I'm not going to lie, the show is not and will not be the same as the original; but I will always have them in my heart
it was very fun to be in this fandom and meet such cool people, more on Tumblr! plus the show helped me improve my artstyle and get out of my comfort zone since I always drew girls with the same fucking face
and if we get personal,,, it helped me not feel alone in my second semester of college and family problems since I had a depressive episode and Clone High helped me deal with it the 8 months hyperfixation did ruin my grades a little but meh, I still don't complain
I'm still upset that I won't see Gandhi again, he was my biggest hyperfixation and I loved him too much, I was excited and I imagined future scenarios for his return but I see that not everything is possible in this life
will I continue in this fandom? I'm still undecided because I can't get on Tumblr anymore without the thought that Clone High is canceled again appears, and it upset me but I don't want to abandon it either, it's nice to be here yk

I'm gonna say it: Even though I'm very sad about the Clone High Reboot getting cancelled, it was very likely that it would happen.
I feel like they focused more on the negative reviews and all those youtubers who made videos about it and those fans who said that "Without Gandhi it's shitty" and that's why it got cancelled, Season 3 also had NO promotion which made them less money.
While I agree that season 2 writing was ass, cringey and even annoying sometimes the show didn't deserve to be cancelled because many people worked hard on it. Season 3 even got better with the writing and had potential to become like the original again, it seems like they just needed more time but Max just decided to cancel it because it didn't bring them enough money I guess.
I hope Phil Lord and Chris Miller can bring the show to Netflix or Hulu but I doubt that will happen because I don't think they care about Clone High anymore because they have more important stuff to do, plus like I said it didn't bring them enough money.
Tumblr media
Sorry for the rambling, this show meant so much to me and I've been a big fan for a year now. Even though it's cancelled, it will never be forgotten and will be a good memory to me and all the fans.

Best movies and series i've watched in 2024
I know i'm late, but here ya go!
Yu Yu Hakusho (2023)
Tumblr media
This is how you do a live action! Perfect combination of realism and playfulness. It remained authentic to the anime that's why it was so fun to watch. The CGI was good without being "too much". ▶️ Netflix
Reboot (2022)
Tumblr media
One of the most creative sitcoms in the past 5 years and they only gave it one season. It's also funny and ironic that the whole concept of it was doing reboots and shows getting canceled and they literally canceled it. Again, one season, but give it a try. It's entertaining. ▶️ Hulu
Schmigadoon (2021-2023)
Tumblr media
I can't believe only few people talk about this. I mean a series about being trapped in a musical world is not interesting enough? Witty, superb production and on point casting! Jane Krakowski, you are perfect! ▶️ Apple TV
Harley Quinn (2019-)
Tumblr media
I rarely watch animation, but there's something about DC that keeps me hooked. Also, how could i miss Harley Quinn x Poison Ivy story. And DC loves slowburns huh??? They did that with Batwoman and i'm not complaining at all. I love wlw slowburn. ▶️ HBO Max
The Color Purple (2023)
Tumblr media
This is so underrated when it should be one of the best musical movies of all time. Perfect casting, storyline and soundtrack. People hate remakes, but i'm here for it. New gen deserves to see it. More musicals for Halle Bailey pls! ▶️ Prime video
Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
Tumblr media
As a fan of Frankenstein franchise, i would place it on the top 3. So creative and entertaining. I thought it would just be like another try-hard pop or chic flick classic, but they get it! Idk how to explain it, but they got the formula! ▶️ Apple TV
This child is evil (2022)
Tumblr media
Subtle but creepy. They said J-Horror is dead, but i think people should deep dive more. I hope Japan won't give up in making horror because they make it like no other. They just have to explore more stories and unique ideas. ▶️ Kissasian
Hausu (1977)
Tumblr media
Now i know why it's one of the most respected horror movies in the world. Unique and ahead of its time. Best thing about it is that it was a written from a child's perspective. This is how you play with art. ▶️ Torrent
Godzilla: Minus one (2023)
Tumblr media
VFX on another level. I always say i hate superhero movies and sci-fi, but i think it's the bad or over the top special effect is what i hate. This movie did it simple, but solid. I actually felt like i was part of the movie. I wish i have seen it in the theater. ▶️ Netflix
Priscilla (2023) - Jacob Elordi's Elvis >>>>>>>> He can't sing or dance as good as the other actors, but he was able to capture his backstage version. I also wanna see Cailee Spaeny in more projects. She's amazing! And as an Elvis hater, finally a movie that doesn't romanticize him. ▶️ HBO Max
Silent Parade (2022) - Feels like home watching japanese mystery. I hope they make it more available outside of Japan through streaming coz a lot of them can only be accessed through pirating. ▶️ Apple TV
They Cloned Tyrone (2023) - Entertaining, crazy and unique storytelling. Too bad, it was released on the Barbeinheimer year. You still have a chance watching this tho. ▶️ Netflix

Claps hands “Everyone gather round”
Haven’t seen a to-do list in all this chaos so Here’s your rudimentary checklist on what to do now to save it:
If you haven't already make sure you hit the love/double-thumbs up button on Lockwood in netflix.
