( 3. 12. 88. ) the quidditch pitch stands are full, and the sounds of the awaiting students is deafening. the unusually high spirits, in comparison to hogwarts typically quidditch excitable standard, is probably in part due to the strange influx in weather. scotland is experiencing an indian summer-esque day, with temperature highs being in the sixties! no doubt, the students and hufflepuff and gryffindors quidditch players are excited for the rest of the saturday afternoon that lay ahead. here they come now, both adorned in yellow and gold, though the major difference in uniform is the standard red of the lions. who will walk away as winner, and in contrast, the first house to not be in the running for the house cup? if hufflepuff wins, they still stand a chance. if gryffindor, who is on their heels of a not so great season, win this match, they’ll at least have a win under their belt prior to their last match-- and if ravenclaw beats slytherin in the next match, hufflepuff and slytherin will play a second time to decide who will be in the finals! but if slytherin wins, hufflepuff will be out for the count as well, if they lose today. a lot is at stake. do the players walking out into the pitch look like they’re nervous sweating, or is it just the weather?

ooc details:
this match took place on the date above, march 12th.
writing period: 4/15/17 to 4/22/17.
the writing tag is wizard:lionsvsbadgers88.
just a reminder that each point is worth 10 points, so if it says your character blocked 100 points for example, that means they really blocked ten scoring attempts. if you don’t know much about quidditch, i would recommend skimming this page and also reading through the recap tag !!
creativity is encouraged with writing how the above actually took place, and feel free to mention the npc players ( the spots that aren’t taken on the team ) referee madam hooch, or the neutral ravenclaw commentators maxence’s and daphne’s presence !!
please refrain from writing points being scored that aren’t notated in the stats, as well as changing who caught the snitch. that being said, it’s up to you to fill in the details of what took place during the match itself. you can plot out a thread where your character goes back and forth with the quaffle, almost gets hit by the bludger, etc! the thread suggestions are just that: suggestions. they’re supposed to help give you ideas, not restrict you! if you want to alter any of the details of the assists and injuries with your character for more writing opportunities, please message the main so the necessary updates can be made.
if your character isn’t on the quidditch team, you can still participate by writing your character watch the match based on the stats above, as well as whatever is written by the characters in the above tag !!
participation is optional, but if you don’t want to write it and someone wants to write something that involves your character, it’s encouraged you to let them.
please send a message to the main if you’re confused, and have fun!!

❛ —— once again, thank you for tuning into as the cauldron stirs. today’s broadcast is sponsored by sleekeazy’s hair potion —– ahem —— the witching hour fast approaches, but first, let us reflect on the events that took place at hogwarts today. march 21st marks the fifth match of the hogwarts inter-house quidditch cup. the stakes were high today. the lions made a valiant effort to win their first match for the season, having already lost their chance at getting into the finals but perhaps not at retaining their pride. meanwhile, hufflepuff played with the knowledge that if they lost, they would be most likely kissing their chance goodbye as well, unless slytherin beats ravenclaw in the next match coming up. if that were to happen, ravenclaw and hufflepuff would have to play a second time in order to figure out who goes to the finals! be that as it may, that still might happen! many were rooting for hufflepuff this go around, and the well wishes seemed to have worked, as the badgers took the crown! hufflepuff is one step closer to the interhouse quidditch cup! some notable details from the icy spring morning match are as follows:
1. the gryffindor chasers are still showing great improvement, but still not enough to fully go head to head with the rest of the chasers from each house! moans and groans were heard from the gryffindor student section every a hufflepuff snatched the quaffle, which happened too many times to count.
2. volkov-lin of gryffindor tried to give his house the advantage by slowing down the spacing of scoring. the breaking of the broom of hufflepuff’s leading chaser resounded through the quidditch pitch, but not as loudly as the booing from said house’s spectators that followed. unfortunately, this did little to help gryffindor’s cause, as vogel of hufflepuff continued to block each scoring attempt from gryffindor with ease. konoe of hufflepuff also decided to even the playing field so to speak-- it wasn’t long after volkov-lin’s efforts that the lead chaser of gryffindor was sent spiraling down to the bottom of the quidditch pitch. hey, what’s fair is fair!
3. in the end, gryffindor was desperate for some kind of redemption. despite having not scored one iota, their seeker went after the snitch with a gusto when it appeared. unfortunately for them, captain vasquez of hufflepuff wasn’t having it! binding her body to her broom, she spiraled forward in a drill like motion past the gryffindor, leaving the other gaping as she snatched the snitch practically right from her fingers. the cheers that followed from hufflepuff house were deafening! the final score was 0 for gryffindor, and 80 plus the 150 scored from capturing the snitch, resulting in a grand total of 230 points for hufflepuff!
what say you of this match, hogwarts students and alum? now is the time to send in your owls and let me, yours truly know. i’m rita skeeter, and i’ll be back after this short break. please enjoy the vocal stylings of dj, with 24 karat galleons!”
OOC: hey everyone! just a reminder that the way recaps work have been changed for this school year, as explained here. since there weren’t enough roleplayers automatically, the minimum being six, i went ahead and wrote up this recap style. of course, everyone is free to write anything match related on their own free time, keeping the above details in mind. that goes for both team players and spectators! you can also send in gossip about the match or anything else, as rita suggested. if anyone has any questions, send them to the main.

