DEAR GOD - XTC
And if you're up there you perceive That my heart's here upon my sleeve If there's one thing I don't believe in It's you Dear God
PALE BLUE EYES - THE VELVET UNDERGROUND
Thought of you as my mountain top, Thought of you as my peak. Thought of you as everything, I've had but couldn't keep. I've had but couldn't keep.
US - REGINA SPEKTOR
They'll name a city after us And later say it's all our fault Then they'll give us a talking to
THE ONLY THING - SUFJAN STEVENS
The only reason why I continue at all Faith in reason, I wasted my life playing dumb Signs and wonders: sea lion caves in the dark Blind faith, God’s grace, nothing else left to impart

They put one foot in front of the other Two best friends in love with each other And yeah they know but they don't care
SAINT BERNARD - LINCOLN
I said make me love myself, so that I might love you Don't make me a liar, because I swear to God When I said it, I thought it was true

Fanatic Intervention Part 5!!
Tumblr media
Hiya! Sorry about the delay! Life got in the way there for a bit ^_^" But I am here! With Part 5!!
Beginning || Previous || Next
*************
Crowley had liked Hozier (although Take Me To Church, predictably, wasn’t his favourite), and after whining at Aziraphale that it’s nooooooot ‘bebop,’ you finally managed to get an admission that all right, it wasn’t all that terrible. You took the win.
But the dance party couldn’t last forever. There’s still a world to save, after all.
And so, all of you sat, thumbing through Revelations. Well, Aziraphale and Muriel were. You and Crowley had given up on the fancy Bible-ness of it and googled the Cliff Notes version.
“Ugh,” You say, “John really hated the Romans.”
“Well, yes,” says Aziraphale, “He had decent enough reason, though, as far as humans go.”
“What, he hated indoor plumbing and heated floors?”
“Actually, he hated people of the Christian faith being arrested, tortured, and killed for their beliefs.”
“Oh….yeah that makes sense,” You say, and after a moment you add “...Sorry.”
“That’s quite alright,” Aziraphale replies kindly, “He wrote Revelation as a way to reassure Christians that all of their suffering would mean something in the end. That it must be part of the Great Plan.”
“The Ineffable Plan, you mean,” chimes in Crowley with a smirk. Aziraphale rolls his eyes.
“Yes, that one,” he replies. You notice the microscopic-Michael-Sheen-ian smile on his face as he says it. Honestly, the resemblance is uncanny. Aziraphale continues. “He wanted Christians to feel heard, and to encourage them to hold fast to their faith.”
You pause for a minute before saying anything. Then you remember a tumblr post or something from forever ago.
“Santa Claus,” You finally say. Crowley spurts wine from his nose, and begins to laugh. Aziraphale is confused.
“I beg your pardon?”
“It’s like Santa Claus,” You say again, “Like ‘be good, and you’ll get presents! it’s almost Christmas Eve! Santa’s watching!’ You know?” You look at Aziraphale imploringly. Crowley is still laughing. Aziraphale doesn’t look impressed.
“I think that’s rather an over-simplification.”
“Am I wrong?”
“…..It’s...it’s not...That’s not how it works!”
“Oh, okay, so I’m wrong then.”
“Sounds about right to me!” Crowley calls with glee from the other side of the room. Aziraphale looks all flustered, his face beginning to go red. Crowley hands him a glass of wine and Aziraphale downs it in one go.
Okay, winding him up is a great deal of fun, and so easy, but I’m guessing, dear Reader, that you love Aziraphale just as much as I do. You don’t actually want to hurt his feelings. Thus you decide to concede the point.
“So,” You say, “He said he had a dream about things getting really bad and then Jesus coming back and saving everyone.”
“In a nutshell, yes,” Aziraphale sighs, clearly relieved to be back on topic. You think back to old interviews with Neil and Terry about their back-then-hypothetical sequel would look like.
“Okay, well the only thing I know about it was something about it taking place in America. I read in an old interview somewhere that Jesus was meant to descend from the heavens in a private jet with a bunch of like...bodyguard angels or something.”
“America? Again? I mean really.”
You shrug. “Neil Gaiman really likes America.”
“But it doesn’t have to be,” says Muriel now, flipping back through their notes, “You said that the sequel was never written, and the third...season?was still being written too when you left. And you said that book isn’t the same as what happened in the tv show, or the radio show, or the musical. So how do we know it would be the same here?”
They make a good point.
“Maybe ask that author of yours,” says Crowley, looking over from his drink, “You said he answers questions sometimes. Who would he be to deny,” he swishes his glass around with what you suppose is meant to be grandeur, “The Famous Crowley and Aziraphale?” He empties his glass.
“Anathema might be able to find him,” You say after a while, “Jesus, I mean. She did a good job finding everything in Armageddon Part 1. Or Adam. I mean, Jesus is supposed to be all about love, right? Maybe we can convince him not to, you know, end the world.”
Aziraphale hums to himself. “Revelations states that Armageddon is meant to be started by the seven angels of the church, bringing together seven keys. I mean, John could be wrong of course, but I wonder...Could one of you find me a map and search these names? I might have an idea why Mr. Gaiman wanted to set The Second Coming in America.”
Good Reader, guess which country contains cities named after 5 of these 7 angels. I’ll give you three guesses, but you’ll only need one.
And so now we have three directions we can take this story in.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ 🖤

