Shout out to @weeklyrapgods In honor of the New York Puerto Rican Day Parade, we pay tribute to Hurricane G, a Puerto Rican artist who passed away last year at age 52. Puerto Ricans have played a crucial role in hip hop, with pioneers like Charlie Chase of Cold Crush Brothers, Devastating Tito of Fearless Four, The Mean Machine, DJ Disco Wiz (the first Latino DJ), Prince Whipper Whip (the first Latino rapper), and The Real Roxanne laying the foundation. Contributors like Fat Joe, Big Pun, Crazy Legs, Joel Ortiz, Frankie Cutlass, DJ Tony Touch, Angie Martinez, the voice of New York, and many more continued to build upon that legacy. Let’s celebrate the significance of Boriquas in hip hop and their contributions as we honor Hurricane G during this special occasion. This one’s for you. Weeeeepaaaaa! 🇵🇷
