There’s a graffiti artist in Westchester who’s been tagging a bunch of pizza restaurants with art of a pizza slice. He’s spray painted something like ten pizzerias so far. He just hit a spot Adam and I have been to on Central Ave in Yonkers and the owner went on News 12 like “I’m kinda into it, actually. I’m gonna keep it.”

The Quad Squad

It was formed by Josh Laurence, it was a group of travelers who used their carven to transport from one place to another in order to survive, the group was originally consisted of ten people, then the numbers begun to increase day by day, they had a system that worked, however, nothing good lasts in an apocalypse, the group was attacked by another group, afterwards they were ran down by walkers and only four out of thirty survived.

Joshua Laurence is the one who leads the group, he used to be a marine, very intelligent in combat, he had a fiance who was pregnant with his child, but she died at the beginning of the apocalypse.

Tyler Dallas, he's good in combat but doesn't compare to Josh, he idolizes Josh though, he's a bit of a wild card, used to be a gym instructor, he couldn't reach his family during the apocalypse, he found Josh and stuck with his group, too afraid to go search for them.

Dory Finnick is a doctor, he had a wife, four children and a happy life, when the apocalypse began, his family died of various things, his wife died because she threw herself in the face of a walker to protect her family, the oldest child died out of sickness, the other three out of starvation and dehydration, he's the sole survivor, Josh and Tyler found him barely alive but they helped him.

Fin Hudson worked in IT before the apocalypse, he was a very clever man, he provided for his younger siblings and parents who died mid-apocalypse, he's a force of nature, never backs down and sticks to his opinions, he learned how to fight throughout the apocalypse.

The four men are currently moving from one location to another, desperately trying to survive and meet day's end.

Gay Assholes in New York ruin each others lives

The Lore, simplified:

So 50 years ago, in the mid 1990s, an alien escaped from a government facility in Topeka Kansas, and tricked a teenaged girl into destroying the city of Miami, this disaster lead to a revolution in the Pacific Northwest that eventually left the US Government in ruins and in its final acts 79 regional authorities were created to manage the territories of the vast nation. Of particular note is the Regional Authority of the Hudson Valley and New Jersey which became one of the wealthiest nations on the planet for about 3 years before a coup killed the president and the Authority moved its seat of power to Poughkeepsie to try and keep power out of the working classes in New York City, this lead to a massive crackdown on civil rights and liberties that left the authority a despotic state, which in an effort to maintain its power began several ongoing wars in the Connecticut Valley over control of New Haven and Stamford, 15 years after the authority was created, a promised election to begin phasing democracy back into New York was canceled, leading to bloody riots in Hoboken and Bayonne that further militarized the state leading to a state of contradictions, where democracy and civil liberty are in effect dead but there is still a large leftist population and one of the most open gay communities on the continent as a holdover from the era of Gay Liberation as a major political force within New York City Politics meaning revolution is boiling under the surf-

The New Haven Defenders is a rag-tag hunter group founded by the humans Jade Ngô and Xavier Gonzales, later recruiting former wrestler Alan June. As well as... well let's call them 'controversial hires' within the hunter community; the reckless but well meaning werewolf Dakota Damascus of the Cole pack, William Wisp - the clanless vampire looking for a cure, and Vyncent Sol, a young man who hears the voices of avenging angels, who imbue him with supernatural abilities that rival those of the monsters they task him to slay.

Recently the group have taken in two victims of a Tzimitze elder, Summer Dileo and Doug Hudson, who they are in many ways stuck with, as living masquerade breeches.

These Consolidation steam locomotives were among the largest and most powerful of this type of steam locomotive with 71,500 lbs of starting tractive effort. The Western Maryland had the most powerful of all Consolidation classes that produced 74,000 lbs of starting tractive effort. Just look at the width of the oversized giant Wooten firebox provided for burning anthrecite coal. You can see the fireman in his cab window looking ahead. The two tracks that turnout from the yard lead to the Lehigh & Hudson River right-of-way. You can see many long gone railroad names of the freight cars, such as the Northern Pacific boxcar behind the tender, and to the left a ERIE hopper car along with a Southern Pacific - T&NO boxcar.

Changing Power at Poughkeepsie While headed to NYC on the Lake Shore Limited, the train stopped at Poughkeepsie, New York, to change power; the rail line here was formerly the New York Central. Unfortunately, I don’t know what was on point of the train from Rochester (where I got on) to this spot, but from here on in to Grand Central Terminal, it would be an EMD FL9. This locomotive, truly a unique model, was designed for use on the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, specifically with GCT in mind. The locomotive could run as a normal diesel-electric does, but also use the electricity of a third-rail (either over or under the shoe) so as to not spew exhaust in the tunnels under Park Avenue as well as in the station itself. There were sixty of these produced; they remarkable for their B-A1A wheel configuration. After the New Haven was folded into the Penn Central, the use of this engine type expanded to the Hudson Valley line, as we see here. Besides what was happening with my train, there is a Rail Diesel Car in the station; RDCs were built by the Budd Company of Philadelphia between 1949 and 1962. I believe these interesting self-propelled units were used for local service on the various Conrail commuter lines north of NYC; Metro North would take over these lines in 1983. Hello amazing humans.