MATCH #5: HUFFLEPUFF VS. GRYFFINDOR
The temperatures have been rising in response to the upcoming Spring– I think it’s rather appropriate, considering the rising tension between the lions and the badgers. Just like the upcoming match, this one decides whom goes to the Quidditch Cup finals– and is it any surprise that both houses want the win? Badly? After all, whoever loses will duke it out with the loser of the next match for third place. On top of that, both houses are anxious to break their previous losing streaks. You can hear the crowd cheering as Head Girl and Half-Veela flies onto the pitch. Will she bring a win, or at least get Gryffindor into the finale during her time as Captain? Or will she end up dragging them down into fourth place two consecutive years in a row? This is what the people want to know! Hufflepuff has a better chance based on their previous season, but then again, their scoreboard hasn’t been quite as great since their former captain, Emerson Rosier, graduated– whom now belongs to Puddlemere United. Speaking of which, you can see him in the crowd, dodging autographs in his former house’s section. It doesn’t take much brain power to figure out he’s here to show support for longtime girlfriend, Holland Lavoie– chaser for Gryffindor. Will the badgers continue showing the other houses that they aren’t as weak as their stereotype, and get in position to possibly at least come in second once again this season? Once again, this is what the people want to know! You can see Hufflepuff’s and Gryffindor’s captain meet in the middle– Madam Hooch goes about reiterating the rules, and then they’re off.
Almost immediately, it becomes obvious that this is going to be a hard match to watch. Hard, because Hufflepuff’s arse is getting handed to them right off the bat. Fatima Valentine is clearly well aware of the stakes in her reputation, and herself along with her team play like they have no plans of it getting worse. Not to say Hufflepuff isn’t talented– Charlie is clearly trying his hardest to fend off scoring attempts, Cassandra just nearly took someone’s head off, Ariel is on the hunt for the snitch, and Cassiopeia is making valiant attempts at scoring herself– in fact, she just got one in as I was writing. But it’s just not enough. While she finally got one solid score in, Hunter just threw in the fifth score from Gryffindor, ( with Roxanne having scored two prior, and Holland once ) in only ten minutes! This match looks like it’s going to tie up quickly, and the badgers can’t bare to watch– but they will, because they’re just loyal that way. Five more minutes in, and one of Hufflepuff’s chasers and beaters eachare out for the count, but the lions are still in full force. One. Two. THREE more goals! Charlie zooms to prevent another goal but from being scored, but Holland hits the quaffle so hard that it literally pushes him through a hoop, much like like what Jinx did to him in the Ravenclaw match. Is anyone seeing a pattern here, or is it just me?
Nearing the end of the first mayhem-packed thirty minutes of the match, no one immediately notices that Ariel is on the heels of the snitch– you can tell that his teammates are conflicted about him going after it, primarily due to the current score– 16-1. If he gets it right now, the game will be tied, and no one wants to find out what that means– sudden death, anyone?… but then it got worse. As the Gryffindors bring their score up to 17, it immediately became clear that if he captures it and ends the game, they would lose by ten points. It’s too late to stop now, though– the Gryffindor’s Captain is on his trail now that he’s brought it to her attention, and if he doesn’t capture it now, she will. Silence encapsulates the field as soon as the seventh year Hufflepuff snatches it. I think everyone is in shock. The smile fades from Ariel’s face as soon as he realizes his error one moment. The roars of the lions fill the Quidditch Pitch the next.
GRYFFINDOR WINS!
It’s official: Gryffindor is the first team to make it into the finals. Everyone is elated, and it’s not hard to understand why– at the very least, the house will come in second this year, a far cry from last year’s fourth place. Fatima looks slightly disheartened that she failed to catch yet another snitch, but she brightens up as her teammates surround her. After all, without her leadership, they wouldn’t be where they are today. Hufflepuff, on the other hand, looks downright depressed. At the very least, they’re looking at a third place, and not at least the second place they came in last year. The worst? Coming in fourth, and making themselves the butt of all weak jokes once more. What a way to start off a Monday afternoon-- am I right? At least both teams have time to prepare for the battle ahead– speaking of which, who do you lot think will be joining Gryffindor? Ravenclaw or Slytherin? We’ll find out in April! This has been Rita Skeeter from Skeeter Tattles. Till next time, loyal readers.

