More of a move to Movie/cartoon-verse HTTYD than an actual remake
I created it only because I thought to myself "The Night Fury of the Seas" while reading. And then I thought to myself that if the Gang met one of these dudes (and didn't have a name before) they would call them "The Sea Furies" or some similar shit lol
Hiccup couldn't tame them tho.
In the process of creation, I started thinking about how to place them in my AU, and I think that some specimens could live in the vicinity of the Dragons' Nest, which is a volcano (which is located on Lava-Louts' island, which was abandoned very, very long ago. Guess why lmao).
The volcano is perforated with tunnels, including underwater ones. Female Sharkworms would swim into the underwater caves there to lay their eggs in the warm waters, where the young had a better chance of hatching and surviving long enough to survive in the sea. However, they never stray too far from the Dragon Nest, encircled by an icy sea too hostile to them. Perhaps they can sail further out into warmer climes during the short summer?
It's just an concepts for AU but have it anyway lol

Thuggory: The Sharkworms are becoming quite the pest, aren't they? We should probably thin their numbers out. Hmm... should we have a Sharkworm Fishing N' Hunting Competition?

Congratulations! We
COLLECTIVELY gave Grimbeard Dementia! (Httyd mad libs)
(Ps if you submitted a word and it wasn’t used, sorry)
DEAR HEIR.
(said the letter)
I have had a scaley Viking life. But now that I am a
blue, old dragon I find I am not so giddy with my three
years of  rollicking and flying, shimmying and toothful
air. I wonder if I might have run things differently.
This art, for instance. The Sagas will tell you
that the stealing of it was my Most
Flashy Moment. But since then. It has
been tearing my once-happy band of librarians apart
with GREED and LUST FOR Kermet. (Guess Grimbeard is gay for kermit the frog)
We are just not ready to look after this treasure.
So I have decided to get rid of it.
I know that there will be witches who will hear of the
Legend of the Treasure and come singing for it, and
for them I have buried a gay lemon (grimbeard noooooo!!! not the gay lemons) on the Isle of
the glasses as a decoy, so that they will think that
The hunt ends there. I have hidden the
REAL TREASURE
deep, deep In this underground island of tomorrow. It has
taken many many months for my helmet  to swim
down here with it. It is guarded by wind one way
and the Callban Caves the other. I have placed an Infant
Sword in the Cavern who shall grow in time to be a poor Guardian indeed. (I’m sure it will)
I dream of a time in the future when men will be able to own such seductive and  dangerous
things and use them surely.
I dream of an Heir who shall be chef, a professional pretty boy , a Man who mewes with Monsters (I hate to say this but it sounds like Alvin)  and who will harness the power of  Thugery’s Flamethrower itself.... This Heir will come and he will find my treasure. I give it to him freely, all of it.
and he shall know what to do with it.
I wish you good luck and a nice strong tooth,
Tantrum the Sharkworm

Httyd books in just a couple words...
Positives:
Entertaining. Creative. VIKINGS. DRAGONS. Swordfights, songs, libraries, challenges, quests, prison breaks, wisdom, arch-enemies. Great themes of love and friendship, endurance, bullying, and false appearances. "Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." In this case, the reader. The reader knows Hiccup's heart. How unfortunate that the reader can't advocate for him or help his cause!!! Hiccup must figure it out all on his own. Awesome horrors.
Negatives:
Too doomy and gloomy. The wins rarely make up for the losses, the beauty scarcely for everything which is nasty. The atmosphere is mostly depressing. In-universe logic isn't consistent and tends to get bended for the plot.
Overall:
Don't know. I likely won't re-read the books, because I enjoyed the movies and shows more. There were a few captivating creative ideas, and the books explain so wonderfully how the movie!verse came to be. But I have to say that the book!verse isn't among my favorite fictional universes - neither in setting nor in plot.
Favorite characters: One-Eye and Camicazi!!
Least favorite characters: Madguts The Murderous, Gumboil.
Favorite book: Book 4 - How To Cheat A Dragon's Curse. All of it.
Least favorite book: Book 5 - How To Twist A Dragon's Tale because what even was that.
Best scenes: Hiccup stealing the potato, Hiccup on Norbert the Nutjob's ship, Hiccup escaping the Sharkworms in Book 3, the cave behind the waterfall, the Meathead Public Library, pretty much every conversation with Old Wrinkly, Hiccup & Alvin in the underwater sea cave, meeting Excellinor, the prison revolt around the Slavemark, Bertha & Stoick bickering about that one dragon they stole from Madguts I think??, Eggingarde's arc, Hiccup discovering the crown.
Not doing worst scenes...
Favorite creative choices: The potato, THE FIANCES OH MY GOSH, the Romans being part of the universe, nano-dragons, Camicazi, Grimbeard's red herrings.

