pop out from the corner, "Hold my hand please," he asks softly before you comply, feeling his slightly clammy hands, with a gentle tremble within.
"I'm so terrified I'd start crying like a baby when I see you," he half-heartedly jokes, partially meaning it as you laugh out a bit. "Well that makes both of us," you sigh before rubbing soothing circles on the back of his hand, "Ready?"
"Yeah," he breathes out, "On three?"
"Mhm," you hum, "One," you start of and he finishes the third count. There's a pause before both of you move to see each other. Instantaneously all of the sparks you've lost, those that have dwindled away comes back to both of you. Unable to help yourself but cry and he remains breathless.
Handsome. You always thought he was but in a white suit, white tie, your favorite flower pinned by his breast, hair decorated with shiny flower pins that you suggested months ago, light make-up on himâhe looked ethereal, like he was cut from the gods and you couldn't help but sob at that. "You're so handsome my love," you chuckle wetly, reaching your hand out on his cheek tenderly before he presses a kiss against your palm, "I love you," he simply states before pulling you into a hug, "So so much,"
"I love you too," you tighten your grip on his body reassuringly. "So so so much,"
You two stand there in silence, basking in each other's warmth while you keep the tears at bay. You know he's silently crying with the motions and ministrations behind your back but you let him. It was your wedding day after all. "Should we get a picture?" you whisper against his ear as he nods and detaches from you, "God, I'm already a mess,"
"You're perfect," you laugh before pressing a kiss on his cheek, prolonging the stay of your lips on his skin before producing a loud 'mwah,' "Perfect groom,"
"For the perfect bride," he chuckles before you both turn to the photographer, signaling him that he could finally take pictures and not take paparazzi shotsâa running joke you and Chan made when asked if you wanted pictures of the intimate moment. You take a few more sweet and cute pictures before Seungmin comes barreling down the stairs with no reprieve, immediately worrying you and Chan whilst disrupting the photography process. "I am so so sorry I have to barge in like this," he huffs, only in his white button up and slacks, "But the officiant suddenly got the IBS. He's been stuck in the restroom for like, what, an hour?" he explains, "I think he needs to be taken to the hospital,"
"What?!" both you and Chan question in alarm. But before you could think of a response Seungmin clears his throat, "But PD-nim...turns out is a licensed and trained officiant,"
"PD-nim...?" Chan questions before you fill in the blanks, "As in the JYP PD-nim?,"
Seungmin mutely nods. "So long as he gets both your permissions he'll gladly do it for free,"
You look up at Chan who simply looks back at you, a silent conversation happening between the flitting and movement of eyes. "What do you think?" you verbalize as he nods, "Well, it's not like we have much of a choice do we," he sighs and holds your hands, "I'm sorry it has to be PD-nim,"
"Well it'll probably be a bit weird but I don't mind much," you squeeze, "I'd get married to you regardless of the officiant anyway,"
"I am," Hyunjin sighs out, exasperated as Minho and Jisung run around toppling the place over, "Gonna freak out,"
"Channie hyung is back!"
"Fuck!" all three of them simultaneously curse before Chan comes in with a very offended look on his face, Seungmin and Changbin looking at the men in the hotel room in confusion. "What is... happening?" Changbin trails off after seeing the pair peering at the back of the couches while Hyunjin holds his hair in his hand.
"Hyunjin is missing his fucking pants," Jackson exasperates. Chan's brows reach his hairline, "What? Since when?"
"Apparently it didn't come in the dress bag," Hyunjin explains with a tinge of desperation in his voice, "And please please don't tell Y/N noona," he takes Chan's hands and the groom doesn't know whether or not to smack him upside the head or laugh. "I can't promise that," he says a bit stiffly, "Are you sure you're checked everywhere? The floor, the hotel room you used last night?"
"Wait hyung you're such a genius!" Hyunjin vibrates with new hope before patting his pockets down before realizing he already returned the keycard to the room after checking out. "Oh shit," and Chan seems to realize this issue before sighing, "Let's go boys," he strips off his blazer for now before neatly hanging it up the door hooks. "Move out,"
Jackson and Brian stay behind to hold the fort while the 7 men accompany each other to the hotel clerk for moral support should Hyunjin and Chan start breaking down in front of the poor attendant. "God forbid any of her bridesmaids see us," Jisung crosses his fingers, "Or like, let her know a month after,"
"Yeah, like as a funny memory,"
"You guys do know I can't lie to my wife right?" Chan sweats, nervously tapping his leg on the elevator floor heading down. "Worse comes to worse only Hyunjin is gonna die,"
"Hey!" he whines, "Please, anyone but in the hands of noona,"
"I'll do it in her stead," Minho comments before the elevator door opens, offering a "kind" smile to Hyunjin that never fails to send shivers down his spine. Chan leads the barrage of 6 men, heading to the receptionist as he clears his throat. "Hi," he greets, before beckoning Hyunjin to his side, "What was your room?"
"801,"
"Has 801 been cleared yet?" he turns back to the receptionist who starts typing into the console, "Not yet sir. Would you want to re-check back in?" she inquires as Chan waves his hand in disapproval, "Oh, no no, I was just gonna ask if it was possible to check the room? This guy left something really important,"
"Oh, I'll see what I can do about it sir, please wait for a while,"
Hyunjin frowns and clamps on Chan's arm, "I'm really sorry hyung,". He chuckles and pats Hyunjin's head, "It happens. Not every wedding is perfect," he reassures, "I do have to tell Y/N,"
A despaired noise escapes Hyunjin, dramatics unending. He couldn't request Chan to keep it from you either, knowing that keeping something as crucial as this a secret quite possibly could put a wrench on your relationship, both as an affianced couple and in a few hours, spouses. The receptionist smiles pitifully at Hyunjin, and 5 minutes span on like an hour.
After one phone call, she smiles at both Chan and Hyunjin, along with the 4 others lined up behind them, "I'll give you the keycard. Fortunately, room service hasn't cleaned it yet,"
"Thank you so much ma'am!" Hyunjin bows as he accepts the keycard with his two hands, as if receiving his diploma.
And in record time, they make it to the room. They scramble to start looking, Chan in the bathroom, Minho and Jisung towards the closets, Changbin by the couches, Jeongin, Seungmin, and Hyunjin in the bedroom. "It's not here," Jisung mutters, disappointed but Minho gently pushes him out of the way and turns his phone flashlight on, and true enough the pants are nestled on the floor by the corner.
"It's here!" he announces before grabbing the pants, handing it to Hyunjin who was rushing towards him. "Hyung!"
A slap to the back of his head was delivered but Minho sighs in relief anyways, "You idiot," he mutters before cajoling Hyunjin out the door, "Making us nervous and shit,"
The veil falls over your face, white clouding your vision before Felix hands you your bouquet. "Ready?" he asks before you nod, and from your periphery, you see your father enter the room. Felix bows politely before leaving the room, simply just two of you. "You're getting married," he states in a factly tone, "That's the plan," you chuckle before holding your hand out for him to take.
"I can't believe I'm sending you off," he sighs and looks up and down at you, "My darling daughter,"
"Chan'll take care of me," you assure with a chuckle, trying to not cry in front of your father, not when he looks so proud yet so sad at the same time. "I know," he tucks his hands behind him, "It'll be a little bit quieter at home though," he sighs.
