Trapping the demon had not been easy. John was still leaning against the nearby wall trying to catch his breath. Bastard was strong. Didn’t help that the face he was wearing actually made him pause. Evan. He remembered hanging out with the guy during his punk band days. God those days had been a blast. Now he was staring at a demon wearing his face. The pause was enough to give the demon the upper hand for a moment. It had been luck mostly that got him trapped in the circle. Now was going to be the hard part. Sending the fucker back to hell. He needed to have a word with Ev’s parents about what they did to their son. This was on them he fucking knew it. His father without a doubt. 

Ev was still in there though. He hated that he was the one that got this call. Things could go so wrong when he was involved. How many exorcisms had he done since Newcastle? How many had gone right? He got so much better at this since Astra. But that fear was still in the back of his mind. He didn’t want to fail anyone like that again let alone a friend. Or another person who was put in this situation because their family was a bunch of shitbags.

“Oh piss off.” John managed to get his composure back. ���You’re trapped in t’ere and I don’t plan on giving you another shot.” He was sending him back to hell and saving Ev. After that? They’d decide what to do with the bastard family. He just hoped the demon had been in there long enough to do too much damage to Evan’s soul or well any other part of him.

“We missed the bed again.” The last word was quite telling. Again. Leo walked up to it lazily, collapsing into it in quiet surrender - the bed of a murderer, he was certain; the bed he knew so well. His righteous mind, more aware than his body and his cravings, shamed him for his choice of company, but he was tired of fighting it. Tired. It seemed like he'd come back crawling into Evan's warmth and certainty whenever he was tired, whenever the fight in him left; and he had just done it again. There was a smirk on his lips as he looked back at the other man, as if nothing had changed. Just the bags under his eyes, perhaps.

it was quite possibly when i posted the no love sequel fic "Work and play" after referring to it exclusively as "secret project >:)" for MONTHS and all of my friends totally lost their minds <3 there were 3 people in the whole world other than myself that even knew this fic was happening and one of them was my beta reader lol <3 the collective outrage from my friends when they found out that THIS was the secret i had been keeping.....so good. especially since most of the solangelo week server was referring to it as "the cheating fic" so let me just say they were SO thrown off <3

Romione AU Hermione secretly disguises herself as a boy to prove that girls and boys can both study at the same school only problem is a certain red head seems to be distracting her from her goal. Despite being written back in the late 2000s, this one has help up surprisingly well; they are a few “men are idiots” moments, but the author subverts this by having everyone lose their heads over romance. Rated T for teen.

Penalties by RyanRow02. Non-magic AU. Ron and Hermione are best friends and flatmates, who have to pretend to be a couple during a Weasley family reunion. This was written in the early 2010s, so some of the jealousy can get a bit overdone. Other than that, it’s pretty decent. The author treats Lavender with respect, which is great, although I don’t really the whole “Ron was a slouch at school” thing, but I suppose the films were still in people’s minds at the time. Rated M for mature.

Below are the generally established go-to Ron/Hermione fics. Obviously, they are all up for individual opinion, but these are the ones that I always recommend to people if they’re just getting into the pairing. 

I’d also suggest getting in touch with @callieskye for their amazing Romione fanfic spreadsheet, as well as @pynki @lytefoot and @amysthefardareismai (since they were involved in fanfics in the days when the community was based in websites that no longer exist, but who managed to save the best of the best fics for future generations of HP fans).

Treats Ron with more respect than most fanfiction written in the 2000s did. It subverts a lot of the tropes about the character that were common-place at the time (for example, Ron’s apparent “dumbness” being a clever ruse used by him to get out of tough situations). Rated M, but (if you’re like me) you can easily skip over the saucy bits and not miss any plot threads.

@diva-gonzo‘s  The Ron Weasley Chronicles, which is Ron centric but also not focused on his relationship with Hermione but as related to his work as an Auror, with Harry and other Aurors.

