Christmas as a cultural icon is starting to get really dystopian in a climate sense, december has historically been a time of year in which there would be snow in a significant portion of europe and north america, and the fact that its not even icy this time of year and all the christmas songs and decorations reference a time of year that will likely never exist in the same way again in my life time is so strange.

idea: a group of 7 or so people are at a high school reunion, they used to be friends but now have wildly different personalities. some freak accident happens that gives them all pretty generic and conventional superpowers (by modern standards at least) but theres a catch. they can ONLY use said powers, which aren't even all that good on their own, if they combine with at least one other person to form some sort of superman type hero who only has the powers of those who merged to form him. the conflict is both between the various antagonists (ranging from laughably incompetent to enormous threats, and the protags will fight them with varying levels of power) and between convincing people to even become the hero in the first place, since nobody is fully on board with the superhero thing and will be more or less inclined depending on context. and once you merge youre stuck as the superman for a set period of time so its not like you can unmerge and convince the guy with the exact power you need to beat the villain

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.

Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)