You swallow down, lump on your throat growing. "Dad..."
"I don't say it a lot, Y/Nnie," he sighs and places a hand on your shoulder, "But I am proud of you. Where you are now," he smiles, tears lining the edge of his eyes before your lower lip trembles and tenderly touch your father's cheeks, "Thank you," it escapes you as barely a whisper. "You'll always be welcome home," he assures, "Don't worry about the grandchildren for now. Your mother says so too,"
"Yeah," you giggle before taking his arm. "Thank you for everything Dad," you rub it lightly. It surprises you when he pulls you into a tender hug, rare and sweet as you burst into tears, sobbing like a little baby before your mother then enters. "Oh, you made our princess cry!" she scolds before reaching under your veil with a handkerchief and patting your tears away gently, making sure she doesn't rub onto the waterproof make-up. "You look so pretty,"
"Thank you Mom," you giggle when she presses a kiss on your cheeks, going through the veil, "Pretty bride genes run through your blood,"
"Now you're just flattering yourself," your father teases with a fond smile on his face directed to his wife, "Oh shut! You cried during our wedding day you old fool," she lightly pushes the back of his head before pressing a kiss to his cheek. "I'll go now, we'll all be waiting for you in the wedding hall," she waves and leaves. You could see her wipe her own tears but the door closes on her before you could say something else.
You fan your face and take a deep breath out, pacing around the room while your father patiently sits by the lounges. "Nervous?" he asks. You nod before he beckons you to sit down, easily complying as you face him, "Do you know," he says, "Your uncle tripped on the aisle when I and your mother got married," he starts narrating as you giggle. "He was a spectacle. Everyone was teasing him during the reception," he fondly recalls, "But honestly, I'm secretly glad it happened, I was super nervous to marry your mother," he congresses.
"Really?" you place a hand on your mouth, not really expecting it from your straight-laced father and his impenetrable force of patience and indifference. "Your mother is the most beautiful woman I've laid my eyes on. I'm glad I got to marry her," he sighs, "And I know Chan feels the same. I have never seen someone look so in love in years until I saw him,"
"Only reason you said yes to him asking your blessing,"
"Would you rather I let you marry a man who isn't happy to be with you?"
"Of course not,"
"Exactly," he nods, "I will put an axe through his skull if that look changes,"
"Dad!" you laugh and smack the side of his arm, "Don't say that on my wedding day!" you giggle as he rolls his eyes, "That's a promise!"
You were about to respond when the organizer knocks on the door and peers through the crack, "Miss bride, and mister father," they beckon, "It's time,"
You stand up with shaky hands, taking the bouquet before your father offers his arm up for you to take, hooking your hand against his. You both walk out of the room and head to the path leading to the church, doors nearly empty after the entourage walks in. You vaguely see Chan's figure enter the chapel and walk along before the curtains lining the entrance fall down and block your view after your mother follows afterwards.
"Why am I gonna throw up," you whisper to your father as he chuckles and squeezes your arm comfortingly, "At least not on the aisle,"
"Dad!"
"You'll do great," he genuinely assures, "This is your day, your groom is happily waiting for you at the end of the aisle," he pats your back before the organ starts to play the bridal march, curtains opening as people stand for you. A deep inhale is caught in your throat, nervousness spiking as your father cajoles you into walking.
And then you see Chan, although screened in white and obscured by the veil you couldn't help but be emotional. You don't know what triggered it, but the tears prick your eyes and then you see him reach over his' and pad a handkerchief along. He's crying too. But the smile is so prominent you could see the dimples against the veil, making you giggle quietly, tension in your body dissipating.
The march seems to stretch on longer than you or Chan wished for, but eventually, your father comes over and gives him a short hug before taking your hand and placing it in his'. "Do good," he notions to Chan as he nods. Shakily, you both step forward hand in handâface to face with JYP, your emergency officiant.
The ceremony starts, people take their seats while Felix and your best friend keep a keen eye on your comfort and your dress. Chan can't stop squeezing your hand reassuringly, catching subtle glances like you were back in high school giggling about. You both sign the wedding papers once your officiant announces it, and when he cues Chanâhe faces your parents and gets on his knees, forehead to the ground as you yourself bow, back parallel to the floor as they both nod.
And then you turn to Jessica and Jack, along with Hannah who were watching by Chan's side, and then while Felix takes the bouquet in your hand, you properly fix your dress, get on your knees, and press your forehead against the floor. It wasn't planned, the getting on the floor at least, it was expected you bow but not to the full extent, dress and all. A bit flabbergasted, Chan immediately helps you up after the 10 second stay, "Baby, you didn't have to," he whispers as his family bows back, "I wanted to," you reassure him, patting your dress and veil off as Felix hands back your bouquet.
Then, both of you bow to each other, 90 degrees and perfectly still and solemn.
A surrender of half of yourself to him, and taking half of his. A vow unbent by law and a promise unbroken by love.
The ceremony continues, a bunch more expletives and legalities before JYP senses your growing impatience as he clears his throat and starts with the vows. Your guide is tucked in the bouquet, in between the peonies and roses but you knew it wouldn't really matter much. Chan also has his in his breast pocket, pulling it out before taking the microphone and taking your shaky hand into his'.
"We met during my trainee days. You were working your way into being an intern while I was wallowing in a thin line between courage and impatience, waiting to debut," a pointed look to your officiant, "It was sorta unexpected. You gave me a free drink during your part time job and we suddenly got to talking for hours, I got your number and I headed back to the dorms. I never knew I sealed my fate back then, and looking back at it now, I will never trade a thing for it," he sighs out, looking up so that he doesn't start crying.
You smile lovingly at him, assuring him that if he cries you'll simply laugh it off as a fond memory, not like you'd fare any better than him anyway.
"When I debuted, you were one of the first people I told," he laughs, a bit airy, "I could never forget the squeal that nearly ruptured my eardrums, that was the day I realized I might've liked you," and then you giggle. "You got your dream job during our second comeback. I will never forget that because I was with you, we were watching a movie when you got your acceptance call. That was also the first time you hugged me. You were so happy and in turn it made me happy, that was the moment I thought 'What I'd give to always feel like this', so I sought after that. I sought after you,"
He takes a gulp down of his tears, "You are my hero. You make me happy, so happy. I'd give the moon and stars but you seem to always beat me to it, I always feel loved and cared for by you. And as we make our way to infinity, to a forever only we can create, I want to love and care for you until my lungs give out and I'm an old wrinkly grandpa,"
"I promise to forever cherish youâyour laughter and smiles, and all the other things that make you do your happy dance," he tucks the paper away and takes your hand instead, "And I vow to forever protect the love that you give me. To hold it close and never betray that,"
And he starts holding back a wide, goofy smile, making you groan preemptively as he clears his throat, "And hey, I'm not our wedding photographer," he shrugs and takes a comedic look at his bestmen, "But I can picture us together. Forever."
Laughter choruses throughout the chapel while you lightly smack him on the arm, laughing as you roll your eyes at the corny pick-up line. Of course he fucking would.