Keep posting, reblogging, reacting and commenting on ALL social media to keep Lockwood trending. (Tumblr, FB, Insta, Twitter, Reddit, even Pinterest) YOU want to get other streaming platforms to notice!!!
Keep watching Lockwood on Netflix in the background.
Request the show from Netflix.
Keep up with @charmquarkstrangequark group watch on May 20-21. Post about any other group watches.
Vote for Lockwood on this cancellations poll (currently in 4th at the time of this post). Vote, sign and post any other polls or petition.
For those who have made original posts (gifs, AMVs, Fanart, Fanficition or original thoughts) Make a Masterlist post so other’s can quickly find a post and reblog.
Reblogging is better than liking. Tumble is not a place where you dedicate you page to one thing. I cannot tell you how many times people have watch and joined a fandom based of gifs of that show.
Donate to the WGA strike fund!!! Want to really stick it to Netflix? This is the way. Last strike lasted 100 days! Writes are just as unhappy as us so help them fight the system. Also the longer the strikes goes, more desperate platforms will be to get new content which could turn heads to Complete Fiction as they are in the UK and not affected. You can also buy groceries for the strikers.
Stream the Soundtrack on you music platform in the background. Amazon Prime has it.
Buy the e-books!!! (amazon kindle)
Buy the paperbacks.
I think the best platform to pick it up would be amazon as they probably have seen an increase in sells on the E-book. Hulu/Disney+ is another option as Disney has publishing rights in the US. I don’t like the idea of HBO picking it up cause I think they would sexualize it too much.
Finally do not be toxic, threaten violence and be a bully. Go to your basement and get you feelings out on Joe and Esmerelda. But if you want to get business people to take you seriously do not actually sent them hate and threats. Politely explain that you are upset and may/will be canceling their services.
Sincerely, a veteran Young Justice and Clone Wars fan.
P.S. Just found out you can name a tribute in your WGA donation. My tribute is to First name: Lockwook Last Name: & co.

The newest episode of Futurama ("Quids Game") could've been a lot better - and here's how
Today, I watched the (current) newest episode of Futurama, "Quids Game." While it was one of the better Hulu episodes, I still felt dissatisfied by the end. That was surprising; while the story wasn't perfect, it was so promising. I suppose that's why I'm as disappointed as I am.
Fortunately, I think I can pinpoint the sources of this episode's largest faults, and even offer solutions that could, if not fix it, at least raise it into being the promising episode that I was hoping for.
If you've seen "Quids Game" or don't mind spoilers, read on!
So, what went wrong?
While I also have smaller critiques for this episode, I believe its largest flaw resides in how disconnected Fry's childhood experience (losing all[?] his friends after winning multiple games in a row at his 8th birthday party) is from the episode's plot in the present (being forced to play supposedly deadly recreations of those games in a recreation of said birthday party).