Tangled, by @burgundydahlia. A plot to bring down one of the Wizarding world’s prominent business leaders brings two friends back together after years of separation. But will their reunion be bittersweet? And what will happen when they realise nothing is as it seems? It’s not completed just yet.

Not as a last resort (parts 1 and 2) by Arabella. An AU Romione fanfic about Ron and Hermione having to spent the night inside Hagrid’s cabin due to a snowstorm, and having to share a bed (one of my favourite fluff tropes), as well as discussing the upcoming 2nd Yule Ball. Not rated, but I’d give it a K+ to a mild T.

@hillnerd‘s “The Wonderful Won-Won”.  Being a teenager is difficult at best- but throw in a dose of flirtations, insecurity and snogs- well that makes it even worse. Ron is torn about his emotions regarding Hermione. For now he throws himself into Lavender. Starts off with that pairing, but is firmly Romione. Rated M, but several of the chapters are ace-safe (and I do believe Hilly made a version of the series that is completely ace safe throughout, so I’d suggest asking them as well).

I like this one especially because it has Ron being a good older brother to Ginny, which I’ve noticed tends to be a rare thing in many Ginny fanfics.

Reflections (oneshot - 2748 words) by SoulJelly - Ginny/Luna during DH. Triger warnings for torture and abuse. Because it’s set during the Carrow’s reign of terror in Hogwarts.

The Swift (oneshot - 2053 words) by centreoftheselights - Soulmark AU. Rated T. Just a word of warning, this fic contains a golden trio poly relationship in the background. Personally, that’s not my thing (Ron x Harry I could understand, but Harry x Hermione just turns my stomach). The Linny pairing is nice in this, though.

Since this is set in sixth year, there is a little bit of Ron bashing (from Hermione, rather than the author),  not to mention the ‘Hermione is the voice of reason’ trope which I personally find a little OOC for Hermione. Cute despite this, with Deamus and Neville-having-a-crush-on-Hannah-Abbott in the background.

“Of Hearts and Heroes” by Emmilyne. Canon-divergent Romione fic that has the two teenagers grower closer in the summer between fifth and sixth year. Treats Ron with more respect than most fanfiction written in the 2000s did. It subverts a lot of the tropes about the character that were common-place at the time (for example, Ron’s apparent “dumbness” being a clever ruse used by him to get out of tough situations). Rated M, but (if you’re like me) you can easily skip over the saucy bits and not miss any plot threads.

@diva-gonzo‘s  The Ron Weasley Chronicles, which is Ron centric but also not focused on his relationship with Hermione but as related to his work as an Auror, with Harry and other Aurors.

Tangled, by @burgundydahlia. A plot to bring down one of the Wizarding world’s prominent business leaders brings two friends back together after years of separation. But will their reunion be bittersweet? And what will happen when they realise nothing is as it seems? It’s not completed just yet.

Not as a last resort (parts 1 and 2) by Arabella. An AU Romione fanfic about Ron and Hermione having to spent the night inside Hagrid’s cabin due to a snowstorm, and having to share a bed (one of my favourite fluff tropes), as well as discussing the upcoming 2nd Yule Ball. Not rated, but I’d give it a K+ to a mild T.

@hillnerd‘s “The Wonderful Won-Won”.  Being a teenager is difficult at best- but throw in a dose of flirtations, insecurity and snogs- well that makes it even worse. Ron is torn about his emotions regarding Hermione. For now he throws himself into Lavender. Starts off with that pairing, but is firmly Romione. Rated M, but several of the chapters are ace-safe (and I do believe Hilly made a version of the series that is completely ace safe throughout, so I’d suggest asking them as well).

“Harry Potter And The World That Went Bloody Insane” by The Slice. “I know something you don’t know” is, apparently, the essence of Harry Potter’s love life. Harry’s certain that the world has been reading one too many romance novels, but then, Harry’s always been a bit oblivious. Featuring Protective!Attentive!Caring!Ron and Oblivious!Harry in their stinky flat and everyone shipping Harry/Ron. It’s awesome.
