Mike Rounds
Physique: Husky Build Height: 5' 8" (173 cm)
Marion Michael “Mike” Rounds (born October 24, 1954) is an American businessman and politician serving as the junior United States senator from South Dakota since 2015. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 31st governor of South Dakota from 2003 to 2011.
Born in Huron, SD, Rounds was raised in Pierre, SD. After graduating from South Dakota State University with a degree in political science (B.S., 1977), he worked in insurance and real estate. He was elected to the South Dakota Senate in 1990, representing the 24th district until 2001. Rounds ran for governor of South Dakota in 2002, defeating Democrat Jim Abbott. He was reelected in 2006, but was term limited from running for a third term in 2010.
In 2014, Rounds was elected to the United States Senate, succeeding retiring Democrat Tim Johnson. He was reelected in 2020 over Democratic nominee Dan Ahlers.
Sen. Rounds, who I affectionally call “Mike Pounds,” has four grown children and 11 grandchildren with wife, Jean Rounds who died at age 65 in 2021 two years after she was diagnosed with cancer. And now that he's single, maybe he'd like to try cock and pound some ass. I am more than willing to help make that dream a reality for him. What? He's a Republican. My chances are good.

I love this little house in Huron, South Dakota. It was built in 1902, has 3bd., 2ba., and is listed for $159,900.
Look at how nice the wood is inside.
Lovely built-in cabinets in the living room. It’s spacious with a beautiful fireplace and columns, too.
Cozy dining room.
Adorable large kitchen, I like the checkered floor.
Aren’t the 3 bds. cute?
And, this vintage bath is adorable. Look at the striped tub. Plus, it’s pretty good size.
In this bathroom there are stairs to the attic.
There’s a lot of potential up here.
Down in the basement is a 1/2 bath and shower. This home is nothing cute with lots of potential.
Plus there’s a nice big deck and a garage in the yard.

After SDS’s [Students for a Democratic Society] hugely successful anti-war march on Washington in April 1965, the organization's ranks swelled. SDS's hypertrophied growth made it markedly more competitive and its leadership more impenetrable for women. The sense of community which SDS veterans so valued dissipated as new members tried to assert themselves and the old guard struggled to defend itself. Although the SDS old guard may not have been anxious to discuss the existence of sex discrimation within the organization, [Sara] Evans observes that many of the most powerful men within SDS were married to women who were questioning sex roles within the Movement. Evans hypothesizes that the men might have been somewhat less resistant had the issue been raised while SDS was still a cohesive movement of friends.
In fact, some men did respond favorably when the question of sex roles was first raised within SDS at the December 1965 National Council meeting. According to SDS chronicler Kirkpatrick Sale, the December "rethinking conference," as it was optimistically dubbed, was supposed to rekindle the spirit of the 1962 SDS Convention at Port Huron. SDS oldtimers hoped that the conference would help SDS solve its problems and grow into an effective "multigenerational" and "multi-issued," radical organization. Many SDS members came to the meeting dissatisfied with the group's lack of ideological coherence and organizational cohesion, and the absence of working democracy. Many of the veterans were also resentful of the newcomers who they felt were taking control of their organization. Moreover, Evans argues that many relationships and marriages among SDS couples “were reaching a breaking point.” Evans speculates that this personal turbulence made the issue of sex roles especially compelling. But it was Casey Hayden and Mary King's, "Sex and Caste"—a "kind of memo" they had circulated among women in the Movement—that finally prompted the National Council to hold a workshop on women's role in SDS. Their paper, an elaboration of the position paper they had written for SNCC a year earlier, was printed with other conference papers. In it, they located the struggle for sexual equality within the new left tradition of dissolving the barrier between the personal and the political:
“all the problems between men and women and all the problems of women functioning in society as equal human beings are among the most basic that people face. We've talked in the movement about trying to build a society which would see basic human problems (which are now seen as private troubles), as public problems and would try to shape institutions to meet human needs rather than shaping people to meet the needs of those with power. To raise questions like those above illustrates very directly that society hasn't dealt with some of its deepest problems and opens discussion of why that is so.”