Handing the microphone over to you, you pick off the paper nestled between the flowers before unfurling it open, "Chanathan," you start, making him throw his head back in laughter, "Was the name I used to tease you with when I asked for your name during that time we met at the cafe. I can't believe that our vows kinda match, but it its the testament if just how much we're soulmates," you look up at him, not reading off the paper.
"It was Chanathan, then Chan, then Channie, then Chris. Then my Christopher. It's like a stake of claim on you," you jokingly quip, "But throughout those times and those names, was also the evolution of our relationship. And I have never been more glad to open up this new era of calling you nothing but husband. My husband Chan, my husband Christopher, my husband Chanathan," you smile up at him, seeing his humored look despite the fond eyes he has for you.
"And I promise to honor every sense of your name, whether its carrying your's or speaking of you. I always have been and always will be proud of you, and not a day would go by where you wouldn't know that," you choke up a bit, voice getting trembly, "There will be nights and weeks and months when we'd be apart, but our souls, and my loyalty would always be unbreakable,"
You take his hand and press a kiss on it through your veil, feeling your heart squeeze in delight as a strangled cry escapes him, "I vow to love you, now and forevermore, and we can be cute little wrinkly old people together till the end of time. I will always be proud to be your wife, and will also make you constantly proud to call your home, I love you, Christopher,"
"I love you too," he whispers and squeezes your hand once more.
"Now," JYP beckons for the ring bearers, "For better or for worse, through sickness and health, and until death do you part," he starts before you slip a paper towards him which gives you quite the stern look, simply making Chan chuckle, "And as you drink from his cup, and he drinks from yours, the first and last sonata you'll sing, with the neverending dread of betrayal hung over the crux of your necks, take these rings," he then signals you to take each other's rings, shaky hands delicately holding them, "And swear,"
Chan goes first, sliding your wedding band on the yhe ring finger of your presented hand. After comes him, with you nervously taking his and slipping on the shiny gold band on his finger. And then you both hold hands, both of yours warmly enclosed in his' as your officiant gives a nod of approval. "You can remove her veil now," he covers the microphone and mutters to Chan who has to take a deep breath to brace himself.
Taking the hem of your veil, he carefully turns it and the white cast is finally gone, seeing his face so clearly you fall in love again. So easily, and so quickly. "Do you, Christopher Bahng, take Y/N L/N as your lawfully wedded wife?"
He smiles at you, "I do,"
"And do you, Y/N L/N, take Christopher Bahng as your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do,"
"Then, you may now kiss your bride," he announces as Chan places a loving hand on your waist, one on your cheek before pulling you forward and you cup his cheeks, kissing him with fervent love and passion. It was a mere press to his lips, but the love overflowing was so much you both start crying.
The cheers and claps echo through the chapel before he departs and guides your hand to hook against his arm. "Hello wifey,"
"Mhm, husband," you giggle while wiping your tears with the pads of your fingers, pressing another kiss to his cheek, before moving forward and retreating out the aisle.
Your smile is so wide it hurts your cheeks, a hearty laugh escapes your husband as both of you run down the aisle, hand in hand.
Y/N Bang. You could get used to it.

early riser
waking up after chan had become customary in the household. he liked to be up early to get started on his days. it was that habit that broke his early twenties love for staying up until the sun was peeking out over the horizon, and he was better for it. he more energetic and you could see him before noon.
when you got up, your husband would be in the kitchen making breakfast or already getting started on work. he greeted you full of smiles, soft words, and a million kisses. he'd wrap his arms around you and pull you into a big hug, telling you all about his morning and how much he'd missed you in the few hours out of bed.
he wouldn't dare disturb your sleep even if he needed your help with anything, telling you that 'beauty rest comes first'. he'd always have breakfast and your drink of choice ready, everything organized to make your mornings perfect. if you had to go to work, he'd have meals packed and ready, cooked and prepared in advance.
to chan, being a good spouse was what fulfilled him. he cared about making you happy through providing everything you needed. his tendency to be an early riser seemed to pay off, making your mornings stress-free. and there was no leaving the house without a dozen more kisses goodbye.

chris absolutely loves when you kiss his cock before taking him in your mouth, especially when you start at the base and slowly work your way up. the soft pressure of your lips against him makes him so incredibly hard so fast that he feels like he might cum just from that alone. if you fondle his balls while slowly licking a long stripe from base to his leaky tip, he swears he sees stars, especially if you kiss it after. also loves when you take only the tip into your mouth, swirling your tongue around it, licking up his precum to tease him, then pull off to kiss his thighs and lower abdomen while stroking him gently. like imagine the pretty faces and sounds he'd make, the way he'd probably toss his head back, chuckling and hissing softly, shivering cause of how good it feels. his eyes roll back so hard when he feels you moan against his cock too. definitely the type to take fistfuls of your hair and thrust up into your mouth a little bit, cause that makes him antsy since it feels so good. when he cums it's such a sight, should be recorded and put in a fuckin' museum, cause he just looks and sounds too good. definitely a back archer and let's out the loudest, prettiest moans and sighs. he'd just be sooo fuckin' vocal. uses his words too cause he can't go without telling you how good you're being for him. "that's it, baby, your pretty lips feel so good 'round my cock. just like that." "gonna cum in that cute lil mouth of yours. you want it, pretty baby?" "god, you're so good at getting me all worked up, know how to tease me just right. should reward you for that later, hmm?"

Slow morning | bang chan x reader | 615 w.
When you hear birds chirping and bright lights penetrating your eyes, you stir in your sleep, a little uneasy. You try to regain your consciousness quickly when you feel an empty space next to you. That is when you realize that you slept throughout the whole night. Something that doesnât happen much for the last 4 months. You slowly slip out of the bed, tying your hair in a ponytail.
Your feet take you to the connected room, the door slightly ajar. When you peek inside, you find out the reason for your undisturbed sleep last night. Watching as Chris sleeps on the armchair next to the crib. One of his hands stretched out inside the crib, your daughter faintly trying to reach it with her small hands. Padding across the carpeted floor, you take a moment to bask in the scenery. Your eyes caught a glimpse of your husbandâs phone on top of the changing table. Quietly picking it up, you snap a picture of the moment when your baby responds with a soft giggle. You send the picture to yourself before placing the phone back down and picking up your daughter.
You take a look at your daughter, judging if she needs a change of diaper before you prepare breakfast. But it seems like sheâs already in a good mood. You took two slices of bread and put it on the toaster. While waiting, you took out a cup from the cabinet and poured yourself milk.
âDid you have a good night's sleep baby?â you ask your daughter with a small voice. She responds with a grabbing motion to your face, smiling. You took a sip from your cup, feeling a little bit better than usual.
âGood morning,â you heard a sleepy voice from behind you, followed by a pair of strong arms circling your stomach. Chris sinks his head in your nape, giving it feather kisses. âSleep okay?â
âGood morning, baby,â you respond, tilting your head to meet his. âI had the best sleep.â
âGood, good, you look so tired,â he said again, not letting you go even as you tried to move. You only laugh in response. Tired is the default look for newborn parents, thatâs for sure. But heâs sensible enough to take a month off after you give birth. When you feel like youâve got the pace of being a mom, you assure him that itâs okay if he wants to come back to the studio. It took the both of you a week to settle on that, and he never stays too far away from his phone, in case you need him right away. He also took a drastic change in his working hours, coming home early to help you take care of the house, and trying not to leave too early in the morning just to bid goodbye to your daughter.