match #6: hufflepuff vs. gryffindor
The end of the off season Quidditch matches occurred this afternoon, the game being between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. It was entertaining and toe curling right to the very end, especially with the injury that happened to Toby McCloskey of Gryffindor— he left the match with a broken arm and leg, courtesy of Hufflepuff Beater and Captain, Noah Blake. At the end of the one hour long match, Gryffindor’s Captain Fatima Valentine caught the snitch, only barely beating Hufflepuff due to their chasers having outscored Gryffindor by far. If not for the 150 point boost from capturing the snitch, Gryffindor would’ve lost in an embarrassing way. Gryffindor won the last match, 200 to 190.
#i hope no one hates me for this but the format is so annoying to fill out on the new tumblr plus people keep leaving .-.#i just wanted this off and out of the way#recap#offseason#hufflepuffvs.gryffindor

match #5: hufflepuff vs. gryffindor
The rain from a few days earlier hasn’t quite subsided just yet, and the humid air only fuels the feeling of tension in the air as both Hufflepuff and Gryffindor’s members make their way into the air and get into their positions. It’s obvious why everyone is so tense, for whoever loses this match won’t be in the finals for the cup, instead participating in a third place match with whoever loses the Ravenclaw vs. Slytherin match. Captain’s Angel and Ross shake hands and share a few words of mutual encouragement before flying their separate ways. You can feel the tension rising even further, and it’s almost like you can feel how fast everyone’s hearts is racing at this moment in time.
And then the game begins.
Only a few minutes in and it’s clear that this game could be absolutely anyone’s, both teams are just as prepared as the other. Everyone is doing their job as they should be, and it looks like the game will probably drag on for awhile. Each time a keeper blocks a point, the other blocks it with more finesse. Each time a chaser makes a point, the chaser for the opposing team matches it. The score is now tied at 80-80 with no sign of the game slowing down anytime soon.
Then chaos suddenly unleashes itself.
Fatima spots the snitch and goes after it head on, making it clear that she has definitely been practicing her skills, with hufflepuff’s seeker at an embarrassing slow rate behind her. Fatima is closing in on the snitch when Cashel Sanders and Hufflepuff’s other beater get on either side of her and, oh no, they’re doing the squeeze! Fatima panics unfortunately as they guide her in a different direction altogether from the snitch. She tries to escape but panics, and comes in at a high velocity towards the ground, breaking the fall with her back. Well that’s not good…
While all of that is going on, Breccan Kearney is targeting Hufflepuff’s captain himself, Ross Doherty. Ross continues to dodge all of Breccan’s attempts but barely, and just as the bludger comes at him again, he swings out of the way, unaware of the fact he put his teammate in danger by doing so. Spencer Gellar takes a hit to the leg, and it’s clear by the way it hims him that it’s broken. He guides himself down to the field before collapsing on it in pain, just as Hufflepuff’s seeker catches the snitch. It’s official!
HUFFLEPUFF WINS!
As soon as it’s ruled that the 230-80 point game is official, Christian Black and Breccan Kearney are almost immediately at their significant others side as they’re taken off the field. This means that Hufflepuff will be in the finals for the Fall Cup, and Gryffindor will be in the third match place with whoever loses the next match. I honestly haven’t a clue of who will win the next match, though one thing is clear: neither will be sore losers, as both captains coming up are best friends Athena Bliss for Slytherin and Tiffany Park for Ravenclaw. And I doubt the glares that the losing team are shooting the winning team will be present either. Then again, you never know. I suppose we’ll find out in two days! I bid you farewell for now. This has been Rita Skeeter from Skeeter Tattles. Till next time, loyal readers.
