Being an employee at Criasu was your life, to say the least. All your days consisted of planning to take the Mirai Crystals, and to stop the future, as was everyone else’s.

Your motivation for doing so was also the same as your colleagues and bosses; to give everyone eternal happiness. It made sense to you. With time stopped, there would be no more suffering. So you didn’t think twice about your job up until recently.

A coworker of yours, Dr. Traum, had created an android by the name of Ruru. While the two of you were seemingly opposites; her being the result of science, and you being a mage, you actually became pretty close. Though you never considered her a friend, since you assumed she couldn’t feel emotions like friendship and love.

That guess would be proven wrong once the Pretty Cure team had successfully reformed her; turning Ruru into one of their own. The android— now Cure Amour— was much more happy and friendly than she ever was working for Craisu. That only made you question yourself.

The thought on whether or not the company’s goal was for the best weighed on your mind. But you didn’t have anything else in your life, so you had no other choice but to continue.

“Crud.” You said through gritted teeth.

Once again, the Pretty Cure had effortlessly defeated your Oshimaida. You honestly couldn’t tell if they were getting better, or if you were just getting worse.

“(name)!” Cure Yell called out to you.

You shuffled back, prepared for a fight. “What?” You sneered.

“We don’t have to do this!” Cure Ange said, giving you a sorrowful look.

You scoffed. “Uh-huh. Okay.” You said with an eye roll. You were a bit disappointed that she couldn’t come up with anything more creative. “If you wanna ‘reform’ me, you’re gonna have to do better than that.”

Forming your hand into a claw like shape, a ball of energy began growing out of your palm.

The Pretty Cure immediately got into a fighting stance; ready to stop your attack.

With a grunt, you launched the energy their way. But it only managed to go a few feet, before hitting the ground— disintegrating.

“Augh! Damn it!” You shouted angrily. Tiny spurts of dark mist erupted from your fingertips; a clear sign of your frustration.

“He’s losing his powers…” Cure Etoile inquired.

“No…” Cure Yell breathed out a realization. “He just doesn’t wanna fight.”

You looked up at her, brows furrowed. “Bullcrap.” You spat.

“No, she’s right.” Cure Amour said.

Just looking at the girl made your heart hurt. You’ve known her since her creation. And now there she was, fighting against you.

“My scans show an abundance of magic from within his body— more than enough to result in a powerful attack.” She explained. “But it appears he’s not letting himself use it.”

Your fist clenched. You wanted to shout something back, but you couldn’t think of anything. And this was simply because you knew they were right.

“(name).” Cure Yell began walking towards you. “We both know that stopping time is wrong, and that it won’t solve anything.”

“Well what am I supposed to do? Quit my job? It’s not that easy.” You snapped. “You don’t understand how hard being an adult is like.”

“But I will.” She said softly. She looked out into the distance— seemingly imagining. “I’m gonna grow up to be a cool woman one day. That’s my dream for the future.” Her eyes met with yours. “What about yours?”

Her question made you pause for a bit. “I dunno.”

She smiled. “That’s okay! But remember, the sky’s the limit! You can do anything! You can be anything!” Finally reaching you, she clasped both your hands in hers.

Though her optimism was overly intense, you couldn’t help but feel a bit encouraged. You began wondering if the future could actually be that great. “You’re really that sure I can turn things around, aren’t you?” You chuckled.

“Of course!” She thrusted her hands into the air— yours along with them. “Hooray! Hooray! (name)!” Her pom-pom like wrist bands shook as she cheered. You couldn’t help but smile.

Looking back at the other Pretty Cure, you saw hope in their eyes. Each one of them gave you expressions of pure kindness and acceptance. You focused on Ruru specifically. Her face showed so much emotion that you’d never seen prior to her joining the team. It was clear that doing so had truly changed her for the better.

“(name)?” She asked for any kind of response.

After giving a final scan of the girls’ hopeful faces, you gave them your answer. “I think I have some former colleagues to reunite with. I should see how they’re doing since leaving the company. Maybe they can give me some advice.”

Everyone cheered, and ran towards you. Being swarmed by the colorful group of girls was a bit overwhelming, but in a good way.