âCoffee?â you offer him.
âYes, please,â he answers, finally letting you move freely. âLet me take her,â he said again, reaching for the baby. You turn to position the baby comfortably before returning to the pantry. He took a seat at the dining table, starting his baby talk that never makes you not smile, asking your daughter all kinds of questions.
You set down his coffee cup along with a sandwich you quickly assemble on the table. With that, you murmur a soft âthank you,â leaning forward to place a kiss on his lips.
âWhat for?â he asks, putting on a confused face.
âFor making me the luckiest woman in the world,â you respond with a smile.
âBaby,â he said, taking his chance to lean in and return your kiss, âYouâre not the only lucky one.â

Hi, I'm here to make a request because i desperatey seek some comfort lately and since we are moots and i like your writing i thought i ask but feel free to ignore it. đ
So I thought about the reader having a toxic family and because of that a very low self-esteem and the member (I would prefer Chan or Felix but honestly you can pick whoever you want) finds her crying because of her family and comforts her. And then she is like "Why are you even dating me?" and the member tells her how how much he loves her and how beautiful and kinde, etc. she is.
It's up to you how toxic you want her family to be. please only write what you feel comfortable with.
I just have some trouble with my own family lately. I hope you are better and remember to stay hydrated! đ
Family...Family?
chan x fem. reader
genre: angst, hurt/comfort
warnings: toxic family, slight cursing, slight injury (just scratches), crying, anxiety
word count: 2,3k
a/n: hey <33 thank you for the request, and i hope it brings you some comfort. sorry that it took so long! and thank u for the kind words. i hope ur family situation is okay, feel free to talk to me. take care and now enjoy<333
not proofread!
You sat on the cold floor, your back facing the wall. Altough you tried your best not to break down, you couldnât hold it in anymore. Tears ran down your face, followed with pained sobs. You pulled your knees up to your chin, and wrapped your arms around yourself in an attempt for comfort. It didnât help.
What brought this break down was nothing really new for you. Your family making fun of you, and yelling hurtful words at you was something you always knew. But this time, it was just too much.
When your mother called you just before, you didnât even want to pick up, but she was your mother right? And she sounded nice and warmhearted at the beginning. You almost didnât want to believe it. And unfortunately you were right with not believing that forced sweet voice. After the small talk, she got to the point immediately.
Your own mother had the audicity to beg for money from your boyfriend. And she didnât even have a good reason. It was so your brothers girlfriend wouldnât leave him. As stupid as it sounded thatâs what it was. Your brother was younger than you, and you always tried to think positively, that maybe you were just being unfair, but deep down you exactly knew that he always got better things than you. He went to a expensive private school, and you on a normal one. He got the newest i-phones, headphones and gaming tools, and you had only the old phone from him. He one time destroyed it with purpose, and what did your parents say? They were sure it was an accident and you sure were old enough to pay for your own phone. And the worst was he wasnât even thankful.
And you don't even want to think about grades. He didn't care at all about school, having the worst grades ever. You? If you got two points less in a test, your parents would call you a failure, and then give you the silent treatment for days. You were just glad you finished school, and didn't have to share anything about university with them.
When you asked your mother for money one time, when you couldnât afford a bus ticket, such a simple thing, she didnât give it to you. Saying that you had healthy legs, and your family needed money for more important things. It was always like that.
So now your brother had the fakest girlfriend ever. She always smiled around your parents, and that was everything she needed to do so they would like her. She always begged your brother to buy her things, and he never hesitated to do so. But no, he didnât even take his own money. It was your parentsâ. It was unbelievable noone saw what big of a gold digger she was. But when you moved out, you stopped trying to tell them that things were unfair, you stopped letting them treat you as if you were just a problem, that they had to tolerate.
And now your mom really had the audicity to want to take advantage of chans career and money. You could almost laugh. She always despised chan, telling you that he was not the one, and that she was sure that he was a cheater and someone that would leave you when he saw the next best girl. That was so rich coming from a woman, that cheated on her husband on a monthly base.
And coming back to the call, of course you said no. And after you said this one word, the bittersweet tone immediately dropped. She said something about what a bad family member you were, not caring for your family, when you had so much money, and your family needed it. When you still said no, she started yelling at you. You hated when she yelled. And when you couldnât stand it anymore, you told her what of a shitty mother she has always been, and that she was the unfair one. That your whole family was just toxic, and that nothing was okay like this. That it always was like this. And maybe you should have hung up the call then. For a moment it was just silence. Then she let out a bitter, faked sob, before she literally screamed:
âYou think we were unfair to you? You always had enough to eat, and a roof over your head. We never were unfair. Your brother is young, and he deserves to have love, so why wonât you help him? You are such a spoiled, little ungrateful brat y/n! I wish i never had you. Your father is stressed out because of your little manners, and your brother has to suffer because of you. And if i would ask you for money for food? I bet you wouldnât even give us that! But okay, continue being the biggest bad decision of my life, with your spoiled, stupid singer boyfriend. And when he leaves your bitchy ass donât come and beg for our forgiveness. Have a shitty life y/n, we wonât have contact anymore.Oh and just so you know, if you think you could ever be good enough for someone, you are living a lie.â
Then she hung up. Just like this. You always tried to convince yourself, that she had just a bad day, when she was like this. That it was hard to be a mother and a wife. But now you saw it clear. She wasnât just like this because it was her weird way of caring or something. She just simply despised you. Probably she wouldnât if you were a boy.
But then her words. Was she right? You were always envious of your brother, and all the things he got, also if you didnât care as much anymore as you got older. But maybe you were ungratefull. What if chan thought the same and just didnât leave you because he felt pity for you? Were you a brat without even really knowing it?
You wrapped your arms tighter around yourself, as your tears got only more, and your thoughts continued spiraling. Maybe you should beg her for forgiveness, like you always did. You shouldnât have yelled at her like this, she was your mother and she was right, she always gave you to eat and a roof over the head. So you were being unfair maybeâŚ
Then slowly, another thought crept up in your mind. Her life would be easier without you. And your brothers and fathers too. Maybe chans and all your friends too. Were you really just a burden? It had to be like this, when the person you knew your whole life said thatâŚright?
You didnât notice how loud you were sobbing, and how hard you were digging your fingers into your head, tangled in your hair, as if you wanted to just rip the thoughts out of your head. Then the front door of your shared apartment opened. But between your loud thoughts, the sobbing and the slight ringing in your ears you didnât hear it.
Chanâs day was exhausting, and he was just looking forward to snuggle up on the couch with you. When he got in the apartment he wanted to say that he was home, but a noise immediately caught his attention. Sobs, pained and muffled. His eyes grew wide. Did something happen? He quickly kicked his shoes off and dropped his bag to the floor, and then ran into your shared bedroom. His heart broke when he saw you sitting curled up on the floor, sobbing hard, hands tangled in your hair. He quickly ran over to you, crouching down next to you. âY/nnie, oh my god is everything alright, are you hurt?â he spoke with a desperate, concerned voice.
You only noticed his presence now, but you didnât dare to look up, the words from your mother present in your mind.