According to Evans, when the women's workshop first convened, it was composed of both men and women. However, a number of men reacted so defensively that some women resolved to meet by themselves, without the obstructionist men. The women who chose to leave were followed by several men who angrily demanded that they be allowed to participate in the women's discussion group. Even some women who had stayed in the mixed group because they wanted to discuss the issue with men became so frustrated by the men's behavior that they too withdrew to meet with other women. Marilyn Webb recalls that the issue
“galvanized enormous numbers of meetings of women endlessly. I don't even remember anything else happening at that convention. We always used to talk about other people's problems. The reason it was so incredibly interesting was that it was the first time we applied politics to ourselves.”
The workshop issued a statement, endorsed by the National Council, criticizing SDS for failing to encourage women to participate fully in the organization. It further argued that women's status in SDS "reflects not only the inadequacies within SDS but . . . also greater societal problems, namely the role of women in American society today."

📝 Writing Patterns Tag Game 📝
Rules: list the first line(s) of your last 10 posted fics and see if there's a pattern!
Oooh how fun! Thank you for tagging me @shallowseeker 💞 I'm going to go in reverse chronological order to see how my writing style has developed as well!
Universal Donor When Sam applied to Stanford, he needed an ID, a permanent one. He decided to use Bobby’s address as his own, that was the only way he could know any papers Stanford sent would get to him safely, without Dad or Dean seeing. He crafts his fake drivers license carefully and delicately. Brown hair, hazel eyes, 5’11,” 150 lbs. He hesitates, for a moment, then writes “M” under sex. He pulls the license number off some freshly dead citizen of Huron, SD, as Bobby instructed. He looks again at the template driver’s license online, checking for anything else he’d need to add. At the very bottom corner, a little red heart sits before the word “DONOR.”
If I Believe You Dean pauses as he’s putting on his shirt, noting his body in the mirror. He’s wearing only his boxers. His eyes glance across the familiar rolls and splattering of tattoos. The freckles and the sunspots and the barest hint of wrinkles. Cas tells him he wears his age well. Dean tells himself he wears his age well. His eyes linger on his chest.
take my hand (hold on forever) Leviathan are so fucking loud. Tendrils wrap around Dean’s arm and waist, hoisting him off the ground. Dean plunges his knife into its side, and as a ‘thank you’ it howls right into his ear and sends him flying through the air. Landing heavily, he both hears and feels the crack of his chest before his head slams into the ground, hard.
there's no cell service in the afterlife Castiel draws in a pained gasp. He has lungs again, a mouth again. He opens his eyes, and the spinning floor of the dungeon welcomes him as he falls to his knees. He looks to where the brick meets concrete, the last place he saw Dean, the look of remorse and terror still seared into Castiel’s mind. Cas hears a thump behind him. He turns around.
Not Whole, Not Holy A simmering feeling of longing starts to well in Castiel’s chest. It originates in the deepest part of his core, radiating outward in waves and fading into a tingling restlessness in his fingertips. He lets out a pained sigh, rolling over onto his side. The sunset glares a bright orange hue into his small cabin through the window. He covers his face with his arm, shutting out the dusty twilight, and waits.
A Midsummer Night's Dean “Y’know, I think Timon and Pumbaa are gay.” Cas hums, considering. “Why do you think that?”
Prelude It was a straightforward order. Castiel finds the car in a small Midwest town, with only Dean inside.
Ask Me Why My Heart's Inside My Throat “Cas, you got your ears on? We got a problem we could use your help with.” Dean’s voice resonates deeply in Castiel’s Grace. With a thought he flies to Dean, finding himself on a weathered fishing boat on the East coast. The ocean slaps against its side. The sky is swimming with the promise of rain.
Spellbound It wasn’t like he planned for this to happen. Rowena held out her hand to Sam. “The crow beak, if you would.” He had every intention— good and pure intention— of following Rowena’s instructions. But when they were in the same room together, she seemed to know exactly how to move and talk and even blink in the most distracting way possible.
Long Black Cloud Coming Down Something was wrong with Sammy. Course, they had just salted a spec. It was a shotgun rockin’ dug out salt’n’burn. Dean couldn’t exactly blame him for looking worse for wear. But there was an edge to the way he hunched over himself in the booth. He was bent like a paperback, folded and frayed. He looked sallow. Dean worried his thumb against the side of the linoleum tabletop. Maybe it was just shitty diner lighting.
