One of the things that I kind of miss, as the show's lore develops into the era of bunkers and international secret societies, is the fragmented nature of knowledge in the hunting... well, I was going to say community, but I think I'll go with field. People pass knowledge along family lines, by blood or choice; they don't trust strangers to fact-check it. None of the Winchesters knows that vampires are real before season 1, and they don't think to ask Bobby about the werewolf "cure" until it fails on Madison. Bobby doesn't trust Steve Wandell's friends to care that Sam was possessed when Meg used him to kill Steve. Ellen doesn't trust most of her customer base to not be hunting psychics. Isaac assumes, on minimal grounds, that Bobby, Sam, and Dean are at fault for a devil's gate opening. Walt and Roy try to kill Sam for freeing Lucifer, but they don't try-- in fact, outright refuse-- to learn how it happened. Hunters aren't a single group; they're more like dozens of small paramilitaries that don't really know one another's agendas.
And when hunters do trust outside colleagues, it's likelier than not to go sideways. Gordon Walker tries to kill Sam (although, in fairness to Gordon, Sam himself later wonders if a permanent death might be for the best). Travis (does he get a last name? I can't remember) not only tries to kill a rugaru who hasn't yet killed any humans; his own aggression catalyzes Jack Montgomery's transformation and nearly gets both brothers killed. Sam asks Martin to do recon on Benny, and Martin winds up taking an innocent hostage so that he can trap Benny himself. Helpful, or at least well-meaning, hunters like Bobby, Jo, and Garth are, until some point in the Carver era, exceptions rather than the rule.
(Of course, if you pay attention to the single worst arc episode of the series, which is "The Heroes' Journey," Garth turns out to be the biggest psycho of them all, cheerfully "Garthing" a whole club of people, without attempting to separate the innocent from the guilty. But since that's easily the worst episode Andrew Dabb ever wrote, and it drops another continuity error approximately every three seconds, I'm electing to ignore it.)
I'm not sure exactly when the change starts. It's creeping, rather than sudden. Maybe it starts as far back as season 4's "In the Beginning," when Samuel tests Dean's bona fides by asking him about vampires-- which "Dead Man's Blood" made clear you can hunt a long time without encountering. Maybe inheriting Bobby's contacts list has something to do with it. Maybe, once you call a friendly tech friend like Charlie a hunter, you forget what cold-blooded sons of bitches this show's regular hunters have usually been. You can see the difference in season 9's "Devil May Care," where Tracy makes snide comments about Sam's past but puts it aside to work their case, and season 11's "The Chitters," where Sam and Dean have a low-drama teamup with César and Jesse. Then you have season 12's "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox," where dozens of hunters gather for a wake in a late hunter's mom's house, and one guy actually fanboys over Sam's possession by Lucifer. Some of these experiences are tense, but they aren't downright threatening, nor are the other hunters all useless against higher-tier opponents.
So, what changed? I'd say that maybe the apocalypse and Leviathan killed off the dangerously ignorant and/or belligerent hunters, but Walt and Roy show back up in season 12, so that seems doubtful. I might also say that the Winchesters have simply earned the trust and respect of their fellow hunters, but, LOL, no. Remember Dean's friend Rudy, and Mary's stooge that Ramiel kills?
I'm left with no good Watsonian explanation. I can give Doylist explanations, sure: Maybe the writers wanted Mary to have associates outside of Sam and Dean; maybe some executive thought that a show about two rejects wouldn't attract the advertisers they wanted; maybe later-seasons showrunners wanted an excuse for more characters to share a room. Unfortunately, Doylist explanations don't interest me much. They might, if I could be a fly on the wall of the writers' room, but I'm watching the final product, and that's where I want to find the sense.
(As a final note, I'm still slightly doped up from a minor surgery earlier today, so please forgive any egregious typos or jumps in topics.)