Chan got only more scared when you just didnât look up, and instead gripped your hair tighter. He gently but firmly grabbed your wrists, pulling your hands out your hair. You tried to fight him off, and you started screaming between sobs.
âLet me go, i donât care, please, iâm not worth it.â
Chan had no idea what you meant. You just tried to scratch him with your nails so he would let go. What was going on? He never ever saw you like this. This wasnât you. But for sure he wouldnât let go and let you hurt yourself.
âY/n, stop scratching me, and iâm for sure not letting go. Just try to calm down, and tell me what is going on right now.â His voice was stern but unbelievable soft. You still fought him, your nails leaving bright red scratches on his wrists, sobbing violently. Why wasnât he letting go when you were clearly hurting him? Why wasnât he getting mad and yelling at you? Why wasnât he just giving up on you like everyone else when you were like this?
But then he suddenly started gently stroking your head, with one hand, your wrists in his other one. The motion was soft and definitely not violent or madly. You stopped scratching him, and screaming your own horrible thoughts in chans face. You just looked at him now, tears streaming down your face, sobs getting quiet.
He gently smiled.
âSee? Everythings alright, no reason to hurt or scream at me my love.â He slowly released your wrists, continuing brushing over your hair soothingly.
You were confused. How was he smiling in this situation. How could he still touch you so lovingly when you just screamed in his face and hurt him? When you looked at his wrists you felt guilty.
Chan saw your body slump as you calmed down, now only silent tears rolling over your cheeks anymore.
He just looked at you, giving you time to calm down. He then slowly wrapped his arms around you, stroking your back. Â Your tears were falling onto his hoodie, and you didnât even really register when he lifted you up the floor, carrying you to the bed. He gently laid you down, and sat down next to you. He waited a bit before he spoke up again.
âLove, i need you to talk to me a bit now okay? I need to know what happened that got you feeling and acting like this, so i can help and comfort you alright? I know this wasnât you, and i know there has to be a reason why you were breaking down like this. Just know you can tell me everything. Donât pretend with me love.â
You sat up against the wall a bit, sniffling.
âIâm sorry i hurt you, i donât know what got into me.â You mumble, looking at your own hands fidgeting with the hem of your shirt.
âI know you are sorry. Itâs alright, it doesnât hurt, it only hurted to see you like this.â
He waits for you to talk again, patiently looking at you.
âIt was my mother. She called.â
His eyes softened. He knew that your relationship with your family wasnât the best, and they werenât that kind to you.
Then you told him everything, every word your mother said and all your thoughts to it. Your last sentence hurt him deeper than anything else.
ââŚHow can you even be with someone like me? Iâm messed up and ungrateful and just a burden-â
He took your hands in his, looking you in the eyes.
âY/n L/n, if you ever talk about yourself like this again i will have to worry you actually lost your mind. What your mother said, was horrible. And i want you to understand that all of that is not true. Youâve never been a burden to me, and you never could be. And did you just say you believe your not thankful enough? You y/n? The person who gets excited over the smallest things, the person who was so sweet and grateful when i forgot our anniversary and only gifted you a flower? You never wanted me for my money y/n, and you know that, and i know it too. That was always a big fear of mine, that people would only want me for money, my job and stuff. But you proved me wrong. You always loved me for me. If even, i should be happy you even want to be with me. You are the kindest, funniest and best person i know. And no matter what happens, i will always stay with you, as long as you want it. And iâll make sure these people will never hurt you again. And you know what? I can be your family. I will always love and support you. And if you fall? Then iâm falling with you. And then we get up again, with the help of each other. Exactly like a family should.â
Tears welled up in your eyes again. But this time they werenât from sadness and the feeling of not being good enough.
âI canât tell you how much your words mean to me channie.â You said, a little smile creeping to your face.
He smiled too and wrapped his arms around you from the side again, putting his head on your shoulder. Â
âThatâs the smile i love.â
You wrapped your arms around him too, nuzzling your face into his hair.
âI love my new family.â you murmured.
âHow about we make it official?â he lifts his head, so he can look into your eyes.
âWhat do you mean?â You hold your breath, as you let his words sink in.
âMarry me y/n. I promise to be there for you, no matter what comes.â
For a moment it felt like the whole world stayed still. Did this wonderful man really want to be with you for the rest of his life?
Then a big joyful smile spread across your face, the tear streaks from before seemed as if they were years ago now. The joy literally radiated from you now.
âYes, channie. Yes iâd love to be your wife.â

Chapter 12
Bang Chan
For three weeks, neither Aria or I spoke to each other till it hit Christmas week. Everything I did to try to apologise to her was in vain. She declined a date, shut herself in her room when I was at home, she was the one who was neglecting me.
While she was giving me her silent treatment, I flew to Paris during those weeks to pay a visit to our second largest headquarters before returning home with my parents to spend the holidays.
Leaving the city felt good but coming back to my minimalistic living room turned to some catalog-ready, idyllic Christmas wonderland, with a huge white tree and lights decorating my walls felt suffocating.
Oh for Christ's sake.
It looks like she took use of my Amex I left on her night stand before my depature.
Aria gave occasional smiles and a "dinner's ready" since my parents are staying at my place till the New Years, but her cold shoulder towards me felt more pronounced than ever even though she played a happy wife around her in law's.
And it was not that I cared.
Yes you do.
Burning pain and guilt crawled up my skin as I sat alone in the quiet living room, the twinkling Christmas lights mocking me with their false cheer. The weight of our distance began pressing down on me relentlessly.
Why did it feel like everything was unraveling? This was supposed to be easy, clean-cut, no complications. A contract, a simple arrangement to keep things professional and manageable. But nothing about this felt manageable anymore.
This shouldn't affect me this much, since I was the one who kept pushing Aria away when she tried to talk to me. I should be happy that now she was the one distancing herself, giving me the space I wanted.
But I wasn't happy. Far from it.
The reality of her absence, even when she was physically present right now, gnawed at me. The silent treatment, the cold glances, the avoidanceâit all hurt more than I cared to admit.
I didn't feel bad when I did the exact same thing to her but when she did it to me, it fucking burned like drowning in lava.
Narcissistic bastard
"Christopher." A sudden rough voice, calling out my name pulled me away from my thoughts. I looked up to find my my father standing at the end of the couch, his hand holding a glass of soda with ice.
"Hello, father" I sat up straight on the couch as my father's hand clapped my back, he took a seat next to me. He took a sip of his drink, keeping the glass on the coffee table with a gentle clink, turning to me with a somewhat worried expression.
"What's wrong? Why are you sulking?" He asked as he leaned back on the couch, his eyes studying me intently.
I sighed, glancing away to avoid his piercing gaze. "It's nothing. Just... thinking."
He frowned, the lines on his forehead deepening. "Thinking about what?"
"Just work and the launch," I took a deep breath hoping he'll not ask about my marriage. My father didn't know and didn't need to know about the contract or the agreement Aria and I had.
He narrowed his eyes, clearly not convinced. "Work, huh? You sure that's all it is?"
I forced a smile, trying to sound convincing. "Yeah, just a lot on my plate."
He nodded slowly, but his expression remained skeptical. "Christopher, sometimes it helps to talk about what's really bothering you. Bottling things up never does any good."
