Once upon a time there were only three (3) Cambridges: HRH Wills, HRH Catherine & HRH little Georgie

On July 8th 2016 HRH Prince George marked his upcoming 3rd birthday with his very first official UK Engagement.

The little prince accompanied his parents to the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire.This air show at RAF Fairford is the largest event of its kind in the world. The celebrations mark the 75th anniversary of RAF Air Cadets, of which HRH Catherine is Honorary Air Commandant.

Although this is an official work day for my mum, Air Commandant HRH Catherine, as the only child in family, it is my duty to ensure that she sees & tests out EVERYTHING at my first air show.

We arrived and mum thanked everyone on behalf of Gan Gan, and for the family. People are watching us all over the world. On social media, some mums are upset about my attire. Please, someone take this msg to the editor over at that DM.

"No, I Prince George do not feel cold or chilly. It's humid today and I feel comfortable. How nice of you strangers to offer advice to mum and dad. Come see for yourselves."

First Stop: Up the steps and inside the Royal Australian Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft. This is more than a plane, it's a flying house!

I met a nice pilot who held me in front of the open cockpit window so I could wave to our people.

Something odd happened to mum. I figured out how to climb back into the window and I raised my voice to talk to my people. Although I was holding on tightly, mum's face changed and her voice changed too. She yelled my name and told me to "come down out of that window!"

Pa called her a momma bear and although the pilot thought it was funny, we cut our Hercules tour short for safety precautions.

That's ok, I gave the house in the sky "Air Force C-130 Hercules" a thumbs up: kid tested & George approved.👍

My EARS! My GUMS! My Ear Defenders! This level of noise was beyond anything I've ever experienced, except on the BP balcony. I'm teething & this noise hurts!Please excuse me while I scream for help. Someone get me outta here! Hurt! Hurt!

Dad was right. Those Defenders helped me cope and then cuddles with mum made everything all better. We share a special bond. I'm her little koala bear.

Dad's turn to have fun with Georgie. He showed me the Squirrel helicopter and the cockpit of a Red Arrow Hawk! Cool toys for me to play when I'm taller.

I had a grand time showing mum & dad the sights & sounds at the annual air show. Kid tested, George approved 👍

I’m so curious why William, Kate and their children aren’t called the Prince/ss of the United Kingdom? Does that title exist? It just makes sense to me considering they are so high up.

They are Prince/ss of the United Kingdom but that's their job (see baby birth certificates). A few things to keep in your head as you read this answer:

As I said before, titles are descriptions. They tell you about the person who holds them and their status. If you know how British titles work you can decode what they tell you.

Even though titles don't mean much today, the rules are symbolic of the past where a title did mean something so The Duke of x in the Middle Ages would have had a leadership role in x, the citizens of x might swear fealty to him or pay their taxes to him etc.

"The" is an important word in titles because it's the definite article. That means if you say "can you bring me a sponge?" it means any sponge. If you say "can you bring me the sponge?" it implies there is one specific sponge being referred to or there's only one sponge.

William was a Prince from birth. His title - HRH Prince William of Wales - has a territorial designation but no "the" and includes his first name so as per what I said above, the title is a clue telling you he's the son of someone who holds the Wales title but holds no territory in his own right. When he was made HRH The Duke of Cambridge that was a jump up because it was his title. It would historically have denoted that he personally holds the territory of Cambridge, not just that he's the son of someone who holds a title. So that's why it's The Duke of Cambridge. He's the only one. Then when he was made The Prince of Wales that was another step up because not only is he the personal holder of the title - as with his Dukedoms - but it historically was connected to a Principality and a Principality is higher than a Duchy (I won't get into why now, this is already too long).

So, their title couldn't be HRH The Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom because that would signify that they personally "own" the principality of the UK (in a metaphorical, historical sense) which of course is wrong; the King reigns and we've never been a principality. And if his title was Prince William of the United Kingdom or even The Prince William of the United Kingdom that would signify that he has no territory of his own. So if his title was Prince William of the UK that would actually be a massive downgrade.

Personally, I've had enough of this circus. The monarchy does nothing to stop them and we end up wondering if there is not a double game on the part of Charles and the palace. Four years have passed and so many things that could have been done and nothing happened. The palace protects these two traitors and considers the public stupid. They could have taken away the duchy from them, demoted them to the rank of count and countess or worse, baron and baroness. All traitors.

I think many people are feeing fed up with the Harkle antics and the lack of a firm response from the palace. I know I am. I agree that more could be done to minimise the Harkle damage.

I would start by making a very clear distinction between them and the rest of the royal family, in a way that would be understood by people in any country, such as taking Harry off the royal website. King Charles made a good beginning in his speech shortly after his accession where he spoke of William and Catherine as The Prince and Princess of Wales and referred to Harry as Harry, while wishing him well in his life overseas, but - he then didn't follow it up with any action to reinforce that distinction, so Harry was able to continue to imply that he was an important member of the royal family, and there was nothing to contradict this on the website or in his titles.

With respect to the titles, my understanding is they go together, as a group. The format is to have a Dukedom in England, an Earldom in Scotland, and a Barony in Northern Ireland (Wales is reserved for the heir to the throne). Prince William's titles upon marriage followed the same format (Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus), as did Prince Andrew's (Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh) and Prince Philip's (Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, Baron Greenwich). Prince Edward was unusual in that he was made and Earl, not a Duke, and promised the Dukedom of Edinburgh in due course (Earl of Wessex and Viscount Severn). He also held no Scottish or Northern Irish title until he was granted the Earl of Forfar for use in Scotland on his 55th birthday.