This might seem like a paradox. After all, the memories of Fry's past are literally creating the episode's present peril. How could they not be connected? But, on a deeper narrative level, they really aren't.
If you look at it from only present Fry's POV, he's brought back to a recreation of his worst birthday party on his current birthday by malevolent aliens. He and his friends/coworkers/peers are subject to the game, and they all believe that the losers are getting permanently killed as the game goes on. Fry's trauma about cheating comes up occasionally, but whether he avoids it or accepts, people "die" in any case. Finally, he dies after accidentally "killing" Bender while intentionally trying to win. Everyone's brought back to life anyway, there's no comeuppance for the evil aliens, and Fry's only closure for this event is Leela and the others telling him that they believe he's not a cheater.
That feels woefully unsatisfying, especially because only the audience sees the real "twist" of the episode: that Fry's parents were behind their son's "victories" during the party, and they don't even know how miserable they made his son. Without this knowledge, Fry is left thinking he was solely responsible of the events that branded him as a "cheater" to his old friends, with nothing to comfort him but the support of some of his current peers saying they believe he's not a cheater. He didn't really learn or resolve anything.
I kept thinking about the twist of a more successful episode, "The Lucky of the Fryrish," where Fry learns that his brother Yancy stole his clover, but gave to to his (Yancy's) own son as a tribute to his (Fry's) disappearance. That revelation changed Fry's memories about his brother, his feelings about needing the lucky clover. Even though he went back to his "unlucky" life, his choice had meaning and resolved the episode nicely.
Sometimes, you can get around the characters learning this vital information, like in "Jurassic Bark." Fry doesn't know about Seymour waiting the rest of his doggie life for him, and it's so effective and sad that they had to retcon this ending to help me fans sleep at night. However, this is after Fry made a choice based on what he assumed happened to Seymour in the past. It's a bad decision due to dramatic irony (and some logic), but a good one as a character choice. Fry has such faith that his dog would have moved on without him, that he chooses not to clone him out of a sort of kindness, leaving the past in peace.
But there's no such character choice or delicious tragedy (Fry losing his friends just feels crummy, no where near as powerfully and heart-wrenchingly horrible as a doggie missing his owner for the rest of its life) to balance out "Quids Game." Everything kind of happens "just because," especially because the stakes are practically nonexistent. (Of course no one is actually dead! How would you have the rest of the show?)
Here are my proposed fixes...
First, the episode should establish that Fry doesn't just have a strong emotional aversion to being perceived as a cheater. He should also have an aversion to competition. (We're already retconning Fry's aversion to cheating [see how he cheated at poker when he could read minds in Into the Wild Green Yonder]; we can retcon this too, as a treat)
This could actually blend well with Fry's easy-going slacker personality. He's not (just) slacking off due to laziness. It's also due to this inherent fear of competition. After all, the one time he wished he could succeed and tried his best, he was accused of cheating and abandoned by his friends. The success he got from his seven-leaf clover was different; luck always is. He probably counted on the clover's luck to keep people from turning on him or leaving him. But actual effort in a win-or-lose situation? Either he fails and feels that inevitable pain, or he succeeds and people leave him.
Second, Fry should show visible distress every time he moves on from a challenge. With the exception of the birthday candles, he should clearly show he's experiencing dread with each "victory", even though he's winning. He should also show a lot more concern/pain when people die. He's not just beating them: they're leaving him. This will make the reveal that his old friends abandoned him hit stronger.
Third, Fry's parents should learn about how their plan backfired.
Fourth, Fry should learn about his parents rigging every game. Here's my proposed semi-fanfic of a solution:
Pinning the tail on the donkey will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for Fry. He panics, throwing off his blindfold and shouting that he's never going to play: not this game, not anything ever again. To the aliens' surprise and frustration, he runs off into the hallways of the house... and unintentionally, falls into the bowels of their "machine."