I shifted uncomfortably, the weight of his words pressing down on me. "I appreciate the concern father, but it's really just work."
He nodded slowly, taking another sip of his soda, the ice clinking softly.
"About Aria..." He started cautiously, I maintained my neutral expression trying not to let the tension in my chest show.
"She's being distant," he continued, his tone gentle yet probing. "Is everything okay between you two?"
I took a deep breath, grappling with how much to reveal. "We've hit a rough patch," I admitted finally, choosing my words carefully. He studied me intently and his eyes narrowed.
"Rough patch...I see."
The the air in living room suddenly felt harder to breath, as if the room was getting smaller and smaller. My father and I rarely ever have conversations that doesn't involve the company or his advices on settling down. Although the latter was put to end 3 months ago, a lingering pressure of a certain deadline felt heavy on me.
"Look son," My father begun slowly, for the first time in a long time, his voice was close to gentle.
"Your mother and I wanted the best for you. We know you are smart enough to lead the company one day which we never doubted,"
My breathing suddenly began increasing as if I was running laps.
"But you're the heir to Aurelius, and we couldn't have the heir to such a prestigious company go wild and jeopardize everything we've built." he continued, his voice tinged with concern.
"We had given you freedom your whole life, but it was time you came back to the real world."
I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of his words settling heavily on my shoulders. The mention of Aurelius, our family's legacy, always brought with it a sense of duty and expectation. It was something I sometimes struggled to live up to even though after returning to the States, I devoted all my time for work.
"We knew you disliked getting married this soon, but Aria is a wonderful woman. She's smart, capable, and she surely genuinely cares about you," my father continued, his voice now filled with a mixture of empathy and firmness.
My eyes fell on the floor, my fingers tapping on the arm of the couch as his words resonated deeply within me. Aria had impressed me with her intelligence and kindness, yet, amidst the pressures of our arrangement and my own uncertainties, I had let those qualities fade into the background.
"I'm not going to bother you with marital advices like most fathers, but remember this," His voice was cautious yet determined.
"Every relationship has its ups and downs. What matters is how you handle the downs. But it's also in your hands to choose how you respond."
His words sunk deeper than it should. It was a reminder that despite the challenges, I had the power to influence the course of my marriage no matter long or short it is. Memories of our argument a few weeks ago flooded my brain.
"You're not just responsible for your actions, but also for your reactions," he continued, "Take ownership of your mistakes, but also be proactive in making things right."
He gulped down the last of his soda and got off the couch. And that was it.
My father wasn't the type to sit down and have long heartfelt conversations. Once he says what he has to say, he left it to resonate. Whether you take it or not, it's your choice.
"Merry Christmas, Christopher." He looked down at me, a small smile playing in the corner of his lips but if someone else saw it, they would hardly consider it a smile.
"Merry Christmas, Dad."
He left to the guest room, leaving me in the empty living room, having me replay his advice over and over in my head.
I went up to my room a few moments later, hesitating to open the door as Aria and I decided to stay in one place while my parents were here.
I slowly twisted the handle and stepped inside, Aria was on the bed with her tablet open, her legs crossed at the ankles and the night lamps on each side of the bed casting a soft warm glow.
She looked at me briefly for a second then shifted her focus on her screen. We had been staying in my room for 3 nights but every time I entered she'd be sleeping or when she was here I'd be in my study downstairs.
Tonight, we were both here.
I sat at the edge of the bed, resting my elbows on my knees as I watched Aria from the corner of eye doing what she was doing on her tablet. The silence between us felt thick and heavy, like an unspoken barrier neither of us were willing to breach.
"Aria..." I began, my voice almost a whisper. I had to swallow my pride and try to fix some part of this.
Because as much as I loved that we were living the way I wantedâseparate lives when no one was lookingâ it fucked me up to the core when she pulled away completely.
She paused, her fingers halting on the screen, but she didn't look up. I took a deep breath and continued, "Aria, talk to me."
"What do you want me to say Chris? I thought this was what you wanted." she replied, her voice laced with frustration and resignation.
"I thought it was, too," I admitted, the words feeling heavy on my tongue. The words that would come out next didn't sound real to my own ears.
"But I didn't realize how much it would hurt to be," I swallowed the lump in my throat, "distant from you."
She finally looked up from her tablet, her eyes searching mine for any sign of sincerity.
"Hurt?" she echoed, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. "You didn't seem to care when you pushed me away, when you made it clear this marriage was just a temporary agreement."
Fucking hell.
Every word that came out of her mouth felt like injecting venom into my bloodstream. But she was right. I couldn't understand why it fucking hurt so much when it shouldn't and when I didn't even want to care.
"Look Chris," She said, her voice softening but the tension still palpable.
"First of all, I apologize for lashing out on you and confronting you like that. I was just... I don't know why I was expecting more when you yourself told me not to. So, I'm sorry."
I stared at her, feeling a mix of frustration and guilt. Her apology, though sincere, only deepened the chasm between us.
"Aria, you don't need to apologize," I said, my voice strained.
She shook her head, her expression weary. "It doesn't change the fact that we both agreed to this arrangement. We both knew what we were getting into, or well now I realise."
"Aria, Iâ" I started, but she cut me off, her voice sharp. "Don't," she said, her eyes flashing with pain. "Don't say anything or try to make promises you can't keep. It just makes it harder for the both of us."
I clenched my fists, struggling to find the right words, each of her words hitting me like a punch to the gut.
"Get some rest Chris," She closed her tablet, keeping it on the night stand next to her, switching off the night lamp on her side. "I'm sure you must have had a long day."
The dismissal was clear, but the tension between us lingered. I wanted to say something more, to fill the gap, but the heaviness of her words and exhaustion stopped me.
I stood up from the edge of the bed and walked to my side, the room feeling colder, even if the heating was on. I switched off my own lamp, casting the room into darkness, the faint glow of the moonlight filtering through the curtains.
I heard her shift slightly, the sound of the sheets rustling as she turned away from me. The silence stretched on, heavy and suffocating.
There was a lot to make up for, a lot to prove, and I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to bridge the gap I created.
But if this is how it's gonna be, then so be it.
The less attached we are, the easier it will be for me to leave her.
***
Christmas morning started with the soft glow of early sunlight filtering through the curtains, casting a warm, golden hue over the room. I woke up to find the space next to me empty, the sheets cool where Aria had slept.
I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, and glanced around the room. Aria's tablet was gone from the nightstand, and I could hear faint movements from downstairs.
With a sigh, I got out of bed, freshened up and dressed quickly in a pair of grey sweatpants and black t-shirt, the tension from last night still hanging over me like a dark cloud but I pushed it away.
I had better things to do that care about her silent treatment.
As I descended the stairs, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods wafted up, reminding me of the warmth of Christmas traditions. My parents were already up, seated in the dinning room, sipping their coffee and chatting quietly.
I had given the week off for Delilah and Daniel, Aria was probably alone in the kitchen preparing breakfast.
"Good morning," I greeted my parents, forcing a smile as I joined them.
"Morning, Christopher," my father replied, his gaze lingering on me with a faint hint of concern. My mother, ever perceptive, gave me a small, knowing smile.
"Hello son, good morning," she greeted warmly, though I could see the silent questions in her gaze. Questions I wasnât ready to answer, not now, maybe not ever.