As the titles were bestowed together, to my mind they should be removed together, which would leave Harry as The Prince Harry and Meghan as The Princess Meghan (EDIT: Correction: The Princess Harry/Henry, not Meghan - my mistake, sorry). I would much rather have the HRH style and Prince title permanently removed from Harry, leaving him as the plain Duke of Sussex, or have all titles stripped from him, leaving him as Harry Mountbatten-Windsor. I would also be happy to see him vanish from the royal website. If both of those happened I would be very happy, as then Harry Mountbatten-Windsor could live his life with the privacy that he keeps saying he desires, with no public ties to the BRF. He could be on the same level as Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, who have both managed to live without titles.

HAPPY 42ND BIRTHDAY TO HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES, WILLIAM ARTHUR PHILIP LOUIS ♡

On 21 June 1982, Prince William was born to Diana and Charles, then known as Prince and Princess of Wales in St Mary's Hospital, London, at at 21:03 BST. He was born during the reign of his paternal grandmother Elizabeth II and was the first child born to a Prince and Princess of Wales since Prince John's birth in July 1905.

The little prince's name was announced on 28 June as William Arthur Philip Louis. Wills was christened in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, on 4 August.

William studied at Jane Mynors' nursery school and Wetherby School in London before joining Ludgrove. He was subsequently admitted to Eton College, studying geography, biology, and history at the A-level.

The Prince undertook a gap year taking part in British Army training exercises in Belize, working on English dairy farms, and as part of the Raleigh International programme in southern Chile, William worked for ten weeks on local construction projects and taught English.

In 2001, William enrolled at the University of St Andrews, initially to study Art History but then changed his field of study to Geography with the support of the love of his life Catherine Elizabeth Middleton who he met while at school.

Will and Cat fell in love during their time at uni, and married at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. The couple have three adorable cupcakes Prince George (b.2013), Princess Charlotte (b.2015) and Prince Louis (b.2018). The family of five divide time between their official residence, Kensington Palace and their two private residences - Amner Hall & Adelaide Cottage.

After university, William trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In 2008, he graduated from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell and joined the RAF Search and Rescue Force in early 2009. He transferred to RAF Valley, Anglesey, to receive training on the Sea King search and rescue helicopter, which made him the first member of the British royal family since Henry VII to live in Wales.

During his active career as a Search and Rescue Pilot, William conducted 156 search and rescue operations, which resulted in 149 people being rescued. He then served as a full-time pilot with the East Anglian Air Ambulance starting in July 2015, donating his full salary to the EAAA charity.

Working with all branches of the military, he holds the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, Commander in the Navy and Wing Commander in the Air-Force

Upon their wedding, WillCat became HRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Earl and Countess of Strathearn and Baron and Lady Carrickfergus. He became the heir apparent on 8 September 2022, receiving the titles of the Duke of Cornwall & The Duke of Rothesay. William & Catherine were made The Prince and Princess of Wales by Kimg Charles on 9 September 2022. Additionally, William also became the Prince & High Steward of Scotland, Earl of Chester, Earl of Carrick, Lord of the Isles, and Baron Renfrew.

As well as undertaking royal duties in support of The King, both in the UK and overseas, The Prince devotes his time supporting a number of charitable causes and organisations with some of his key areas of interest being Mental health, Conservation, Homelessness, Sports and Emergency Workers.

He has undertaken several overseas trips representing the monarch, covering a wide array of countries like Australia, Canada, Namibia, Malaysia, South Africa, Tanzania, Pakistan Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, France, India, The Bahamas, Belize, Afghanistan etc ; He is also is also a founder of various initiatives like United For Wildlife, Heads Together, Earthshot and Homewards.

Okay this is honestly a really minor thing but it's been bugging me when I read RWRB fics

Prince of Wales is the title given to the male heir apparent of the British monarchy

The children of the heir apparent are Prince/Princess xxx of Wales

These two are different

To use a real-life example real quick, the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton are Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Wales, but the Prince of Wales is William. Before that, the kids were Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Cambridge because William's primary title was Duke of Cambridge

So back to RWRB

In the book, Henry is Prince Henry of Wales, but he is not the Prince of Wales. His mother Catherine is the Princess of Wales, and when she is queen Philip will be the Prince of Wales. (Even that's not entirely accurate because there isn't a designated title for a female heir apparent, and Princess of Wales is for the wife of the Prince of Wales, I'm guessing because before 2011 older sisters ranked lower than their younger brothers in the line of succession)

So the movie changing Catherine to Duchess of Edinburgh and Philip to Duke of Cambridge actually is closer to reality, in that case, Movie Henry's full title should be HRH Prince Henry of Edinburgh

Which is kinda nice since Nick's acting career started with him doing a version of Spring Awakening in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

BONNIE WRIGHT'S INTERVIEW WITH PEOPLE ABOUT THE BLUE PETER EARTHSHOT PRIZE CHILDREN'S COMPETITION

Partnering with Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, Wright, 33, is working to inspire the next generation to come up with creative solutions to tackle global challenges.

The new competition, launched in collaboration with the iconic British children's show Blue Peter, aims to empower kids to "believe that the ideas that they have are important," Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, tells PEOPLE.

She praises the influence and leadership William is having in the environmental space in using his "platform to amplify other people."