___________________________
The Supreme Archangel Gabriel could not have lurked if he wanted to. Even his human corporation shines brighter than a dozen tiny suns; it illuminates the gloomy patch of clearing they were in. His Tyrian Purple robes match his eyes, which look unimpressed. "An olive garden, Aziraphale? Could we not have chosen a classier place to fulfill the Mystery?" He wrinkles his nose. "Reeks of cow manure in here."
Aziraphale tries not to wince; he almost succeeds. "It's actually Jesus' choice to come up here. He wanted to – talk to the Almighty, you know. Speak with Her, before the Hour arrives."
"Speak with Her?" Gabriel raises an immaculate eyebrow. "Why? Is he having doubts?"
"Hm?" Aziraphale glances distractedly at the grove of olives to his left. Twenty paces more and Gabriel would have his answer. "Oh, no. No, absolutely not. He knows what's about to happen – told us all about it since his miracle at Bethany. He's ready." Despite his mounting fear he cannot help but feel a rush of pride for his ward. "I know he is."
"Mm. Right. Well, just checking in." Gabriel claps Aziraphale none too lightly on the shoulder. "All according to schedule, I hope? I'd hate to report to Head Office that Salvation's going to be a few minutes late."
He laughs heartily at his own joke. Aziraphale joins in, and he desperately wishes that he cannot taste the ashes in his mouth. "Yes, yes. All – all according to plan."

Hear me out.
What if Hozier is actually just a manifested figment of Neil Gaiman's imagination and that's why every song can be applied to the ineffable husbands?

Tumblr media
This is a humble work in progress of a freestyle watercolor loosely inspired by "From Eden" by Hozier + Crowley from Good Omens.
This is my first time posting my art on Tumblr in an actual post! (besides my cover image)
By the way... Fellow Good Omens + Hozier fans, please let me know if you know the answer to my burning question: did Hozier ever address the fact that the Good Omens fandom loves him? I've been trying to find if he ever talked about it in an interview or something, without success.
I know Neil Gaiman at least knows about this, because he has answered someone's question about whether he had coordinated the release of s2 with Hozier's album.