I returned the smile and took a seat in the dinning roon, pouring myself a cup of coffee. After a moment, I got up and to maintain the "happy couple" in front of my parents, I went to the kitchen and spotted Aria.
Her movements were precise and efficient as she busied herself in the kitchen, I hesitated for a moment, then moved to help her.
"Can I do anything to help?"
"Oh, hey Chris. Sorry I didn't see you," She said softly and her voice didn't feel forced.
"Yeah, I'd like some help. Can you take this to the dining table?" She pointed at the tray of a Christmas breakfast casserole.
"Sure," I said putting on a pair of oven mitts and picking up the tray, carrying it out to the table where my parents were seated.
After setting the table and once Aria joined us, the festive atmosphere passed by as we made small talk about the holiday plans, progressions about Aurelius and reminisced about past Christmases during breakfast, but there was a slight underlying tension between the two of us.
"Honey, let's not talk about work during a holiday," my mother said to my father as he started discussing the stock market with Aria.
She smiled back softly, almost interested in what he was saying anyway. âItâs okay, really. I donât mind.â
I watched her closely, trying to decipher her thoughts. Was she genuinely okay, or was she just saying that for the sake of keeping the peace? I couldnât tell what she was really feeling anymore.
I stayed there quitely watching her converse with my father. After the meals, we exchanged the presents in the living room, I watched as Aria unwrapped hers with a polite smile which she received from my parents.
"Oh Mother, Father, this is beautiful...Thank you,"
My parents exchanged a glance, visibly pleased by her reaction. "You're most welcome, darling," my mother replied warmly. "We thought you might like it."
"I love it. It's perfect," Aria's smile widened, a hint of gratitude sparkling in her eyes as she carefully set the gift a side.
When it was her turn, she handed out gifts with a grace that masked the strain between us. Finally, she handed me a small, neatly wrapped present. There was a small handwritten note attached on top.
To Chris, -Aria âĄ
"Merry Christmas, Christopher," she said, our knees almost touching, her voice was slightly distant but soft, the golden lights of the tree sparkling in her eyes. I took her gift, feeling an unwanted lump in my throat as well as a mixture of gratitude.
As I carefully unwrapped it, I found a beautifully crafted, black leather journal with my initials embossed on the cover in cursive golden letters. The leather was soft to the touch, and as I ran my fingers over the smooth surface, I noticed the impeccable craftsmanship that went into its making.
Then I remembered that night in the kitchenâ
It started with us making handmade journals, greeting cards, and personalized gifts for friends and family. People loved our designs and the personal touch, so we decided to turn it into a business.
It was thoughtful and felt really personal, a stark contrast to the tension that had defined our interactions lately.
"Wow..." I was lost for words, genuinely touched. "This is... really nice."
She gave me a small nod, the lights glittering in her gaze, flickering with a mixture of emotions I couldn't quite decipher, but a wide smile playing across her face.
"I thought it might help you organize your thoughts."
I nodded, swallowing hard, a rush of warm feelings settling in my chest. "It's perfect. Thank you so much." I smiled at her.
When it was my turn, I reached for a small, elegant blue velvet box nestled among the pile of gifts under the tree. The box was adorned with a subtle embossed logo of Aurelius and silver ribbon on the top right corner.
"Merry Christmas, Aria."
My heart raced rapidly as I handed it to her, unsure of how she would react after our weeks of cold shoulders. Her eyes widened slightly as she took the box, her fingers tracing the smooth velvet texture.
The tension in the room seemed to ebb momentarily as she slowly lifted the lid, revealing a stunning limited edition watch nestled inside. The timepiece was crafted with meticulous detail, featuring a delicate mother-of-pearl dial adorned with subtle diamond accents, and a slim, polished silver bracelet.
Along the watch was a matching bracelet, that was crafted with the same accents of diamonds and silver. And only ten pieces have been manufactured till today.
"Oh, Chris..." Aria breathed, her voice barely above a whisper as she admired the watch with awe. Her eyes continued to sparkle with a mixture of surprise and gratitude, a genuine smile spreading across her face.
Aria looked up at me, her expression softening. "Thank you," she said sincerely, her fingers gently tracing the contours of the watch. "Thank you so much. It's, it's so beautiful."
For the first time in a long time, her smile wasnât forced, and that simple gesture sent a strange warmth coursing through my chest, unsettling me.
All my life I had always been focused on practicality, on maintaining control and distance. Emotions were a complication I rarely entertained. But now, seeing Aria's genuine appreciation, I felt something I couldn't quite explain.
"You're welcome," I replied, my voice softer than usual. "I'm glad you like it."
Aria carefully placed the watch and bracelet back in the box, her movements gentle and reverent. "You really didn't have to go to such lengths," she said, her eyes meeting mine. "But it means a lot to me."
"You deserve the best" I managed to say gently, swallowing the lump in my throat. But I meant every word.
She really deserves the best.
And I fucking sucked at being emotional.
All these feelings of warmth and tenderness were foreign to me, and frankly, I didn't like how they made me feel. Vulnerable and raw.
I could feel the gazes of my parents watching the two of us from the corner of my eyes. I suddenly felt exposed, like they could see through the mask Iâd perfected over the years.
The rest of the day passed in a blur. Lunch came and went, my friends Seungmin, Han, Changbin, Lee Know and I.N arrived, their presence filling the house with easy banter and laughter.
Felix and Hyunjin were off in Paris and Milan, attending Christmas galas for Louis Vuitton and Versace, and for a moment, I envied them. The simplicity of their distance, the absence of emotional complications.
The house was filled with chatter, providing a welcome distraction from the tension that had been lingering in my mind. Aria mingled effortlessly with everyone, her laughter and smiles so convincing that it was easy to forget the strain between us.
Although at this moment, I couldn't say if I was pretending for real or just pretending for the sake of it.

Hubby: Guess what I got???
A picture arrived a second later of three plane tickets, all with the same destination: Seoul, South Korea. A flash of shock hit me and my fingers worked faster than my brain could process.Â
âIsnât it awesome?! My parents helped pay for them so donât worry, I didnât spend too much money. Well, not yet anyways. Iâm going to buy a snow suit for Celeste because sheâs never seen snow before and sheâll want to play in it because if sheâs anything like me but thatâs beside the point!â Chris was so excited and when he was excited, he rambled about everything and anything. A change that occurred after he became a dad, but a welcome one at that. Getting him to share his feelings wasnât too too hard when I came along, but ever since his daughter was born, he was a babbling mess. A good change, really. After five years, heâd really mellowed out with her safety. She had too many clothes to begin with with the overexcitement of her arrival from her uncles, but now she was down to only a few new outfits a week, and now he at least acted like he was thinking about it when he changed his mind from a ânoâ to a âyesâ. He couldnât deny his little girl anything.Â
âChris, she has snow clothes. Her grandmother bought some for her the last time we went to Korea in the winter just in case it snowed, which sheâs still upset about.â
âI know, the weather app is stupid, they never know anything.â
âChris! She has enough clothes! Weâre going to have to give her our master closet if you keep buying her more things!â He was quiet to this, like he was actually thinking about the logistics of it. âBabe, sheâs not getting our closet.â
âI know!â
âYou were thinking about it though.â
â...Maybe. Then I was thinking about everything else I could buy her with all that room.â
âChrisâŚâ I said warningly.Â
âIâm done, Iâm done. Sheâs not getting our closet.â
âGood.â
âBut she is getting a snow suit. Okay, love you, bye!â I clutched my phone as he hung up, shaking my head and wondering where in the world he was going to put one more thing she didnât need. It wasnât like he was buying nonsense, it was just that he couldnât tell her no if she really wanted something. He was a good dad like that.Â
Me: Christmas with the uncles sounds good :)Â
Hubby: Start packing. We leave in three days :)Â
Me: Wonât mom be upset we wonât be in Sydney for the holiday?
