so like this book is fully growing into my heart but also this entire middle section is just EXTREMELY camp

which! more things should be. to be clear. there should be more enormous novels that clearly demarcate the beginnings of thematically meaningful acid sequences, with cues for adaptation into stage musicals. earnest doorstopper fantasy that's like "by the way everyone in this scene is wearing just the most enormous feather boas & also the macguffin is a sparkly purple scarf." like. yes. please,

#at the feet of the sun #it never quite takes itself as seriously as you think #there's this little bit of dryness in kip's narration that's like #oh this man is fuckin JUDGING #he is taking MENTAL NOTES #he is CRITIQUING the decor he is ANALYZING the costuming #he has FEEDBACK and it is NOT offered in the spirit of improv #however BECAUSE kip is democratically elected dictator of Staying In Your Lane #it is not offered at all because that is not what he is here to do.#but if it WERE his circus the monkeys would have a FAR better handle on the choreography