If anyone is interested in reading any of these, here they are.
Ah how fun to see them all lined up like this! I learned to be punchier with my intros as I went. My first couple of works start with big blocks of text, but I started playing around more with paragraph length by Take My Hand. And with the last two, I finally figured out how to write in past tense! Only took me 8 tries lol.
I think I developed a pattern for intros as I went: Short, punchy action/dialogue, followed by longer paragraph to explain the setting/situation.
It's interesting to see which characters/dynamics struck my fancy at any given time. I started with Sam Insanity, took a nice long stroll in the Destiel Enchanted Forest, then returned to my roots with more Sam Insanity.
Tagging: @kingflups @cutemothman @bloodydeanwinchester @kerryweaverlesbian and anyone else who'd like to play!
#vinny types#tag game#i actually had not reread Universal Donor in YEARS and I just did#bestie. you were insane for that one#Formatting wise it's def my weakest just bc I had the least amt of skills while writing it#but like conceptually I fucking cooked in that guy#holy hell#maybe if im stuck in my current WIP i'll mess around with those concepts more#do a lil rework

Frank Turek Interviews Mike Licona on Jesus' Resurrection | @CrossExamined
COMMENTARY:
Bart Ehrman is a propagandist for the Post Modern dialectical Marxism of the Jesus Seminar,, The Jesus Seminar may have begun as a materialistic inquiry into the components of the historical Jesus, but it has been hijacked by John Dominic Crossan as a Post Modern weapon against the British crown in Northern Ireland, Crossan is a charming Irish Fabian who is right out of the Polugh and the Stars and, for all intents and purposes, a chaplain for the IRA, His thesis is to equate Judea during the 1st Century before the destruction of the Temple to Ireland during the Potato Famine under John Bull. Among other things Jesus was transformational and not a revolutionary, The people around him may have been, but He wasn't, Jesus was preaching what has become Pauline Theology as interpreted by N.T. Wright and the subtext to His ethic, as captured in Romans 13:1 - 7, was that Israel should embrace Pax Romana and transform the governing construct of the pre-Saul Judges by retaining the separation of powrrs of Priest, Prophet and King, incorporating the King is a republican structure similar to the Roman Empire and include the People with a voice in the government structures. In words, pretty much the way Israel is organized today The Post Modern Historic Deconstruction is the ideological construct the Students for a Democratic Society imposed on the American university system after the occupation of Columbia to justify their avoidance of military service under the Seelctive Service System. They have a number of noble sounding rationalizations, but it basically came down to the fact that they were all scared shitless of going to Vietnam and/or interrupting their business career to play soldier for tow years like Elvis. The political strategy for the SDS was based on Trotsky's Insurgency Process that Castro had successfully implemented in Cuba . The Port Huron Statement in 1962 adopted this construct and actively exercised the dialectical Marxism in their expressed ideological methodology that resulted in the Police Riots in Chicago in 1968, Campus radicals like Jimmy Tabor employed these methods in their academic career to stay in school and avoid the draft , even after the draft ended with the All Volunteer Military, In the final analysis, Jimmy Tabor and Dom Crossan continue to advocate the radical agenda of the Weather Underground against the dominant social contract inherent in the federal government, The irony of course, is taht the pro-war Conservative draft dodgers from the 60s have adopted the Post Modern libertarian logic of William F. buckley and Ayn Rand and created the Supply Side economics of white supremacy that has dominated American governmetn policy since 1981 and led directly to the January 6 attempt at the hostile take=over of America, by MAGA Conservatives and the neo-Nazi Jesus Freaks of Christian Nationalism, The thing is, Bart Ehrman has become a useful idiot and force multiplier for Christian Nationalism with the moral confusion generated by his business model based on his unsubstantiated claims of textual corruption. Cornelius the centurion featured in Acts 10 is the author of the Gospel of Mark and it is anchored on Pilate's lost euangelion to Tiberius conveying the the Talking Cross as the ratification of the blood covenant between the god of Jesus and the centurions in the Italian Cohort as represented by Cornelius. We know from Tertullian that Pilate