Am I wrong for thinking that there’s a link between cancel culture and pro censorship? I don’t know… the whole thing of, ‘if you say or do the wrong thing, your career or life will be ruined and destroyed’ is quite disturbing to me. And yes, I understand that there’s nuance to it. E.g. someone like Trump or Weinstein or R. Kelly should probably not be in the same vicinity as most people because they pose a danger to the public and their employees (who could get raped or some shit. Trafficked maybe). Or someone like that lady from Baby Reindeer should be “cancelled” because she actually harms lots of people.
But society has created this culture of making individuals feel scared of saying the wrong thing in fear of their lives getting ruined. People wonder why more celebrities don’t speak up about the genocide in Palestine, well maybe it’s because if they say what people have deemed is the “wrong thing” they’ll lose their livelihood? It’s a double edged sword.
If they are pro Palestine, the pro Israel camp will crucify them and they’ll lose endorsements. If they’re pro Israel, the pro Palestine camp will crucify them and they’ll lose endorsements. So most choose to remain silent. But they’re crucified for that as well.
The Israel/Palestine issue does have nuance, it’s not as black and white as people say and I’m saying that as someone who is very pro Palestine. I was HORRIFIED at the amount of antisemitism thrown at Jewish people for mourning their loved ones and their loved ones’ loved ones on the 7th of Oct. Bullied people into absolute silence using antisemitism. But I’m also simultaneously horrified at the Islamophobia and anti Arab sentiment being spread around.
People tried to cancel Hozier because his statement wasn’t pro Palestine enough, same with Lewis Hamilton. God forbid someone shows compassion towards CITIZENS (not the government but CITIZENS). Same with Neil Gaiman, a literal Jewish man. God forbid he show compassion towards JEWISH PEOPLE.
[and yes, I’m aware that Judaism ≠ Zionism, but 73.6% of Israelis are Jewish people and majority (not all) of Israelis are Zionists, so are Jewish people abroad not allowed to feel sad about the deaths of other Jewish people?]
And reducing people to one statement is horrible. If someone is pro Israel, I don’t think that makes them a bad person overall just because of their one opinion. Someone could be pro Israel and a stand up guy. Someone could be pro Palestine and a bully towards everyone in their life, does them being pro Palestine erase the fact that they’re a horrible person? Does someone being pro Israel erase all of the good things they’ve done in their life?
Idk man, to me, cancel culture and censorship are two sides of the same coin. Censorship is done by corporations and businesses while Cancel culture is done by society. Both the same thing though.
And side note, if people think that all Israelis are sick and evil people, does this logic apply to Russians when it comes to Ukrainians? Or Chinese people when it comes to the Ughyurs? Or the Turkish when it comes to Armenians? Or Dominicans when it comes to Haitians?
Is every single Israeli/Russian/Chinese/Turkish/Dominican/etc a sick psychopath while every single Palestinian/Ukrainian/Ughyur/Armenian/Haitian/etc a wonderful soft and delicate fairy?
Is Obama a pure and good man simply because he supports Palestine? What about all of the Arab blood that he has on his hands? Is Zelenskyy an evil man for supporting Israel? What about all that he’s done and has been doing to support the Ukrainian people, his people? Which action are you going to reduce them to? The good one or the evil one?
My point is that black and white thinking will be the death of this earth as we know it.
And to reiterate, I am pro Palestine and do not support Zionism.
That’s just current culture with rise of social media and everyone having to be in everything ( regardless if it effects or about them)
I’ve seen people get upset at YouTubers for holding Starbucks cup in frame of their video. Followed by comments going “ how could you support them!!!?” Followed by said youtuber having to explain “ hey that’s old cup I reuse etc etc I’m not in loop but I support xyz”
That type of knee jerk reaction is very (??) cause on global scale YouTuber with 100k subscribers having product that supports a certain group ain’t really helping the main cause.