Yes, in this version of the story, we see glimpses of the machine from the inside. It's a huge and highly advanced supercomputer, allowing Fry to see its calculations and productions in progress. Fry wanders the area for a bit until he finds an interesting set of calculations. A screen shows memories from his POV: a child-sized first-person perspective. Another screen shows an environment being extrapolated from that data. Fry deduces aloud that the computer must be predicting and generating everything from details extracted from his memories.
He wanders further and finds an area labeled "Irrelevant Memories." One of the projections (a generated image of what young Fry would've looked like at that moment) shows young Fry in the middle of the night after the party. He's tossing and turning in bed, crying in his sleep.
Fry explains aloud that he was so sad that night that he even cried in his sleep. He wasn't fully awake or asleep, but he could hear some of his family talking from behind the ajar bedroom door. We, the audience, hear a few phrases among the muttering: "ruined his party"... "think he's a cheater"... "he can't risk doing anything"
But then the machine begins new processes. Audio isolation, AI detection of words. Suddenly, as Fry stares at the shadows of his parents and brother (the only things that he can glimpse past his bedroom's generated door), he can hear what they're saying.
Yancy, in fact, told his parents, "Way to go, you guys. You ruined Phillip's party by rigging every game!"
Fry has only just begun to process this when more screens appear, displaying AI predictions of how this was accomplished. This is how we see the montage of his parents rigging the games.
"Well, we can't tell him about this," his dad said. "His friends already think he's a cheater. It'd be cruel to take his victories from him."
"He'd hate us for this, I know it," said his mom. "But I can't just have him think he can't risk doing anything!"
"I don't hate you, Mom!" Fry can't help but say to the shadows. And he means it.
Suddenly, the shadows are gone and his mom is by his bedside, holding his younger self. Fry remembers this, but he's staring at his mom in a new way.
As she comforts him, his younger self cries that he'll never make another friend like the best friend he lost.
"But I did," says Fry.
He'll never have people who'll want to throw a birthday party for him like this ever again.
"But I will," says Fry.
What's the point of trying to win if it makes people hate him?
To this, Fry can't say anything.
But then his mom holds his younger self tighter and tells him that it's not important whether he wins or loses. The important thing is that he tries his best to get what he wants. Even if he loses, the effort will be worth it. And in the future, he'll make better friends, and they won't accuse him of cheating when good things happen to him.
"Besides," she adds, "maybe you dodged a bullet by losing friends who'd care so much about party games. After all, none of it's real."
Fifth, the climax of the episode plays out a little differently.
Suddenly, Fry is grabbed by the aliens and dragged back to Pin the Tail on the Donkey. To avoid anyone doing what Fry did, they gouge out the remaining players' eyes. However, as the game proceeds, a strange sense of calm has washed over Fry. Fry rallies Bender's spirits and asks that they win this game together, as best friends.
Then Fry accidentally kills Bender.
But in this version, Bender doesn't call Fry a cheater. He says, "At least you killed me... fair and square..." before he dies.
Fry wails over the body of his friend after he "wins" and gets his sight back. He cries out, "This can't be real!" Then he gasps. "None of it's real."
Fry wrenches his pin out of Bender, then takes out a blindfold, wraps it around himself, and spins around. He lurches towards the donkey, shouting "None of it's REAL!"
... only to get swallowed by the donkey too.
Suddenly, Fry appears in another room inside the machine. All of the "dead" players are there, alive and well.
This is when the truth of the games is revealed: the aliens never intended for anyone to permanently die. They kidnap beings, force them to play to the death in traumatic situations for gambling purposes, then revive them before wiping their memories and returning them to their home planets. The aliens can't risk being caught, but they also can't risk mass disappearances raising any eyebrows.
Fortunately, the presence of the cops (Smitty and URL) prove to have significance: they had gotten a tip about where the aliens would be next, and learned that Planet Express's "birthday" route would likely cross their path. The cops purposefully got themselves invited to the party to travel to this exact part of the galaxy and catch the aliens in the act. The aliens get comeuppance and are transported to jail.
As they return home, Leela apologizes for Fry's birthday being so crummy, what with all the "watching your friends and loved ones die" that occurred. It was probably his worst birthday ever.
