other notes:

sandystar survives the initial flood, losing about 3 lives in the process. however he has water in his lungs and ends up dry drowning a few days later

silverdusk is the only medicine cat to survive, of the four that started out. she is a recently graduated apprentice

cloudpond is severely traumatized (they all are) but never really recovers. she struggles with severe depression and anxiety on and off for the rest of her life

amazingly, otterstrike and his four kits (palm, pearl, piper, and plover) all survive. but after the flood he takes his kits and the five of them live as kittypets (until the apprentices get sick of it and come back to clan life)

gullpaw's warrior name is gullcry

all of the older kits die in the flood, as most of them are old enough to swim and thus not given (quite) as much priority as the newer kittens who can't yet swim. rush, paddle, pool, salt, and cone are all less than a moon old during the flood

ripplefern is the only surviving queen. her kits all died in the flood, but she is able to nurse the surviving kittens

tidefang's entire personality changes post-flood. i mean i guess that happens when you watch every cat you love drown in front of you. he is a lot more guarded, snappish, and generally lonely than before

shellthorn is pretty much the Main Guy, and all these stories will (one day) be told from his pov

ashrain, echofang, gorsetail, owlwhisker, and weaselfur become warriors.

dewpaw, madronapaw, and vanillapaw are apprenticed to nightcloud, cloudrunner, and caribouflower.

droughkit, galekit, and hurricanekit die. yes, ashfoot loses her husband and youngest two children all at once.

brightshore has three kits, freckledkit (grey she-cat with teal eyes), needlekit (tom with grey patches), and sequoiakit (white tom).

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Northwest Bahamas excluding Andros Island. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Andros Island. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect along the east Florida coastline from north of Deerfield Beach to Sebastian Inlet. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from north of Golden Beach to Deerfield Beach. Hurricane conditions are expected in the hurricane warning area across the Northwest Bahamas later today, with tropical storm winds beginning within the next few hours. Tropical storm conditions are expected within the tropical storm warning area on Monday. Tropical storm conditions are possible within the tropical storm watch area by Monday night. Interests elsewhere in South and Central Florida should continue to monitor the progress of Dorian. Additional watches or warnings may be required for portions of the east coast of Florida today.

Hurricane Dorian is centered as of 5 a.m. EDT about 70 miles (110 km) east of Abaco Island and about 255 miles (410 km) east of West Palm Beach, Florida. Dorian is moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h), and a slower westward motion should occur for the next day or two, followed by a gradual turn toward the northwest. On this track, the core of Dorian should be near or over portions of the northwestern Bahamas later today and tonight, and should move closer to the Florida east coast late Monday through Tuesday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 150 mph (240 km/h) with higher gusts. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km). Dorian is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some fluctuations in intensity are likely, but Dorian is expected to remain a powerful hurricane during the next few days.

A life-threatening storm surge will raise water levels by as much as 15 to 20 feet above normal tide levels in areas of onshore winds on the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama Island. Near the coast, the surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves.

Dorian is expected to produce the following rainfall totals through late this week:

Northwest Bahamas...12 to 24 inches, isolated 30 inches.

Coastal Carolinas...5 to 10 inches, isolated 15 inches.

Central Bahamas and the Atlantic Coast from the Florida peninsula through Georgia...2 to 4 inches, isolated 6 inches.

This rainfall may cause life-threatening flash floods.

woo redoing old ocs and making them into ferretcry's code ocs!

these guys were originally from a rp. they weren't wc ocs, just rando cats in the woods. their backstory (or ig Whirlwind's) is all edgy and angsty since i made them years ago.

basically these two were mates. Riptide was goofy and lighthearted, and Whirlwind was more reserved and anxious. Riptide ends up drowning while Whirlwind was pregnant. Whirlwind later has 3 kids, Drizzle, Storm, and Hurricane. Drizzle gets sick and dies as a kit. this leads Whirlwind to be ultra protective of her remaining kids and not let them do anything.

Hurricane and Drizzle end up sneaking out at night to play. Hurricane eventually pushes Storm off a cliff near their den on accident. Whirlwind hears this, and comes out to find Storm dead with Hurricane standing on the cliff above. completely out of it with grief, Whirlwind blames her for Storm's death and chases her off.

dramatic, ik lol. i think i'll keep their story fairly similar. now they're in riverclan. Whirlwind and Riptide can keep their names since i think they can work as wc ones. the kits are keep their names as their prefixes. instead of falling off a cliff, stormkit can acidentally drown like her dad. instead of chasing her off, Whirlwind can become distant from Hurricanekit, and maybe still blame her.

Hurricanekit would eventually get Herbwhisker as a mentor, and as one of the few chill cats in riverclan, he can rly help her out.

i'm super proud of Whirlwind's new design! i've always pictured her as a bengal cat i think i actually nailed the vibe this time! i'll probably do her kids soon if i get around to it lol

i also have bonus art of Storm's death. tw for blood just in case, but the art's super old so it's not that bad hjkjh.