sent this euagelion as an intelligence report to Rome and that Tiberius acted upon it, We know from Tertullian that the Roman soldiers were calling Jewish Jesus Followers "Christians" before Jesus was arrested We also know that this euangelion emerged from the events reported in Mark 15:1 - 16:9 We can infer from the universal SOPs of a diplomatic/military mission such as Pilate's role in Judea would have generated such an euangelion and that the "Tidings of Joy" was the Talking Cross which has been captured in the Gospel of Peter which was Peter's reemergence of the contents of th euangelion as told to him by Cornelius off-stage in Acts 10 And we know that the euangelion that Peter employed to vet Paul's version of the Gospel included not only the Gospel of Peter but Peter's confession of Jesus's ministry contained in Acts 10: 34 - 43, which become the narrative arc of the Gospel of Mark and which validates Gary Habermas's thesis that Christian doctrine emerged immediately after the ascension and Pentecost. All of which squash the Post Modern fairy tale of Bart Ehram, Jimmy Tabor, and Dom Crossans Jesus Seminar into dialectical mush which attempts to substitute the premise that the Gospel of Mark is derivative of Pauline Theology and was written after the Jerusalem Apocalypse, The Jesus Seminar is like the Oliver Stone version of Vietnam: it is based on the ideological convenience of a political agenda to enforce the narrative of conventional wisdom in the same manner as the ""Stop the Steal" campaign of the January 6 Reason.

Waneta Rose Ortbahn, age 73, of Huron, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 21, 2023, with family by her side. Her memorial service will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Welter Funeral Home with inurnment following at Riverside Cemetery in Huron. Memorial visitation with family present will be on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Waneta was born on July 22, 1949, to Leonard and Fern Pollman. She grew up on the family farm in rural Sully County. Her sister, Darla, was born a few years later, completing the happy family. With her grandparents living on the same farm, she treasured the memories from her childhood.
Waneta attended Blunt Elementary School and graduated from Onida High School in 1967. She pursued a degree in business at Bob Jones University. She married and moved to rural Beadle County and to this union two children were born, Wyatt and Daneta.
Waneta had many careers over the years: bank teller, school bus driver, bookkeeper at Magness Livestock and Wheat Growers, and business manager at Iroquois Public School. However, the job she cherished the most was being a mother. One of her great joys in life was being able to tell people that she raised a doctor and a lawyer.
Waneta moved to Huron and met Michael Ortbahn. Mike and Waneta were married a few years later. They spent the next couple of decades completing home improvement projects, working together in Mike's land surveying business, and supporting Wyatt and Daneta as they pursued careers and established families.
Waneta was a talented seamstress. She sewed her own clothes; made numerous costumes for school and church plays; and sewed dresses for Kota Kids- her mother's children's clothing line. Waneta was fiercely independent, capable and didn't like asking for help from anyone. In 2010, she was diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease, which she fought with unparalleled strength and without complaint. In 2015, before losing her mobility, Waneta and Mike adventured on a five week RV trip to Alaska with dear friends, Ken and Sharla Mees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Fern Pollman and sister-in-law, Linda Liedtke of Huron, SD. She is survived by her husband, Michael Ortbahn of Huron; son, Joseph (Rachel) Wyatt of Pierre, SD and their children, Draix, Ruby and Sapphire, Emerald, Zinnia, and Ragnar; daughter, Daneta (Troy Ward) Wollmann of Rapid City, SD; sister, Darla (Don) Pollman Rogers of Ft. Pierre, niece Cassidy (Adam) Kulesa, nephew Cameron (Melody) Rogers, sister in law, Nancy Wheeler of Huron, and her daughter, Shantel Tschetter, and brother-in-law Dennis Liedtke of Huron and his children Brad (Marty) Liedtke and Dawn (Eric) Dillon.

Fish kill exemplifies racial bias in SD fisheries management
HURON, South Dakota — Three white, middle-aged men standing on the edge of the ice above the Third Street Dam peered deeply into the waters below. Their eyes waited for their prey to show even the smallest semblance of action. Then, with their arms raised head-high, they furiously plunged their spears into the James River. Shooting through the water, a sharp SPLISH carried out from each…
