#hueso and leo

Last week, Pine (@pinetreevillain) uploaded a wonderful comic between Donnie and Leo called Confrontation. It's absolutely brilliant and was tickling at my brain, so in a moment of inspiration, I wrote this teeny tiny drabble.

It's another night of Leo arriving to Run of The Mill looking disoriented. Hueso wishes he could say it's new, but it's not. Sadly, it only became more common to see after the invasion. He watches as Leo brushes by on autopilot to whatever open, small table there is and sit himself down. Hueso knows better than to push when it comes to Leo, so he lets him be and he keeps working.

After some time has passed and he's walking past Leo's table, he hears a quiet, low, "Señor?" Hueso stops and looks in time to see Leo raise his head, his eyes a little red with a haunted glaze and a deep seated ache. It hurts him to see it.

"Yes, Pepino?"

"Will I ever start living again?"

So since the Feral Leo AU is canon compliant up to the end of the movie Leo doesn’t know Usagi yet, but what a great opportunity for a weird meet-cute.

Leo’s eyes constantly shift, even after he’s recovered. Most of the time when they’re out they stay alert, but when he’s happy it’s easy to tell. It makes lying a little harder for him than it used to be. He can’t get anything past his family like he used to.