césar's familial bloodline is cursed, though he is not actively looking for a cure, he knows his brother, matteo is. césar believes he is too far gone to come back from the curse, as he cannot control the symptoms and continuously loses control fo his instincts, and going on rampages. these events typically come from high emotion, and come with a body count. depending on the severity, you may not be able to reach césar. the only one who has consistently been able to do so is his older brother.
On the night of the first kill — like a switch being flipped, their lives would turn nightmarish. Hallucinations would plague their conscious, whispers of brutal and vicious urges would rush through their ears — prompting them to act on their worst desires, feeding on their inhumane nature, on their primal instincts.
because of the curse, and other guilt he harbors, césar frequently partakes in high-risk behaviors. he frequently uses hard drugs, chainsmoking, or binge drinking as a clutch and distraction. sometimes they mute the horrors from the curse, and sometimes they make it far worse.
his most notable work is the massacre he committed in port leiry two years ago. it was while he was turned, suffering particularly from the curse, cesar hallucinated that the party was instead a warwick gathering. avi, a close friend,'s departure from warwick had made a fresh wound of rage in his mind, as well as every other gripe he had with the pack he felt he'd never fit into. césar slaughtered the distorted image of the pack, jeering and taunting him like a wild beast at a circus. but it wasn't real, the sounds were instead screams and the body's not one of werwolves at all, but humans at a college party, drunk in the woods.
warwick banished him out of fear that he'd attract attention from hunters, and any ounce of guilt he could've felt from any of the murders is immediately gone. enraged, césar leaves port leiry. two years later, he returns after news of his father's death finds him, despite could having done with more time away, and joins up with harford and their alpha, avi with intentions to avenge his father's pride.
What emotion does your character feel the strongest and what elicits that sort of emotion from them the easiest? partially due to the curse, césar is almost always overwhelmed in rage. his very being incites it from him. it’s not fair what matteo had to do to keep him safe, it’s not fair that their family has to suffer, warwick’s not fair, his father’s death isn’t fair, nothing is fair and it makes him so angry.
If your character is not human, how would they react to finding out about the existence of a cure to turn them human? this would be so complicated. does the cure remove the curse? he may have too much pride to stop being a wolf, and at the same time, he believes he’s too far gone to ever redeem himself.
What is their worst childhood memory? he was in high school, but 14, when matteo killed for him. a young césar had humor, money, and loved his life despite the horrors so thinly veiled from him. naturally, others grew jealous, poked the baby bear whose protective older brother was grown up and gone. of course, that hadn’t been farther from the truth, and when one bully took it too far, chasing césar into the woods and strangling him, nearly to death- matteo found them. and then he killed, for the very first time and césar watched as his brother turned into the monster he’d fought for so long.

The universe is loosely based on Danganronpa, so we're having some fun with the "Ultimates" :)
In order under the cut
"Bijunya", the ultimate phantom thief. A mysterious person who hides their face and likes to create chaos during the game.
Virgil Vânator, the ultimate vampire hunter. A man who already knows some of the people around him but is only really close to one of them.
Bunta Nakamura, the ultimate kabuki actor, a young boy who knows how to avoid problems and be liked by those around him.
Celyan Nawr, the ultimate UFOlogist. Someone who does not care about what others think of them and is determined to say what they think.
Matiu King, the ultimate rugbyman. A man that already lost so much and is not ready to loose more.
The Ultimate Dog Trainer or "Monokuma". The superviser of the game, alongside his dogs, César and Jeanne.
Tachi Sanchèz, the ultimate zombie apocalypse expert. The youngest participant in the game and its protagonist, determined to survive, even if that means alone.

is that the best way to work on something like this ? / from raynne
Tumblr media
it's hard not to roll his eyes into the back of his skull ( do it , she can't see it through the back of your head , roll them 'til you can feel your corneas stretch ) ; is it the best way , she asks ── no , probably not . none of the paths césar ever chooses are GOOD or APPROPRIATE or LEGAL , but it is the best way to certify that neither of them have to suffer through handcuff bruises .
when laces turns around to face her , he bites the air , like a cornered dog would ( takes one to know one ) . " hey , sweetheart , it's really hard to bind a lawman down with you constantly stressin' out in my ear ! " césar pointed out while crouched over an unconscious policeman . meters of black tape had already been used around the poor guy's wrists and , judging by the bright pink shade covering all of his chubby fingers , it must have been cutting off the circulation .
césar's snarl is short-lived though ; the sight of raynne reminded him of why he was doing this ( a lie he's told himself to feel a bit more galant , laces assaulted an officer because he did not want to go to jail , not to protect some fair maiden ) . even though he had knocked the cop out and dragged him back into a broom closet , THAT DID NOT MAKE HIM A BAD GUY . césar was trying to do something good , you know , for both of them ! the hunter eventually sighed , hanging his head in shame from snapping at raynne .
" hand me over that hammer , will ya ? "

CINE Oficial y caballero (1982) Título original: An Officer and a Gentleman País: Estados Unidos Dirección: Taylor Hackford Guion: Douglas Day Stewart Género: Drama romántico / Militar
Reparto: Richard Gere, Debra Winger, Louis Gossett Jr., David Keith, Lisa Blount

