Ice Planet Barbarians
I'll pretty much read anything if I'm told to.
I started Ice Planet Barbarians on the 10th and 10 days later; I have read 26 books written in that universe. I am nearly done with the Ice Planet Barbarians series and I've made it a third of the way into the Icehome series.
I just can't stop reading them. They are funny and corny. Written pretty well, a decent plot (even if it gets redundant), and good world-building. I'm sure the sexy times are great, but I don't even need any of that. The whole idea is kind of ridiculous, which is why I started reading them.
If you are waffling on them, I say check them out. The character development gets better with each book, so if after the first one you don't like it, try another, that is literally the worst one.
Definitely check out the trigger warnings for the books, no one seems to warn that in the first book there is some pretty heavy stuff. I would say check it for each book to make sure you are comfortable because some themes come up again.
These are really short and fun reads.

I'm reading a little.
I've started The Death of Mrs. Westaway. It's ok so far, I've read about 20% of it.
I'm kind of blah about life lately. Except for those days, where existence is a prison and I'm just so tired of everything.
I wonder if I will ever get to where I wake up and I'm not immediately upset that life continues.

Review tips or format?
I made a new goal for the rest of the year to review every book I finish. I mainly started this because I am using NetGalley now and that's the whole point, but to also build myself us a reviewer to kind of help build up my social media presence.
However, I am just not great at reviews. I've posted two to my Goodreads so far and they are like the bare minimum. When I google how to do better reviews I find either really vague ones or ones about like college book analysis.
Does anyone have tips they could share with me, I'd appreciate it!

Soooo. I'm existing. I've been reading the All For the Game trilogy.
Absolutely obsessed with it. Finished it in two days and I am now rereading it.
Read my very first fanfic and it was for this series. Pretty sure it was longer than the whole series.
Don't know why I am so obsessed, but I am.
This is where I've been since the 18th.

If I can find my motivation and stick to it, I might get back on track and using all my socials like I was before.
I know my depression has played a major part in me losing interest in staying up to date with my tumblr or even sharing like I used to because I just have lost all desire to do anything.
I'm trying to get my personal space cleaned and organized this weekend so I can be like that in my head too. Also trying to set up a routine or schedule. It seems like a bit much and not necessary, but it's like I'm either all in or all out. This isn't everything I do. Like therapy and meds, but I guess this would be me expanding my tools to my home.
I miss all my book recs and interacting with folks.
And I can share updates of what I've been doing for the past 7 months, other than struggling with depression.

May 1, 2020
An hour left in the day! I started this an hour after My Dark Vanessa. It is a book I am reading for the weekend read-a-thon. I've only gotten 23 pages in because I ate dinner and decided I needed to paint my nails immediately.
It's a beast, but I have heard such great things about it, so I am excited.

First book of May! I read 60 pages of this in April, but I read the rest today.
It was such a powerful read. It's dark, intense, disturbing, uncomfortable, and important.
Please check trigger warnings if you decide to read this book.

I did it. I finished the Ice Planet Barbarians series. It was a lot of fun.
I will probably finish reading the Icehome series as well and that is another 10 books I think. I'm going to take a break for a day or two and then try to finish those before June ends. It should be easy, they are pretty short.
My stats for this month are going to jacked up and make the rest of the year look like garbage.
I still need to write reviews for these, but they will probably be just a few lines about the pairings because a lot of the story is redundant.

Weekend Read-a-thon
The bookclub discord I'm in is having a weekend read-a-thon to kick off May, and these are the prompts and what I'm reading.
try to read for at least 8 hours
even better- read for at least 16 hours this weekend
read a book written before 2010
read a book that has been on your tbr for more than a year
read a book from start to finish
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon for a book written before 2010.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon for a book that has been on my TBR for a year or longer and also a good way to get the hours in.
Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat for reading a book from start to finish.
I am still reading My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell, so that will just count towards hours like the rest of the books.
I want to do a 24 hour readathon for myself on Sunday since it has been so long since I've done one. We'll see if that actually happens. I'm excited about these books and I hope I can get them knocked off my shelf.
How are you starting off your May reading?

I’m still cataloging my books. I took a break last week.
I am up to 406 books with another two shelves to go.
I am currently at 266 individual authors. Feeling like a super weird collection.
I am going to finish up adding all the books from the shelves in my room and then see where I am at before I get the rest in the living room.
I’m thinking I’m definitely going to hit around 600 books.

I read every day last year for 30 minutes. I was reading every day this year for 15 minutes until March and then I hit a minor speed bump.
I want to read every day again. I think I am also going to put it back to 30 minutes a day. I feel like that will ensure I at least read one chapter every day.
I am also going to review everything I finish, might be a smol review, but I'm going to do it.
Halfway point of the year, June 1st, seems like a good place to start.