Hubby: My mom will be fine, sheâs used to holidays without me.Â
Me: Donât remind meÂ
Hubby: Itâs yours we have to worry about.Â
It was true, I was worried that my mother would be upset about a holiday without her grandchild. She loved them more than anything, cherished her truly. The more I thought about it, the worse I felt about it.Â
Hubby: Weâll tell her together. Weâre adults now, we can choose to spend the holidays wherever we like.Â
Always reading my mind, my husband.Â
The front door opened and shut, letting in the Sydney breeze along with it and a head of dark hair waltzed right in. Heading straight for the fridge, she reached for a small bag of apple slices just out of her reach.Â
âMommy!â
âYes, baby, do you need some help?â I was already off my stool at the kitchen island and heading towards her.Â
âYes please!â She turned her shining eyes towards me, just as warm and comforting as her fatherâs. Her smile pushed her round cheeks upwards toward her eyes, just like his. Chan said she had my nose and he was more thankful for that than anything. He hated his nose.Â
She was still reaching for the bag, knocking a bottle of water to the floor. âWhoops! Iâll get it Mommy.â
âOh thank you Cece, that was very helpful of you.â She loved hearing these things, loved hearing how she helped someone. Anyone. More of her fatherâs features shining through, she just loved to help in any way she could. I opened the bag and handed it to her. âThere you go, baby .Do you want to watch some TV before your grandmas and grandpas come over for dinner?âÂ
Once in a while, all the grandparents came over for dinner to spend time with the three of us. They wanted to see their Cece before all the holiday craziness came and they had to get busy with everything else that came with the holidays.Â
With the house smelling like grilled meat and rice, the doorbell rang like chimes in the wind, a touch from Chris when we bought the house. Cece ran to the door, yelling âI got it, I got it!â She opened the door to both sets of grandparents flinging their arms wide open at the sight of her at the door, her red sparkly dress swinging as she lept for them. They hugged her, bags swinging from their arms as all four of them came around her.Â
I was luckier than most with my in-laws. They had welcomed me with the most open of arms into their family and made me feel like a part of the family, like they had always been there just waiting for me. My parents got along with them, his mother bonding with mine over their love of plants and house decor. Our fathers got along with sports, the only issue ever being who was paying for the wedding (they both wanted to pay for it). They loved me and I loved them. I knew this situation wasnât common, so I cherished it whenever they all came together.Â
âCece, are you going to let them come in?â I laughed while they hugged her, knowing they wouldn't let go until she did.Â
âOh, itâs fine, sheâs fine.â Chrisâs mom said while the others were putting their belongings in the hall closet. She picked up her favorite grandchild and held her until she arrived in the living room with all her toys neatly stacked. Celeste had a habit that she picked up from her father of finding joy in organization. It had to come from him because it definitely did not come from me.
As the other grandparents gathered around Cece on the floor, my dad followed me out the back door to find Chris hard at work grilling. They hugged and we watched Chris grill.Â
âHowâs the producing business, Chris?â Neither took their eyes off the meat.
âItâs good! Keeps me busy, but I get to meet celebrities so it has itâs perks. And the company is still good with letting me off for time with Cece. So I canât complain.â
âThatâs because you still work on your days off. I still havenât been able to stop him.â
I sighed and gave Chanâs back a reproachful look. My dad chuckled.Â
âHoney, you havenât been able to stop him from working since you started dating. Remember Valentineâs Day a couple years ago?â
âHey!â Chan finally turned around, mouth open in mock shock. âYou said you were okay! You know how hard it was to get Tiger JK to actually sit down and work with me.â
âI do! And Iâm still proud you managed to get it done in time.â I smiled and took his free hand that wasnât holding a giant pair of tongs. âThat doesnât mean I canât be a little salty that you had to miss our second Valentines together.â His eyes squinted.Â
âAnd have I made it up to you every year since?â He cocked his eyebrow.Â
âI need a beer! Anybody else?â My dad quickly jumped up to head back inside for said refreshment. I shot Chan a smirk.Â
âWas that necessary?â
âHey, he couldâve done the math. Cece was born in November.â I rolled my eyes. His tone suddenly got serious. âDo you want to tell them now or after we eat?â
âAfter. Let them enjoy their time with her now.â
*
âYou what?!â
The plates were cleared, Cece was passed out on the couch watching her favorite show, and the news had just come out. My mother, ever the drama queen, was fanning herself from the news. My father was helping her, if only to save himself the pain of a scolding from her later.Â
âWell, theyâre adults now, honey. They can do what they like.â
âBut theyâre taking her for the holidays too, Richard. Did you think about that?â
âYes I did. Theyâll be fine, theyâll be back afterwards.â
âAnd besides,â Chanâs mom interjected. âYou can spend it with us! We can get wine-drunk and celebrate Christmas ourselves without the kids.â
Chris grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. My mother just watched us smile at each other.Â
âWe miss Korea, mom. And Christmas is such a wonderful time of year, I just think this year we want to spend it differently. Weâll pick you up some of your favorite face cream while weâre there, too.â
âSo the trip wonât be a total waste for you!â Chris tried to placate her, but her face remained unchanged. âAlright Mom, what about this: when we get back, you guys can have Celeste for a whole weekend, just her and you.â She perked up at that.
âFriday to Monday?â
âYou can even bring her back Monday night.â Chris, ever the diplomat. A rush of pride went through me. My mom thought about it for a moment.Â
âDeal.âÂ
Chrisâs dad piped in.
âWhat about us?!â
*
Celeste did really well for her first plane ride. We arrived at the Incheon Airport around noon, but we didnât know what awaited us outside until we stepped outside to our car waiting to take us to our hotel. Driven by Hyunjin with a passenger seat occupied by Felix, they waved us over before climbing out of the car to fling their arms open for Celeste, who stopped halfway to them, noticing the white fluff all around.Â
âDaddy, whatâs that?â she asked, her voice dripping in wonder. Her eyes shining with pure curiosity, she ignored her uncleâs waiting arms to hold her arms out to catch the falling flakes. They disappeared as quickly as they had landed in her hand, but that didnât stop her from trying to catch all of the snowflakes in her immediate vicinity. She jumped and reached, trying to reach the clouds they were falling from. This insanely cute action was met with laughter from all angles, and before she knew it, she was hoisted into the air by her uncle to get a closer look.Â
Chris and I stood by and let them catch up and enjoy the cold.
âSheâs so cute. She takes after you, you know.â I placed a hand on my stomach.Â
âI dunno. Maybe this one will be just as cute.â