I'm nervous, I'm giddy. I’m back. I promise not to paint on a bad mustache and pretend two years haven’t happened.

After a long, long, nourishing hibernation, The Man in the Iron Collar is back. Many chapters are in progress, so while I am a sloth-slow writer, there will be more to read in the days and weeks ahead, with the great goal of keeping up the momentum until the tale is told in full. Wish me luck.

Chapter 24 - Tea and Tendrils

Scraps of foresight had peppered Sherlock’s dreams since childhood, but this summer the trickle had become a torrent. What was coming? Who was this man who appeared in so many of the visions?

And then Captain John Watson had strode into his circus tent and the cryptic visions had begun to come true.

Fragments of dream-premonitions replayed in his mind on a frenetic loop.

The wind screams in his ears as he pulls out of a loop-de-loop, John gripped tightly to his chest, the circus far below–

Netters close, close – a forest full of fire, smoke chokes his lungs, panic in his veins as he grabs hold of John and launches skyward, away away –

An Adelidae keening in pain, her flesh turning to stone. He shows John how to heal her–

An obelisk of pyrite looms below him in a cavern. He grabs John’s hand, they jump off the ledge–

They run through alleyways toward a half-constructed zeppelin. Netters are close behind. They need to jump unseen–

These visions had come to pass, but more – many more – still eluded him. Some were innocuous. A few were deeply pleasant. But most of the images squeezed him in a fist of fear.

In one dark vision, Sherlock was pushing John through a glimmering rent in the air, his cheeks wet with tears. In another, the snarling tarnished tiger-helm of a Netter glared down at him, an antlered head looming behind it with eyes like cold stars; in a third, he was walking through a too-still forest approaching an ash tree. His fingers brushed over the bark’s ridges, the whorls and grooves forming the likeness of a face –

He shuddered. What pieces of dream-sight held importance, and which were just subconscious flotsam? Was there a pattern he was missing? Some clue that would tell him what danger was truly coming? It was maddening. It felt as if the answers were just on the edge of thought. The fractured scenes flashed through his mind, faster, faster –

John’s fingers slid over Sherlock’s sharply-bouncing knee, his touch anchoring him back in the present.

Alright?

The visions ebbed away.

Sherlock took a deep, shaky breath. Thank you. Got lost in my thoughts.

He was sitting in a comfortable chair by Mrs. Hudson’s crackling magical fire, so close to John’s own chair that their knees lightly brushed. His hands were holding a cooling cup of tea. He took a sip of the earthy jasmine. The wards and seals of the Haven hummed just on the edge of his perception. They were free. They were safe.

For transit agencies in the eastern portion of the U.S., the leaves falling off the trees can be a problem for their railways. Leaves have a slippery substance on them called pectin and, when crushed beneath the wheels of a passing train, said pectin can present a hazard to safety and operations by reducing friction between the wheels and rail. This condition can result in flat spots on wheels, higher maintenance costs, unsafe braking and even derailments.   Three different East Coast transit agencies -- Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Metro-North Railroad in New York, New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) in New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, Pa., have recently started using new equipment to clean the tracks of pectin to ensure trains continue operating safely and reliably.  The MTA’s Metro-North Railroad uses its laser train to clean the tracks. The laser train was introduced by Long Island Rail Road in 2017 before Metro-North began using the train on a trial basis in 2022. During the pilot, Metro-North Railroad safely cleaned more than 12,000 miles of track with the laser train, which resulted in a 40 percent reduction in slip-slide events.  The train operates on the Hudson Line, the Harlem Line and the New Haven Line and can travel at speeds up to 60 mph. Two three-kilowatt lasers are mounted on each side of the train to put down an approximate 1.2-inch cleaning band.

"Jaune Gets A Gun AU - Day 3" Colonial Marines - Various...

Inspired by @howlingday's RU-JA-GUN-CON

The girls were still feeling a little off, like they had forgotten something big. Something related to the goofy knight that had captured all their hearts. But for the life of them all they couldn't put their finger on it, plus there was a sudden distrustful jealousy of Cheerleaders that they couldn't explain. So they just chose to go along with Jaune's suggestion to get some lunch.

As they were moving past the various booths on their way to the Food Court, they passed a very militaristic booth. It instantly reminded Ruby of the Mobile Infantry Recruiting Booth from Day One of the convention. She shivered, knowing that through her inaction she had allowed Jaune to enlist.

????: Jaune? Jaune is that you?

Jaune: Huh? Did someone call my name? That voice. It couldn't be?

????: It is.

Jaune: (Turns to his right) Aunt Ripley? When did you get back?