"Well, I am traumatized," Fry admits. "But it also kinda fixed the trauma about my last worst birthday ever. So I guess it balances out."
"At least you won your birthday games again," said Leela. "And don't worry. None of us think you're a cheater."
"Well..." Fry shrugs. "I don't think that matters so much anymore. As long as I have you, I'll always be a winner."
And on that corny note, the episode ends.
.... Well, those are my thoughts! Let me know if you agree with my changes or not.

In the meantime while I anxiously await your plentiful truths, might I ask for what cartoons you might recommend my humble self?
Ah, my vassal! I am neariy finished writing that essay, I promise. Just a while longer, I need to be sure my sources are accurate.
I will say you should watch Samurai Rabbit, despite it being almost painfully cringeworthy at times. It's surprisingly well-written, though! It's only on Netflix.
In terms of TMNT, the only one I can recommend with my whole chest is Rise of the TMNT. I like the others (mostly— 2012 is on Thin Fucking Ice with the Donnie/April thing), but Rise is the best by far! I am Extremely Biased and am going to say you should watch the Usagi crossover episodes of 2003 (S2E23-26, S3E01 [does not contain a whole lot of Usagi, but he and Leo uh. Exchange swords], S3E22-23, S4E13, and S7E13 [no speaking lines, appears as a background character only]) and 2012 (S5E15-17). The 1987 ones (S3E32/34) aren't as good, but you do get to watch Mikey slap Usagi in the face with a pizza. Fucking LMAO. All the TMNT is on Paramount Plus, but far be it from me to tell you not to hoist the colors, matey.
The Amazing World of Gumball... exists! It sure does. I really like the way they play with animation and art style, and it has some honestly amazing physical comedy, but it's very, um... 2012. I think it popularized a lot of tropes you see in more modern cartoons that make them borderline unbearable, but I found myself watching the entire thing and kind of wanting more! It's pretty good if you just want some batshit insane cartoon nonsense, but it has no story to speak of, really. The episodes are both startlingly interconnected and purely standalone. Anais is my favorite character, followed by Nicole, and honestly the men in that family are trash lmao. I think I watched it on Hulu, but it might have been HBO Max.
I like Star Wars, too, specifically Visions, Clone Wars (both 2003 and 2007), and, though I haven't finished it, Rebels. (I like the movies, too! Real shame they never made any past Episode VII. Had so much potential. Smh my head.) Visions S1E8 is my favorite thing Star Wars has ever done btw. Very Heavily Biased. All of this is on Disney Plus.
I have of course seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Legend of Korra, and recommend Avatar if by some miracle you haven't seen it, but tbh I don't know if I would recommend Korra. It has very interesting concepts, but the execution is um. Bad. Watching the Straights™️ frothing at the mouth over Korrasami was an Experience! "we poppin' the biggest bottles when Makorra happens tonight" is a regular part lo my vocabulary. Both are on Netflix, I think.
I like Teen Titans! I used to have the first two seasons on DVD. There are a lot of jokes I didn't get as a kid, and so rewatching it as an adult was interesting. I also didn't appreciate Cyborg enough as a kid, man has the best jokes. Robin was always my favorite, but on rewatch, I really can't say who's my favorite. I like Beast Boy's power the best, but Raven is p cool, and Starfire is wonderful, and Cyborg is funny. This is available on The Max Formerly Known as HBO.
I also watched all of the original animated Batman. Batman: The Animated Series, I think it was called? I really really liked that one, it was the perfect mix of edgy and funny, and is my favorite Batman iteration. Mark Hamill Joker also! That interpretation of Two-Face is my favorite, and made him my favorite Batman villain. I still want a silver dollar btw! I already have a $2 bill and several dollar coins, so if I get one of those and a half-dollar, I'll have one of every kind of defunct American currency. I think. I believe this is also available on The Max.