You felt somebody hug you from the side. You heard her speak before you could wonder who it was.

“I missed you, (name).” Ruru said.

You smiled, and hugged her back. “Missed you too, kid.”

for no reason, 10 Precure Toys that are the coolest

I'd say Top 10 but I can't rate them really and I'll definitely miss a few, so in no particular order.

Miracle Belltier and Fantastic Belltier (Suite Precure)

I think I like the Fantastic Belltier (white) more than the Miracle, but what I especially love about these is how there are three different attacks you can do depending on whether the two pieces are connected, split apart, or (the coolest one), if you have both of them, you can switch the pieces with each other

like what the hell. it sounds like a pain to have to recreate and maybe it was just a way to force people to buy both of them but also that's just the coolest idea

2. Pinky Catch (Yes! Precure 5)

I just think watches are the coolest transformation devices. It makes sense you carry them around, they're pretty gender-neutral, and can be a fashion accessory to boot. The Pinky Catch is an LCD toy, so it's a bit limited in its flashiness, but it does have a gimmick where you can open and close the 'lid'.

3. Flower Tact (Heartcatch Precure)

From what I can tell, Heartcatch was where they started moving away from LCD toys with limited audio capability (for the transformation devices at least), and I think that was a great decision. And the Kokoro Perfume is great. But what I love about the Flower Tact is the spinning. Physically spinning that rainbow wheel around just *looks* fun to do. The Shiny Tambourine also has that and I think it's great.

4. Love Heart Arrow (Doki Doki Precure)

Magical girl weapons that actually look like real-life weapons are the coolest. It feels pretty gross that the girls have to fight using makeup when the boys get to have swords and guns all the time. And the bow is in Doki Doki Precure's logo, so it's like it's an important part of the series. It doesn't look like the 'arrow' has much weight to it when you pull it back, which is a shame, but I guess this is also for children.

5. Fortune Piano (Happiness Charge Precure)

I do wish this one had a bit more functionality, it doesn't even have a card reader to register the cards you place in them, but I love electronic keyboards and this one has physical keys you press down as opposed to a touch screen mimicking a keyboard.

6. Princess Perfume (Go! Princess Precure)

I really do like both this and the perfume from Heartcatch, but this one has a neat gimmick where the more you press the button, the lower the light goes as if it's 'losing' liquid from the bottle, so it gives it a bit more to it. I just think it's a really solid transformation device. Nice design, nice gimmick, even if it's not the most unique.

7. Mofurun (Mahotsukai Precure)

Apparently this one sold like hotcakes. I'm actually not the biggest fan of it, but I do appreciate the hustle, it's a really smart idea. Instead of just having a random piece of plastic for the transformation device, you get to own an actual teddy bear at the same time. It's like a 2-in-1 package.

8. Twin Love Guitar (Hugtto Precure)

I'm biased for any of the musical instrument weapons tbh and I think I might like the guitar from Suite Precure a bit more but I already have something from Suite here and red and purple are just a cool colour combination.

9. Mermaid Aqua Pact (Tropical Rogue Precure)

This one's cool because it has a few ways to use it. The 'shell' pops out when you insert the ring, and you can put the 'makeup stick' into the pact to use it as a gun. Anything that turns into a gun is neat by my book.

10. Sky Mirage (Hirogaru Sky Precure)

The only one of these I actually own. I had to buy it the moment I saw it because...look at this shit, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen.

It uses a fast-rotating LED light to create patterns, and I don't think I've ever seen a Precure toy that's this complex in its operation. It honestly feels like the kind of thing they'd put in a Kamen Rider belt, not a Precure transformation device. Plus the Sky Tones can spin as well for extra use as fidget spinners.

I really hope it's the start of a trend for Precure toys being a bit more complex, because it does make me upset every time I see Kamen Rider get the coolest gimmicks I've ever seen while Precure is often limited to just "press a button and the clear part turns pink". It's almost...insulting. Like they're implying girls aren't intelligent enough to play with toys that have more involved features. Or maybe it's just because Kamen Rider is an older series with an adult otaku market and that's why a lot of the belts are sold via Premium Bandai instead but...still. They're still kids toys.

