He is actually quite hurt that Clem refused his consoling flipper. She flinched? That was-well it was a stretch for her to even consider that SKIPPER would hurt her? He feels he has failed as a Skipper if his cadet was responding to him in this way. The avian has to remind himself that this was humanspawn he is dealing with here. She is not Private, she is far less in touch with her emotions, and for that matter no one was as touchy-feely as his youngest subordinate.

refresher on my fantasy au since its been a While:

  shouto’s mother was an ice dragon, abandoned by her own clan and family to king enji todoroki as a kind of ‘please stay away from us’ gift, and sworn to him.

 he saw the potential in having his heir be half dragon (dragons could take on a humanoid form, especially the more powerful ones), but found that none of his children could turn into an entire draconic form. they could form claws, tails, scales and horns, but could not assume the whole form. until shouto, that was. it was not as powerful as a fullblooded dragon’s form, and never would be, but it was more than enough for enji. 

 shouto was trained in fire magic, of which enji was prolific, as well as the inherent power over snow and ice that came with being part ice dragon. 

the people of the court were awful to rei and all her children, but especially rei, who they saw as a kind of pet, and enji was no better. rei essentially kept herself in her tower as much as she could. 

in a moment of panic, she lashed out at shouto’s left side with ice, scarring it and leaving it to heal over with twisted scales, and was routed out of the castle by enji and his men, never to return. 

 shouto was trained in swordplay and tactics as well as magic, but began to refuse to use fire magic, as he saw it as part of his father. he grew up bitter and isolated, almost a prince in a tower kind of situation. 

 touya left when shouto was ten, and then when shouto was fourteen, he followed him, slipping out of his tower at the dead of night on silent wings. enji is offering a high reward for anyone who can find him. he’s been missing for about two years at the point of the story.

 he dyed his hair black, and used a basic witchcraft glamour to hide his scales, wings and tail, and disguised his scaled scar as a regular burn one. there’s something incredibly uncanny about his disguise, but you wouldn’t be able to put your finger on it if you didn’t know witchcraft very well. he travelled around, using only his first name, pretending to be a young travelling witch doctor offering help wherever he can. 

 he reached the mountains where the clan of ice dragons his mother had come from, thinking she might have returned there, but they coldly told him that she hadn’t come, and that he wasn’t welcome there, as humanspawn. he turned around and left. 

 he still travels as a witch doctor with an incredible affinity for ice, looking for his mother and brother, and travels with the main cast as they’re going in a similar direction to him. they don’t know who he is (except probably kirishima bcs....... dragon smell) 

some bonus facts:

his wings and tail are still there, they’re just masked from view by a glamour. people trip over his tail a lot. if he gets emotional he can accidentally drop his glamour and its Wild

he has to eat a Lot to maintain his dragon body mass, usually in secret. 

he’s less drawn to sparkly things that the usual dragon but sometimes he just can’t resist.

he purrs when you scratch him behind the ears. 

the crystally stuff on his form in the official art is ice crystals. the reason they’re black is because black ice!! he can half transform and does it in battle a lot

he can’t just... take off, he either needs to go from a high point or have a running start. he also can’t hover, but he can fly incredibly tight circles around one point. he’s kinda small for a dragon, even for an ice dragon, who are kinda small anyway bcs of his human blood. he’s very light for a dragon too but he’d still squad you if he landed on you siuadhisa

Question for science

If you'd LITERALLY just had a baby, like within hours/day or so, how much would it hurt to do squats, or physical activities associated with survival in a post apocalyptic setting (running, jumping, hauling gear, etc)? How long does it take for these things to not hurt in a specifically "Just Had A Humanspawn" sense?