If you count anime as cartoons, Bleach and Fairy Tail are good, if you skip the filler. My Hero is... Pretty good. Mirko is of course my favorite character, and I am now only invested in the show for her sake. Crunchyroll is kinda the go-to for anime, but Hulu also has all three of these. I think Bleach might not be on Crunchyroll anymore also? Very Odd if so because it's one of the Big Ones, but I couldn't find it when I looked last.
Little Witch Academia is adorable! Lesbians abound, and features a surprising amount from actual Celtic lore. It's also quite possible the only anime featuring high school girls that doesn't make any blatant attempt to sexualize them, which is a breath of fresh air. The official anime is a Netflix original, but there apparently exists an OVA that I have not seen, and a movie, that I have, also on Netflix.
Castlevania is extremely good, but I guess it's technically an anime? It's originally in English and has some of the best lines I have ever heard come out of someone's mouth, ever, but it is heavily gorey, and S2 has some Unfortunate Rather Graphic Heterosexuality. Fortunately, one of the characters is confirmed bisexual! It is also a Netflix original.
This was a doozy to answer! I don't watch too many cartoons, per se, because I wasn't allowed watch most of them growing up. Never seen Spongebob, Powerpuff Girls, Phineas and Pherb, etc. etc. Despite that, I am a fan of animated shows over live-action shows, generally speaking, due to the liberties one can take, and the fact that you aren't limited by what you can achieve with human actors and such. The same goes for video games— I prefer heavy style to realism, though the GameCube/PS2 era games had the best of both worlds.

figured id put together some thoughts about the Clone High revival now that ive finally seen season 3 (a year after it came out oops)
i tried to be cautious and not keep my hopes up too high, but i have mixed feelings about the revival honestly. i dont think its like. astronomically bad or irredeemable (and i kind of wish i didnt see as many people saying it was), but it wasnt that great either?
as a positive note, while i do miss Rough Draft's animation from the MTV season, i think Shadowmachine's animation for the revival was p decent, its still snappy and expressive, im glad the art style was kept, and the slight design tweaks are fine
the writing of the revival was the biggest problem people have with it, and unfortunately i do agree that the writing was pretty weak. there were def some funny moments (mostly with Scudworth imo), but the MTV season was much more consistently funny and had a lot more laugh out loud moments
like other people i honestly do get the vibe that the writers for the revival didnt really understand the original season of the show and what made it what it was. and apparently they hated Abe? which is why his writing got messed up, not to mention the writing for the other characters. episode 1 of season 2 definitely set a poor expectation for the rest of the revival </3
season 3 was a bit better than season 2, but they both kind of turned into what the original season was parodying, and while i get that the shows it was parodying arent as popular anymore and that the show isnt gonna be the exact same after 20 years, the revival's writing still left a lot to be desired. a lot of what made the original season so great is just missing or not as prevalent. i miss the historical references, i miss the more offbeat and irreverent humor
though even with all the faults of the revival and as much as i saw it coming with the dismal reception of season 2 and lack of advertising for season 3, im still sad the show was canceled again, it had a lot of potential. im a bit conflicted here too, i want the show to have a proper conclusion without a cliffhanger, but i dont want a repeat of season 2 with the lackluster writing and therefore low reviews. if the show does come back a second time, maybe Hulu would be an alright place for it. and while MTV was part of the production of the revival, i wish the revival aired on the channel too. i want MTV to at least give cartoons a chance again
no matter what though, even if the Clone High revival was less than stellar, the MTV season is still great. ill always love Clone High, itll always be one of my favorite shows <3

just finished The Other Black Girl on Hulu 👀 It's always in the hair care products or the food, huh? reminds me of They Cloned Tyrone. anyway, it's giving very much Get Out, but with Black women as the focal point. never read the book but most of the comments i've seen say the series is better. not gonna get into the plot too much cause i didn't know much about it myself before i started it. but the eps are 30 mins each and it's a quick interesting binge. go check it out!

I'm not sure how to recommend DEVS, or if I should: it's as annoying as enthralling, it's as dark as it's beautiful.