The girls all turned to their right, following Jaune's lead.

Ripley: Recently, and my, my you have gotten so BIG since the last time I saw you! Come give your Auntie a hug!

The girls watched as Jaune hugged the older woman, a bright smile on his face. When they ended the embrace, Jaune stepped back to stand with the girls.

Ripley: Now, who are these young ladies?

Jaune: Some friends from Beacon. Ruby Rose, team leader of team RWBY.

Ruby: Hi.

Jaune: Pyrrha Nikos, my partner and temamate on JNPR.

Pyrrha: Hello.

Jaune: This is Emerald Sustrai, she's from Haven and a member of team CMEN.

Emerald nods.

Jaune: and a pair of old friends from Ansel. You should remember Tiny Tina.

Ripley: I do. Good to see you again, Tina, and if my memory serves me correctly, you should be Jinx.

Jinx/Tiny Tina: Ms Ripley.

Ripley: So what brings you to this event, Jaune?

Jaune: My friends have talked me into getting a ranged option to round out my arsenal. Right now I'm only using Crocea Mors, so they think I should look at getting a gun.

Ripley: Not a bad idea. So, have you thought about what you want to get?

Jaune: A few people, I know, suggest a shotgun, but I'm still open to other ideas.

Ripley: Well, maybe I can help you. Come with me.

Ripley led the sextet towards the booth she had been at. As they closed the distance, they saw two armoured men, standing behind the display counter.

Jaune: They look a little serious.

Ripley: Hicks and Hudson are good guys, and don't let their appearances fool you (whispers to Jaune) They're big softies.

The girls spread out to look at the display case as Jaune was introduced to his Aunt Ripley's companions.

Ruby: They do have a pretty good selection.

Pyrrha: They all look pretty sturdy and robust.

Tiny Tina: What's this one? Here at the end.

Hudson: That's a M134 Motion Tracker.

Jinx: Motion tracker?

Hudson: Provides a 180 degree sensing hemisphere in the direction the operator is facing, that indicates the presence of anything moving, with distance from the operator. Great for watching for unseen or hidden threats.

Ruby: Is that a M41A with under barrel U1 grenade launcher?

Hicks: (Moving from Ripley and Jaune as they continue to talk.) You have a good eye. I have a feeling you know the specs too.

Pyrrha: She does. What about that big one? Looks like a machine gun.

Hudson: The M56 Smartgun.

Tiny Tina: Smartgun? How is it smart?

Hicks: Mounted on a self stabilizing arm that auto-tracks targets with an infrared target tracking system.

Jinx: So it would be good for someone with, like, NO firearms experience?

Hudson: It would. Takes the guess work out of hitting a target.

Tiny Tina: And this one here, next to the rifle?

Hicks: M240 Incinerator Unit. (Noticing the looks of the girls) It's a flamethrower.

Ruby/Pyrrha: Nope. Too brutal.

Hudson: When you're taking on Xenos... anything goes girlies.

Tiny Tina/Jinx: Xenos?

Hicks: Screen on the side of the booth, next to the armour display.

Girls: What the hell are those?

Hicks: Xenomorphs, or Aliens. Steel like exoskeletons and molecular acid for blood.

The girls all grew wide-eyed. Those things made the grimm look like stuffed animals. Ruby and Pyrrha grew even more concerned, knowing that the last time Jaune visited a booth about a military style unit, he ended up enlisting.

Jaune: So, what do you think? That shotgun looks promising.

Hicks: Solid and true. War Era M37 pump, modified with a short barrel, capable of slam-firing.

Jaune: The pistol looks nice too, but I think I'd go with the shotgun.

Hicks: It's my personal favourite. Like to keep it nearby for ... "close encounters"

Ripley: So, see anything that tickles your fancy, Jaune?

Jaune: I think I'll get the shotgun.

Hudson: Okay, just some paperwork to do and...

Pyrrha/Ruby: NO! (Each girl taking a side and hooking Jaune under his arm pits, and before Jaune could struggle, Tiny Tina and Jinx moved in and lifted him by his legs.)

Hicks/Hudson: (Shouting as they watched a potential customer being hauled off) What are you doing?

Ripley: Put him DOWN NOW!

Hudson: I don't get it? It's only forms to get the proper licences. That's an over reaction, if I ever saw one.

Emerald: I'm sorry, but Jaune already enlisted with the Mobile Infantry. Thank you for your time.

Ripley: HE WHAT NOW?!? JAUNE GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE! YOUR MOTHER IS SO GOING TO HEAR ABOUT THIS YOUNG MAN!

Jaune: (in the distance) I'm sorry?

Hicks: United Federation, those blood suckers always looking for fresh meat for the grinder.

Hudson: Game Over, man. Game Over.

Ripley: (Whipping about to face the two marines) Get hold of Gorman. Tell him personal favour. Find a way to get Jaune out of the that enlistment!