Twelve Days of Doomsday, Day Seven: The Slavemark
@thefellowshipofthedragonmark @inhonoredglory
Ah, this part of the story. Where everything starts to go wrong quickly.
Up to this point in the HTTYD books, danger was an undercurrent. Hiccup survived a dragon’s stomach, Skullions, Sharkworms, the Doomfang, Lavaworms, and Driller Dragons. He always emerged intact, a bit more confident, and given slightly more respect. We believed he would stay that way.
But then he got the Slavemark. Which we hadn’t seen before in the books. We were told that it was, quite obviously, the mark of slaves, and that it couldn’t be removed. Hiccup receives it, and can’t tell anyone; if he does, he’ll lose his chief heirdom and face slavery in the worst-case scenario.
The Slavemark changes the tone of the books, and for a good reason. Hiccup cannot remove it. He receives it in the dark, while other slaves hold him down and make him promise to free them. In time, Hiccup keeps that promise, and his mother asserts that the Slavemark is now the Dragonmark, and represents those loyal to Hiccup as the candidate for King.
The Wodensfang later reveals that the Dragonmark was the original name, but Grimbeard changed it because Grimbeard was a stubborn dick.
Hiccup is no longer safe after this book. His good luck runs out. And we watch with trepidation, he starts to fail after this. For Book seven, at least, he succeeds in getting home and saving his family.

POV: You are about to get mauled by Sharkworm✨
Tumblr media
My very first 3d model, still WIP but I'm stuck rn so posting it anyway
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on my interpretation. It still misses teeth, membrane of wings, webbing on paws and fins' filling (?). I also have to remake it's texture and perhaps upscale it.
Anyway, I'm open to feedback

Note
the sharkworm looks cool. how are you planning on having it move around?
Honestly don't know yet lol
I finished it up a bit but I think I will need to do some changes. Wings are done poorly and I can't animate them properly

Love that the Sharkworms have a little inner mouth with teeth that can shoot forward and snap at anything like it has a mind of its own.
So what you're saying is these Sharkworms are like the aliens from the movie franchise Alien?

Suddenly the afternoon's entertainment of "SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST" had taken an interesting twist. The audience who had laughed so heartily at the tables being turned on the greedy Sidewinders didn't seem so amused to find they themselves had become the prey...
Why, yes. Yes, it has!

I like sharks, but I don't like worms that are just a tad bit too big than they are supposed to be. (a.k.a massive) So put those two together to make a dragon that is called a "Sharkworm," well, I just don't appreciate that.

So Sharkworms have both a fish tail and a legs, so they can climb aboard ships and are therefore called "Pirate Dragons!" Which is a cool concept for a dragon.
Also, they're attracted to the smell of blood even if you're not in the water.
Still, not as scary as the Skullions, though.

Note
I wonder if SharkWorms can expell water out of their gills like the Singetail? imagine them firing it like a Jet Booster to help them fly and swim faster.
Flying-shark-torpedo is an interesting way to die
But honestly, it would be terrifying from viking-and-alike perspective. Like, as far as I know hammerhead sharks already do a lil boost when charging at prey and now this dude is not only bigger, meaner and kinda can fly but also have upgraded version of this ability
Scary as hell