I'm a sakuga fan who didn't get into Precure because of the cartel; I got into it because I went to a great panel about it at AUSA in DC. Whether I mean the anime con or the US army symposium, I leave as an exercise to the reader.

Personally, I see different Precures as having different strengths. My first one was Fresh Precure, which is famous for its very effective heel-face turn over the first half of the show, and which set a template which pretty much all its successors follow to some degree. Hugtto! Precure is probably the wisest Precure I've seen – and probably the most relatable to its young adult audience – with well-considered meditations on a whole bunch of different topics. Its immediate successor, Star☆Twinkle Precure, didn't have its wisdom but did have a great design sense.

It's hard to generalize about what makes Precure a popular magical girl show except, as Ash says, some part of it is always sincere and it's not like it has much competition in the transforming hero type magical girl space. I'm not a Toei Cop so I can't really speak to the core staff which is the backbone for its success, but it exists. Their training and mentorship isn't nearly as badass as KyoAni – actually it's kinda cursed in some ways – but for instance Rie Matsumoto came up through Precure before she went on to make Kyousougiga and Kekkai Sensen. Anime fans who brush off her Precure work do so at their own loss!

Precure certainly isn't a nonstop sakuga-kai, but a Precure sakuga-kai feels a little bit special. Is it the funny faces? Definitely.

Do you understand why precure is popular? It is possibly the most transparently-a-toy-commercial kids’ cartoon I’ve ever seen (which is saying something), yet it has like 20 iterations and a devoted adult fanbase. I don’t understand what it has that other magical girl shows in a similar vein don’t, and I feel like it’s lacking a lot of what I enjoy about, say, Sailor Moon. What’s the appeal?

I am not a Precurite, so I don't really know! My guess is that essentially the reasons you think it is "bad" is the reason the adult fans think it is good. It is "pure", no attempts to make the plot dark or mature, no ~subversive~ elements undermining the fact that the audience really likes magical girls, etc. And you say "all the other magical girl shows" but there really aren't that many on air right now! Precure is a tentpole for a genre that doesn't have a ton of competition.

I do personally think it is well-animated, and so a notable part of that fanbase are the sakuga-types. But that might just be because Sakugabooru Supreme Chancellor Kvin enforces daily watch parties for the show on his legions.

Wake Up with Healin' Good♡PreCure Alarm Clock's Cute Character Voices

    Kodansha has announced that the next April 2020 issue of its kid's magazine Tanoshii Youchien (literally means Pleasant Kindergarten) to be released on February 29 will come with a special alarm clock including original messages newly recorded by the three PreCure girls from the ongoing 17th TV series Healin' Good♡PreCure.

  The magazine was launched in November 1956 and its target readers are female infants in the age of 4 to 6. It has been known for its gorgeous bonus items and started offering the PreCure alarm clocks since 2018. The upcoming issue also includes a special interview with the three main PreCure voice actresses.

  The Healin' Good♡PreCure alarm clock features six morning-call messages and six cheering messages from Cure Grace (CV: Aoi Yuuki), Cure Fontaine (Natsu Yorita), and Cure Sparkle (Hitori Kono). You can check out sample voices in a CM below.

~ She tries her very best to treat you the same. Because other than your job, you really are a good person. So unless she’s engaging in battle, she feels as though she has no reason to fight you. It does hurt her heart when she sees you summon a Oshimaida though, as she’s reminded of your intentions.

~ If anyone tries criticizing or shaming you for your job, she’s quick to defend you. She doesn’t defend your choices or actions, rather she asks for such topics to not be mentioned outside of battle. She doesn’t enjoy seeing her friends fight.

~ One of Cure Ange’s favorite things about you is your eagerness to help innocent bystanders. The fact that you’re working towards your job’s goal, yet you have limits makes her see you as a truly good person.

~ Initially, Homare was very skeptical about your personality being genuine. She expects someone like you to be a Pretty Cure, not a part of Criasu. So it took a while for her to realize and accept that your kindness was real, and not an act.

