When I started shipping it if I did: So, back in 2002/3?, I finally got internet, I quickly went from “htf do I type my ‘e-mail address?’” to using Babelfish and irl books to translate the tokyo tv website’s episode summaries, which was on the Millennium World arc. I had seen a girl with blue hair in a couple (like literally, less than 5) fanarts, but I had no idea who she was. In broken Japanese, I was able to piece together WHAT she really was, but it made no sense so I assumed my translating was just horrible. Still, I was thrilled to see that my precious Kaiba had a possible love interest in the future! I couldn’t wait to meet her in the dub. Oh, how naive I was… My thoughts: As a whole, this is a great “destined soulmates” and “star-crossed lovers” ship. However, I’ve seen quite a few times that this was Takahashi’s end game for Seto, but that it changed or he dropped the ball somehow… Idk if it’s true, but she alone certainly is the most epically crashed ball of all time… What makes me happy about them: They’re dedicated and loyal, fiercely protective, and they will risk anything to save each other. What makes me sad about them: They’re a tragic couple so what isn’t sad? They almost recognize each other when they meet, but then she concludes he’s basically just crazy and runs off while he’s FINALLY like wait wtf no this is real I know you! Agh! But what disappoints me in this ship is also the world's biggest complaint - There is NOTHING to Kisara's character. I wish there was, but we canonically know nothing about her. Young AE Seto saves her from slavery, so she dedicates her life to *serving* him? Huh? WHAT’S HER STORY? Nobody has a scrap of info about her life. That’s fucked up. We only know her as BEWD, whereas everyone else gets their counterparts explored at length. Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I’ve never read a fic involving Kisara, I’m pretty sure. And if I did, I don’t remember. In fanart, though… I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything annoying involving Kisara. Things I look for in a fanfic: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In fanart, I guess how creatively can one make a call back to BEWD. That one with the headphones is so cool. (I want them!) Also, does she look like the fanartist gave her a life story, since she didn’t get it in canon. Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Kisara, lol I guess Priest Seto =P For Seto, I actually worry most about how HE would treat anyone he gets involved with. All I want is for him to be happy and learn to have a healthy relationship. Top picks are (chronologically over my years) Mai, Serenity, Yami, Yugi, Joey, & Mai again. My happily ever after for them: …she’s kinda dead- well only kinda… So I guess if she were somehow able to get a reincarnation? (Or at least a well-written characterization!) Otherwise it looks like spinster Kaiba would be perfectly happy as an eccentric old man with his BEWD ‘obsession,’ but also a main live-in figure in Mokuba’s family. Who is the big spoon/little spoon: Kaiba can’t initiate affection so he’d be little spoon. What is they’re favorite non-sexual activity: For any of these characters, you’d think dueling, but given that her spirit became trapped in a stone tablet aka card… I don’t think that fits for her. Given that she could exist as a human in the modern world - They’d be a cute nerdy couple enjoying the extended gaming culture - cosplaying, larping, creating their own stories in ttrpgs, or even a long-distance couple who connects through an mmo.
