i am never going to shut up about how good poor things was
#rambling#not 2 b controversial but its everything barbie wanted to be :/#not to pit two 'feminist' films against each other but it's how i feel in my heart lol#the way men in poor things make up their own version of bella and love that version but when she changes or shows to not be entirely#the version of her in their heads they get angry and possessive#which was a thing that really really resonated with me#some reviews talked about the focus on sex as a bad thing but i interpreted it as bella wanting sex and liking sex but being forced to live#in a world that views women and sex in a very specific way#if that makes sense#i'm not sure how i feel about the 'revenge' of turning the general into a goat#but other than that i loved it#the way she was allowed to have complicated nuanced relationships with the men in her life and choose to love them despite the ways they'd#hurt her (godwin and max specifically) was really beautiful#i could ramble forever but yeah i loved poor things so much and felt seen by it in a way i didn't by barbie
