Three activist blogs.
After I looked through a couple of different activist’s blogs, I decided to follow three of them. The three I decided to follow were @feminismandgenderequality, @the-daily-feminist and @humanrightsconnected. I decided to follow these blogs because all of them used a variety of media sources to share stories about their respective topics. The first blog, @feminismandgenderequality, is a blog that is based on the idea that no gender is better than another. I liked how on their front page they had a cover photo of stick people, both guys and girls, who were holding hands and below they had a statement that read “Feminism=gender equality not gender superiority.” I also liked how the blog contained many re-posts from other blogs about different people all around the world who are making a difference in the fight for gender equality. I liked that because I think that it makes the issue/topic more relate able for readers. I also liked how the blog contained questions from anonymous readers because I think it helps engage other readers who may also have the same questions. The next blog I followed was @the-daily-feminist. I decided to follow this blog because I liked how the blog re-post article about feminism from major publications. I think that by re-post articles from newspapers to help younger people to learn about current events. I also liked how this blog chose to post clips about feminism from television shows. For example, I saw a post from the John Oliver show and another post from a news report. I liked this because it shows how feminism is being talked about in many different media outlets. The last blog I followed was @humanrightsconnected. I decided to follow this blog because I liked how they didn’t focus on one specific area or topic. On the blog’s front page they stated how they “work to increase understanding of human rights and its legal framework to strengthen civic involvement in promoting and protecting human rights!” This blog used many pictures from current events that show how tragic events impact a country. For example, they posted “South Korea’s Candlelight Revolution in Pictures”, which was a political corruption demonstration. I liked this blog because it teachers readers about a variety of topics that impact many different countries.