Fantastic stuff, unusual pacing, great soundtrack, great acting, sometimes it'll really stretch your patience or feel unwarranted then it'll drag you right back in.
You won't like the end and then you'll think about it and like it again... then you'll change your mind! You'll want to rewatch immediately or maybe never again. You'll read every review and DEVS explained article even the ones with physics stuff you don't fully understand, you'll remember details that make you feel moody, you'll have a fondness for Jamie that puts a small smile on your face. The Jacob Geller video dissecting it will become a fave.
It's very much not what you'd expect: the vibes and through lines match folk horror (like The Wicker Man) far better than sci-fi by the time we're half way through. If you liked the thought experiments posed by The Matrix, this might be right up your alley.
I watched on a hunch, trusting that Nick Offerman could deliver a solid performance and hoping for existential fear like in Annihilation or Ex Machina.
Here's the pitch: Alex Garland the filmmaker was given a blank cheque to make a one shot series by FX and Hulu: they gave a 'sci fi guy' a massive budget to do whatever artsy boundary pushing story he wanted. Not a mad men clone, not something popular, just what tickled him. This is some obscure, off-putting, out there story that doesn't get seen, let alone make any money... and yet in 2019, some studio took a risk. The cast is diverse, the themes intelligent, the photography and design just stunning.
Garland generally does hard sci fi where something scientifically conceivable but slightly out of current reach forces people to rethink their world then examines the psychological fallout.
We have a talented cast, a thriller, atmospheric glitchy music, a pinch of absurdism and lots of stuff to ruminate on. There's a surface story of industrial espionage in silicon valley and the broader theme of cult-like beliefs among a group of select developpers working on a special project.
It examines faith even though most of the characters are probably atheists. It's about how we see ourselves as moral beings and in relation to other people, could your conscience change if you had information about how the world works?
The best I can say about DEVS is that it's like those unnerving stories that get passed from person to person in school and then stick with you long after. It's the job these actors cherish and want to talk about even though it's not their moneymaker. You know?
This is cult TV and well worth the effort of tracking it down and taking the time. If you have a mental slot free for something unusual and you enjoy heady sci-fi, take the leap.

People of tumblr, lend me your TV recommendations!
On weekday mornings @the-real-surfski and I wake up stupidly early to exercise together before Spawn gets up and we have to start getting ready for work, etc. We watch tv while we’re exercising and need a new show, so we’re hoping for your recommendations.
Required Qualities:
- Can’t be on Hulu (we have most other streaming services) or YouTube (getting it on the tv we use is too much work that early in the morning)
- Must be engaging/fun/exciting
- Must not require thinking (it’s really stupidly early)
- Need to be able to miss bits and not completely lose the thread
Some shows that have worked well in the past include: Amazing Race (just finishing up a season, want something different), Drag Race, we watched most of The Clone Wars this way, and we did an ATLA rewatch (but I probably wouldn’t have wanted to do my first time through during exercise). We started watching both Star Trek Lower Decks and Star Wars Rebels during exercise time, but they were both so good that they got moved to evening viewing because we didn’t want to miss stuff.
Soooo what have you got? All recommendations warmly welcomed. Leave them in replies or tags or shoot me an ask or DM. Thanks! ❤️❤️

Finished "The Other Black Girl" on HULU...
It was entertaining until the last 2 episodes where it bored me with the meh backstory. I had the same feeling when I read the book and the big reveal tanked imo.(It's kinda corny and goes nowhere really). But I do enjoy the attempts to bring different kinds of speculative Black content on tv/film. It had great build-up, good pop culture jokes, and then it was just kind of...over. Maybe it's because it feels dated to me w/ the hair grease stuff. It was the opposite of "They Cloned Tyrone". It took me at least an hour to connect with TCT (mainly because it reminded me of "The Drop Squad"), and then I was hooked into the rest of the ride emotionally, unlike TOBG where I was ready to check out before it ended.
Soundtrack was good.
Actors were good enough to keep me interested.
I felt all the feels concerning Black people and traditional publishing.
It's worth checking out.