@aspen-carter started this and I wanna do it too :)
Get to know the writer.
Pen name(s): Now realising I don't really have one? I'm lolololola on ao3 but that's only because i was listening to the song by The Kinks.
Age: 21
College/university degree(s): 1 month from finishing my undergrad in Politics and IR with History.
Favorite book growing up: Anything by Roald Dahl but my favourites were Matilda and The Witches, and the Narnia books by CS Lewis.
First “grown-up” book you remember reading: The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory.
Favorite novel(s): The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson and Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.
Favorite published writer(s): Neil Gaiman, Jane Austen and Hilary Mantel.
Favorite book(s) of poetry: Not a big poetry fan but I do love a bit of John Keats.
Favorite "children's book"(s): The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien.
Favorite movie/show adaptation(s): The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Dracula (1992) and Wolf Hall (2015).
What do you listen to when you write? Maestro Djawadi ofc, HotD and GoT soundtracks, actually there's this edit on Youtube of a few different Targaryen themes, would highly recommend that. I also like to make my own playlists for different works or characters, which usually feature a lot of Hozier, Ethel Cain and Lana Del Rey. But also, I get distracted really easily so if I’m trying to concentrate just silence, or the intro of Genesis by Grimes slowed on a 20 min loop (that’s not a joke).
What do you drink when you write? Nothing in particular, water, iced coffee, iced tea, anything with lots of ice apparently. Actually I chew gum a lot when I write.
Your favorite piece that you've ever written: I’m far from a magnum opus but I love the first chapter of Karma is a God and Chapter 3 of Our Souls are Bound (which is a huge shame because I’ve almost abandoned that fic whoops). And My Heart Belongs to Daddy has been so fun to work on.
Favorite fanfiction you've read recently: Currently in love with Now I'm Covered in You by @inthedayswhenlandswerefew, The Seamstress and the Sailor by @assortedseaglass, Heaven Knows (I'm not getting over you) by @lightningandfireinmybones and anything by @squirmhoney.
no pressure tags: @blackdreamspeaks @babygirlyofthevale @xfancyuu @eyelinerandcigarettes @bouncehousedemons and anyone who wants to do it too! tag me i'm nosy af

Tag Game: Get to Know Me
Thanks for the tag, @brendaonao3! (Note for people who tag me in tag games: I love to be tagged in tag games, even though my typical response time suggests otherwise.)
Name: Carly
Pronouns: she/her
Star sign: Maverick sun, Iceman rising Sagittarius sun, Leo rising, Pisces moon
Number of siblings (+ any fun facts): One of each, both younger. They look like each other, but I don't look like them at all. (Oddly, my sister and I both look like our mother, but in different ways.) When my sister and I were little, my mom used to have to tell people that yes, we had the same father. (Bc people think it's fine to ask stuff like that? Also I have very curly hair, and it's a recessive trait that one person in every generation on my mom's side gets, but people are so weird about natural curls, and every new hair dresser I see asks, "Who did you get them from?" and a disturbing number of them have made jokes about my mother's infidelity and my questionable parentage when I inform them no, neither of my parents have curls. Who raised y'all?)
Number of pets & their names: Currently, I myself only have one animal, my dog, Elio. But 1. I am actively looking for another dog, 2. My family has a ton of dogs, and 3. We all volunteer for dog rescues (Yes, plural. My sister actually started her own 503c NPO rescue a couple years ago bc her own, like, extra credit financing of homeless dog medical bills was going to bankrupt her, so she had to start a charity so people could donate. She specializes in senior and special needs dogs, but works with local city and county animal control agencies so she gets a lot of breeder and hoarder surrenders, and subsequently ends up with, for example, 18 purebred Bernese Mountain Dog puppies several times a year.) The point is, there's, like, a whole lot of dogs in here.
Fandoms: They are legion. Mostly active in Top Gun rn. Again. Still. Still again.
Favorite song: They too are legion, but include Fiona Apple - I Know, Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs, Hozier - From Eden, Lake Street Dive - Good Kisser, Bad Company - Bad Company, Natalie Merchant - My Skin. Lately, I'm listening to the following a very normal amount: Tracy Chapman - You're the One (it is Icemav af BTW check it out)
Favorite author: Fiction: Neil Gaiman. Nonfiction: Mary Roach.
Favorite fic type: I like established relationships, true love and people just enjoying each other, and happy endings.
Favorite holiday: Ugh I hate this. Um, New Years Eve.
Do you have a partner (romantic, qpr, etc)?: I already told you I have a dog. Nope.
Hobbies: Dogs, writing, art of various kinds (mostly drawing, some painting, and I am always trying new things like building a tufted headboard, teaching myself to sew, or making custom funko pops), gif making, Val Kilmer.
Fun facts about you: I've never had a cavity. I ran over myself with my own car. I can't figure out if I have 12 tattoos or 13. I can French and Dutch braid my own hair. My favorite perfume is Chance by Chanel, but I also wear Daisy by Marc Jacobs if I want something lighter.