I’ve always found the idea of death comforting.  ‘
brown eyes bore into amber ones , seemingly unimpressed by the philosophy being offered to him so willingly. there he stood, mop in hand, doing janitorial work while the creature he had caught a glimpse of back in nevada stood dressed in fine clothing. he had looked much different then; elbow deep in shades of crimson with ink black hair falling over his cruel stare ... eyes black like an animal's, crouched over a young man whose only crime had been poor luck. that image had stuck with césar. perhaps because he had not been able to put down the rabid creature right there and then. perhaps because HE DID NOT KNOW HOW.
under the dim library lights, the man looked like anyone else. césar preferred him disheveled and filthy --- it felt fairer like that, to look as he truly was inside. this costume he wore was a vile manipulation. but it was only natural for something as unholy as he to cover his true nature with that which humanity was more biased towards; BEAUTY. YOUTH. WEALTH...nothing heavenly would partake in such cruel machinations.
the ex-con lowered his head and continued to mop, seemingly unperturbed by the other's presence. he had promised to hunt him down after what he had witnessed back at the el portal motel. sadly, the hunted had found the hunter first. césar felt his throat dry out at a thought: if given the opportunity, what does the jaguar do to the poacher? "i could give it to you." he declared nonchalantly. the mop continued to rub against the already pristine floor. "just tell me how."

César Franck The Accursed Hunter (1951)
Tumblr media
Publication date 1951
Sir Thomas Beecham
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
César Franck, one of the most renowned composers of the Romantic era, holds a significant place in the annals of classical music. Known for his symphonic works and chamber music, Franck's compositions are characterized by his distinctive harmonic language and meticulous craftsmanship. One of his most famous symphonic poems is "Le Chasseur Maudit" or "The Accursed Hunter," a piece that brilliantly encapsulates Franck's genius.
"The Accursed Hunter" is a musical portrayal of a narrative poem by German poet Gottfried August Bürger. The story tells of a count who, ignoring the church's call to worship, opts instead for a day of hunting. This defiance incurs divine wrath, and he is cursed to be hunted eternally by demonic forces.
Franck's composition is a sonic embodiment of this dramatic tale. The work is divided into four continuous sections, each representing different stages of the narrative. The introduction sets the scene with a peaceful, pastoral theme, symbolizing the count's quiet life before his transgression. The melody is warm and serene, played primarily by the strings and woodwinds.
The second section introduces the count's rebellious decision to hunt on a Sunday, breaking the solemnity of the Sabbath. Franck uses a lively, rapid tempo, and the music grows in intensity, mirroring the count's fervent chase.
The third section marks the turning point, where the count is cursed for his defiance. An ominous theme is introduced by the brass section, signifying the divine intervention. The music becomes chaotic and dissonant, reflecting the count's terror as he is pursued by demonic forces.
The final section portrays the eternal chase, the count forever running from his pursuers. The music is restless and relentless, with a repeating motif that signifies the never-ending pursuit.
"The Accursed Hunter" is a fine example of program music, where the composition is intended to evoke images or convey the impression of a specific narrative. Franck's use of themes, motifs, and orchestration techniques effectively translate the poem's dramatic elements into music, creating a vivid auditory experience.
In conclusion, César Franck's "The Accursed Hunter" is a testament to his adeptness at narrative storytelling through music. It is a thrilling, dramatic piece that expertly uses musical elements to portray a narrative, making it a captivating example of the symphonic poem genre.

Pokémon Players that I interacted with in Pokémon Sword/Shield in the Wild Area, Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra on February 17, 2024!
I will be putting the name shown to me in game, and only put names in English so I apologize to any foreign Trainers I had to leave out due to unable to write your name in your language, but I love you all the same! Names have been wrote down EXACTLY as I saw them in game, so yes, these are what people names themselves. Enjoy! ✨

