HP Expands To Bring LTE Connectivity To Lower – Priced Laptops In Future

The company today launched two new advanced notebooks

PC maker Hewlett-Packard (HP) believes that the PC market is experiencing more and more market segments. The company is optimistic about the high-end and gaming areas of Indian laptops.

But another area that HP will focus on is "Always Connected PC" or ACPC, as the company said. Interestingly, according to HP India Managing Director Sumeer Chandra, these connected PCs will be available in the company's low-cost laptops and will provide terms for connecting to LTE SIM cards.

"Now, it (this feature) can only be sold at a certain price, you will see it fall," Chandra told BusinessLine. “More and more customers can actually access it,” he said. Chandra also believes that as 5G networks become a reality in the next two to three years, such PCs can allow users to consume large amounts of data at high speeds.

“We already have LTE products outside of India,” Chandra said. Vickram Bedi, senior director of personal systems at HP India, added that they can bring them to Indian consumers in the near future, depending on demand.

Hewlett-Packard is also introducing a convertible - a laptop and a tablet in its product line - and trying to lower the price. However, the company believes that smartphones have separate tablet devices, so these devices have not greatly affected their plans.

Chandra said that the user usage of touch screen devices has increased and applications are being designed for touch devices. This is why HP has added convertibles to various lineups such as Envy, Pavilion, Elitebook and more. As customers use touch screens more and more, the company is trying to expand the market by crossing price points.

Hewlett-Packard launched its new notebook on Wednesday under its high-end Spectre line. According to the company, HP Spectre Folio is the world's first convertible leather notebook, made from genuine handmade leather, not only packaged in it. In India, Spectre Folio will only be equipped with Intel's eighth-generation Core i7 processor, up to 16 GB RAM and up to 512 GB of SSD storage. Its price is Rs 1,99,990.

HP said the new HP Spectre x360 series features a new design and the new Poseidon Blue color. It comes with a camera kill switch that helps the webcam to be safe, starting at Rs 1,29,990. The new line of notebooks uses Bang & Olufsen-driven audio.
