More humanized RisingClan cats! This time, we have Scorchplume and Yarrowshade! (Soairse is pronounced SEER-sha by the way)

Decided to draw some Humanized versions of the RisingClan cats. Here's Goldenstar and Nightfrost and somehow they turned out incredibly attractive like good lord!

ok quick which cats would be choir kids, band kids, orchestra kids, or theater kids (i don’t have a reason for this it just popped into my head lol)

Oh this is such a good question, umm

Goldenstar and Yarrowshade are definitely theater kids. Goldenstar also probably did sports when she was younger and that's where she made friends with Russetfrond who is a mega jock. Pantherhaze is on the chess team but somehow he and Russetfrond are like besties.

Branchbark strikes me as an Orchestra kid for some reason, I picture him playing something like the flute? Ospreymask is honestly on the Spirit Squad and shows up to every kind of event imaginable to cheer. Oddstripe didn't used to do clubs but now he goes to church camp every summer.

Scorchplume is the foster kid who moves every year and so deliberately doesn't join any clubs or even friend groups (at least until Goldenstar and Yarrowshade force her to sit with them at lunch every day).

Everytime I reblog a post and tag it ‘risingclan’ I’ll sometimes correct itself to ‘ridingclan’- which makes me think of cowboys so-

Ok, the Clans are competing cattle ranches. Scorch (Saoirse) is an outlaw who they stumble on in the desert. Razor is the mayor of the local town, Ghost is his sherrif.

Man, I love me some cowboys. If i didn't have to focus on drawing the actual story updates i would be drawing so many cowboys right now you have no idea. (Somebody please do this)

Could you tell us a bit more about Ospreymask and Branchbark? Like just little fun facts, Osprey is my secret fave

Ummm I'm honestly not sure what to say haha

Branch and Osprey (Along with Pantherhaze) are some of the least developed cats in RisingClan, mostly because even if I have a strong sense of how they would act in any situation, it's kind of impossible (or at least ill advised) to fully flesh out 10 plus characters when a third of them don't have that much plot relevance.

That said, Branch and Osprey do become more plot relevant in the future but I can't really tell you about any of that without spoiling stuff. Oh, I know! I'll give you human AU stuff, that's spoiler free.

Ospreymask is named something like Kelleigh (pronounced KEHL-lee), something where you can tell her mom wanted her to stand out. Branchbark is named Brenden which is like THE most common boy name in my generation (that and Nathan I think).

If we're talking a Modern AU (like the halmark AU or something) Kelleigh is a Vet Tech or a Pediatric Nurse or something, maybe a Paramedic. Idk why but I picture her in scrubs. She has the undying energy and desire to help that those kind of jobs require. Brenden on the other hand tends to prefer nature. Despite being a fairly social guy, he actually is most comfortable in silence and fresh air. I feel like he's a Park Ranger or Game Warden who spends most of his time chillin' but knows how to put his foot down when it's serious.

I was researching some names for a character and I came across the meaning for Saoirse, which means "freedom". Man I got a bit emotional for some reason? I always love when character's names have extra meaning, whether it be truthful to them or ironic, and man I hope it's truthful to Scorch/Saoirse. I really want her to find the freedom, both from Razor and from her own trauma, that she deserves.

I tend to give characters names that have some kind of meaning, either to their story or that say something about their parents, so I'm glad that you caught that one. Especially before she met Razor, Saoirse was a very "go where I want, do what I want" kind of cat. Freedom has always been important to her. It's great that she finally gets to have that freedom again <3

Its definitely very close but I think Scorch is ever so slightly taller, like 2 inches in human AU. Thank you for asking the important questions

More of a lighthearted ask-

Every time Yarrow calls Barley ‘Barleygirl’ my brain goes ‘Barbie girl’ so now Yarrow singing Barbie Girl to himself is implanted into my mind

the absolute chokehold this blog has on me is seriously crazy im soo in love with your work.

youve probably been asked this before, and if thats the case i apologize- but im curious... considering the canonical Cat Homophobia amongst the city cats, how does Scorch feel about it? I mean we all know that girl is queer and has flirted (albeit playfully) with women in the past but being around #1 Bigot Razor all the time can't be a good thing for... anyones moral standings, internalized or not.

either way she has some serious issues to work through before jumping into another relationship i fear. sorry scorch not even a pretty women can solve ur Various Issues... we will get there eventually girl i believe in u.

(ps i know towing the line in asks between trivia/clarification questions and "this is something i want to be extrapolated upon in the text rather then just telling you" questions is hard so if this is one of those i totally get it lol, and im sure i speak for most of us other askers as well ^_^)

Wow I have so many people in chokeholds it seems XD I'm flattered. Also, I appreciate the understanding. Luckily, this is something I feel comfortable answering.

Lucky for Scorch, she grew up in a completely different town with a much chiller community. As a kit she was taken in by a group of female cats who raised their kits communally and at least some of them were in romantic relationships with each other. So she doesn't have the sort of unthinking, automatic 'that's weird' response that cats in Razor's city tend to have.

You're not wrong that being around Razor definitely had an effect on that but the effect was mostly her realizing she had to tone it down when she was in town. There were rumors originating in her earlier days in the city that she swung both ways (we learn that in one of the early Aldertail POVs) but she mostly played it off and escaped too much flack for it.

But yeah, her issues are a lot more with just general intimacy and the seeds were there even before she came to Razor's city. To some degree, it made not being able to be queer in the city easier because Scorch doesn't consider romantic love to be anything she would be interested in. She's a real Romance Pessimist, you know, like the kind of woman who starts a rom-com being like 'love is fake and I'll never fall in love' XD Hopefully she'll follow the rest of the rom-com arc

Limited Merch Run Announcement!

Hey, everyone, I have exciting news! Recently, I was able to participate in a local vendor event and for the event I designed several sticker and print designs, some of which are RisingClan related. Almost no one bought them (which is to be expected of your first event) but that means I get to share them with you! More information below the cut!

I am selling the following products:

A 4x6 Print of Saoirse (Human Scorchplume) and her Daemon, like a Golden Compass AU, for $5 USD,

a 1 inch sticker of Fogpaw in a witch hat, for $3 USD,

and a 1 inch sticker of Oddstripe on a trans flag background that reads Stay Odd, for $3 USD.

This is a Limited Run though!

I only have 6 prints and 38 of each of the stickers and I'm not currently in a space where I can make more. Because of that, I will be selling them first come first serve through a google form.

My Patrons will receive the form a week ahead of everyone else (Aug 14th, 10:00AM MDT), then I will release the form to the public (Aug 21st, 10:00AM MDT). If there is a lot of interest, I may be able to print enough for everyone at a future date and people who already filled out the form will get first priority on that second run.