- While she enjoys your personality, she tried her very best to not let herself get too close to you. She saw it as a bad choice, seeing that you’d probably face each other when it came to the final battle. But of course, you found a way into her heart.

~ Homare can occasionally be cold to you. You’re a constant reminder of the dangers of Criasu, so it brings forth an anxious feeling; a feeling that she can never relax, because your team could attack at any given moment. She knows it’s not kind to act that way, so she always tries her best to apologize.

~ The quickest way to gain Cure Étoile’s respect is by being helpful in a time of need, even if it means going against your own team. One time, you saved her from a dangerous blow, and that’s when she officially considered you her friend. She gave her most sincere thanks afterwards, and she’s still grateful to this day.

~ Just like everyone else, Emiru was shocked to learn that you worked for Criasu. But she got over it the quickest, as she’s seen stranger things(ahem- an android). She understands that not everyone is what they seem on the outside.

~ At first, she acted superior to you. To her, it was simple: you’re a bad guy, and she’s a Pretty Cure. So therefore, she was better than you. But she slowly learned that even though you may be working to stop time, you still have good qualities. The most obvious one is that you’re a kind person. You’re even nice to her, even when she wasn’t. So she later came to accept you as her friend.

~ In the end, she couldn’t care less where you work. If it has nothing to do with neither Criasu or Pretty Cure, then it doesn’t matter. She gets very annoyed and defensive if anyone even mentions your job negatively in something unrelated to it.

~ When you save either her, her team or innocent bystanders, she thinks it’s the coolest thing ever! You’re probably breaking a ton of rules, and she’s all for it! She fangirls about it afterwards, as if she was the only witness. She even asks you for advice on how to be as quick as you!

~ Ruru most likely knew you before she became a Pretty Cure. She used to work for the same company you do. Whether she did know you or not, she never bothered to build any sort of relationship with you. So she didn’t find it hard to inform her friends about you.

~ She knew the basics of your personality. And it confused her, ever since she first saw you. There weren’t any calculations she could do to determine why you’re so nice, yet choose such a job as Criasu. But even though it bothered her, she learned to let it go.

~ While she thinks you’re enjoyable to be around, she never lets that get in the way of what really matters. She may consider you her friend, but she would still fight you in a heartbeat when it comes to saving the future. And she always makes sure you’re aware of this.

~ As if she wasn’t already confused before, she was very confused when she first saw you save someone. It simply didn’t make sense, and that’s all it took to make her want to power off. No matter how much she questioned you, she just will never fully understand why you do it. Though, it’s still greatly appreciated.

~ While she feels way more emotion than she used to, Ruru’s still not the most emotional person ever. So she rarely cries. That being said, there are times when the burdens she carries get too much. When she does cry, it makes her panic, since it’s not something she’s used to. She always goes to you when this happens. She finds that having you around helps her tears stop faster.

~ She doesn’t always confide in you for emotional problems though. Being an android, there are things she simply doesn’t understand. She often uses data to try to answer her questions, but sometimes, it’s something that simple math or science can’t explain. So she asks you. And of course, she saves your answers in her data.

~ Over time, the two of you become sort of “comfort friends”. Friends who are always there to listen to each other’s problems, and comfort each other. Japanese Kid's Magazine "Tanoshii Youchien" April Issue Comes with "Hugtto! PreCure" Alarm Clock

Kodansha's kid's magazine Tanoshii Youchien (literally means Pleasant Kindergarten) celebrates its 62nd anniversary this year and its gorgeous bonus items have been loved by female infant readers in age of 4 to 6. Its next April 2018 issue will come with a special alarm clock with the nine-type voices of the three girls from the ongoing 15th PreCure TV series Hugtto! PreCure: Cure Yell (CV: Rie Hikisaka), Cure Ange (Rina Hon'izumi), and Cure Etoile (Yui Ogura).

  According to the press release, the project team spent 10 months to develop the special item since last spring in cooperation with Toei Animation. The person in charge says, "We will change the morning of the PreCure-loving girls in Japan to smile with this item! Please feel free to hold it to listen to the PreCure's voices!" The magazine's April 2018 issue will be released in Japan at the price of 980 yen (about 9.16 US dollars) on March 1.
