I’ve seen you discuss AUs before and I think either you talked about c!Disc duo or you reblogged someone else talking about it, but I have an angsty au (that might already exist but idk) that I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on.
So in the prison arc when Tommy gets trapped with Dream , what if instead of Dream killing Tommy he manages to overpower Dream (cuz he’s a bit weaker from malnourishment, etc.) and Tommy kills Dream instead? How do you think that would change the story?
I've definitely talked about c!Discduo before!
hhmmhmhmhmm. In such a world where Tommy could overpower and kill Dream, I think right off the bat, Sam would have an aneurysm.
There's definitely a world where Sam just freaks out and refuses to let him go for ,, way too long. Once people learn he let his prisoner get killed, that would that mean for the prison? His reputation would be in shambles! Lots of directions to take this, depending on what characters and themes you wanted such an AU to focus on.
Regardless, it's inevitable that Punz would revive him. Assuming Tommy gets out relatively soon after, he lets everyone know that He is a Big Man who KILLED The Dream !! Punz hears, and revives him. That essentially skips forward to the prison break without having to involve Quackity and the torture, Ghostbur or Techno/using the favor.
Which is interesting, since enduring the torture is what dictates a lot of Dream's more subtle behavior later on. Heck, he might decide he wasn't in there long enough, who knows. (Though I'm sure he wont miss it, since he started acting out on Day 1)
But from there, Dream gets to decide if he wants to play dead for a while, or appear right away to say "look Im basically immortal, dont even try to kill me, it wont work lol.' Which would effect how other people react, of course.
Overall, i expect he would continue on with The Plan in whatever way he decides suits him best. Tommy will Surely have a heart attack the moment he catches wind of Dream not only still being alive, but running around too. That would probably mirror his spiral in the finale, except he wouldn't have had to deal with the whole ordeal of Wilbur's apology tour and then leaving him, since Ghostbur would be bumbling around instead. So maybe he'd be a bit more stable... ?
This definitely feels like it would be a butterfly effect thing, where later events could change Drastically if you wanted them to.