the sound of caperucita’s voice becomes a monotonous, boring buzz that rails into his skull, falling in time with the rain, becoming the background music to his restlessness. hunter or not, she keeps fucking talking him in circles. fuck fairytales, fuck barking, fuck judgy eyed little knife-wielders who can’t stay off of his fucking nerves. a chase in a hurricane sounds thrilling, but it feels too much like baiting into a trap, like she’s trying to call his bluff by denying him. that’s the human part of him speaking sense, far off and distant like the water he has his back turned to. even if it’s the wolf that delivers the violence, there’s nothing more he hates than that truth, buried deep, and pulsing. he’s alive, making conscious choices, he isn’t a slave to the feral nature, the curse. not yet, anyways. he won’t make it to be matteo, but now, he has choices, no matter that he doesn’t fucking want them.
still, it’s only partially his choice not to listen to her. all he hears are little pathetic stabs at him, trying to provoke the monster that she claims isn’t on her list. it doesn’t matter, of course, he’s done enough to deserve it, could do more right now to make it worth bringing his skin back home with her. she might not be scared, he might want to give her a reason to be, but he doesn’t care. if she’s so eager to threaten him, he’ll come back later, if the rest of the world fails to kill him after all the blood he’s thirsting for is spilled. the long kind of chase, fueled by spite. and he’s fine with messes, just loves ‘em, never once been clean. césar gives her one last dry chuckle, one last look.
control steers him away from chiquita and her steel, her stupid wolfsbane perfume, her list. but it doesn’t quite aim right. he moves forward, blowing past her with a sharp check of her shoulder. it’s a sharp kind of pain that wakes him up with a smile, but he keeps going. if she stabs him, it’ll be in the meat of his back, because he’s walking away now, bidding her goodbye without saying anything at all, and retreating into the dark of the storm.
Tumblr media
Irene doesn’t move.
Not when he steps closer. Not when his voice drips that low, jagged warning. Not even when the storm seems to lean in with him, like it, too, wants to see what happens when something snaps.
She just stands there — still and utterly unshaken, like the world’s spun meaner things at her and she’s long since stopped ducking.
Her gaze tracks his approach with the kind of measured calm that doesn’t come from arrogance, but experience — the cruel, quiet kind that’s buried friends and enemies both, and didn’t much flinch at either. Her fingers twitch once at her side, maybe muscle memory, maybe restraint. No visible weapon. No posturing. Just that look. Sharp and old and wholly unimpressed.
At his caperucita, her brow ticks up.
“Cute,” she murmurs. “You practice that one, or just bark it at anyone in red?”
The wind shifts again — hard this time — and her coat flares at the hem like it wants to fly, the scent of iron and wolfsbane rising faint in the air between them. Not fresh-cut. Older. Embedded. She doesn’t need to show him where it’s hidden. That’s the point.
Her voice stays low. Calm. But it cuts cleaner now.
“Funny thing about wolfsbane —” she says, tone drifting like smoke from a slow-burning fire, “— it comes in different forms. Tinctures, powders. Oils that don’t even smell like anything until your lungs start to collapse.”
She steps once, not toward him, not away. Just enough that the gap between them feels sharper. Like it means something more now.
“So I’d be careful.”
Her baby blues narrow, not cruel — just real. Tired in the way only people who’ve survived monsters are tired. “Like I said. You’re not on my list. Yet. But don’t mistake that for mercy.”
Tumblr media
Her chin tilts slightly, just enough to read the shape of him again. Rage, hunger, grief all coiled together in a too-tight skin. She’s seen it before. Worn a version of it once. But she’s not about to be the one who breaks first.
“So be a good boy,” Irene says, almost gently. “Back away. Because yeah — maybe I end up with a bite. But you?”
She leans in just a breath, enough that her voice can flatten into something harder beneath the calm.
“You’ll end up dead. No matter the scenario. Odds aren’t in your favor.”
Then, softer again — a shrug of her coat, eyes already turning past him. Dismissal, deliberate and cold.
“And like I said. I don’t make messes I’m not ready to clean up.”

❛   gun .   wield  a  gun  at  my  muse .
Tumblr media
" hey , come on , now , no need for all of that . " laces said as he lifted both arms up . he had managed to sound defeated rather than scared for his life ( he still had two other quarters of soul to spare ) . the mud's safe sat still right in front of the crouched man , though its' lock had acquired brand new scratches all over it . CÉSAR WAS UP TO NO GOOD but the squeaking of his leather pants made it clear this wasn't the hunter's most strategic heist ; wasn't the first time he had had a gun pointed at him either ! heck , at this point , césar saw being shot at as a necessary rite of passage for all of his most valued relationships . and amy hadn't fired ( yet ) ── she must've really liked him .
laces pointed with one gloved hand at the safe he hadn't managed to break into , feigning his best puppy eyed look ( he even fluttered his lashes and everything ) ; instead césar looked like he was struggling not to sneeze . " was just checkin' the locks , that's all . makin' sure my future place of employment is secured . " when the gun was not lowered , césar got serious ── he did not rise from his crouched position , but he did bend one knee while gazing up at amy , his sharp eyes staring deep into her unblinking ones , searching for any ounce of empathy from the woman in a gesture that seemed to suggest absolute devotion .
" would i lie to you ? " laces asked while holding an obnoxiously large lock pick set .
